You're both so important in my life. I followed Dr Berry because I ate low carb for over two years. I heard him talk about carnivore and you so I finally checked both carnivore out and Googled your name. I followed you before you had your own UA-cam channel. I haven't looked back because I love how I feel two years later. Bless you both!

I had fibrocystic breasts for years from my teens until even now and no doctor ever told me it could be iodine deficiency, though I went to many for help. In my twenties I read a “ health” book that advised not using iodized salt so I quit using it for a few years. Then when I had my son at age thirty, my thyroid went crazy and I’ve had Hashis ever since. My son has learning problems, probably because of my ignorance. I’m heartbroken.

Low Iodine is mostly associated with low thyroid, but my husband had very high thyroid. The Dr was going to send him to Seattle to have his thyroid radiated (destroyed) in which case he would have been on Sythroid the rest of his life. He instead went to our naturopath who tested his iodine level with the urine test, then put him on iodine, and a homeopathic supplement. He has been in the normal range for about 7 years now.

vitamin C removes the color from iodine through a safe simple chemical reaction. So after taking the iodine brush your teeth with sodium ascorbate powder (non-acidic form of Vitamin C) to keep your teeth from staining. OR you can just take tablets of iodine 12.5 mg per day is best if not sick, more if dragging or sick.

I had been getting fatigued, and brain fogged, and very very unmotivated. The will was there, but I found it tremendously difficult to force myself to actually get up and do things. I eat healthy foods, don't drink, supplement with vitamins D, B, C and several others Yet, I was just not myself. It felt like I was walking under water. This came on slowly, and I wondered, geez, is this just getting old? I'm 66 so I wasn't sure. Caffeine only made it worse. Ginger gave me at least some energy, but not enough.
I was watching a health video about something else, and they mentioned iodine in passing. I had some Lugol's Solution in the medicine cabinet I had bought years ago. I don't know why, but I decided that it couldn't hurt to take a few drops a day just to see what would happen. Well! Within a day my head was clear, a couple of days more and all my fatigue and lack of motivation vanished!
I don't know why I decided to try it, but I'm glad I did. Everything you said in this video confirmed my intuition. I take a few drops every week, or when I feel that lethargy creeping back.

I asked a family doctor 2 years ago whether i was iodine defficient because my blood test was off the range a little bit but he rejected that idea said noone in north america defficient of iodine and prescribed me synthroid instead. I stopped after a few months taking it. But i took lugol's after watching the video 2 weeks ago and since then my brain fog and lightheaded feeling were gone. So grateful to find this very useful information. Praying Blessings and healing for all who need it.

Remember: The amount of iodine drops you need is way different if you are in a healing mode vs taking a base dose for normal diet needs.
So rather than just a drop or two of 2% lugols solution , that may not be anywhere enough. Reference Dr. Brownstein or Dr. Bright.
I can say my brain fog cleared overnight after taking enough iodine drops and enough magnesium. And addressing my leaky gut helped too, no doubt.
Life is so much better not cold all the time, less achey, fuller eyebrows and clearer brain. Thank you God for generous YT doctors!

    • @bajone02
      @bajone02 8 місяців тому +16

@rashidm65 Hi. I started with a liquid iodine product that was about 1/10 less than the dose per drop of 2% Lugols. Was on a more natural thyroid Rx when I started so went very slow. Once that bottle was gone in a couple months I was not having as many hypothyroid issues. So stepped up to 2% Lugols. Ojio brand because that was in my local health food store. I went from 1 or 2 drops at first for a week then kept increasing to about 5 drops and stayed there several weeks. I moved up to about 9 drops daily.. I had weaned myself off my thyroid Rx by then because symptoms were so much better. Yay!
Keep in mind I was also taking a lot of other supplements all through then. Iodine as the major addition through that time. I know I was on magnesium glycine, l-glutamine Now brand for leaky gut, Vit D and K2, Vit C, quercetin, and zinc , some adaptogens, collagen, krill omegas , occasional probiotics, B1 were the main ones. .
Many of those can affect the brain. I was careful to get good quality brands and varied how much I took of each many days. KEY, I believe, was that I had finally started IF successfully without realizing it. Ketones from IF help the brain also. Also, about a week before my fog lifted, I had started putting a scoop of MCT powder or T of MCT oil into my warm drink each day, and afterwards learned that extra form of fat might be what triggered my IF to turn on the magic of ketones and autophagy. 3 weeks after my brain cleared I had already lost several lbs at my waste, my legs were picking up easier. My face was much softer and defined. Woohoo! I am now taking 10-15 drops most days a week, Lugols 2%, after resting off it several months while I started other bladder supplements with iodine in them. Current status: My balance continues improving gradually and am down about another 15 lbs from the day my brain fog first lifted. Am still walking with forearm crutches since 2007. Always start new things slowly. Cross reference at least 5 sources on something new to try for your symptoms and goals. God is good!
      Enjoy your journey.

I’m so mad too! When I was a young 20 something mom, the doctor discovered cysts on my thyroid. He said it could be cancer, but he doubted it. He and my mom pushed me to have half my thyroid out! The doctor made me go to a lab, and a technician came out in heavy gloves, holding a metal isotope. She opened it and dry ice came out! She said to take some in my mouth, stupid me did, because I trusted the medical people then. I think it killed most of my thyroid. I had the surgery and they removed half my thyroid. I used to weigh about 135 lbs back then. But after it was removed, I kept gaining weight, and now in my 60’s, I’m about 235!! So yes, I’m pissed!!

That almost happened to me. The dr wanted to remove half of my thyroid after I had my 3rd child because of cysts on my thyroid. They did a biopsy and it came out inconclusive. I asked the dr what he would recommend if I were his mother or sister because I did not want to be on medication for the rest of my life. He said he would tell them to wait and monitor it to see if there were any changes. I went back every 6 months for two years and then quit going. I didn’t think having so many ultrasounds would be a healthy routine either. It’s been 8 years and I haven’t had any noticeable problems. The dr didn’t tell me, but many friends told me they also had thyroid issues after pregnancy. I guess it’s common since your hormones are all over the place.

Thyroid issues run in the women in my family. My aunt has Hashimoto's. My great-aunt was told she had a "dead" thyroid. The first thing I noticed was my nails growing faster and stronger, looking more hydrated and softer skin. Recently I decided to stop taking it for a week and see what happened. I had forgotten about the ringing in my ears before I started taking it. I still have it but it's extremely mild. But when I stopped the iodine it came back pretty loud in comparison. After I started taking it again it went away in 1 day. It also helps with my hormones. I would say between my hormone creams and the iodine that iodine is half of the job for that. But I'm entering menopause so I need both.

Dr. Brownstein has written a number of books and his most recent one on iodine talks about the amount that we need today which he stated was approximately and at least, 25 mg - MILLIGRAMS.
When Dr. Ken asked him if he felt the amount he was telling his audience was enough, Dr. Brownstein said, "With all due respect doctor, people need much more than that." In that interview they discussed how much people really need and why, in detail. I highly recommend you look up that interview which I believe was done in the last month. If you read through this thread, you’ll find HUNDREDS of people who feel better when they add iodine. And you’ll find HUNDREDS that simply don’t. The more they add, the worse they feel. Because of that (and seeing the same results in my groups), I can no longer give blanket statements about iodine. If someone is inclined to try it, I suggest that they being very slowly and take note of how they feel. I increased too quickly and ended up with deep painful acne, which I hadn’t had in many years (thanks to my diet). If someone feels better, then I think they could slowly increase that amount. But I know for a fact that not everyone does better by simply adding large amounts of iodine, so I think people should proceed with caution or get their iodine levels checked and work with a doctor on improving those levels as needed.

I bought lug old last year but didnt get into using it because i heard too much it bad. So i am the opposite and dont take enough consistently to get a result. When i do remember its in the cupboard i put 2 drops under my tongue. I actually tolerate the taste, and actually being tangy and bitter tasty. That’s usualy a sign of my body saying you need this. I best get into the habit of taking it. I have been having lots of hair fall and feeling cold. I also started thinking sardines were an option so bought some and ate them for the first time. I could have fought my cat for them. I wondered why i liked them so much, what was in them to make me want them so much. This is interesting. I am going to start at 5 drops a day then ween down to 2 over a month, see if the hair and body temp regulate again. Thank you for the video.

I went to my Dr. And give me pain cream when that did t work I took High doses of Motrin I did use x-ray and I began physical therapy.m. Nothing helped until I listen to this video and I started taking Iodine. I had low iron historically, which I had forgotten about, and was not taking anything for it. I've been struggling so hard with getting rid of this weight. I've had this "baby" fat for 39 years now. My son is 39! I was diagnosed with the low thyroid after I had my son. What can I do differently? The Dr. says nothing! Take your pills. I've been down to 140 lbs twice in this length of time, and it creeps back on. Now I'm carnivore, 6 months in. No weight loss. Too much fat? Maybe? I'm going to get some iodine tomorrow and start that. When asking the Dr. about iodine, say five years ago, oh, that's not going to help you. But I was able to exchange synthetic thyroid out for pork thyroid. That helped some, but back up weight again.
Thank you both for getting this out there!
Ya look great, both of you!

A recent update from Ken has advised that 1x drop 2% Lugols daily is woefully inadequate. 25mg is now recommended. 1x drop of 5% Lugols is a scratch over 6mg. I take 5x drops daily (after a week on 5x drops / 3x daily).
If you don't like the taste, just add drops to a shot glass of milk or even to a half glass soda water. You won't taste it.

Correct. Dr. David Brownstein is the true iodine "guru" which Dr. Ken acknowledged in his recent interview of Dr. Brownstein. Dr. Brownstein has written a number of books and his most recent one on iodine talks about the amount that we need today which he stated was approximately 25 mg, not mcg (micrograms).
When Dr. Ken asked him if he felt the amount he was telling his audience was enough, Dr. Brownstein said, "With all due respect doctor, people need much more than that." In that interview they discussed how much people really need and why, in detail. I highly recommend you look up that interview which I believe was done in the last month. It is April 2024 as I'm writing this.

@repentjesusiscomingsoon1529 Please refer to the comment by Miriam, who has rightfully corrected my previous response to your comment. I was thinking of Kens' recent video with Dr David Brownstein, who is the specialist (guru) who updated Ken on the need for much higher daily doses of iodine. My apologies for the bum steer, but you have been working with old and superseded information. I have attached the video and an extra video of Dr. Brownstein for you. I personally took 100 grams daily for 4 weeks just to test it out and suffered no ill consequences.

Thanks for sharing Dr. Berry! Fun Story: My tattoo artist was the one who brought Iodine to my attention. I asked her about suggestions on tattoo aftercare and her immediate response was: "Cut the beauty nonsense. Get yourself some tallow and rub it onto your skin once a day . And drink 2 drops of 7% iodine solution per day". Decided to give it a try since well - hope my gorgeous wife doesnt read this - she looks stunningly hot despite being in her 40s, and gotta say its real. My skin is a lot tighter and has some nice shimmering to it, which looks especially great on the tattooed areas. Also I have a port-wine stain that evolved around the scar after surgically removing an inflammation in my lower leg. Its not entirely gone yet, but I can tell the red color has significantly faded. Guys, give it a try. A 7% lugol solution 30ml botte will last you at least a year even if youre overdosing like me, and is roughly at 10-15 bucks. Its worth it!

Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’
27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ” Luke 16:19-31

I am on natural dessicated thyroid meds for hashimotos and I can not figure out if I should be taking iodine at the same time, there is wildly different opinions on the internet and my Dr says I shouldn't be taking it, but he also believes I should be eating carbs too.

Check out Dr. David Brownstein. He works with Hashimotos and promotes using Iodine. He’s a world authority on it.

My Naturopath recommended iodine drops for me. After 2 days I was a bloated mess! I swelled all over, face, legs, feet. I stopped taking it and after 3 to 4 days all the puff went away. So here is what I have learned about Hashi's after 40 years, many of us have very sensitive systems and what works and is good for many is not for all.

Dr Brownstein’s name was already mentioned in a comment, and also Lynne Farrow’s book. Nutrition with Judy interviewed Farrow. It’s an excellent source of info. I have Hashimoto’s, too, and working with my functional med dr, I’ve tried to supplement before. I felt terrible. I’m trying again because we have a better understanding now of what I need to do. Just started today.

I mix an egg and panko crumbs into a bowl with minced sardines. Then make balls about 2/3 size of a golf ball and get panko crumbs on outside of it. Then put into a preheated air fryer for 8 minutes at 400F, turning over at half way. Make a dip of your choosing. I use mustard with dill and Old Bay seasoning.

I was having breast pain from under my arm to all over my left breast. I couldn't really tell where it was. I thought I had lifted something to heavy and pulled a muscle. The pain would not go away. I read somewhere about taking Evening Primrose & Vitamin E which I started and it helped over night. But then my pain came back after about a month. Been taking iodine for a week it is better again. Hope it stays gone. Thanks for the video.

Same pain here in my left breast. I am very curious what happens! I am going to be pretty pissed if this is the fix, as none of the gyno's checked my iodine with this issue!

@@coastalphriends4913 , hope it helps though. My breast was real hard too. The Evening Primrose helped that. My Doc just wanted me to have mammogram. I don't believe in them myself.

Had swelling and tenderness in both breasts for years and just figured it was pms. I too took primrose oil and it helped one month but the next month the swelling was back. Going to get some iodine.
