I liked it Kris. Surprisingly, I wasn't Crazy about the score, I know your like me with the music in movies.... But the movie was good.... I DON'T like erza, but I thought he did ok.... I think this Batman, mushetti Batman, has the best take on his fighting style.... I can't wait to his brave and bold....
Mushetti said, the CGI was supposed to look like it did because he was showing how you see light bend if you were violating the speed of light..... At least that's what he said
Even before I read the comment from the director about how the chronosphere cgi was suppose to look that way I thought during my viewing the same thing. The only CGI that annoyed me was outside the chronosphere. Moments where barry in the suit looks really off. The speed force stuff never bothered me as being bad cgi because barry is in a realm outside of real time and space, he is looking at memories in a way. Idk about you but my memories are not crystal clear HD lol
The ending was supposed to be Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne. There was even set photos. It was supposed to be leading into the Batgirl movie that got shelved.
@@williambonnet2439 It's a shame they killed her character off, but even if she's not in the new Supergirl movie, Gunn has eluded to exploring the multiverse in the future.
I had low expectations, but I actually really like it. Some annoying things, like the CGI, but overall it's pretty good. I also liked that there were reasons for everything that happened. They didn't happen just because. And yes, 18 year old Barry is annoying, but he's the Barry that had his mom and dad his whole life. The Barry we know has his personality from the pain in his life from losing his mom and dad.
First of all, R.I.P. John Scnepp. Less than 30 seconds of that Nicolas Cage cameo completely sold me on "Superman Lives" I went and rewatched Schnepp's documentary on it. It could have truly been something unique & special. I think it could still work in animated form. DC should call Burton & Cage and get it rolling. I thought the movie was OKAY. I think CW The Flash (Season 1) handled the story better tbh. But the movie did have amazing moments, Keaton was AWESOME! Supergirl surprised me! The CGI was definitely rough in a lot parts. I'l l be honest, I never cared for Miller as The Flash, he doesn't remind me of Barry Allen in any sort of way. Despite that, I still had fun. Surprised how many people absolutely hate this, but it did get a litfle over hyped. I wanted to love this movie, but ended up just kinda liking it.
@husker4life109 it was several years ago, you know how things are with streaming services, one months the movie is there, next month it's gone. Amazon may have it for rent/purchase. It's well worth a watch.
I loved this movie, but regarding what you said about Ezra Miller not reminding you of Barry Allen; I would agree, but Grant Gustin doesn't remind me of Barry Allen either. Neither Miller or Gustin remotely resemble Barry Allen as he's traditionally been shown in the comics. John Wesley Shipp is still the most accurate Barry Allen, and he didn't really look like comics Barry either. Comics Barry Allen is blonde.
One of the best things in the movie was when Batman admitted that he would have accomplished more if he had fought poverty instead of criminals. 🤷♂️ And apparently the bad cgi was on purpose.
Traditionally, Batman has always done both. Fought crime as Batman and fought poverty as Bruce Wayne. Maybe he meant that he should have spent the money he spent as Batman on fighting poverty in addition to the money he did devote to fighting poverty. The thing that a lot of people don't realize is that Bruce's parents donated money to anti-poverty efforts and that wasn't enough to clean up Gotham City. Gotham needed both. Bruce Wayne's money and Batman. (Obviously, this is mostly referring to post-Frank Miller Gotham. Adam West Gotham was a much safer city that arguably didn't need Batman as much.)
After watching The Flash, just imagine a Ben Affleck Batman movie… Those first few minutes with that version of Batman was amazing. Sucks that we’ll never see it happen.
@@mikerotonda6264actually none of them are staying. James Gunn confirmed george Clooney isn’t going to be Batman in the Dcu and that ending was just for that universe.
They Gave Michael Keaton the Second Best Batman Fight behind Ben Afleck, he was moving hella good Batarangs Going Crazy! And that roundhouse kick looked great! I was REALLY impressed what they did with Keaton.
I believe the baby CGI was somewhat intentional because if they looked more realistic it would be a really dark scene. A baby literally goes in a microwave lol. I believe it was an artistic choice to keep the mood light and funny.
Then why not just get rid of the microwave? It was still a little disturbing to see the baby in a microwave, or almost getting stabbed by medical knives.
This movie was disappointing, but the worst part was realizing that the ending is closing the door to a Batman Beyond with Michael Keaton and potentially Michelle Pfeiffer. Between the DCEU and MCU, they are WASTING these talents. I guess I'm looking forward to Gunn's direction and whatever role he casts his wife in 😂
the barry back in time he was soo annoying to me, to me he acted soo immature for his age. i know he was a teenager but to he he was acting like a 9 year old
Not gonna lie. I went in wanting to love this movie. It ended up just being ok for me. I loved some moments. Every minute that Keaton was in the film was excellent. Loved the superman cameos. Other than that I found myself a little bored and underwhelmed. Am hoping a second watch will change my mind. Guardians 3 still has my vote for best movie so far this summer. It's still way early. We'll see
@@Darth_Raider8140bro I idk man this movie is a mess it’s just mid tbh, people legit walked out the theater a 1hr in. Some fellow teens said they should have spiderverse instead. Dc is gonna need a masterpiece to restore the trust in its audience cause nobody is gonna care about the future projects
First thing I wanna say is my dad LOVED this movie. He came out so happy. I really liked it. I didnt have issues with the CGI. My only issue is I wish they woulda done some stuff more like the Flashpoint comic. Having the Reverse Flash in this movie wouldve added a lot. He is the one who kills Barry's mom and they just glossed over who killed Barrys mom
@@nerychristian yeah they made it seem like it was just a random burglary which takes away so much from Flash's backstory. Especially when a lot of Flash fans have seen thr TV show
@@Sticks017 It was also strange that they took away from Batman's arc. I think in the comics, when the Flash changes the timeline, young Bruce is the one who gets killed in the alley. And Bruce's mom goes crazy and ends up becoming the Joker. And Bruce's dad ends up becoming Batman. That would have made the movie more interesting. And it would have made the meeting between Flash and Bruce's father more meaningful. And given Bruce's father a reason to want to help Barry. Since he would want the Flash to fix the timeline so Bruce can be alive instead of the father.
I felt like Barry mentored himself in many ways, in both directions to a certain extent. Damn good performance from Ezra playing both of those roles. He Ophan Blacked that shit.
Ehhh, he didn't reeeeally mentor Barry. He explained to him how the multiverse might work, but he didn't really give Barry any advice on how to be a hero or anything, except to just keep going. If anything, Barry mentored himself... literally. And by the end of the movie, Barry reaches his own conclusions, not due to anything Batman says or does, but because he has first-hand experience of how his meddling is fucking things up.
All your points are solid. Is CGI was less than we expect in the 21st century. Having said that, 'build a bridge and get over it.' how was the story? How was the acting? How are the cameos of future could have been? And what was I mean as a story, this show the range of acting that I didn't know as ramila could do after hearing the debacle of his mental health issues. Barry's mom, the actress was amazing. All the Batmans, bar none we're fantastic. The lesson learned or that was failed to be learned by Barry that was taught by his mom, that was fantastic, too: sometimes, there's no solution. Sometimes you have to let things go. Brutal. Look, I'm not ashamed to admit I was crying. I was devastated and wiped the tear off my cheek. That's the extent of my tearing up. That alone, gives the flash 5 out of 5 from me. Remember, CGI wasn't always around and it played so very little in the imagination of the story that was being told. Remember, there was COVID. Analyze the story. Analyze the acting. Will you drawn in? I was. The CGI. Just made me smile. If they redo it and fix the CGI I'll shrug. I already know the story. I don't need perfect. CGI to full into what the director is trying to convey. Anyway, I'm subscribed. Keep doing what you're doing. Katie sackhoff is fantastic. Great luck!
The day after I saw it I thought about it more and I think I have the best description for this film: I think The Flash is one of the best studio interference films we’ve ever had comic book wise or not. With how long this movie was in development and production at points you could feel how many hands were on this film. It’s not suicide squad (the original) though at least.😅 In terms of the major spoilers I have to be honest I’m a little bummed out that we saw Keaton and Sasha Callie’s version of Supergirl be lost. I hope she gets more roles in the future. I also just didn’t feel a lot when they were defeated. I didn’t feel like there was enough buildup for the moments. With regards to the sequence showcasing all the other different versions of the heroes that we’ve seen before in the past I thought a part of it actually looked a lot better than I thought it would but then when Nicolas Cage came on screen I knew immediately what people said when they mentioned it looked like video game graphics. Richard Donner and the other Supergirl were old footage while Cage was just a full on CG character. That scene itself as well definitely felt like they just added in there for the sake of it even though the context of why it’s there is important. I was actually very taken off guard at first when George Clooney showed up on screen questioning why he was there but then it took me a second to realize “oh ya he’s the most forgettable live action Batman”😅 Overall I think the movie is just all right definitely one of the better DC films we’ve had but it’s by no means great.
Barry fixed the timeline, the bad events that happened got reversed. Therefore either Keaton's Batman doesn't exist, or he reversed back the timeline to where Keaton's Batman is alive and well. Also, they made a point with the spaghetti where as Batman/Alfred are the consistent variables that always intersect. In this case, it can also be stated that Ben Affleck, George Clooney, and Michael Keaton are literally the same people. That's why Affleck and Keaton both said "not this time, but maybe some other time," to drive the point home. So when you see Clooney, you are seeing Keaton, but now modified because Barry moved the can up. In short, Keaton could totally come back and be Batman again imo
@@joey2894 I just assumed because Barry stopped himself from altering the timeline that Keaton universe stayed how it would have been with him alive and well and yes if they want Keaton can easily come back I believe if the Flash gets a sequel they will bring Keaton and Supergirl back for it unless Gunn wants nothing to do with this old DCU.
Cool review. I thought the "older" Supermans looked OK. I almost jumped out of my seat when I saw Christopher & Helen. Nic Cage was spoiled for me, but still really cool to see. I wonder if the guys from Corridor Crew could answer your question about Deepfake vs. De-aging. Maybe you have a connection to contact them? They seem like cool people. I enjoyed the movie! Ezra did a great job and I could separate the art from the artist.
I like the fact that 89 Batman completed his mission. EVERY Batman every on every Earth has a bad outcome. Good to know one of them completed his mission and could retire a recluse easting pasta.
For me this movies greatness came from 3 things. The biggest being I'm a massive DC fan of a particular ilk. As a 1988 baby, Batman Returns and the 1992 Batman Animated series all the way up to the current animated films and series that STILL are connected to that original Bruce Timm stuff. They officially ended it when The legendary voice of Batman passed away, but they were still putting out the animated series world films up until Right b4 Conroy passed. Without going too much into it, the stuff is fantastic. I've seen so many diffrent origins and classic stories through the series and Justice league/Young Justice etc...that for me, this ash movie was the FIRST TIME we got to see a classic DC lore story outside of the same old same old Batman or superman stuff. The Synder Cut and Aquaman/Wonder Woman stuff was fantastic but it had an Alex Ross vibe maybe...but not that pure DC colorful world energy to it. For me the Flash had that, it was an animated DC film come to life. Mesmerizing for me. For a non animated DC fan it's just sort of whatever in that regard tho. Next is the action. Ingot was entertained by the action. It aas well directed and smart and fun. Just captivating. They actually thought about it. Third would be the heart that they added. I didn't fully buy into it, but i appreciated it. I recognize that the movie had a ton of flaws, yet somehow still loved it. I wouldnt argue with anyone who wasn't a fan of the film tho, I get it.
I think that time warp zone they kept going into was supposed to like like and inside out Zoetrope, so they had things intentionally look a bit plastic, like little statues. They probably didn't go far enough. If they had've stylized it a bit more, maybe made all of those multiple versions of the characters and semi frozen events out of stone or something like little statues it would have read better as a Zoetrope. I figure that's what they were refencing. A shitty Zoetrope. Yeah, there were a lot of bad comps and some REALLY bad fire and smoke sims. But I didn't really care. Not many films are in the position to have WETA, DNEG, FREAMESTORE or ILM do all of the effects for a whole film. All of those little companies they get on board for one or two shots can really drag a film down. And if they're constantly getting notes from the studio close to release and rushing things out, it's a recipe for disaster. It's only the absolute biggest swinging dick directors in Hollywood these days that get the top tier Quality Control on the VFX.
The Director said the CGI was done like that on purpose. It was Barry’s perspective because how fast he was going. I don’t believe that shit lol I think Warner Bros. didn’t want to dish out any more money.
@ 11:05, To be fair, it was like that in the source material. In The Flashpoint Paradox, we get even less of Superman. Literally one breakout scene and then he disappears until the very end. The only thing you could argue, is how deceiving all the promotional material is. How her presence on every poster or trailer implies a bigger role.
I didn't mind the CGI in the time ball thing, forgot what he called it. Like CLU in Tron Legacy, he looked fake but you can kind of give it a pass because his character was supposed to be digital anyway. The people Barry saw in the "time ball" were sort of hypothetical scenarios. I think it played just fine. The other "bad" CGI were the babies, but I believe they intentionally made them look less real to lighten up the mood because when you first see them flying out the window, it's a pretty dark sight.
Calle is spanish for street. The 'll' makes like a 'y' sound in english. So 'ka ye' or 'ka je' phonetically I guess, (They never taught me phonetics when I was a kid but oddly they told my daughter. )So the second way you were pronouncing it is closest for a non spanish speaking person.
I just saw The Flash at theater today. Definitely worth every penny. A great icredible movie anyway you slice it. Special effects Writting acting. Alot a surprises. Go see it for yourself. I would say that the two best movies so far this year are the The Flash andJohn Wick 4. And I even like the Flash much more than John Wick 4.. Would Like to see more of the Flash and the new timelined Super Girl . Who really nailed the part. Michael Keaton was perfect.
Your the first channel I went 2 after watching this movie a couple hours ago. I had to hear your take.. cgi was my only gripe.. This was the only DC movie that had REAL emotion for me....I enjoyed that. I hope DC does more of this in the future. Thanx for your cool ass channel!
The chase scene with Affleck on the Batcycle was filmed on St. Vincent Street in my home town of Glasgow in Scotland. Which is the exact same street where they filmed the astronauts parade scene in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Although it's not so obvious as it is decked out to look like late 1960s America. While it's so cool to see it in these franchises that I love it is a bit of a double edged sword as it does take you out of the film a bit. The unreleased Batgirl film, The Batman (actually filmed a few streets away), Brad Pitt getting chased by zombies in World War Z and the Fast franchise were also filmed along the street. To name only some.
I'm assuming with all the Ezra stuff building up during post production the studio put less ($,$$$,$$$) effort on the CGI part, thinking it may not be worth the time and money to go high quality on the CGI.
After seeing The Flash these are the best DCEU movies in order in my opinion 1. Zack Snyder’s Justice League 2. Man of Steel 3. Wonder Woman 4. Batman vs Superman: Ultimate Edition 5. The Flash 6. The Suicide Squad 7. Black Adam 8. Aquaman 9. Suicide Squad 10. Shazam 11. Wonder Woman 1984 12. Shazam Fury of the Gods 13. Birds of Prey
It was painfully average with some heartfelt scenes Spider-verse just came out two weeks ago and it's just so much better than this. And yea, Keaton was a good Batman but his pull isn't Tobey or Andrew, sorry. It's been decades and many adaptations since
Hey man, your mic is not evenly mono in your recordings. The right channel is slightly louder than the left. Maybe a knob got knocked on accident. I noticed when you have guests on, their audio is also the same. So it could be your mixer or a level in OBS or whatever software you edit with. It’s just not mono audio. It’s been like this for months btw.
When I saw Nicholas Cage I immediately thought of Schnepp. This movie was better than most DCEU movies…but that’s not really high praise. A few lines pulled me out of it (with Ezra’s personal stuff) but they did good overall. Some great DC cameos but overall it’s a 6.5/10 for me. Tbh most of the reason I saw it was so I won’t be lost for Capes & Cowls 😂
A couple of issues I had other than CGI that looked unfinished... 1. Barry's roommates seemed too aware or knowledgeable about what/who Barry was talking about/searching for. 2. When they go back in time again, there should be 4 Barrys. And multiplying each time, correct?
Facts! Also Barry is just revealing everyones identity like a dumbass. I said the same thing at the end…they popped back in when their feet were touching. That would most definitely make it four…should be countless because they kept going back
I was truly to see Nicolas Cage version of Superman! It got me kind of intrigued to see how that movie would have turned out. The Clooney nod was awesome even though I hated Batman And Robin and still do. But I know Clooney has fun with how bad that film is. I really liked the film. I'm just happy DC gave us a fun flick especially growing up on the original 1990 Flash tv show.
Yeah I'll agree the cgi was bad to be noticable. But I'll enjoyed it, a lot laughs and tons of surprises . I thought it was clever that the time period switched actors who plays Marty McFly . Because originally they had Eric Stoltz to play Marty McFly of unseen footage. And Nicholas Cage as Superman Lives a crowd pleaser!👍👍
Dude this movie was so rad, your right about the cgi, but I could be wrong the cgi in the time travel stuff was supposed to look like that. Seeing Keaton kick ass as Batman made me all giddy again like it was 1989 again
seeing nick cage as superman brought back memories of Jon schnepp rip Jon we miss he lives on through the internet I think andy muschietti saw death of superman lives documentary because the spider fight is right out of the storyboard for the unmade movie
I watched the CinemaCon version too... They changed the ending scene in the theatrical cut?! Seriously?! That original ending was perfect! "Who the fuck is that?"
Very solid film and I would love for some sort of sequel. I think we all know who killed Norma but I would love to see a conclusion to this. Unfortunately it looks like we won’t get Keaton again, but the fact that they teased Clooney at the end would be neat to see a redemption for his Batman instead of a one off. I’m sure he would be down for it just because he came in for this cameo. Even though Keaton would be great for a Batman Beyond I think Clooney could do it as well since we know his Batman has already been with a Robin.
Since the set photos i thought the idea was Keaton was going to be the Batman that stay... I feel they did a reshoot with Clooney so people doesnt want more from the Batman
@@lytaquiroz1524 The movie had like 3 different endings one ending was Keaton and Supergirl showed up having somehow been sent over to the DCEU main timeline and Bat Fleck was lost in time trying to contact Barry for help to find him setting up for a Flash sequel. This was going to be how Keaton continued to be in the Batgirl movie which was to be after The Flash but since Bat Girl was cancelled and Gunn is rebooting that changed the ending to a joke scene with Clooney for laughs.
Shoutout to Jon Schnepp who directed the death of “Superman Lives” documentary which covered the cancelled nicolas cage superman movie. I hope he’s somewhere smiling after seeing that cameo in the flash. R.I.P
Controversy aside, the opening action looked great then became really dumb. Then it got very slow, the jokes don't hit and while CGI didn't really bother me, it was bad. The last hour was very good. Young Barry was irritating AF... And I've got two sons around that age lol.
I really enjoyed the movie from The Flash being one of my favorite Comic book characters and from the ending being one of my favorites growing up without spoiling anything that was one of my favorite things ever...not better then Across The Spider verse I think they handle the multiverse very well and hope too see more of it on the DC side in the future 💯 I do believe it was a nostalgia thing for me but I definitely understand the criticisms as far as the CGI and other things involving Ezra Miller...great review Kristian #MayTheForceBeWithYou & too the family always ❤️💪🏾
The Flash was an awesome movie. I loved Michael Keaton coming back as Batman for the 3rd and final time. He's always been my favorite live action Batman of all time. He really stole the movie in my eyes. The CGI could've been better but then hey, we all seen some movies that have terrible CGI.
VFX artist here - I didn’t work on this film, but I’d be happy to discuss my take and understanding on how some of this stuff works if that insight would be valuable!
I sat in the best seat in my cinema (centre) so what i saw was so amazing and fun, fast, the best DC movie so far this year. 10 out of 10 for me I will be seeing this movie again and again. crazy Junemania.
Idk if youve noticed but i did right away everytime both ezras are together in one shot one looks normal and the other ones face has the uncanny effect
The multiverse explanation makes no sense. I still don't understand how Barry changing his past changes even the timeline BEFORE the events that he changed. But I enjoyed the movie enough, and it's light enough and emotionally involving enough that I could easily overlook it while watching it. And the George Clooney cameo at the end is HILARIOUS! There wasn't much of an audience with me, but what audience there were all erupted in laughter with Clooney's arrival at the end. But that bit of it being Robert Pattinson was interesting. Trying to tie this into The Batman would have been cool. But I loved seeing Clooney so I definitely won't complain.
I hear many critics saying the CGI was so bad it takes away from the movie. I wasn't bothered by the CGI. Other things bothered me like Batman being bulletproof. I know the suit can stop bullets from penetrating into his body but being shot so many times has to hurt. I was also bothered that if you can go back into the past to put a tomato sauce can in a basket why can't you go back and time and see how your mother died? He could go back and at least see who did it. Ultimately in my opinion this movie was the best in showing how time travel and multiverse can work in harmony. The final scene when his dad goes free was a great plot twist. Immediately I knew he was not in his original timeline because he saw earlier that the Wayne video did not exonerate his dad. But in this other universe it did. And Clooney coming out of the car as Bruce Wayne was another stroke of genius. I liked the movie and give it a 7 out of 10 rating. If the story is good, then I could care less about the quality of the CGI.
Really enjoyed it. It's full of stuff that I'll enjoy on a rewatch. It was funny, entertaining and emotional (especially if you've lost your parents) Only the final desert fight was a bit flat. Missed the credit scene. How did it fit in to the end?
Movie was dope! Other then the CGI in the First Act of the Movie!!! But let’s see how the “crisis on infinite earths” look like after flash ends up on another earth
It wasn’t the CGI that made this movie so-so for me. It was the humor and story. A lot of the humor in this movie didn’t hit for me, it was eye-roll-y. That being said I can see why James Gunn spoke so highly of this movie, it was his type of humor. The difference however with this and Guardians is the humor in those movies feels earned. The general audience doesn’t have the same investment in The Flash vs a Star Lord or Drax. Also, I don’t think the story was as strong as other super hero movies. I do love how they handled time travel and the multiverse. That spaghetti analogy was *chef’s kiss*
The opening sequence was balls to the wall entertainment, with some cool moments with the Justice League members. The humor is sharp and the action is dynamic and full of personality. And then the story gets going and we get some great emotional scenes regarding Barry's father and mother. One of my personal favorite moments from the film is Affleck's Bruce Wayne having a talk with Barry about the dangers of time travel and how our scars mold us into who we are. After this point, I was completely invested. The whacky and over the top moments really did work for me, up until Keaton is introduced. This is when I could feel how jarring the changes in tone were. Burton's vision of Batman didn't really line up with the world that had been set up for this movie. Sure, Keaton is a great comedic actor, but there was something about his introduction that just didn't work for me. The reveal of the batsuits, and ultimately Batman himself, eased me back into comfortable territory, though, as far as consistency with what Burton had established. Overall, it was great seeing Michael Keaton back in the batsuit--he just embodies the character so effortlessly. Supergirl is awesome and is easily one of my favorite aspects of the movie. By the final act, I was entertained, but not as invested in the characters as I was hoping. There were points where I felt certain transitions leading up to the finale were rushed, and as soon as the multiverse sequence with all of the cameos started to happen, the movie felt as if it was collapsing under its own weight--too much going on; needed to be tighter. A much funnier film than I had expected--a great movie to see with an audience, and obviously, seeing Keaton back as Batman was epic, but the shifts in tone were distracting and the story got bogged down near the end for me. 7/10 What are your thoughts?
I agree with everything except for Barry, I couldnt get passed if he was mentally ill, or was he intentionally was he supposed to talk like a 5 year old. Both versions for me made me think my cousin who is barely a functioning autistic person had better communication and behavioral skills than Barry
Sums up my thoughts well too. The opening was awesome. Humor and super speed, outside the terrible CGI, were great. The emotional parts are best and while it's still not ideal for the first Flash film, both Batmen played off well with the Barrys who are still the star(s) of the film.
I thought it was a lot of fun. Yeah sure, there was some crappy CG here and there, but that's what happens when 40+ separate VFX companies are involved. QC goes out the window to a certain extent. But hey, overall it was a fun ride. Keaton doing Lebowski meets drunken master cracked me up. They shoulda put him in the actual Lebowski costume. The Stoltz/Fox/Bacon conversation was classic.
I feel like I’m 100% this time with how you view this film. Love the story, hated the CGI. My fear for Batman Brave and the Bold would be that Andy keep this style of CGI consistent throughout his DC FIlms. He claimed it was on purpose but i don’t think anybody is falling for that. I don’t want my Batman and that story to have that black cloud hanging over it. I pray James fixes that QUICK.
I hope they get a better director of photography. I didn't like the visuals too much in this film. It was inconsistent and reminded me of the last Ant Man movie.
My favorite film of the year so far. Cgi could've been better but i enjoyed everything else so much it didn't really bother me. Amazing direction and acting
About that deepfake question... I work in CGI so in a few words, there are multiple techniques to de-age actors. Deepfake gives great results when they work, but they don't always work and you basically have no control over the results. You are stuck with what comes out of this black box technology. If you want a different result, you have to retrain the entire AI model with a different or adjusted set of reference data banks and you cross your fingers hoping the results will be better. That's why a lot of companies will train different models for specific actions (example, looking in a specific direction, emoting a specific emotion... the more specific the references, the more likely the results will be good). It takes a lot of time and data to train a good model, with no guarantee of success and you need good high-resolution references if you want your results to come out with enough details. We are expecting 4K+ high quality results that will hold up on IMAX screens here, so that is a very high bar to reach and deepfakes aren't always capable of reaching that high bar. It's very difficult to get the exact results that are expected by our clients using deepfakes. Clients are always asking for very specific changes. It can be as ridiculous as complaining about small details like a few strands of hair that aren't reacting exactly like they want - type of demands. Since you have no control over that stuff with deepfakes, most vfx studios prefer to go down a full 3D CG workflow instead. It's more work to get good results, but you have full control over every detail. If you need to change anything, you already have controls to make small adjustments, which aren't present in deepfake technology... not yet anyway. There are also a lot of 2D techniques that can be used, but those are basically painting frame by frame the changes you want. You can also train AI to do some of the long labour intensive steps of 3D or 2D techniques. This helps accelerate the workflow, can pick-up on little details a normal human would never pick-up and be able to replicate, and you maintain full control of every step along the way. It's not every studio that has the resources to train and develop such tools though. Ultimately, we use a combination of all these techniques. Luke Skywalker in Boba Fett is not just deep fakes. It's a workflow that tries various deep fake techniques first, then falls back on 3D AI workflows if the deep fakes don't work and finally, some human hand-made adjustments are used to finish up the shots. But these are all new technologies usually developed and customized by each vfx studio. There is no one magic solution and every one is experimenting and adding their own custom special sauce to make it work. The nature of the shots also will yield very different quality of results depending on which technique is used. So yeah, this is a quick overview of where the technology is at and why we get various levels of results. Everyone is still experimenting and learning what these technologies can do, so that's why you see inconsistent results from project to project right now. I hope that helps.
I didn't like the movie but I think some problems is WB showed wayyy too much and held too many free screenings and said it was one of the best superhero films of all time when it's in fact not even top 50(IMO). The best test screenings since TDK? Come on WB. It's definitely not the worst DCEU film. The biggest flaw of the film besides the bad CGI is expectations were too high

I thought they needed Zod to create a situation that flash supergirl and batman couldn't win, which led to the repeated attempts.
The ending was supposed to be Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne. There was even set photos. It was supposed to be leading into the Batgirl movie that got shelved.
The wide shot of Kara holding Barry before the lightning strike is one of my favorite visuals in a movie ever.
She was great, the movie was so good!
Speaking of intersections in the spaghetti, this comment is where hyperbole meets recency bias. It was pretty cool all the same.
@@robertdouble559 😄
I thought the movie was ehh but yes, that shot was pretty dope. Kara was a cool character
Yep. Featuring the mechanical Spider mentioned in the Schnepp doc made me laugh my ass off!
How did you watch the documentary? I cant find it anywhere
@husker4life109 it was several years ago, you know how things are with streaming services, one months the movie is there, next month it's gone. Amazon may have it for rent/purchase. It's well worth a watch.
@@husker4life109 I watched it here on UA-cam years ago. I'm not sure if it's still on UA-cam or not.
As a Marvel (Spiderman) fan I'm disappointed this film isn't getting it's flowers because I genuinely can't wait to see it again 😢
I don’t know why The Reverse Flash wasn’t involved in this movie. He would have been a great villain.
I wondered if we would get any indication that it was him who killed Barry's mom, but no such suggestion of it being him.
@@OneGaurdian yea I heard he is in part 2
They saved it for a sequel...
Based on the box office performance there might not be a sequel
They did another Suicide Squad because Gunn wanted to do it so maybe a Flash 2 if Batman DCU movie is a hit for director...
One of the best things in the movie was when Batman admitted that he would have accomplished more if he had fought poverty instead of criminals. 🤷♂️
And apparently the bad cgi was on purpose.
What I would give to see Schnepp’s reaction to the little scene of Nic Cage’s Superman
Those few moments of Nicolas Cage made me cry. I cannot stop wandering of what Jon Schnepp would have think about this movie.
Thank you. I'm glad I wasn't the only one it caught me by surprise, then the emotions hit,
and I was crying and weeping
Miss Schnepp ❤
My wife and I were very surprised to see Nicolas Cage
i was thinking the same thing, he'd be talking about it with RMB on heroes the next day for sure
I think he would have loved a lot of it :)
That’s exactly what I thought when I seen Cage. I said to myself “death of Superman: WHAT HAPPENED!?”…. Rip king of sweats 😢
If the babies looked realistic, it would’ve been a shocking scene rather than a comedic/action intro scene.
After watching The Flash, just imagine a Ben Affleck Batman movie… Those first few minutes with that version of Batman was amazing. Sucks that we’ll never see it happen.
I do wish we could get more but just this movie alone made up for a lot of DC heartbreak.
100 percent agreed but at least we will get something close to that because the Flash's director will be directing the new Batman movie
That was the worst part of the movie. Affleck's Batman suit looked horrible.
I would have preferred a batfleck movie over what we got in the Batman
Totally agree. I disliked this movie overall, but the sequence you’re talking about may be the best Batman action scene ever put to film.
I hope James keeps Sasha as supergirl
Me too, she was super cool!
She's gone
Only aquaman is staying. Did you pick up the hint in the post credit scene
She was great
@@mikerotonda6264actually none of them are staying.
😂the cgi help
Love it
@@Wyatt6661 100000%
The way you pronounced Sasha's last name the second time is correct way man
I believe the baby CGI was somewhat intentional because if they looked more realistic it would be a really dark scene. A baby literally goes in a microwave lol. I believe it was an artistic choice to keep the mood light and funny.
Then why not just get rid of the microwave? It was still a little disturbing to see the baby in a microwave, or almost getting stabbed by medical knives.
The director claims the bad cgi was intentional but still it looked horrific with the baby scene
people like to knit pick everything, next time we shoudl have them use real babies eh ! lol
@james williams, the director did mention the baby scene CGI as intentional as a POV of the Flash.
Man that wasn’t no artist choice…the CGI is terrible through the whole movie..They just put out some half ass shit
We'll see

The way they tied in the cctv footage of his dad not looking up the camera to Barry looking up the camera in the final act was masterful storytelling
Really? That’s what counts as masterful these days?
Just say you like it, masterful is a stretch.
I love how it’s kinda a throwback to the video we see of Barry when n BvS. So cool.
@@JustinLatham I mean it's very creative and excuted perfectly dont know why it's such a big deal to you if I say it
They end up undoing Barry’s arc when he made a change that caused his dad to look up. He still messed with the timeline at the very end
I was surprised that they gave Supergirl more dialogue than I thought that they would’ve gave her but I wanted more though as well.
True. It was weird that they didn't show who actually killed the mom.
@@nerychristian yeah that's what happens in the comics but I'm happy they just have us Keaton as an older Batman.
An animated superman lives with the looks of Nic cage, would be great
I loved how Michael Keaton’s Batman is like Alec Guinness’s Obi-Wan Kenobi in the film by coming back and mentoring the new hero of the story.
..did you actually watch this thing yet? Because if you did, you’d see he doesn’t actually mentor anyone.
@@t7489 Of course I watched it. Apparently you didn’t, though. 💀
@@robertdouble559 Yes, Barry mentored himself but Keaton’s Batman did too.
Love the background, Kristian!
It’s not suicide squad (the original) though at least.😅
In terms of the major spoilers I have to be honest I’m a little bummed out that we saw Keaton and Sasha Callie’s version of Supergirl be lost.
I was actually very taken off guard at first when George Clooney showed up on screen questioning why he was there but then it took me a second to realize “oh ya he’s the most forgettable live action Batman”😅
Overall I think the movie is just all right definitely one of the better DC films we’ve had but it’s by no means great.
@@joey2894 well hopefully it's the same for Sasha Calle
@@joey2894 I just assumed because Barry stopped himself from altering the timeline that Keaton universe stayed how it would have been with him alive and well and yes if they want Keaton can easily come back I believe if the Flash gets a sequel they will bring Keaton and Supergirl back for it unless Gunn wants nothing to do with this old DCU.
I'm excited for the Katee podcast, and the fact you're producing it is so cool !
Can we expect collaborations between the two shows ?
Mr. Harloff. Where did you get that T shirt sir. Love it!!!
"Emancipated " lol....emaciated.
Have you ever read or watced the animated Flashpoint Paradox? Highly recommend to anyone that hasn’t
Better than this film for sure
I like the fact that 89 Batman completed his mission. EVERY Batman every on every Earth has a bad outcome. Good to know one of them completed his mission and could retire a recluse easting pasta.
Through the movie and Barry watching his younger self sacrifice himself he still didn’t learn his lesson. He moved the can to save his dad
I think the CGI artists thought they were working on Batgirl. "This shit will be cancelled anyways..."
Was Anyone else expecting to see Selina Kyle show up somewhere during the movie. At least a picture of her in the mansion would’ve been nice.
I thought exactly that - I was like "oh sh*t - are they really going with this?" But Barry's reaction made me laugh out loud
Or like Kanye, but without the n.

Your the first channel I went 2 after watching this movie a couple hours ago. I had to hear your take.. cgi was my only gripe.. This was the only DC movie that had REAL emotion for me....I enjoyed that. I hope DC does more of this in the future. Thanx for your cool ass channel!
I thought the movie was just ok, but I'm glad a lot of you guys enjoyed it. 💯
Ist act was good, 3rd act was good, 2 act was a mess. Overall good movie.. they needed Henry Cavhil.
How was Barry supposed to get his powers if he didn't work at the crime lab yet? Why would he have been in the building?
Facts lol
The speedforce cgi was intentional.
After seeing The Flash these are the best DCEU movies in order in my opinion
1. Zack Snyder’s Justice League
2. Man of Steel
3. Wonder Woman
4. Batman vs Superman: Ultimate Edition
5. The Flash
6. The Suicide Squad
7. Black Adam
8. Aquaman
9. Suicide Squad
10. Shazam
11. Wonder Woman 1984
12. Shazam Fury of the Gods
13. Birds of Prey

I liked most of the movie, but they spent way too much time in the time travel bubble with the uncanny valley cgi kaleidoscope of wax people
"Calle" pronunciation: "KAAH!!! - JYeh!!"
It was painfully average with some heartfelt scenes
Spider-verse just came out two weeks ago and it's just so much better than this. And yea, Keaton was a good Batman but his pull isn't Tobey or Andrew, sorry. It's been decades and many adaptations since
👍🏿 Nice review, sir. 👍🏿 You're the first one I've seen to mention Robert Pattinson as being one of the potential cameos at the end.

On a side note…the Harloff/Sheridan shelf game is on point…look at them floating books people!!
That would most definitely make it four…should be countless because they kept going back
Not playing just yet but glad to know this is here.
Sasha CAY-yay. Like street in Spanish. Enjoyed your breakdown!
Number two and love your stuff! This movie is so fun and that is a breath of fresh air.
My gripe is the pacing, CGI and they don't explain or show his mom getting stabbed.
Does all the nostalgia they crammed in really matter for the story or is it just in there so people point and clap and say “hey I remember him!”
It works. Just about everything works, Really good movie.
Great review! I felt the CGI was a little off as well but enjoyed the movie overall.
Killer BTTF shirt too, mate
If they do a sequel with it being a multiverse they can have Clooney and Keaton why not both lol.
I never came out of a movie wanting Spaghetti so bad, in my life
The Flash was an awesome movie. I loved Michael Keaton coming back as Batman for the 3rd and final time. He's always been my favorite live action Batman of all time. He really stole the movie in my eyes. The CGI could've been better but then hey, we all seen some movies that have terrible CGI.
If the CGI is as bad as it was in the trailer then it is bad to a comical degree especially for a movie that costed this much
@@R17759 it’s not.

But let’s see how the “crisis on infinite earths” look like after flash ends up on another earth
very curious as to what happened with the vfx too, what is the reasoning behind it, i can't imagine being in post going, yep thats good enough lol
Great movie. Loved seeing the other Supermen. Keaton was the highlight.
Andy has a 4 hour cut.
7/10
What are your thoughts?
I agree with everything except for Barry, I couldnt get passed if he was mentally ill, or was he intentionally was he supposed to talk like a 5 year old. Both versions for me made me think my cousin who is barely a functioning autistic person had better communication and behavioral skills than Barry
Sums up my thoughts well too. The opening was awesome. Humor and super speed, outside the terrible CGI, were great. The emotional parts are best and while it's still not ideal for the first Flash film, both Batmen played off well with the Barrys who are still the star(s) of the film.
18:14 The Bold and the beautiful, Jesus I'm old haha
I thought it was a lot of fun. Yeah sure, there was some crappy CG here and there, but that's what happens when 40+ separate VFX companies are involved. QC goes out the window to a certain extent. But hey, overall it was a fun ride. Keaton doing Lebowski meets drunken master cracked me up. They shoulda put him in the actual Lebowski costume. The Stoltz/Fox/Bacon conversation was classic.

The Flash is the best Batman film I've seen in years.
The Batman wasn’t that long ago lol,
I feel like I’m 100% this time with how you view this film.
I hope that helps.
just got back from seeing it and i’m surprised so many people think it’s terrible but it’s a cool 7-8 out of 10 for me
I wish christian bale showed up at the end . That would have been. Incredible
Is this movie out?
Should've been Brad Pitt at the end as an alt BruceWayne, epic, lololol
I didn't like the movie but I think some problems is WB showed wayyy too much and held too many free screenings and said it was one of the best superhero films of all time when it's in fact not even top 50(IMO). The best test screenings since TDK? Come on WB. It's definitely not the worst DCEU film.
The biggest flaw of the film besides the bad CGI is expectations were too high
Congrats on the Katee Sackoff gig!!!!!!-BIG FAN since her Bionic Woman Reboot/Battlestar Gallatica days!-Can't wait 2 see one of Fav UA-camrs with a Mandalorian-AWESOME!!!!!!🤩🤯😎💯!!!
