    My last tank was 28.9 MPG. about 75% hwy. & 25% city, I'm really impressed with my ecodiesel.

    Holy sticker shock!! I had a '12 ram quadcab sport 2WD. Nice truck but it cost almost $120 to fill the 35 gallon tank. I did mostly 80% highway driving and the mileage was averaging 19-20 MPG according to the computer. Oh and the MSRP was $34XXX. Out the door a bit over $27K.

    I've always like RAM's aggressive look over other trucks even with the new GMC, Chevy looks and interior.

    Although this configuration is very expensive, definitely the best all around 1/2 ton truck on the market, and I was raised a Chevy man, Drive a ford F250 6.2 for work, but I would buy a Ram!

      I hit 22mpg by the end of the week. That's right on the mark. Took a 100 mile highway drive in there that bumped it up a bit.

      yeah, my dad just bought one and he is averaging (says the screen) 28.1 mpg. 70/30 highway to city miles

    I'm interested in the most capable 1/2 ton pickup so we can have the safest, most comfortable tow experience when we need to tow our travel trailer and where this specific model falls short is in payload and tow capacity for us. To be fair, most 1/2 tons have this limitation, but this EcoDiesel model is even worse from this standpoint. Maximum payload (relates to passengers+hitch weight+items in pickup bed), in crew cab form is only a little over 1,200lbs listed on Ram's web site, where the Hemi is rated at just over 1,600lbs and tow capacity is also a lot higher on the Hemi version. Maybe it's just me, but I would think one of the main reasons for adding a diesel option would be for better tow capability and the numbers don't show that.

    I'll take this Ram 1500 Laramie over the Chevy Silverado High Country (and that's nice as well).

    Steve, having driven the ecodiesel in the Ram and Grand Cherokee, would you say the Diesel clatter is definitely louder in the Ram? I have the ecodiesel GC, and have been really disappointed in the lack of diesel noise. (i know most GC owners dont want clatter.)

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  10 років тому +1

      Of, for sure louder in the Ram. Much quieter in the GC.

      TestDriveNow.com featuring Drive Time with Steve Hammes what's the reliability of ram these days? I have a 2012 4runner which I love but I want a pickup now.

      I had a '12 ram w/ the hemi. Never had an ounce of trouble. I saw a reliability rating where ram was rated very high. Higher than dodge funny enough. Watch out when adding all the new fancy tech options...that seems to be where most malfunctions happen.

    What part of this truck's 9200 pound towing capacity makes it "capible" that's over 2000 pounds less then Ford and GM, which can achieve 11000 plus towing capacities in there more popular crew cab 4WD configurations. The ram is a lot of things, sexy, luxurious, refined efficient, technologically advanced. But I fail to see how something can be best in class when fails so far behind in the categories that separate a truck from anything else on the market, such as durability, towing and payload abilities, especially with its suspension set up.

      A comparable Ford F-150 EcoBoost configured just like this Ram is rated at 7,300 pounds while a Silverado with the 4.3L is rated at 6,700 pounds. The Ram is rated at 22mpg combined, the Chevy at 19mpg and the Ford at 17mpg.

    $60 thousand for a *Dodge* truck? When Dodge has the worst track record for quality, reliability and depreciation of any American car brand? You'd have to be out of your mind to spend this much on this future POS!
