it is amazing how controlled Dang Qiu plays the backhand with his penholder. There is no weakness like 30 years ago. Sometimes Dang Qiu is even dictating. Even under pressure, he does not make the mistake to try to block with the forehand side on the backhand. Wang Hao and Ma Lin kicked off something with the attacking PH backhand. Now it seems like Dang Qiu is one of the first who grew up with this new improved penholder style.

We austerely have to say, noone stood a chance against Dan Qui in this tournament! He was dominant from the getgo and never stopped his run until the last ball was played. Amazing performance by him! A well deserved champion!

Who says penholder has a disadvantage
Everything was changed since the "invention" of reverse backhand.
You dont get the Point. In the Early penholder days, all the penholder players had 0 backhand. In China they Invented the penholder backhand topspins and brought out Players like Ma lin Wang hao and so on. But the old players only had forehand

Dang Qiu was born in Germany, grew up and was trained in Germany. He is 100% German native speaker, no accent.
