Nevermore: Chris Broderick & Jeff Loomis Guitar Solo Duel
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 тра 2006
- Nevermore at Jaxx Nightclub in Springfield, VA on 5-7-06. Chris Broderick (Megadeth) and Jeff Loomis trade shredding solos. Then James MacDonough starts the bass line to Dead Heart.
Did this remind anyone else of when Jason Becker and Marty Friedman used to do this with Cacophony?
Devin Hull I'm agree with you :)
Devin Hull Both of them are big fans of Jason Becker
Chris gave Jason a signed guitar for an auction and Jeff has a cover on youtube
jovany69 I know. It was because of Jeff that Marty auditioned for Megadeth.
Jason was too superior to Marty, that was very far from balance guitar duet, in simple words, it's was not a big deal if cacophony only had Jason.
+Dhika Yudha Perdana marty has better phrase in his music and solos though....
Legitimately surprised the stage didn't catch fire when they started soloing together.
and a portal didn't open???
made my day xD
Not a portal.. a Stargate my dude
this comment makes this movie 2 times better
:*
😂😂😂😂
Jeff loomis sounds the cleanest sound ever of all time even in fast solos, cannot believe how... IMO
he easily is a goat
It's his sharpy pick. Try one.
Man I wish I could have seen a Nevermore gig.... sigh.. RIP Warrel
14 years later and this video still makes me as excited as the first time I saw it.
These guys should do Cacophony 2.0 in honor of Jason Becker.
Yes please!
Still this!
Damn right!
Especially now with Jasons recent health struggles
Jeff and Chris. Peanut butter and jelly. Hot and cold. Black and white. Ebony and ivory. Chocolate and vanilla. These two just go together perfectly. Such awesome guitar players!!!
But who is the chocolate and the vanilla?
@@jaysonfoy4486 judging by hair, Broderick is chocolate and Loomis is Vanilla
I got to see them together with nevermore in melbourne aUs back in the day
I have nothing against Arch Enemy but I feel Jeff is so underused. These guys should get back together and start another group. Nevermore was fantastic.
just like how Chris was underused in Megadave. i'm glad he left (i mean got kicked out by the diva himself of course). poor Kiko had the same fate.
@@mkyashar91Chris was never underused in Megadeth, he contributed to the two albums, it's just that his style of playing does not include feel and melody which other Megadeth guitar players never lacked. Kiko was able to used his various styles of playing, including Bosa Nova during his time in Megadeth. To conclude, Chris is a very technical player, but not the best soloist!
@@mkyashar91Chris was not underused, Endgame was insane. On the other hand, every Arch Enemy album for the past decade has been completely forgettable.
This is what would happen if Skwisgaar and Toki could get along.
and if toki could do a solo, dont you remember the abused guitar player? he went glam
as skwisgaar would say, I am a lot more gooders than you are
two of the best metal guitarists on the same stage. just amazing
Id love to see Loomis in Megadeth
Unfortunately , Chris letf Megadeth :(
João Santos 4 that i said.
+Von Dimebag Jeff was asked he said no.
+Von Dimebag two best friends are going to tell each other what to exspect.chris cares too much about jeff.
Jeff Audtioned for Megadeth back when he was 16 or so, only reason they denied him was that of his young age at the time.
At 1:40 duel Malmsteen "Jet to Jet" Alcatraz. Fucking cool
+Terry Tyderek Thank you man, I was trying to find out what that was from. It would have taken me forever.
@terrytyderek4191 I’ve been searching for this song for years. Thanks for sharing!
Both freaks of the instrument. Gifted and devoted to practice.
I do think Chris played more interesting solos in Jag Panzer than he now does in Megadeth, but I also think JP was more suited to his approach as a metal soloist.
Thank you that is EXACTLY what I've been saying for years, but the problem is that as soon as you mention Jag Panzer to the average music listener the response is always "Who's Jag Panzer"? They don't even know that there was life before MegadetH. Chris Broderick is the reason why I started playing seven strings right after I learned his solo for take to the sky; without a doubt my favorite man/musician.
arpegio88
Yeah, I know. JP's not a mainstream metal group, so to most, Megadeth is his "first" profile gig. Of course, now he's split from the two Daves ... Of all the Megadeth guitarists, Chris is the least indentifiable, despite being possibly the most studied, from a theoretical standpoint. As is often suggested, sometimes TOO much formal study/theory can blunt originality. Having said this, I am a big fan of Mr. Broderick and wish him all the best. He'll always have my support. Anyway, thanks, arpegio88, for the cool comment. Nice to hear from a fellow Panzer fan. (P.S. I saw Panzer live, twice, with Chris, and it was amazing.)
***** You've gotta tell me a little bit about that concert lol.
Marty Friedman will win over Broderick for composition skills and feelings in the playing.
I vote for Loomis
Yessir!
Saw them do the same thing in Buffalo the night before. I was in awe. I always loved Broderick's work with Jag Panzer and Loomis' work with Nevermore. People can't just leave things alone without ultimately trying to rank them and see whose guitar has the longer scale length.
I will say this - and you rank happy talent queens need to own it - they're better guitar players than we are.
Loomis is a single cacophony
naah he's pretty much a quarter of becker
What is that supposed to mean in terms of what Messiah said?
16 years later and I still watch this video
They are who I think of first when I recall metal guitar soloists
This video is still disgusting a decade and a half later. These guys can play. Wish they could work together again.
Had to watch Yngwie for a palette cleanser.
Some Chris Broderick jokes:
-Eddie Van Halen challenged Chris Broderick to a guitar duel. Eddie now plays trombone in a ska band.
-It is estimated that Chris Broderick crushes 4,570 hopes and dreams per year.
-Chris Broderick was offered a position in Dream Theater but he turned it down because he prefers a challenge.
-In a shred off between Synyster Gates and Kirk Hammett, Chris Broderick wins.
-They stopped sending Chris Broderick on G3 because there was a 100% casualty report during the show.
Lmao
Lucky they didn’t get loomis then.
No matter how hard you practice and get better through the years there’s Chris Broderick always making you feel like a shit on guitar.
Chris and Jeff are both incredible.
Those were the days
the only difference between is their hair colour
jeff loomis is the God of Guitar
YES PLAYING JET TO JET BY ALCATRAZZ! 1:40
I like the part where they went "Wa-be-dee-wa-be-dee wooooowwwhhh."
Love the yngwie tribute lick near the end
I remember this video from back in the day and I'm glad it's still on here
Most inspiring video ever !
Chris Broderick has just left Megadeth!!!
Jeff = Musical
Chris = technical
both are great player anyways
Wow, I wish I could have seen that live. Two amazing shredders. Simply amazing.
The very first video I ever saw on UA-cam...AWESOME!!!...🤘🤙😎😎😎
This is like watching clash of the titans.
gotta love when Chris tells Jeff "Jet to Jet" then harmonize 'cause they know that young Yngwie is the master...
Man I remember watching this video way back in my teens.
I was there & it ruled.
I think loomis is thinking faster alone=better
mad respect though, some of the best guitarists alive
Not quite on my level but cool:)
Could anyone imagine both of them actually doing a project together? OMFG...
Two of the greatest shredders in the same band. Amazing.
so sad to see the talent of Chris wasted with super collider...
And now Jeff in Arch Enemy.. at least Chris wrote some shreddy solos for Endgame
You wanna hear brodrick go off? Listen to Jag Panzer. Scary shit. Corny ass power metal at it's finest.
@@deanmlshredder Saw Jag Panzer at this very venue in the early 2000's. Iced Earth, In Flames, and Jag Panzer was the bill. First time I had heard of them but Chris and The Tyrant were friggin' amazing. Iced Earth only let them play maybe 40 minutes. Jag Panzer blew those other two bands away.
Jeff Loomis did a solo on Deep by Hannes Grossman... you want to hear some good metal listen to that shit.
@@deanmlshredder whos brodrick?
Jason Becker wins
A couple of badasses! 🤘
oh wow,,,, i would loved to have been there for that!!
Loomis is the greatest guitar player in the history of GUITAR. PERIOD!
Is the singer wearing a Dethklok t-shirt at about 2:30?
glad im not there live. i think my head would explode from the amazingness
Thanks for the help :)
Sweeping: Broderick
Tapping: Broderick
Alternate Picking: Jeff
Legato runs: slight edge to Jeff
Chords: Slight edge to Broderick
Phrasing: Jeff
Both are guitar gods
god that is amazing
Awesome both guys from Nevermore, Chris Broderick & Jeff Loomis...!!!!!!!
Loomis Broderick and Friedman ,,, the 3 musketeers !!
Don't forget Jason!
***** MAB..??FUck No..!
+Marcos Vinícius please don't associate these legends with that shit fucking movie.
unless you mean the Jessica alba version.. then carry on.
jeff loomis to me is more of an "in the box" kind of player when compared to chris.
great
video
AWESOME!!!!
I love Jeff Loomis, and I'm not knocking him at all, but Chris Broderick shows that he is the better player here. Faster and cleaner throughout, with better technique.
wtf. broderick slops over so much shit man. i love chris but i cringed. now i think some of the sound quality may have had to do with the positioning of the recorder, but jeff was way more on point.
I love them both, but being objective, Chris has better and more developed technique, but in terms of musicality, and composition, Jeff wins
Jeff Loomis plays with more feel and writes better music than Chris "Robot-man" Broderick. You think Chris is better, explain "Super Collider". By the way, bronies suck.
Just like eveyone here has aleady said, Loomis is much better, more feeling and better technique...and most importan, more musicality. I think he's the heir of what Jason Becker and Yngwie Malmsteen were doing around the 80s ands early 90s, taking it to a new and more extreme level, and I´m not referring about technique here, but musicality, due to his djent kinda style.
Yesss. Same opinion... Btw, Jeff is so good, talented and all but when you look at the techniques(multi-finger tapping, sweep tapping, sweep picking, string skipping etc...), style, talent, profession... Of Chris, he definitely wins. Really I'm not kidding becouse i have respect for Jeff but when it comes to music Chris does it better!
1:50sounds like ArchEnemy
It's Yngwie Malmsteen.
Alcatraz
to have been there live probably would have been a life changing experience. those two are friggin beasts at guitar
Love the Jet to Jet bit they do at the end.
Can I request Paul Gilbert to join this guitar battle?
+RossBayCult can i ask marty friedman join this guitar battle? or David Davidson?
+Rafael Tsahouridis That's beyond unfair
Jeff Loomis is better, sorry.
Respect to both! I love Chris!
Imagine if he uses "Chaos Theory" or "Betcha Can't Play This"...
Bro...
i came here for both!
Close, but Loomis wins.
+tylor caruth Chris is far more skilled than Jeff. I idolize both, but it's the truth.
+Hannah Aych are you deaf?!
Steven Lopez
It's Chris all day. It will always be Chris. Pls.
+Hannah Aych listen to how fucking clean Jeff is playing those riffs. do you even play guitar????
Yes. I've played for 12 years.
You're getting way too upset about this.
Chris is still a better guitarist.
dude don't let this stuff get you down, these are experts it takes a long freaking time to get near there level. so just keep at it and don't let it get ya down, use it as inspiration.
That's an epic line-up we got here..
epic moment man!!
Damn, I wish I would have seen them live! just once
I want to hear:
Jason Becker and Marty Friedman vs. Jeff Loomis and Chris Broderick
so my ears.... CAME!!!! that was waaay fkn sick!!!
No problem, nice to see two talents like these guys pay tribute to the legend IMO =D
I love JAxx so much. Favorite venue.
Its very fun play the guitar inmediatly after to watch this
awesome
I miss this band
Excellent :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
Par de maestros !!
This shit actually made me cry. That was beautiful.
Two guitar gods having fun
holy shit that sweep picking was awesome
Goosebumps.. Damnit Loomis and Broderick, you always do this to me :(
The good thing about guitar solo duels is that there really are no losers. Both guys are definitely winners.
And the winner is....ME! because i lived to see a miracle like this! i mean, these two guys are amazing! i lived for a long time in a world dominated by Satriani, Vai, Malmsteen among others...but these guys are my new heroes!
I would have killed to be at that gig! Favourite guitarist = Broderick and Loomis.
I love how the beginning of Jeff's first solo sounds like a car engine revving! So badass!
Happy Birthday, Chris Broderick!!
that was epic
I think we can all agree that they're two of the most talented guitarists alive today.
When they started playing together I thought the video was going to explode
2 of the very best.
Both are fuckin' Godlike. Some much awesome on one stage...
i know this is super old but holy shit yeaH. That harmony towards the end... so sweet.
Jet to Jet
A moment marked in history
2 geniuses at work
Great even before he was 15. Awesomeness Chris.
Yes that part they are playing in harmony is from an Alkatrazz song called Jet To Jet.
