Genna dear - the danes forgive you. While Lego bricks might be one of the only damned things we are known for, you are forgiven, for you realised your mistake!
Yo Crendor would you do a video like this if I sent you some sweets from Finland? I can already imagine the amount of non content. Plus our candies are tasty. Please :)?
I have no idea why i am watching this. I have a movie paused. I have a game open in the back ground. Am i doing ether? No, i am not. I am watching some guy i have never actually met eat snacks from a different country. Why?.........
David Waters We watch it because it is FUN, and is a learning experience. Making it more enjoyable than a game, and it can possibly influence our diets. Yummy. Now THAT....is "tasteful" thinking. BACK TO VIDEO GAMES! XD
Totalbiscuit tastes: Scotland. There's your excuse to send him Boost, Buckfast and Irn Bru! And he'll have to consume them on camera....it's a flawless plan.
Lego blocks are from Denmark, Genna. :) The first of the three Scandinavian countries, but the least known among the Americans i have talked to, it seems. Well, what makes Denmark awesome isnt very flashy so not surprising. We are just a happy little country enjoying our peaceful state in the world.. Plus minus the recent Russian nuclear threat but.. Eeh, in general. ^^
Oh lord are they getting our chocolate? I REALLY hope so, 'cause we make surprisingly good chocolate (along with Sweden) and liquorice. And hard candy. Now I'm actually looking forward to one of these, what has Crendor done to me? Stupid non-content!
Dream Warden Sweden... Our food is safe... If we want to get food poisoned we have to go to another country. I mean we have quite silly Health and Food regulations...
Man, it really bugs me whenever Taiwan gets bundled in with China as if they are the same thing. Anyway, thanks for making the distinction when applicable :)
***** No problem. I try to make the distinction since there is a bit of separation between Taiwanese and Chinese culture. Taiwan has been ruled by the Dutch, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese throughout various points in history. I like to think that may have some influences in not only their local cuisine, but also snacks. ;)
imo, they are two countries, china had a civil war and one side ruled china and the other fled to taiwan, so it is pretty much the opposite ideology politacly from the chinese governement
Genna Bain Dutch and Portugese influence on them would be very small as they didn't stay long enough before they got kicked out by Zheng Chenggong. Japanese do have some influence on them especially for they older people. The younger people who grow up during Chiang Kai Sek period would be less influence due to the nationalistic education during his time. However Japanese Stuff (Tv show, food, etc) has easier time to be accepted by the common Taiwanese. So I would argue that they can still be considered somwhat similar culturally. Although it would diverge if they manage to be independent from china.
Macau in China would be more Portuguese influenced compared to Taiwan since they didn't really landed on Taiwan and the Taiwanese majority are mostly the same culturally to south Fujianese even down to the architecture while the Hakka population would be exactly that, Hakka Han Chinese but for obvious reasons the hundred of small ethnic indigenous minority tribes in Taiwan are distinctly Austronesian culturally and has more differences between each other than Han Taiwanese compared to those on south Mainland.
Cole Creps well yeah but we're vikings so that's for defense we go raiding with the swords man, just hit their feet with them and watch them crumble in agony BWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
And Finland's the country of a thousand lakes. At least they say it's multiple countries, rather than just Sweden... those damned Swedes get too much credit.
The reason the tangerine wrapping had green things that look like limes on it is because naturally oranges (and "subspecies" thereof) do not develop an orange skin in more tropical climates. As those particular sweets were produced in Taiwan, they would be used to "green oranges."
Its such a shame TB doesn't like peanuts, cuz the spicy peanuts are some of the best peanut snack i've ever had, its super addicting! Glad he liked many of the taiwanese snacks though, may he rest in peace
From Hong Kong here, and I agree, Butterfly Cookies are amazing. Also, the cookie he ate before that with the sugar glaze thing is what we used to get rewarded for getting correct answers in pre-school. I haven't had them in years, but they're pretty good (if not a bit too sweet).
Back when I used to go to town every day for doctor's appointments, I often treated myself to a small bag of wasabi peanuts. They're peanuts covered with a wasabi-coated crispy shell. You can't eat more than 2 at a time without risking severe man-tears and runny nose. I love them, and I mustered up the courage to eat handfuls at a time (5-6). The pain is worth it, because wasabi and peanuts are both delicious you heathen. Love from Norway.
I love this series. Especially for the moments at the end where TB eats something horrible and we all laugh. That's why I think, we all watch these. To watch our favorite youtubers suffer for our amusement.
Lego is Danish-made, IKEA is Swedish and "the land of 1000 Lakes" is Finland, so it sounds like next package is Scandinavian, rather than just swedish :)
The hint makes no sense. IKEA is obviously Swedish, LEGO is Danish and the land of the 1000 lakes is Finland. Maybe they made a mistake and thought Norway was the land of the 1000 lakes, because then it would be Scandinavia, and that would make sense.
far as I can tell, sometimes Finland considers itself part of scandinavia.. but you're right, it doesnt make a whole lot of sense. Though it's prolly gonna be scandinavia box aka lots of liqourice ^^
Eh, including Finland in Scandinavia is a very, very common mistake. It shouldn't be a surprise when companies make that mistake too. After all, people usually think of the Nordic countries as a close bunch and Scandinavia just is a word more used around the globe, so they stick to that name instead of the Nordic countries name, which, to non-Europeans, is a bit misleading as they're not actually north of them.
ArexanderClevor finland .. right.. finland counts as one of the baltic nations then? oO. im swedish and i cant say i ever gave it much thought, but the general attitude is finland-sweden-norway-denmark as scandinavia.. though technically maybe its not right. oh well.. !
The general attitude is wrong then, as Scandinavia is officially Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Finland is part of the Fennoscandia (Scandinavia + Finland) and the Nordic Countries (Fennoscandia + Iceland). The Baltic Nations are different to the Nordic Countries, they include Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. So no, even though Estonian sounds very much like Finnish and vice versa, Finland and Estonia are still not part of the same geographical groups.
liquid maltose, white granulated sugar, whole milk powder, butter and food additives (gelatin, vanillin). corn starch, syrup, cane sugar, butter, and milk. - Nope. No Rabbit. And, the butterfly cookies are just wonton cookies.
nara070690 The vegetable cookies are made out of onion and an assortment of other vegetables. Seaweed powder is also listed as one of the other ingredients.
berusek from what I can see, it doesn't look like a mullet, impossible to tell with the hat on. There's a huge difference between long hair and a mullet. My hairs about 2 feet long, but it's not a mullet.
One thing that bugged me was the Fortune Cookie remark. While the fortune cookies we see today are very much american sompared to the originals, they are not. They are originally Japanese, the industry of making them was taken over by the Chinese after the internment of the Japanese in WW2 and are now vastly different from the original "fortune cookie".
Ikea is Swedish, Lego is Danish, and 'the land of a thousand lakes' is Finland (Their WRC rally used to be named after the fact), so they've combined them into one box.
Those "butterfly cookies" are actually "Schweinsohren" (pig ears, don't worry, not actually meat involved) from Germany and Switzerland... It's a kind of "Schmalzgebäck", a baked good fried in pork fat instead of plant fat. They might exist in some Asian countries under the name of "butterfly cookies", however they pretty much originated in Switzerland and can be found in Germany and France as well.
i love white rabbit candies. Chinese supermarkets and restaurants use to sell them over here. There was banned for a time, but they got into the market again after a time.
A lot of Chinese sweets are from other countries. The custard tart you can find in almost any dim sum restaurant was brought over from Britain. It's a small version of the custard pie, which originated in ancient Rome.
Butterfly cookies are a normal kind of cookies for people in the Netherlands didn't know they came from the eastern but we have them a lot in sweet and salted variants, even with cheese.
First of all. I LOVE that TotalBiscuit, The Cynical Brit washes everything down with butterfly cookies and OMG Genna Bain when you had him repeating you after you said all the fruits.. HAHA. Too funny. Can't wait for Taste of Sweden. :)
Those butterfly cookies he likes are also called "Palmier" cookies! Kroger's here in the south sells them in the bakery section. Also many latino bakeries sell them as "elephant ear" cookies. other than maybe slight recipe changes, all pretty much the same thing ^.^!
The avatar of the giggling Genna is perfect for this sort of content. I'm not sure what's more amusing, seeing TBs reactions to the weird shit or Genna giggling in anticipation/reaction.
18:00 They really really are. I used to get these big square tins with the round indented lid (looks like a tea tin of some sort) of dragonfly wafer sticks, and they got finished before they could be closed up most of the time. Sometimes I'd get a tin of chocolate and a tin of coconut to eat one of each together at a time, and that was some next-level flavor. I am so freaking lucky that my body burns through sugar waaaay faster than what is normal, though I suppose being susceptible to hypoglycemia makes it an even trade.
Ok, so what I learned about TB from these videos is: he isn't the biggest fan in the world of most flavours but he doesn't hate them, he really hates many things most people love (like coffee and nuts) and there's the random taste that he actually likes, with like a 5% chance, lol. I'm enjoying this series.
to answer your question of were lego's were invented .The Lego Group began in the workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen a carpenter from Billund, Denmark, who began making wooden toys in 1932. In 1934, his company came to be called "Lego", from the Danish phrase leg godt, which means "play well".
There is a simple test composed of two easy checks that allows you to determine whether your food is a live squid! 1. Does the food try to wrap tentacles around your face? 2. Does the food squirt ink in your face? If one of these conditions is true, you have strong to evidence to suspect that your food may in fact be a live squid! If both are true, you can be ALMOST CERTAIN that your food is a live squid (or another member of the class Cephalopoda)!
OMG I remember white rabbit candy!!! Btw TB you are suppose to suck on those as oppose to bite them. I was hoping they'd include some chinese moon cake in there but I recognize a lot of those candies and it makes me really happy to see TB try those :D
I dont know why Im enjoying these so much but I cant wait for the next one
9 років тому+1
So I always hated the sound of people eating or speaking with their mouths full but for this video I don't care. The reaction to the wasabi crackers was hilarious. Thanks TB and Genna
Why do I have the feeling that Jesse will be getting a box with disguised wasabi crisps from TB including instruction that they are to be eaten on the podcast? During which TB laughs maniacally rubbing his hands together. That would make an awesome co-optional animated.
Not even to the food yet. I'm imagining a ton of nuts and red bean paste. This should be wonderful.Just got to the white rabbit part right before the red toffee like candy. It's like my childhood in the box.
The hint is referring to "Scandinavia minus Norway plus Finland". Lego from Denmark, IKEA from Sweden, a thousand lakes is Finland, Norway would be "the land of the fjords" or something, but it's not mentioned. If they meant to include Finland they should also have included Norway, Iceland, Åland Islands and the Faroe Islands, using an expanded meaning of Scandinavia. Citation : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandinavia (And me being Norwegian)
The land of one thousand lakes is Finland, the Ikea one is Sweden and Denmark is Lego. And the happy one might be Norway since they sound happier than Swedes generally do, even tho we are both generally as depressed :p They did say "land" right? In Swedish that means country so it just felt really weird to hear that since it would be incorrect, but anyway, that's gonna be interesting.
I have disgraced my Danish ancestors by not realizing immediately that Lego comes from Denmark. Forgive me. ;(
Oh Genna :D If u see this , pls make him suffer more ! Do more of theese
Well, ok then... but don't do it again! ;)
Genna dear - the danes forgive you. While Lego bricks might be one of the only damned things we are known for, you are forgiven, for you realised your mistake!

Now THAT....is "tasteful" thinking.
BACK TO VIDEO GAMES! XD
Because we have problems. For example, I hate free-to-play games with microtransactions, yet I'm playing Pokemon Shuffle and can't stop
I'm crying with laughter and sadness here. Thank you for the entertainment, John
Totalbiscuit tastes: Scotland.
There's your excuse to send him Boost, Buckfast and Irn Bru!

Rhyas9 He shall feel the same way Cox felt when he had Bru live on a Podcast.

I really like listening to Genna. Her voice is so calm and soothing and I love her laugh.

Napoleon Bonaparte yes, because 60 or so years ago, they were the same.
Legos come from Denmark.

MultiMagniGladii * Lego comes * from Denmark. "Legos" is incorrect.

The food of my people and The Cynical Brit......two of my favorite things in one video....I think I just died and went to heaven.
All the fun watching TB going through the daily classic snacks I eat as a Chinese local!
Those "butterfly cookies" are actually a copy of german "schweineohren"....granted, "butterfly cookies" sounds a lot better than "pig ears"...
lol, i found this comment funny cause chinese actually eat pig ears and they are actually very good side dish that goes well with alcohol
Pigs ears sounds delicious
That look on TB's face at the beginning of these videos never gets boring. Please keep making these videos.
ROFL I'm dying of laughter every single time TB eats something he absolutely hates xD

I'm so glad this is becoming a thing...Please make this a series called "TotalBiscuit Tastes the World!"
I gotta admit, TotalBiscuit is a surprisingly entertaining food critic.
I swear, Biscuit sends so many mixed signals. "What the hell is that!?" "It's good!"
I love how TB becomes Sean Connery when he's talking with his mouth full
I love this series. Especially for the moments at the end where TB eats something horrible and we all laugh. That's why I think, we all watch these. To watch our favorite youtubers suffer for our amusement.
Strange, I had the same exact reaction verbatim this month when I tried the wasabi potato crisps.
I've since ordered a dozen more.

Butterfly cookies are made from BUTTERFLIES
White Rabbit candy actually has White Rabbit listed in the ingredients.

Sir Vicke * lego *. Why the fuck do people think that "legos" is ever correct? It isn't. Its outright wrong.

Yay! More Totalbathrobe! Genna please make him wear this for all your videos
"Why would you do that to me?" Innocent eyed look "But it's a vegetable- cookie..." And cue the Biscuity guilt. :P Love this series Genna!
the white rabbit!!! my childhood candy that i love then and now.
I dont know why Im enjoying these so much but I cant wait for the next one
So I always hated the sound of people eating or speaking with their mouths full but for this video I don't care. The reaction to the wasabi crackers was hilarious. Thanks TB and Genna
"NO NIPPLES FOR YOU DEAR"
Oh good god I think I just died laughing.
7:39 I love Rice Candy. I ate those as a kid all the time.
This pack is missing my favourite snack: pineapple tarts. They're popular in Taiwan and South East Asia and they are amazing.
Butterfly cookies saves the day!!!!!! GO BUTTERFLY!
Please keep making videos of TB trying the boxes! they are awesome to watch! : ) Big hugs to you Genna!
Why do I have the feeling that Jesse will be getting a box with disguised wasabi crisps from TB including instruction that they are to be eaten on the podcast? During which TB laughs maniacally rubbing his hands together. That would make an awesome co-optional animated.
China!! I recognize some of this stuff from the days when I have studied in Beijing!! :D
So for those wondering about the hint. Yes IKEA is from Sweden, LEGO is from Denmark.
Not even to the food yet. I'm imagining a ton of nuts and red bean paste. This should be wonderful.Just got to the white rabbit part right before the red toffee like candy. It's like my childhood in the box.
sadly no red bean paste
"It's like a scorpion in your mouth." - TB 2015
Best analogy of the day.
I've eaten those black-sesame things before and loved them!
I love how happy you get, when he tastes something he doesn't like XD
The hint was not for Sweden, but for Scandinavia. Lego is from Denmark, Ikea from Sweden and the land of a thousand lakes (rivers) is Finland :)
I think I would love everything in this box especially the Wasabi Potato Crispy. I love wasabi xD
I love the rabbit sweets, I use to eat them when I was a kid.
The land of one thousand lakes is Finland, the Ikea one is Sweden and Denmark is Lego. And the happy one might be Norway since they sound happier than Swedes generally do, even tho we are both generally as depressed :p
They did say "land" right? In Swedish that means country so it just felt really weird to hear that since it would be incorrect, but anyway, that's gonna be interesting.
"Butterfly cookies immediately"
This needs to be a shirt....Immediately.
Oh, God, the sarcasm. "I thought China would be bigger than this" xD
