    Hey Nelson. The first puzzle in the video isn't actilly possible to achieve in a normal game, but it is a meme position. It references a famous geometry dash meme. Geometry dash is a game where you jump over obstacles and try to beat the level without running to a wall or a spike. Some levels in this game are really difficult, especially the ones made by the community. One of these levels is Devils Vortex. Some parts of the level were automatic, so the level was way easier. The creator used these to fake verify the level, and to not act suspicious, he removed the pads and added saws to the top, in a very similar position to the 1st chess puzzle position. He was called out, and those saws were immortalized into geometry dash memes.

      I found another way of beating it. You can move king to (from our perspective) h2. There, if the black king tries to attack, the white king will attack him and if he tries to run, the pawn will attack him.

    • @HippopotamusPencil
      @HippopotamusPencil Рік тому

      @@balkan495 I have no idea in which puzzle the King can go to h2, but I think what you're saying is to move the king next to the other king. This is not allowed in chess, mainly because your king would get captured by the king. Even if you can capture the king back on the next move, that's second place, which isn't a great score in a game for two players.

      It's actually a useful skill. In a tournament game that I played, I dropped some pieces, which took the air out of me. After a couple of moves, I realized that he had started ganging up on my king, but it was in a stalemate position. Then I got the stalemate idea and ended up drawing the game.
      I'd post a position from it, but the sacrifices turned out to be unsound; there was a way for his king to escape the checks without stalemating me.

    I like the defensive way in the second puzzle you used to trap the knight. In chess u can either move Ur pieces to give them more strategic roles and take other pieces which we can call the offensive way. But u can also play to limit the choices of Ur opponent. And maybe give him no good moves which is the defensive way.

    • @dabestgrimmreaper4
      @dabestgrimmreaper4 Рік тому

      king b8 is mate in 2, d6 pawn to d7 so you can't move back, then king goes to a8, and e4 bishop to b7 mate. if white decides a7 pawn to a8 promote to queen then black moves d7 pawn to d8 queen mate, if white promotes a7 pawn to a8 knight then it's mate in 3, b6 king to c6, a8 knight to c7, d7 pawn to d8 queen mate. unless im missing something, just about every move from b8 is mate. Could always check stockfish to make sure but white's only move is to solve the puzzle.

    The funny thing about the first one is that the position is impossible to be reached in a normal game (which is trivial to see by the fact that black has not lost any piece, meaning that it's impossible for the black and white pawns on the a and b files to pass each other.)

    • @ChilledOutGuild
      @ChilledOutGuild Рік тому +4

      It may actually be possible. The black pawns could have moved from their starting ranks. If the a rank pawn takes a piece on the b rank, it would allow white's pawn to pass, then black's b pawn takes a piece on a6 you get this sort of position, repeat for white's second pawn.

    Guessed the solution to the first puzzle right away. As in the 1st move I looked at turned out, after calculation, to be a forced mate-in-8 with the most intuitive continuation. At least when you know it's a puzzle. If it ever happens in a game, assume it was rigged.
    (Well, not technically right away. Because my first thought was "how can it be white to play when black is in check? Oh, wait, the pawns are going that way".)

    Solved puzzle one. Dawn! After the entire day of puzzles I finally solve one! Albeit, it was a pattern I picked up from a previous video.
    1.a8=N+ (1. b8=Q+ fails to 1... Bb7+ 2. Kd8 and somthing like 2... Bb4 ensures that blacks King is safe)
    1... Kc6 2. b8=N+ (At a moments glance I thought it was checkmate, then I realized d5 was a escape square. Then I began looking at other options before I realized an idea in the line. An important lesson I learnt is, once there is forcing moves, never stop at depth 4)
    2... Kd5 3. Nc7+ Ke5 4. Nd7+ Kf4 5. Ne6+ Kg4 6. Nf6+ Kh5 (Now I began to worry the King would escape but...)
    7. Ng5+ (simultanneously stops the king from escaping to g2. Then...)
    7... Kh2 8. Ng4#.

    9:47 Can't Black still force a draw if Knight to e5 is played in this position?

    • @chompyzilla
      @chompyzilla Рік тому

      Bd4. Black’s knight is pinned. If black king moves anywhere but f8, it allows white’s promotion, so it must go to f8. Then bishop captures knight.

      @@ashwinpayghan9076 Black can't force stalemate there, I believe. After Bd4, black can go for Kf8. If Bxe5, the king is stalemated on top of the pawn. But If White goes Bc5 after Kf8 then Kg7 is forced, then just promote pawn into queen and congrats.

  • @Pnatz

    1:54 In this scenario, the white queen could simply move to c7 for a checkmate, eh? Since the black pawn is facing down, there is nothing black could do about it. I think I am missing something but the only thing I see is a win.

    • @duskDrifter_
      @duskDrifter_ Рік тому

      A queen versus two rooks and a knight is an unfavorable endgame (plus your pawns are on the same file, on a corner, and your king is stuck there, so even if material was even its probably better to draw)

    On the first one, you can also move king to (from our perspective) a7. There, if the king tries attacking, the king will attack him and the pawn on b7 will attack him if he tries to run.
