I’ve always liked older basements as living space. And this one grabbed my heart: including the washer, dryer and kitchen table all in one room. Something familiar to ones I stayed in when visiting family years ago. I could have made it my home place. All in all that was really a nice older home. Can see why it sold quickly. Seemed cozy. Barbara.
Good morning kids, saw some beautiful things today, with some beautiful prices!!!! I think the Him statue was in dire need of a Her statue, tsk, tsk! I'm surprised, there wasn't more antique things at the house sale, the wooden chest, was a 30's waterfall hope chest, I see them a lot! It's always a pleasure being with you on your excursions, looking forward to the next! Best, Carol
My son wears shorts most of the time in winter.... It was 12 degrees here other day (-11 C)... my eyes were watery just getting from suv to store.. I told him he was insane but he held his leg up and his legs were warm.... Where he works heat is regulated by one thermostat.... so when people on first floor complain they are cold... they turn heat up and as he is on second floor ( all open)... he is sweating up there... In the summer when I'm wearing shorts he has jeans on.... He works 12-14 hr days there.... He loves driving my Subaru..only downfall is heat is off when he's driving.... Kids !!! Actually he just turned 30 lol....
Karen does have a loop in her bag, but we prefer to be inconspicuous when at the sales.... looking at someone's items thru a loop may make the price increase! ;)
The prices... ugh... I am in the Twin Cities area and I go to Antique Stores as more of a museum day than a buy day! Gives ideas of what to look for when Garage Sale season comes back around! lolol Thanks guys for always letting us tag along!
Those prices are about what you see in Chicago antique stores. I , however, went to the Goodwill the other day and found a convex glass and carved wood frame with an older couple's photo for 6.99. I also got carved frame with old Last Supper for the same and a mid century wall pocket with a cornucopia and bird for 2.99. I was thrilled. I enjoy watching you guys look for actual bargains and have learned alot, thanks
I had no idea that Montgomery Ward was in the publishing business let alone bibles..!!! I was a little surprised when Rob agreed to $25.00 We usually see him picking up books for $5.00 or less. Gary's place is not where I would go to spend money but it would be a good place to browse and see what sells and what the top dollar prices are. Wow..!!!
I love seeing you guys joke around with each other, I never get tired of your videos! Going out in -4 degree weather is incredible! I'm in California and I stay in if it goes down to the 40s!
Karen & Rob, 🙀 Ohhh my gosh....!!! 💸💸💸 I have shopped in several antique markets/shops in my lifetime but..............I have never seen 👀 such ~over priced items~ in an Antique Shop like that one. So important to know your prices. Good Luck to them .... 👎🏼 🙋🏼 🇨🇦
The basement looked like it was stuck in the 1970s. That hanging lamp and glass pieces are what younger ones look for. Those bird panel pictures are sought after art from the 70s-80s. I just can’t see you guys learning MCM pieces just to resell. That estate sale would not even be a good auction and charity thrift stores couldn’t make a lot from most of that dated furniture.
Yeah because we are not into the MCM stuff ourselves, we don't know as much about it, and don't buy it to resell - there's lots of it here and with furniture, it's hard to ship. So unless the pieces are nice and small - like a clock or some S&P shakers, we usually leave the MCM stuff.
Aww i was looking forward to seeing you in one of your beautiful furs. Since you were mentioned on curiousity inc, i have binge watched your videos. Think u 2 are brilliant
I did not think the pretty large mirror was overpriced. Did not look like Syroco. Looked like a nice piece. Have never seen a cat fainting couch before, haha.
LOL We've dealt with Mark before, and expected an absurd price. Also, we have tried to negotiate with him in the past but he seems completely unwilling. Whenever we go see Gary, he usually has some new things - Mark however has the same stuff because nobody buys his things for those ridiculous prices.
I always wonder about the choices some sellers make when they price things - certainly not going to move tot he average buyers. That gentleman's home was kept so well - nice mirrors!
LOL Seriously!! =D It's not like we're in Toronto or New York where you can ACTUALLY GET those ridiculous prices for those things.... we're smack dab in the middle of the Canadian prairies.... in a smaller city (smaller than Toronto or Vancouver or New York by a LONG SHOT)... (I think our pop. is about 250k)
Great context love Gary's furniture love the Bible how old is the oldest Bible you guys found ? That mirror is so beautiful you guys have great taste you guys are the best.
You changed the intro music. My husband could always tell when I'm watching you guys because of the music. Lol. Now i can trick him in to thinking that I'm finally watching some other channels.
These days I call window shopping "spending my millions"!---And getting in out of the cold to browse has definite value!---(Wonder what the rent is, that the other guy has such high overhead???)
Yup, those prices were high even for American standards, but he does have a big overhead with a large store like that. That's why I started selling at shows and appointments from my garage. I can sell cheaper and make more money.. You did well with that mirror and the bible.
You know... They do that in America too, unlock only one of the two doors. I cannot tell you how annoying this is especially if you have your hands full or you just plain ole smash your body in the glass door. 🙄ugh!
If i ever make it to Canada please remind me not to go to Gary's. With the prices he had and my mobility issues i would go into a panic attack. Lol. Karen i kept thinking you had saw something you really liked, but you was gasping at the prices. You all didnt want to take a mortage on your home? Lol.
Silly question probably, but does. Can"t. Beli your city plow and salt the roads? Also, the parking lots? I judge the town's on how well the roads are cleaned I guess everyone needs 4 wheel drive
Good God, what is that man thinking? $1200 for that box that he found in someones attic??? Why not sell things so that people who can enjoy them can actually afford them???? That just irritates the heck out of me when people do that!!
You didn't get the little table at the bottom of the stairs for $15? I thought that was an awesome deal. That is, of course, if I heard right and it WAS $15.......Edit---Sorry to be blunt, but those prices in the antique store were..............well.........expensive. (trying to be nice.)
that 2nd place you guys went to the prices are horrendously and ridiculously too high....not even a collector would pay for those prices..unless they really really really want it badly..their stuffs going to be sitting there for a while.

Love the antique books; their illustrations are stunning.
Oh...the green lamp and makeup case in the garage! Very mid-century. Cool!
I love the antique malls, you always know one of the sellers, and get a good deal
Nice to look, but the pricing makes it a museum with free entry.
That's the perfect comment!!!
Holy cow, they were so expensive. "Oh honey it's a good thing you're pretty!!"Karen says. 🤣😂🤣✌✌✌❤
LOL
Always an adventure with you two!! Always entertaining!!👍👌
It's nice to c a English lady x
Great video! Hurry warm weather! Nebraska is cold & snowy too. Ugh!
COMMON SPRING!!! =D

The coffee sounds delicious. I could use some.
Yep,...only rich people shop at antique stores ...but do they ?? , they’re always so full all the time. Thank you for the great vid guys
So missing going out and hitting garage sales and thrift shops. So what does one do. Tune into Bargain Barons!!!🤗😷
I would Love an old console.
Why don't you carry a loop with you when your garage sailing it would make seeing things so much easier. Have a great day. I love love you guys.
Karen does have a loop in her bag, but we prefer to be inconspicuous when at the sales.... looking at someone's items thru a loop may make the price increase! ;)
Can win them all. Poor Rob. Guy gives him a hard time about the mirror. But like Karen says, it’s a good thing you’re pretty 😂💕
lol
That huge bottle from what I saw it's an Empoli glass, made in Italy, c.1960. But it was missing the stopper.
Did not know that!! :D Thanks for the info! =)
@@BargainBarons anytime.
It’s called a Genie Bottle. More valuable with the stopper.
I loved the red chair and footstool ❤️ I’m a mid century kinda girl...so many lovely things!

Yeah it was tough to pay $25, but the book was nice and I wanted to support Gary.... =)
Great finds ") thanks for taking us with u love u both ,blessings
I love seeing you guys joke around with each other, I never get tired of your videos! Going out in -4 degree weather is incredible! I'm in California and I stay in if it goes down to the 40s!
Haha!! -4°C is *WARM* fpor this time of year!! We are unseasonably warm this year - normally would be around -30°C (-22°F).
Karen & Rob, 🙀
Ohhh my gosh....!!! 💸💸💸
I have shopped in several antique markets/shops in my lifetime but..............I have never seen 👀 such ~over priced items~ in an Antique Shop like that one. So important to know your prices. Good Luck to them .... 👎🏼 🙋🏼 🇨🇦
With those prices, he will definitely have a tough time paying the rent! Phew! but, a great variety of really nice stuff......Bev in Maine

lol
Haha, those orange handles made me giggle!!! Those actual antique store are ex-pen-sive!! Gorgeous bible though!!
Yeah - which is why we prefer garage / yard / estate sales.. =D
How did you manage to kept such a straight face when he said $1200? Shocking prices.
LOL We've dealt with Mark before, and expected an absurd price. Also, we have tried to negotiate with him in the past but he seems completely unwilling. @@BargainBarons Exactly - very few people even look at that price.
I like the mcm curtains at 6:20.
Ha!! Yeah they're VERY retro aren't they!!! =D
Gary might have the crank, so people won't steal it.
Good thought!
Great context love Gary's furniture love the Bible how old is the oldest Bible you guys found ? That mirror is so beautiful you guys have great taste you guys are the best.
Good question!! I think our oldest bible is from the early 1800's - would LOVE to get a big decorative one with clasps on it....
I did get the Christmas pac thank you
Joseph Chavez Very glad to hear it! 😁 ENJOY!!! 😀😀😀
Those prices are very high we are expecting a foot of snow in the next 2 days here in Vermont !!! We are over do that's for sure great video
Rob’s having a day, hey! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The guy you started off talking about wearing shorts. He may have been from Iowa its pretty common here. love your channel BTW.
You changed the intro music. My husband could always tell when I'm watching you guys because of the music. Lol. Now i can trick him in to thinking that I'm finally watching some other channels.

That’s a museum bc no one is going to buy with those prices!!
LOL So true!! hahahahaha

They do that in America too, unlock only one of the two doors.
I cannot tell you how annoying this is especially if you have your hands full or you just plain ole smash your body in the glass door.

LOL Why even HAVE 2 doors!?!?!?!?!? LOL
Is Mark still in business?! His prices are outrageous! $1200 for a wooden box he’s crazy!
Yes I believe he is...
If i ever make it to Canada please remind me not to go to Gary's. With the prices he had and my mobility issues i would go into a panic attack. Lol. Karen i kept thinking you had saw something you really liked, but you was gasping at the prices. You all didnt want to take a mortage on your home? Lol.
LOL Gary's pretty good at negotiating, it;s his partner Mark who's prices are absurd, and he doesn't ever want to negotiate with us...
Silly question probably, but does. Can"t. Beli your city plow and salt the roads? Also, the parking lots? I judge the town's on how well the roads are cleaned I guess everyone needs 4 wheel drive
Yes we salt and plow the roads - this was very fresh snow.
3 hours,bless him,but he will need a month lol
LOL no kidding!!

No we ended up passing on that little table... Karen wasn't sure what we'd do with it, and to resell it we wouldn't get much more than that....
@@BargainBarons Understand completely.....
WOW!!! Gary's stuff was SOOO expensive! I do not begrudge any business owner a profit, but trying to make a killing is an issue.
Negative 4 No Thanks
Hahaha That's WARM!!!! LOL Usually it's around -20°C to -30°C here at this time of year, but this year we've been much warmer than usual. =)
Is it me or are you guys sounding extra "Canadianny" in this video, eh?
LOL
Hjjykbjjh
that 2nd place you guys went to the prices are horrendously and ridiculously too high....not even a collector would pay for those prices..unless they really really really want it badly..their stuffs going to be sitting there for a while.
It does..... we don't go too often because the prices are very high and the turnover is slow...
