what a beautiful sound track from victor young great sound after. Seventy years sweet sound great track.
The most beautiful sound track I have ever heard !! I still remember when my father taped the introduction music to this movie when he knew it was coming on . I was about 50 years ago. I will always love it just like my father had.
This music still holds up after 72-years, as all of his music does. Victor Young was the composer for so many great films that it defies description. As the old saying goes, "They don't make 'em like this anymore."
my mom would play this over and over again in the late fifties. reminds me so much of her. i still have the small size album long play.
Lovely, lovely score. I've been humming the main title theme for decades. Just unforgettable music.

@Mookie Spindlehurst ALot of the stuff being put out these days is forgettable. How much of it will be remembered in 70 years? Most of today's dreck is dripping with political correctness and the social trend of the moment. Films like S&D have stood the test of time. Hell's Bells, they are still making money, generations after they were first released!

Hollywood certainly do not make classic movies like this anymore or compose beautiful soundtracks anymore. Sadly all the famous actors and film composers are no longer with us.

One of my favorites of all time! The love theme is so beautiful! Never could get it out of my mind! Hedy Lamar was gorgeous as Delilah and Victor Mature was a handsome and strong (of course!!) Samson. I recall the scene of him wrestling with the lion and of course when he blinded nevertheless was able to push the pillars of the temple until they shifted everything in it and He literally brought down the house!!! It was so real!!! Hard to imagine scenes like that back before today's technology. They just don't make movies like that anymore...such a shame..
God's own hand must have guided Victor Young's when he composed this, as this is heavenly and majestic! x

This is the music of Victor Young a musical genius! The likes of him will never be seen again! He has written some of the most beautiful songs there are - My Foolish Heart, Stella By Starlight, Love Letters, the list goes on and on, over 350 songs written for the movies in his time.

Nasci em 1943,quando esse filme passou no Brasil São Paulo,eu deveria ter entre sete a oito anos,minha mãe me levou, lembro que fiquei com muita raiva de anões......e pena do Sanson!!!!! Coisa de criança,mas me recordo até hoje.......

I saw this film in 1950. (Came out in 1949) Absolutely enthralled with it. Though is isn't
a really GREAT movie, it is very good. Even then, when I was about 12 years old, I loved the music! Still do! I think Victor Young did some great soundtrack scores. Seeing Hedy Lamarr in this was breathtaking! Beautiful Woman! Angela Lansbury was
also in the film, briefly; she, too, was beautiful!! Have an original copy of this s/track on
a 10-inch LP.

I have this movie on DVD. Actor Victor Mature did a good job portraying Samson, who was mentioned in the book of Judges. Who knows if his riddle is still mentioned today? I wonder how different the timeline would have been if Samson didn't get blinded and if he had survived the temple collapsing on him.

The orignal was much more pronounced in its bass lines. still nice but I miss that clarity.
