The River Cypress run blends Gretsch's handbuilt USA Custom shell recipe - the dark, chewy, timeless response of maple on gumwood - with the exotic tone and visuals imputed by this rare historic cypress. The result is a look and play that begs to be experienced in person.
The multi-tone striated shells are free from stain of any kind; the patterning and gradients you see in each veneer are the result of natural sediments in the water where the wood lay. Classic 30° bearing edges give shells that timeless Gretsch response. And a Silver Sealer interior finish, along with a hand-applied nitrocellulose exterior lacquer, will make this kit stand alone among even the most elite Gretsch collections.

I like how he talks about artists using gretsch in the studio
I bought this kit used in the video...it’s truly a spectacular kit. Thanks Scott A, and Nick D for the great service you provide to us drummers!
Awesome and have fun with them …blessings
I bought a 5 piece set, Satin Peach in 1967, I've never heard any other set that sounded better. Still have original heads, no rust on chrome. You can't go wrong with GRETCH!
Nick is the best person you could have got for this job. Time for a raise.
Nick is a great musician/drummer, watching his videos is always a treat, regardless of the promotion purposes. In this video his playing is soooooo tasteful, powerful and inspiring! Thanks Nick and Sweetwater for having him!
Man, some of the best looking Gretsch drums I've ever seen. The oversight by DW has made one beautiful Gretsch kit.
What a crisp clear clean sound they have. NOT to mention the groove that was being played. Another OUTSTANDING kit / performance.
🤘🏼❤🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁❤
Nick your alright and we love you. Always a smile and positive attitude. Drums sound incredible too. Best thing about these drum presentations is watching you play. It gives us all ideas and inspiration.
Oh yeah and if we're in the market for a new set this is the place to hear them ahead of time, especially if you can't see them in person in a store, like the good old days.
Thank you.
If Nick’s performance didn’t sell all of these kits, the tuning, mix, and composition did.
This kit is out of this world!! And stylish to boot. 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Yo, Nick, Kansas just called and they want their Leftoverture mojo back in case they get commissioned for the soundtrack of some epic mmorpg.
My homeboys.
I had a Gretsch Blackhawk set play the hell out of it for years just hold up very well and sounded great
Nick is awesome!!
I watch a lot of your drum demo video's. American-built Gretsch drums are at a higher tonal level, and that snare is just about perfect. And with stock heads.
I sure do love the sound of Gretsch drums! Nicky D plays "em pretty good too!
Amazing song, killa drummer, gorgeous kit.
That intro was spectacular! Phenomenal sounding kit, awesome cymbals, and an amazing track. Thanks for another great demo and will sure look into this kit. Love you Nick!
Great sounding kit. Super full. Love the kick mounted tom too.
Faaaark that intro was awesome
That prog jam was fire.
They sound fantastic!
😎👍🥁
He is so smooth!
That was such a sweet jam. Great video!
Dang Nick, crushing it my dude! Those drums sound amazing
Nick is the best!
Beautiful drum kit and awesome presentation Nick!🥁❤
Great demo Nick! I’ve owned several Gretsch kits and always go back. You just can’t go wrong with Gretsch!
Have you had any experience with their lower level kits like Catalina?
I have both Gretsch USA and DW drums sampled in my Kat KT4. I also own a 60s era Gretsch BOP kit.
One of the best snare sounds I’ve ever heard!
Literally!!! It sounds insane 🥁
Great kit and awesome drummer!
Epic play through Nicky 🙂👍
Freaking killer groove, Nick! Loved it!
Your the best for this Mr.Nick
beautiful finish
gretsch usa's are just THE drum sound to me and one day I'll get some but until then my renowns sound pretty darn close
Ditto. My Renowns have 302 hoops. I'm tempted to pick up diecast hoops to see what that does for them. Make no mistake though, the 302 hoops are superb. I'm just curious more than anything.
@@bakedalaska4363 mine do too! my sizes are 12 13 up 16 down and 22 bd. I love the 302s they make the toms absolutely sing and give big vibes. such powerful drums. you want to hear what die cast would sound like look up the previous version(called rn1) they came with die cast hoops and virgin bass drums!
I have owned several Renown, USA, Brooklyn and Broadkaster drums. The Die Cast were stock when I had my Renowns. Sounded fantastic! I also found a 2000 era V1.0 Renown kit (shipped with Gibraltar Power Hoops when Gretsch first partnered with KAMAN), and I swapped out for Die Cast and really beefed up and dialed in the sound again (slightly thinner shells closer to USA). I also swapped the 302s for DC on the Brooklyns and Broadkasters I had - solid, solid fundamental, and easy tuning. You might dig them! I was using Coated Emperors (rack) and Vintage Emperors (Floor) and always sounded great! 🤘🏻
@@bigkickleo oooohhh die casts on broadkasters sounds like an awesome combo! it's just all preference for sure. I like my toms wide open and to sing and also like the feel better but a lot of drummers prefer a more dead eq sound. no right or wrong there. would love to hear the broadkasters with die casts.
@@jermss_ Actually, it didn't deaden or damp the sound at all - that 16X16 Broadkaster Foor tom would sustain for DAYS!! The DC hoops just seemed to "clean up" the overtones a bit. Almost like eqing out the extra harmonics. Heads were wide open by the way, 90% of the time. 👊🏼
Cool kit, cool piece of music, cool presentation and cool drumming!
😎👍🥁
nick your playing is outstanding as always.
Those Gretsch shells are just what the doctor ordered. But I'm also digging on the cymbals.
Nick, this is great playing indeed. And a fantastic set. :)
This would be a dream kit to own.
My jaw is on the floor
Nick you're the best 🤙
Nice-looking cell nice-looking set
this guy can sell snow to a cave man to be fair.
Love the BBT!!
I'd love to see Gretsch find a way to replicate the look of the River Cypress kit into their USA Custom line with some kind of natural to black fade/burst/duco. The USA Custom is one of the nicest sounding kits on the market, one of the ultimate high-end kits in my book. Love the look and sound of this, and 22x16 bass drums are always nice to see!!
Just when I thought "Gretsch" drums sounded amazing, they come out with "Gretsh" drums. Time to get out the old wallet.
I must have one of these kits
Thanks for saying what sticks you use. I'll check them out next time I need new sticks.
Nick, you are Amazing!!
🙌🙌
@@sweetwater God bless you guys. I actually have a Brooklyn 24x14, 13x9 and 16x16. Plus chrome over brass 14x6.5 brooklyn snare. It's a monster. Nick is undoubtedly the best drummer doing demos out there. As well as one of the Greatest drummers, period. Xxx
Ooooh nice dude
Excellent drumming Nick. I would prefer one more floor myself but the kit is absolutely pisser. Giving Phil A run for his money.
Nick, you are the man but that sound is the reason I played TW
These Gretsch drums look and sound amazing!!!! Unfortunately I do not have the budget or space for an acoustic kit of this caliber. Unfortunately can only have Roland e-kit in my apartment right now. Will have to go on VEXPRESSIONS and try to find some Gretsch kits for my td-17 or maybe import some Gretsch drum samples into my strike module
Gosh, I love that wide open tone on the toms! I've always loved resonant drums that "sing" for a good bit.
Kind of reminds me of the old Rogers Wildwood kits.
Amazing drummer and amazing track.
Would anyone know what is the name of this track?
My uncle used to play maybe more Gretch / DW/ Ludwig drums
Then he switched over to bass you can tell there not low end he hated Tama drums
I tried telling him Tama back in the 90s was the highest end but now I agree they are monstrous Drums
One day Nick one day.
Opening jam in 11? Must be Nick! 🤘😊
All Nick's jams are prime.
Once I saw "only 30 kits made", I knew John Goode had something to do with it.
PLEASE do a demo of the fill at 10:34? MY GOD! That's sweet!
It's just RLRLKK sextuplets. RH between snare and floor tom, LH between rack tom and floor tom.
Why don't you list the cymbals used in these videos anymore?? Love the China cymbal, wish I new what the make, model, and size was ,perhaps I would purchase it.!!!!!!
Big Big Train - Judas Unrepentant is a gas!!!
Wow this song is amazing, who is it? Drums sound awesome and your a monster player. Also the cymbals are perfect especially the High Hat... What are the cymbals. Wish this kit wasnt so damn expensive though, would love to own this kit, and many more Gretsch sets, they really are my favorite drums by far.
it's posted right on the screen at the beginning of the video
Wow what a peach...
I find it interesting that Gretsch doesn't mind putting Hardware mounts into their bass drums..... It even looks like the TomTom Mount is not isolated from the shell...... not sure if that even matters but it seems like for years everyone wants virgin drums with no mounts.... Or isolated mounting brackets....... I own two Gretsch USA custom kits.... one that I bought new in the late 1970s and another one that I bought used in 2010 and they are both fine kits... They can sit in a garage for years then you take them out and scrape off the dust and smack them with the stick and they still sound good...... That great Gretsch sound is not a myth....
Where can we find your play along music
Hi.. Anybody play these drums with clear emperors or clear ambassador's ?
🔥💯✊🏾.
🔝
There's a USA set with one floor tom, are you able to add another floor Tom?
Hey, Anthony. Thanks for your interest. You can add a floor tom to Gretsch USA kits that are currently in production. This Rock River Cypress kit was a special limited run a few years back.
I hope this helps.

Where are backing tracks from?
I want that snare drum
Too late 😂.... I got it and the rest of the drums in the video lol
@@ericcurtis8824 how do you like them so far?
@@traviswoodall6547 insanely great!!!!
You can see the DW coming out in Gretsch , won’t be long they’ll have vlt, hvlt, and so on and so on lol gotta love John Goode
You are awesome man, what’s that China?
Looks like a 19" HHX china.
Who can afford a USA custom 😊
I really wish DW would keep the "limited edition" on the DW side of things.
Gretsch has been doing limited edition kits long before DW came into the picture.
This reminds me of The Mars Volta
65 years? They’ve been making drums since the 1800’s, no?
The USA Round Badge kits are what he’s referring to. They are now called USA Custom
Not a bad way to spend five grand.
Yooo it is Gretsch not Gretsh
Choosy drummers choose Gretsch
Sound better with Evans G2 clear heads
So many of these snare drums sound the same, no matter what price range..
Very nice. But I would never buy a “shell pack”. Especially high end drums. I choose my shells, I choose my colours, I choose my hardware.
Agree, these are wonderful, but for the crazy price you should at least be able to get complete custom.
People don't seem to realize a shell pack can be added on to & you get the drums of a shell pack for a discounted price over individual drums typically.
Being that there are only 30 kits in this wood, might make custom choices a bit tricky..
-beefy.
You look 8 years younger? Wtf
No thanks😂
I have a usa custom, the floor tom sounds like garbage
More drums that sound like every other set of drums all about the up sell these days lol
I wish I could have this kit
