Glad to see that, although the storm dampened the costumes, it did not dampen everyone’s spirits! We hope that the cleanup goes smoothly and quickly.
People had a good time despite the weather. We will start our cleanup as soon as the weather gets dry.
I have been following both Lucca Comics and the extraordinary rain and winds you have been facing via internet reports this week . Amazing how many people still braved the weather to participate! May your property remain safe from any potential landslides . . . Cleaning up the large tree that fell will be enough of a challenge.
Comics is such a huge festival and tickets were all sold before the event. So I guess people didn't want to lose out. I was amazed at the happy faces and patience in the queues despite everybody being drenched. It is said to see the beautiful costumes bedraggled. We are safe from landslides at the house but the one hovering on the main road that connects Bagni di Lucca to Lucca is a problem as it means a long detour. Making going to work and high school in Lucca difficult.

Since moving from central London to our hill, I have really learnt the power of nature. Extraordinary to think we were swimming on a beach a couple of weeks ago that no longer exists.

Thank you for your kind words. We were so lucky compared to many. Yesterday we made a start to the clean up under a beautiful warm sun. Another weather warning for tonight so we will batten down the hatches again.
Thanks for this, it was very wet the first two days for Comics but we've had a great time here and most of Friday and Saturday we're dry. You're right it's really friendly and happy in Lucca through Comics. We love coming back and seeing all the fantastic costumes, one year we actually got dressed up.
We were only in Lucca on day 1, but everyone was smiley. It was sad to see the bedraggled costumes. The Walls of Lucca protect us from the outside world. I think the only defensive use of the wall has been against water.

Lucca had more tourists it seems than Paris this last weekend, thanks to comics. I am not really a person for crowds but a large happy peaceful crowd is a joy in this divided world. The chainsaw is ready. I had an extra helping of pasta just to get ready! We just need some fine weather to get started.

Vi ringrazio per un video interessante. Spero che non sia una frana e la sua strada di solito a Lucca apre presto. Sono stata a Verona sei settimana fa e il tempo e` stato caldissimo. Adesso piove a dirotto. E` incredibile come tutto cambia fra un paio di settimane.

Your video reminds of a time when I had 9 days of continuous rain in Pieve (and Benabbio I imagine) in October quite some years ago so I understand the difficulties and the amount of money, time and effort to clear it all up - knowing that one day in the future it will happen again. But living in the country has so many blessings and in your case nicely balanced by Lucca's charms and variety. Fancy selling so many tickets for the Festival so not a surprise to read about Lucca's high standing for October City-Breaks. I hope you can manage to show some of the work on the oak tree.
We have memories of continuous rain 23 years ago to the point that all the roads to Lucca or Garfagnana were blocked for weeks. It still puzzles us the idea of why so many people congregate in Lucca walking around in fancy dresses, but everybody looks very happy and having a good time despite the weather. We are sharpening the chainsaw, just waiting until the weather gets dry.

Noi abbiamo solo visto i costumi del primo giorno, nei giorni seguenti sono venuti altri 250,000 partecipanti in una marea di colori. Non ho netflix e purtroppo nemmeno tanto tempo per vedere una serie.

The river has been high and very muddy. We are lucky to have an amazing team of guys who work on the dam and operate all the gates manually to keep us safe in bad weather. A few years ago we were lucky to be shown how it all works.
I read Lucca's air is not clean. Is Bagni di Lucca's air good, or is it also dusty?
I can certainly tell the difference in the air in Bagni di Lucca from Lucca and even from the valley of Bagni di Lucca to our hill village.

It seems so, and it's such a pity...
Bagni di Lucca air seems good to me but of course, in the hills, it is even purer. Around Lucca city is a ring road and the plain of Lucca is quite industrial which I imagine affects the air quality. Around Lucca, it is continually monitored but I am no expert. I just know how I feel on my hill.
