I love this tool, i bought it over 10 years ago, it was a display model at REI. It was the first premium multitool that I ever owned at the time and was perfect fit for my life style. I love the outdoors my cousin also does which got me into these in the first place. He is a bushcrafter so he loves his Leatherman, I'm a fisherman fly fishing with this tool is excellent for the non corrosive design! And the scissors although they are small, you can really get a close cut to that tag end off of your fishing line. The fit finish, smoothness, ergonomic thoughtful design makes it hard for me to look elsewhere. It broke my heart when my buddy accidentally broke my scissors trying to cut wire. Just the scissors themselves was enough for me to retire it without that precision cut. The knife is the sharpess I've seen out of a box, was able to shave my arm hairs, I mainly carry a Spyderco manix 2 for pocket knife stuff. Now after all these years I have working scissors again!!! I just mustard up got another one, we stick together like pee's and carrots 😁.
Yeah, Leatherman has a 25 year warranty. Which they famously honor despite the gross abuse it receives. Victorinox has a lifetime warranty on many of their products. They are also well reviewed to fix or replace these tools. The most important lesson? Never, ever, under any circumstances... loan a tool you care about to a friend. They will break your heart with how they break your tool. Never fails. They will not bother making things right by trading your broken tool for a brand new one, they bought for you out of guilt for being inconsiderate either.
Always had Leatherman, until a month ago. The Spirit X is such a beautifully made tool. The only thing I did was toss the case, Velcro is lame. Fits perfect in the small black Leatherman snap case.
Nice! and I agree I really don't like velcro on these tool cases! just feels cheap. this case could've been nice if it had a snap on it. Good to know it fits the Leatherman case, I hadn't actually tried that.
Excellent overview, I really like they format you’ve developed. Definitely come a long way since I first started watching. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.
Thank you! I try to do one thing better with every video, over time it adds up :) (not to say I haven’t had some flops along the way). Thanks for being a long time supporter!
Good review! I believe the file includes a metal saw...also if anyone would like additional driver capability, then the Swisstool Spirit plus ratchet might be up your alley...the Swisstool Spirit MX plus Clip is now available from Victorinox...personally, I find the Spirit( I have the XC) is too big for pocket carry and prefer the leather pouch...
this isn't something I do often but I can certainly see how it could come in handy. especially in cold weather or when you have gloves on and it might be hard to get your fingers under the cord
We wernt allowed to carry knives in school,my shop teacher said my swiss tinker was an all purpose carpenters tool. The wire bender is just a design feature from the swiss pocket knives.

I just got this Swiss tool spirit x. I was testing it out making some hardwood shavings like I usually do with my multi tools and the blade chipped. Do you think this is normal.I’m deciding whether to return it , have it repaired or exchanged. Victorinox said it was not made for carving but that they would repair it or exchange it. Thanks
I haven't had this issue, the blade steel isn't quite as hard as a lot of other tools so it shouldn't chip very easy. I would return it for repair/ replacement. thanks for sharing!
Check the Gerber Suspension NXT you can do real industrial work with a and are more likely to with its price I find it more useable than any new gen wave and even the "most premium" swisstool spirit X fidget spinner. It just works in a lightweight package with no pinching and all outside opening all locking AND spring loaded for under a $50!
Very true but to chuck around a worksite, one hand use, and potentially loose - though it ain't pretty or pleasant to use NXT works. Swiss tools are definitely functioning art that is a pleasure to use and carry.@@VIProfessor
@@gearsNtools I can’t even find one for sale! I hear they’ve released the clip for all older models too so it might be worthwhile revisiting the regular spirit x and showing the clip add on…
👍 Excellent view. The only place we disagree is on the pocket clip. Pocket clips belong on pens, pencils, and flashlights; but, NOT on knives or multitools. They look ugly, assist in losing the tool when moving through heavy brush, and ruin the feel of the handles by creating hot spots. I’m not a big fan of serrated blades, I don’t dislike them as a secondary blade, just not a big fan. The scissors work well for me. I have never needed to cut something with the scissors that required them to open wider. Years ago I did not see the need for scissors on a knife or multitool, but I have matured. We agree completely on the other points especially the use of the hooks & loops closure on the sheath.
It's a great tool! I really like a pocket clip on mine, even if it's just to clip to the side of a tool bag. that being said I get why some people don't want one. I like having the option with a clip that's easy to remove if it isn't needed
I threw my leatherman wave+ straight in the garbage can the last time I pinched my hand with that terrible design. Those pliers are unusable because of that problem. The Vic tools are much better.
The Vics don't have one handed knives because in most european countries you are not allowed to carry these knives. We have some stupid laws. But I like the excellent craftsmanship of Victorinox.
Thanks for sharing, I hadn't thought of this but that makes sense when you point it out! Thats a bummer, the 1 handed deployment is a feature I really like.
Victorinox probably will not come up with a one handed multitool in the near future, because Germany is one of their biggest customers, and in Germany the multi tool knife should be opened with two hands, otherwise it is considered a weapon, and so not able to be carried in public on a sheath on a belt for example. I'm sure there are other european countries too (England probably? Since they ban freaking spoons lol)
If leatherman puts in his tools the same craftsmanship quality of victorinox, would be the best of the best. But now leatherman put good quality control and craftsmanship only in top price tools, like charge or MUT. All the rest have some less precision and quality manufacturing than victorinox. Not quality of material, but tolerances etc...

The hook on the awl is useful for carrying a bundle of kindling or small logs tied up with some para-cord.

If you prefer spring loaded pliers then maybe you could use a rubber ball of the right size placed between the handles.
