      Haltech, please answer me this. How do you, an Australian owned company, sell its new PDM16 at almost $125 AUD more in Australia than it does in the US?

      AUD price includes GST whereas the USD price is ex local taxes.

    One thing I learned wiring in a PDU (Smartwire) to run the car was that you can't use it to switch on the ECU if the ECU controls the PDU! You will still need at least 1 physical relay with fuse to turn the ECU on and off with IGN power.

    with an Rx7 FD.. would using the PDM for the Fan relays be ideal? to my understanding you want relays somewhat close to the device its used for. I'm very interested in using this for my other FD cause it was sitting for 16 years and I want to take all the wiring out. I am wanting to still use the ignition stock on the column but using a PDM. Is there also a way to use more than one connected to a 2500 elite? if you were to use all the 25A output/inputs? Also is there an issue using, for example, at 20a device and splicing the wiring to 3 of the 8A HCO? I am still tearing down the car and might be trying to ask questions that are not problems yet but my mind is what it is.

    You say it can sink current, but I don’t see a dedicated ground connection like on the nexus. Is it going through the case or does the ground connection have to be added another way?

    • @nathanclark6336
      @nathanclark6336 2 роки тому +1

      Stanley, the PD-16 is used mainly for high side driving devices with Battery Voltage (100A), but it can sink up to 30A total via the ground pins on the 34pin connector.

      @Turbochargedtwelve 2 роки тому +1

    • @Turbochargedtwelve
      @Turbochargedtwelve 2 роки тому

      @Andy Wyatt ok, that makes sense. One other question, how is the ZVR/ sensor ground set up? Is it shared with the ECU or does it need to stay separate? Is it the same for the 5V ref?

    • @Turbochargedtwelve
      @Turbochargedtwelve 2 роки тому +1

      Ok, that makes sense, they stay separate. Also after writing the last comment I realized who you were, the architect of this device, so I hope you don’t think I’m being overly critical. I think this thing is really awesome.

    Given that industrial applications do similar with VFDs and PLC but still use fuses, breakers and mechanical relays, sounds as this is being oversold very much... especially since there has been to no response to technical questions in the comments.

    This seems like another overpriced proprietary PDU targeted at race teams with too much money. I understand I'm not the market but I'd really love to see something targeted at integrating with existing CAN systems. Something akin to the J1939 and NMEA 2000 keypads and PDUs offered by Blink, Empirbus (now Garmin), and Eaton, but suitable for operating over plain CAN.
