Did my top 40 favorite movies of all-time last night and then I slimmed it down to 20 to save space on my Z Flip3 because I want to put Dreamcast ROMs onto it. My list changes all the time but I went back to my original top 8 that lasted for over a decade.... 1. The Shawshank Redemption 2. Casino 3. Goodfellas 4. Back to the Future Part II 5. Back to the Future 6. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure 7. Maverick 8. Let it Ride 9. Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood 10. The Big Lebowski 11. Hot Tub Time Machine 12. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels 13. Elvis 14. Air 15. Kingpin 16. Dumb and Dumber 17. Some Like It Hot 18. History of the World Part I 19. Pulp Fiction 20. Django Unchained No Star Wars, MCU, Indiana Jones, and The Godfather made the cut. Mainly because I enjoy listening to my films while my phone screen is off. There are tons of action scenes in MCU, SW, and IJ, so I don't see them. Most of my favorites are geared towards comedy. Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit were tough cuts I had to make as well as Top Gun: Maverick which I watched 18x in the theater. Elvis did make my top 15 because I saw that 23x in the theater and since it's mostly Elvis music videos/concerts mixed together, it's highly listenable. I had tears coming out of my eyes from Top Gun: Maverick and Elvis. TG: M is a better version of A New Hope and The Force Awakens with no stupid planet killer. Sure, it's Navy propaganda like the 1986 original and there are some dumb Mission: Impossible moments in it. But it made me respect all military for sacrificing their lives for their nation and didn't try to be WOKE although it had a more diverse cast. The next 20... 21. The Hateful Eight 22. Jojo Rabbit 23. Thor: Ragnarok 24. There's Something About Mary 25. Dazed and Confused 26. Top Gun: Maverick 27. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade 28. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 29. The Empire Strikes Back 30. Revenge of the Sith 31. Avengers: Infinity War 32. A New Hope 33. Return of the Jedi 34. The Godfather 35. The Godfather Part II 36. Forrest Gump 37. Captain America: The Winter Soldier 38. Wild Hogs 39. Dumb and Dumber To 40. Back to the Future Part III Damn, I love a lot of those movies from #21-#40. I consider The Godfather I and II to be the GOATs of cinema. I'm aware Wild Hogs and Dumb and Dumber To aren't well received but I still adore those films. There's tons of movies I enjoy whether they're considered good or bad by critics. Wild Hogs used to be high on my list and in my top 20. The Last Crusade used to be in my top 15. Revenge of the Sith or Infinity War? That's almost like a coin toss for me. I consider Infinity War the best MCU film ever made over the more overrated and bloated Endgame from it's deus ex machina time travel shenanigans. It's a better film than ROTS but I have some bias towards ROTS since I saw it 3x in the same week and it holds a little more emotional weight. I couldn't even include Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Easy A, Fanboys, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, The Forbidden Kingdom, Operation Condor, The Goonies, The Sandlot, Real Steel, 8-Bit Christmas, Home Alone 1 & 2, She's Out of My League, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, Enter the Dragon, Gladiator, Braveheart, Troy, or any Spider-Man or Batman film in my top 40. Yes, no to The Dark Knight. Nolan films can be so slow, boring, and confusing. I rarely have the urge to rewatch a lot of Christopher Nolan's films. The Prestige is my 2nd favorite Nolan film and it doesn't make my top 100. I enjoy The Lord of the Rings films but they actually won't make my top 100 favs either. I've seen them a few times which includes the superior Extended Editions and that's about it. It's a franchise that I admire but I'm not into it like I'm not into Harry Potter. I did enjoy Civil War and Endgame but being such a big Iron Man fan, I don't enjoy watching him lose or die in it. I saw both multiple times in the theater but they don't give me that urge to rewatch them. And The Avengers in 2012 was amazing when I first saw it but it has pacing issues and the designs of their costumes became dated. There are movies I first enjoyed when they first came out like Face/Off but didn't remain my favorite as time passed. My all-time favorite animated film is The Emperor's New Groove and then the more common answer: The Lion King (1994). Yet, no animated film makes my top 100. Not Across the Spider-Verse either. I'm already burnt out from superhero content. The only animated stuff I tend to rewatch are Family Guy, Futurama, and Mike Judge's Beavis and Butt-Head. I prefer Family Guy from Season 2 through 4, Futurama's first 4 before Comedy Central and then Hulu, and the newer stuff for Beavis and Butt-Head. I went back to include Silicon Valley on my Z Flip3. And then I'm planning to put back Loki but in 1080p as I prefer it takes up the entire screen when played on the 1.9" cover display. Loki is the only MCU content for that phone. I'm aware Season 2 didn't receive scores as high as Season 1, but I absolutely adore the entire series. Everything from the characters to the music to the lighting is perfect. Natalie Holt needs to be applauded for her score. "He Who Remains", "TVA", and "Pruned" all sound epic. If Letterboxd asked me my four favorite films, it could change every day. Today, it's Shawshank, Casino, Goodfellas, and BTTF2. Pulp Fiction used to be my No. 4 and Forrest Gump at No. 5 but they faded for me the last 8 years. Then tomorrow my four favorites could be BTTF2, BTTF, Bill & Ted 1, and Maverick (1994). All I know is Back to the Future is my favorite IP of all-time. Way more rewatchable than Star Wars and MCU. I wouldn't love time travel content like Bill & Ted, Hot Tub Time Machine, and Loki without watching Back to the Future first.
The action scenes in Winter Soldier and Civil War were stellar so I get them wanting to get those right. Winston makes a good point about saying this is a cover for writing Sabra out of the movie. It would make a lot of sense.
Twisted Metal was really fun and good. Mackie is very charismatic, dude can go from funny to serious in a second. KH is right tho, he hasn't been #1 in a FILM yet. I think he can.
Short answer; NO. Christopher Reeve is the reigning champion. I can't see him being beaten. You might get better FX and better writing, and perhaps a better movie\show in general but you'll be hard pressed to find a better Superman.
Here’s an interesting bit of speculation that’s literally just dropped, Joseph Quinn was scheduled to be attending a comic con in the U.K. this coming weekend and he was booked as a last minute replacement for a previous drop out. However, he has just pulled out too now, despite flights being booked etc… it’s been noted that he’s suddenly got work commitments and many think due to the fact he isn’t being rescheduled to attend a later date (as is usual for this events company) that he may have booked something quite big and with a long term commitment… the speculation going round is Fantastic Four.
I'm surprised you guys didn't discuss The Marvel's box office performance, I remember the panel had predictions. Edit: also not sure if you're aware but the video lags a lot when you switch to close up shot, especially on Coy.
It’s not necessarily the same demo as Wonka or Aquaman but THE COLOR PURPLE also comes out on Christmas Day and is Warner Bros as well! So, Warner Bros has THREE movies coming out within 10 days of each other this Christmas. Again, different demos but all three are very much anticipated and of the same studio… Just wanna put that out there!
Hoult I think is a great choice for a young Lex but McAvoy is actually not a bad one either. But he was already Professor X and to me I think a new actor, albeit one who also started off in the young X Men cast too like Hoult will work just a good for Luthor. Outside of that the Beast role, as demonstrated by everything from the Menu to Mad Max, Hoult can play intense and has both charisma as well as range. I've seen him play bastards in certain films. One escapes me where he played a lover of Elle Fannings' years. Plus in The Menu, the guy has developed a method of being able to go to very dark places. So yes he will work as Lex or at least seems like a 180 from someone like Eisenberg. But outside of Hackman and Rosenbuam being the two best choices casting wise for Lex even to this day, if they wanted to go with an older Luthor , Kelsey Grammar would be perfect. Beast, both actors were kind of pigenhold with the limitations of that role considering their talent. As far as it was written for those X Men films. Jimmy Olsen's casting seems visually good though, kind of Marc McClure- ish. I'm surprised he actually after Supergirl (the series) he wasn't race swapped, actually.
Hey @TheKristianHarloff this comment is gonna be such a small gripe, but love your content and pay for it. The recordings consistently have an issue with dropped frames. So if you need some help on how to fix this, please reach out. I love the content especially the comedy! I just want to help so that way the frame rate is consistent and allows the viewers to enjoy the content as much as the effort you put into making it. Cheers
God I hope we can get an amazing composer who brings a unique theme and score we haven't heard before. Whoever he or she is, they have some big shoes to fill that can rival hans zimmer and John Williams. Yeah and I agree I love John Ottman's score for Superman returns. It's such an underrated movie.
@@Redjack10 Thinking about it, they're close in range, meaning little to NO range, but the guy is menacing and has gravitas, N.Holt has jittery, anxious energy too him, is that what L.Luthor is like, and where? Except that BvS shit-show. xD Glad you could make your self laugh.
I know I'm probably starting to sound like a broken record but can we get some more Gen V talk next week? Or Invincible? Both are excellent and should be talked about more.
FYI guys, this is not a WB film DC is its own studio, and has no interferrence from WB. so while YES this is huge - but its huge for DC as a studio and not so much WB.
James Gunn made me hyped for DC as nothing before. Maybe The Batman made me happy too 😊 I never was a DC fan but now MCU is bad and Im excited to see fresh air in CBM
Can't wait for Superman Legacy to prove every naysayer wrong and bring us hope (haha) and actually get us excited for DC again 2025 can't come sooner ❤❤
Nicholas Hoult is a great pick. Of course he can play a level 10th intellect based on Beast. Will be good to see him stretch his acting talent to portray Superman's arch enemy. I almost want him to keep the British accent, makes him more a more credible villain.
I’m glad Marvel is doing reshoots on Cap 4. Means they’re seriously scrutinizing their movies now, and spending big money to fix flaws. Reshoots can only help. Maybe if they did reshoots of The Marvels it might have been good. Excited for DC’s new Superman. Great discussion as always guys!
That’s not what that means at all. All of their movies undergo reshoots, and lately that hasn’t amounted to much. Reshoots even brought down the third act of Shang Chi
@@famousthaneus9810bud, the reshoots that they’re doing by for daredevil and captain America are signs that they are starting to at least REALIZE that their projects have been subpar at best recently. They need to start rethinking their strategy when it comes to making these projects. If they keep it up, it will definitely get worse.
One thing I'm not too crazy about it is using Eve Teschmacher instead of Mercy Graves because I have never really liked Eve Teschmacher in the comics. She was an original creation for the Richard Donner Superman film similar to how Mercy Graves was an original creation for Superman The Animated Series but I always thought Mercy was significantly better and more interesting.
Marvel pausing and reshooting on Cap 4 does not worry me in the slightest. The things that seem to set you guys off about it do the opposite for me. I prefer Marvel to always take their time and get it right. Especially where mutants and the future of the franchise is concerned.
It should absolutely worry you when it is reported that it is 5 months of reshoots where if that’s true, that’s reshooting a lot of the movie. It’s not just action scenes they are redoing.
GUYS Superman is a BRILLIANT character - MOS and BVS are perfect examples of superman films in which superman is not perfect and fallible and not undefeateable
I love Nick Hoult and have faith in Gunn Im really over young tech billionaire depictions of Luthor. He’s the one character that can be cast as any age or race. I was hoping to get a very different take on Luthor. I always wanted a Luthor that is as gorgeous as Bradley Cooper and manipulative as Trump. I would love to see them use Lex in a President Luthor arc. A megalomaniacal villain that could convince the world he should be President. Someone that is great at masking his villainy until he is upstaged by the likes of Superman.
Nicholas Hoult is 33 and we have no idea what the portrayal will be, but there’s no way he is portrayed like Jesse Eisenberg. Saying your over that depiction doesn’t make sense when we have one terrible version of it once in live-action. It’s going to be a very different take than Eisenberg and I hope Hoult doesn’t use his default American accent, but we will see. Bradley Cooper was reportedly the first choice and then he turned it down according to Jeff Sneider. Cooper would have worked where Hoult is still a great choice out of the options that were left with the Skarsgards being in the final trio.
It’s funny how superheroes, the ultimate expression of American Alpha power, are always played by Brits: Batman - Christian Bale Batman - Robert Pattinson Spider-Man - Andrew Garfield Spider-Man - Tom Holland Superman - Henry Cavill Daredevil- Charlie Cox Richard Reeds (Fantastic 4) - Ioan Gruffudd Quicksilver - Aaron Taylor-Johnson Kick-Ass - Aaron Taylor-Johnson Professor X - Patrick Stewart Professor X - James McAvoy Beast (X-Men) - Nicholas Hoult Dr Strange - Benedict Cumberbatch Heimdall - Idris Elba Loki - Tom Hiddleston Venom - Tom Hardy Iron Fist - Finn Jones Phoenix (X-Men) - Sophie Turner Nebula (Gardians of the Galaxy) - Karen Gillan Enchantress (Suicide Squad) - Cara Delevingne Black Cat (Spider-Man) - Felicity Jones
im here for this. AFTER LOVING - MOS, BVS ZSJL, WW and Aquaman 1 was good. the DCEU fell to shit because of WB execs - now we get a reset - dealing with 10 yrs of fools and hate we get a reset and DC is its own studio. I CAN'T WAIT
As great as this cast is shaping up to be, I would say that the cast for Donner’s Superman was way more stacked by comparison. Supporting Christopher Reeve was the likes of Brando, Hackman, Glenn Ford, Margot Kidder, Ned Beatty, Jackie Cooper, Terrence Stamp, Susannah York, just to name a few. Most of these names might not sound like much to people today, but back in the 70s, those were names that added real prestige and respect to the film. Hell, even Man of Steel mirrored this. Supporting Henry Cavill were top tier talent like Russell Crowe, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Shannon, Christopher Meloni, Ayelet Zurer, and Richard Schiff among others. James Gunn clearly gets that if you’re casting for a Superman movie, you definitely need to get some top notch talent to fill roles like these, and so far he definitely has.

No Star Wars, MCU, Indiana Jones, and The Godfather made the cut.
21. The Hateful Eight
22. Jojo Rabbit
23. Thor: Ragnarok
24. There's Something About Mary
25. Dazed and Confused
26. Top Gun: Maverick
27. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
28. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
29. The Empire Strikes Back
30. Revenge of the Sith
31. Avengers: Infinity War
32. A New Hope
33. Return of the Jedi
34. The Godfather
35. The Godfather Part II
36. Forrest Gump
37. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
38. Wild Hogs
39. Dumb and Dumber To
40. Back to the Future Part III
Damn, I love a lot of those movies from #21-#40.
Ok…
Love the cast!! I am just imagining the moment when the trailer will come out and we'd be watching it!!!!! 😂
I understand in the comics Lex many times is all jacked... I don't need that for the movie... It can easily become very silly, focus on his mind
Don't steal my voice😂😂
The action scenes in Winter Soldier and Civil War were stellar so I get them wanting to get those right. Winston makes a good point about saying this is a cover for writing Sabra out of the movie. It would make a lot of sense.
Are you guys going to cover invincible 4 episodes?
The CGI hulk was great. The CGI Beast was fine too. Why are you spending time on this? Silly talk.
Twisted Metal was really fun and good. Mackie is very charismatic, dude can go from funny to serious in a second. KH is right tho, he hasn't been #1 in a FILM yet. I think he can.
Who does your animated intro?
The great WICKED ART! He also did 3 issues of a comic book of Capes and Cowls!
Twisted Metal was great the soundtrack throughout the show is Top notch!!
Short answer; NO. Christopher Reeve is the reigning champion. I can't see him being beaten. You might get better FX and better writing, and perhaps a better movie\show in general but you'll be hard pressed to find a better Superman.
Have a great weekend 🙌
Here’s an interesting bit of speculation that’s literally just dropped, Joseph Quinn was scheduled to be attending a comic con in the U.K. this coming weekend and he was booked as a last minute replacement for a previous drop out.
However, he has just pulled out too now, despite flights being booked etc… it’s been noted that he’s suddenly got work commitments and many think due to the fact he isn’t being rescheduled to attend a later date (as is usual for this events company) that he may have booked something quite big and with a long term commitment… the speculation going round is Fantastic Four.
Very very possible.
I'm surprised you guys didn't discuss The Marvel's box office performance, I remember the panel had predictions.
Edit: also not sure if you're aware but the video lags a lot when you switch to close up shot, especially on Coy.
They’ve covered it a lot it’s kind of beating a dead horse
@@codybischoff1010 I only saw Kristian's one video on it that's why
@@Kasual7 on a lot of his streams they’ve brought it up. I actually like how they’ve covered it, not mean just honest
At this point I’m 100% confident that Superman legacy will be a success
"Turn that gravitas in to malice".
HOE LEE SHEET COY, WHAT A LINE! 🤯
Also, Rocha (gravitas). 😂
It’s not necessarily the same demo as Wonka or Aquaman but THE COLOR PURPLE also comes out on Christmas Day and is Warner Bros as well! So, Warner Bros has THREE movies coming out within 10 days of each other this Christmas. Again, different demos but all three are very much anticipated and of the same studio…
Just wanna put that out there!
Clancy Brown in Dexter - New Blood, SO damn good
Hoult I think is a great choice for a young Lex but McAvoy is actually not a bad one either.
Cheers
Not only a gripe but MY gripe as well!!! It is driving me fucking bonkers!! If you can help, I would appreciate it. No one can figure it out!
Just followed you from The Big Thing account on Twitter. Thank you!!

I like the tone of Superman Returns and the music was great. Do you think we get the iconic theme for Superman Legacy?
God I hope we can get an amazing composer who brings a unique theme and score we haven't heard before. Whoever he or she is, they have some big shoes to fill that can rival hans zimmer and John Williams. Yeah and I agree I love John Ottman's score for Superman returns. It's such an underrated movie.
Why get Ed Skein(Ajax in Deadpool) light, when you got the original?! A guy with actual acting chops, he's a big guy, cut, perfect.
Uh, Nicholas Hoult has way more acting chops than the guy who played an industrial cleaner in a Deadpool movie 😂😂
highlighting that ed skrein has "actual acting chops" compared to nicholas hoult is the weirdest way to start
@@360.Tapestry True that tho. Still, you catchin what I'm pitchin or you gonna let me play by my self?
Very weird take
I know I'm probably starting to sound like a broken record but can we get some more Gen V talk next week? Or Invincible? Both are excellent and should be talked about more.
The guy in the middle would make a great jimmy olsen!
I think thisnis the best casting for a superheroe movie. On point with the characters on comics
I watched Sea of Love last week...it's on Netflix! Lol
Just watched days of future past last night and man I can’t wait for dead pool 3
FYI guys, this is not a WB film
DC is its own studio, and has no interferrence from WB. so while YES this is huge - but its huge for DC as a studio and not so much WB.
James Gunn is building more hype for this movie than anything the DCEU saw and he hasn't even started filming yet.
James Gunn made me hyped for DC as nothing before. Maybe The Batman made me happy too 😊 I never was a DC fan but now MCU is bad and Im excited to see fresh air in CBM
Sam Huntington was a pretty awesome Jimmy for what he was given
Can't wait for Superman Legacy to prove every naysayer wrong and bring us hope (haha) and actually get us excited for DC again 2025 can't come sooner ❤❤
They delayed the “highly anticipated” cap 4 because it turns out to not be very highly anticipated lol
If Lex Luthor doesn’t go “WITNESS ME SUPERMAN” in the movie, I’ll be very disappointed.
Nicholas Hoult is a great pick. Of course he can play a level 10th intellect based on Beast. Will be good to see him stretch his acting talent to portray Superman's arch enemy. I almost want him to keep the British accent, makes him more a more credible villain.
What happened between Anthony mackie and frosty?
Mackie persecuted frosty for liking Man of Steel
Clancy Brown should be Baylan Skol recast (idc if he was already in Ahsoka) 12:41
@@Aussie27Legend thank you, Dave Filoni
I'm curious to see what this Lex Luthor personality/motivation will be. Also, in the Max TV series Titans it established Luthor was from Smallville!
did you see this?
Quantumania had reshoots too....
@@chaosinorderrrJust stop being negative
@@chaosinorderrrYeah, rushed reshoots 2 months before release where the ending was changed.

It’s funny how superheroes, the ultimate expression of American Alpha power, are always played by Brits:
Batman - Christian Bale
Batman - Robert Pattinson
Spider-Man - Andrew Garfield
Spider-Man - Tom Holland
Superman - Henry Cavill
Daredevil- Charlie Cox
Richard Reeds (Fantastic 4) - Ioan Gruffudd
Quicksilver - Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Kick-Ass - Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Professor X - Patrick Stewart
Professor X - James McAvoy
Beast (X-Men) - Nicholas Hoult
Dr Strange - Benedict Cumberbatch
Heimdall - Idris Elba
Loki - Tom Hiddleston
Venom - Tom Hardy
Iron Fist - Finn Jones
Phoenix (X-Men) - Sophie Turner
Nebula (Gardians of the Galaxy) - Karen Gillan
Enchantress (Suicide Squad) - Cara Delevingne
Black Cat (Spider-Man) - Felicity Jones
im here for this.
Gunn brilliant.. hirin the runner up to Supes as Lex … can u say a lil “ professional jealousy “ could play out in scenes wit cornsweeet ..
