I'm such a ninny. I always read descriptions and did read about the caulking (never heard of it before...i'm dutch) but neglected to read the rest because i was in a rush. Still, you're very creative and i am amazed at the creative skill of people here in YT land. If anything, i learned to think outside of the box. Thank you again.
fabulous idea, I made these after I watched your video, it turned out so well, thank you! I used real sprinkle cake decorations, the slices look so authentic! I am using them as props for a Marie Antoinette Halloween costume - "let them eat cake" as she is alleged to have said!
Did you use silicone or calk. They are different. Your cake is beautiful. Was going to try this a few years ago and didnt get to it. Thank you for sharing. Awesome. Ontario, canada. ❤️
I learned about this somewhere else (Tumblr?) and have successfully sent cake through the mail. Your version is a little different, and helpful. The 'sprinkles' are a clever twist. I'm curious who came up with the idea. Are you the originator?
I got 2 questions. First one, what kind of paint do you use to paint those sponge? And secondly, I want to make a fake cake a little bit like these, but I want it to ''stand up'', not laying on the plate like these. Without the post card, Do you think the cake should be okay? ( I want to make the base larger too, it might help...) Thank you :)
I used acrylic paint applied with a big brush, but you can use a spray paint, as well. You control the size of the cake slice. A wider backside will make it stand nicely. Have fun! ~Candace
If you wet your finger you can wipe it and it wont stick when Im at work we spit on our finger. You only get one or two wipes then wet your finger again ;-)

Candace uses pre-colored caulking on her cake slices.
If you put magnets on the back it would be great for a fridge magnet would sell great at craft fairs!
Awesome idea!! Thanks!
We agree @tswillistsw! Candace always leaves us smiling!
Watching in 2019 from LONDON ENGLAND .... Candace is a hoot lol ... loved this video. I will give it a try!
Painter's caulk is what I used in the middle and on top for the frosting.

If we don’t have a saw, is there another way to cut the sponge 🧽?
Thank you for the great tip!
~ Candace
Candace Jedrowicz how do you cut the sponge to look like a slice of cake
This is genious would make a great thing to send
Wow that's awesome!!!:)
If you leave the paper of they are homade squishies
There are definitely lots of different uses for the sponges Lauren Paisley :)
You are so much fun!
Why do you need the postcard?
awesome
Nice!
This is real cool tyfs
soo good
Very nice mam:-)
Instead of using a saw to cut the sponge, try an electric knife like the one you carve a turkey with. Works wonders, cheap to buy & is easy to handle.
Who is here almost 2020?! Sorry my English is so bad
