How this clip isn't rate 5+ stars is ridiculous. This guy is utterly amazing. I am soooo glad he is with Megadeth because they will return to the glory they had with Marty. I suspect that their next album with Chris will be a rebirth of one of the greatest thrash/metal bands ever!
Awesome guitar. Awesome amp. That ENG: tone is amazing. Chris' playing is absolutely amazing. I hope this rehearsal means some of these songs will be played live again like Beyond Within and Deconstruction.
Just saw him a while back playing with megadeth... fuckin amazing is all I can say... He handles he playing beautifully and makes it look like second nature. A true gem of the guitar playing world.
I think when Megadeth employs you as a lead guitarist... For SEVERAL albums, that should really shut down ALL critics. Chris Broderick is one of absolutely best guitarists to still be playing today. Plus, one of his Megadeth albums (Endgame) being considered by many to be in their top 5,if not top 3 best Megadeth albums is quite a feat. P.S. Jeff Loomis is another top tier guitarist right next to Broderick. They can proudly stand next to Jeff Becker, Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert, and Yngwie Malmsteen 🙄 lol.
I play an Ibanez Universe 7 string. I have standard tuning on the normal 6 strings, but I have the low B string dropped one whole step to A, because I play in A minor a lot. I use the 7th string for heavy, low end power chords, but I also use it for 3 octave sweeping arpeggios, lower notes in scale runs, and it can also be used for a 7 string A minor(or major) chord.
His I voyager harmonics are insane. Cheers Jeff and Chris.. There's other guitarists that kick ass. Like Jeff Loomis, Darrell Lance Abbott, John Petrucci, Alex Skolnick, Alexi Laiho, Mike and Chris Amott, Uli Jon Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Herman Li..... It goes on and on. Love how bedroom guitarists criticize perfection. *thumbs up brah*
yeah dude, that's true. the Ibanez custom shop isn't open to the public either, so you literally cannot pay them enough to make one. I wish they'd release a chris broderick signature!
really funny thing, i saw nevermore live in portland or, and when i saw jeff loomis tear it up i was like..... it was the best stuff ive ever seen, and to think, they had chris broderick in the band for a while? it was absolutely stellar with out chris, i wished i could have seen them with him. and slaves shall serve6, i agree, thank god nevermore is doing us very proud.
With Jeff....he made unique music, one of a kind a completely different genere altoghter.Something refrishingly new. With Megadeth he s just become old school thats all but he is in great company isnt he? Someone who created something refreshingly new back then.
most often than not it IS that extra string. more notes - like choosing 24 frets over 22 but on the oppersite end of the the register. alot of riffs/songs/watever are alot more suited to lower key signitures. and as well as that its sometimes a comfort thing ppl with bigger hands find 7string necks easyer to play ^^ all those are exactly why i play 7s
when i use jazz IIIs i usually take sand paper, and sand down the sides of them a little bit, that makes it very rough and VERY grippy. works quite well for me at least, even when my hands are sweaty
i think a lot of it has to do with amplifier choice, i experience the same thing as a player, different nuances come out from different amps, like some make you sound like you are picking harder than you are, and some will actually activate other tonal spectrums on the guitar, i think a lot of it has to do with noise dampeners too, but i that is just coming from me, i like both but chris is my personal favorite of the two.
god damn. took me a while to figure it out, since i had to go by the drum beat since chris adlibs the solo on this video. but if's from the song Beyond Within from the Dreaming Neon Black album
His Ibanez is a custom that you can't buy. But he uses an Ibanez rg1527 and it is an insanely great feeling and great looking guitar (i own one) but they only come in royal blue.
donut you speak the truth about ibanez not being able to market a sig guitar for broderick, but he's with Megadeath now, and although they aren't exactly a great metal band anymore it still adds immensly to his popularity.
12 years late, but here it goes:

1:09 Deconstruction
1:44 The River Dragon Has Come

He add too much sweep to the solo in beyond within.
5 years late, but thanks
The guy is a perfectionist at guitar. I love it
i still watch this alot
This clip should be shown at all Guitar Clinics......Perfect technique....One can learn so much just by watching this guy play. He rules.
It's weird seeing Chris play without a pick clip!
i love playing nevermore, so good, so crushing, somany little things going on
OMFFFFFG that guitar is beautiful.
that guitar is beautiful
Brutal! :) I loved you in nevermore that was a sweet mix!

i used to watch this literally daily
1:49 one of my favorite simple riffs out of Nevermore. and right after in Born, damnit i got chills when he started singing. i wish i had his charisma
this is just perfect...Perfect...Player/guitar/amp/songs.....Chris dude you are awesome....
He have a good voice
better than Mustaine!
Groovy thanks, almost a completed list.
I wonder if Chris still remembers how to play these songs
i dont think he does
Depends on if he enjoyed his time with the band beyond getting paid better than he did with Jag Panzer.
yet again i will post that i watch this a ton still.
Just saw him a while back playing with megadeth... fuckin amazing is all I can say... He handles he playing beautifully and makes it look like second nature. A true gem of the guitar playing world.
"My Acid Words"
I´m very impressed of this video. This sort of video i´ve never seen before by another "famous" guitar player. Nice !
I think when Megadeth employs you as a lead guitarist... For SEVERAL albums, that should really shut down ALL critics. Chris Broderick is one of absolutely best guitarists to still be playing today. This guy is such a machine, love him!
Awesome! Thanks man!
Jesus Christ, the sound just blows my head away.
Some day I'll buy that amp.
i love that he sings along "Born" ,very sad and great song.
thank you :D
amazing... there isnt any other word to describe this
wow chris is amazing
I would love to see an instrumental album by Chris and Jeff Loomis, Marty Friedman and Jason Becker style...
Check out Lost Symphony Music! M. Friedman and Jeff Loomis on It!
thanks, man.
Amazing playing chris

thanks dudes
i'd give anything and everything for this kind of sound.
Ahhhh LACS! awesome
such a nice guitar
Thanks :D
i completly agre man i cant wait to hear what chris does in megadeth i can see him adding such a unique edge to it!
Rockman Octoplus! LOL! Not seen one of those in a long time. Nice equipment and playing!!
I love his playing.
I'm very excited to know what he makes with Megadeth
His I voyager harmonics are insane. Cheers Jeff and Chris.. There's other guitarists that kick ass. Like Jeff Loomis, Darrell Lance Abbott, John Petrucci, Alex Skolnick, Alexi Laiho, Mike and Chris Amott, Uli Jon Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Herman Li..... It goes on and on. ENGL+7 string is level up. Sucks people let ego get in the way of evolution.
Completed =D Thanks!
Chris is so underrated IMO, plus he indorses my favorite guitar MFG IBANEZ!
Ibanez is basic
@Beetleborg I actually hate Ibanez now hahaha. This was 13 years ago. I am ESP all the way.
cheers mate
Perfect example of why Nevermore has such a difficult time finding a second guitarist, really how many guys can play this well on a 7-string?
Tosin abasi.
dude... all of there songs are good... I'm not kidding.
Wow Chris Broderick is a damn good singer to.
dont, i have that exact run stuck in my head now thanks to you ha ha
If you are thinking about playing it go for it. It's a reallly fun song.
wicked addition to Nevermore.
Man, Chris makes it look so easy...
hell yeah that sounded killer
@ultimateRupture
The first song (0:10) is called "Beyond Within" (Dreaming Neon Black album).
that is sooooo true.
And the best Amp possible.
It was HIGHLY METAL and amazingness :)
THIS ENGL SOUNDS SOOO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing!
yeah dude, that's true. the Ibanez custom shop isn't open to the public either, so you literally cannot pay them enough to make one. I wish they'd release a chris broderick signature!

my face just melted.
still amazin to listen since then. favorite part 2:36
@SlipKnotMetalman It's called Beyond Within, second track off their album Dreaming Neon Black.
most often than not it IS that extra string.
more notes - like choosing 24 frets over 22 but on the oppersite end of the the register.
alot of riffs/songs/watever are alot more suited to lower key signitures.
and as well as that its sometimes a comfort thing
ppl with bigger hands find 7string necks easyer to play
^^ all those are exactly why i play 7s
The one on top is the Engl SE with EL34s and the bottom one is the Engl Powerball.
Jeez, that's nuts!
when i use jazz IIIs i usually take sand paper, and sand down the sides of them a little bit, that makes it very rough and VERY grippy. works quite well for me at least, even when my hands are sweaty
@SlipKnotMetalman The second is Final Product, second track off their album This Godless Endeavor
his gear is amazing! let alone, his playing
Yeah, he mainly uses his LACS custom Ibanez guitars nowadays but if you watch older videos you can also see him using an RG1527 and RG7321s.
I wish Chris was still with Nevermore
It's actually No More Will from the album Dreaming Neon Black
if you're talking about the quick portion h plays that is the river dragon... after that I, Voyager
i think a lot of it has to do with amplifier choice, i experience the same thing as a player, different nuances come out from different amps, like some make you sound like you are picking harder than you are, and some will actually activate other tonal spectrums on the guitar, i think a lot of it has to do with noise dampeners too, but i that is just coming from me, i like both but chris is my personal favorite of the two.
Awesome!
Man,I love the "My Acid Words" riff...
OMG that new Ibanez is Sick!!
His Custom shop Ibanez looks awesome!
WOw I'm gonna see him yess... Megadeth rulesss now yess
the one at 2:30 and leads to where he backround sings and is the song "born"
0:05-0:31 Beyong within
0:32-0:48 Final Product
0:48-1:09 My acid words
1:10-1:43 Deconstruction
1:44-1:48 Riverdragon
1:49-2:15 i,voyager
2:16-3:08 Born
3:09-3:24 Narcosynthesis
3:25-3:38 No more will
Nevermore = best band ever! chris broderick is such an amazing play! i think he may be better than loomis tbh!
god damn. took me a while to figure it out, since i had to go by the drum beat since chris adlibs the solo on this video. but if's from the song Beyond Within from the Dreaming Neon Black album
Dave's signiture guitar is his cutomized flying v, Chris's is his seven-string.
@MrArdelco1970, its an ibanez, one of the prestige ones probably but im not sure what the exact model is
Jesus, i love when he did that harmony on Born.
chris broderick is my favourite................on life
he is my favourite after dimebag darrel!!!!!!!!!!
it's an ibanez custom, but it's closest to the rg seven string. I don't what other differences there are besides the reverse headstock
Ah, of course! Thanks.
@comfortjjc its called i voyager from there new album voyager, i think, it has a music video :P
His Ibanez is a custom that you can't buy. But he uses an Ibanez rg1527 and it is an insanely great feeling and great looking guitar (i own one) but they only come in royal blue.
That's a badass amp.
I second that motion my good man :P
Yeah, its The River Dragon Has Come solo.
There used to be a Loomis lesson on how to play it but I think it might have been taken down
yep. You are right
@deadheadsg Lol. The fact that it's a 7string version of the RGA 420z makes it custom. I urge you to find a 7 string 420z on any website lol.
donut you speak the truth about ibanez not being able to market a sig guitar for broderick, but he's with Megadeath now, and although they aren't exactly a great metal band anymore it still adds immensly to his popularity.
@MMAxRideTheLightning I think it is BEYONG WITHIN from the Dreaming Neon Black album, chris is playing his verison of the solo
