Omg, you're killing me . I laughed so hard when you were sewing your dress, which by the way, is GORGEOUS !!! I only wish you would have shown us step by step how you repurposed it, you know, like a tutorial or something. I love thrifting clothes but all I'm good for is minor things, you are like a ninja, cutting, slashing, remaking the entire piece. You did a fabulous job.
Agree 100% about needing to see it step by step. I'm new to upcycling and so many videos rush through the actual sewing - which is the part I need to learn!
Love your honesty. Teaching as you learned from your upcycled pink stretchy shirt! Barbie looked gorgeous in her matching dress. You’ve got good ideas. I feel very encouraged.
You are JUST TOO CUTE! I also sew, I loved making my daughter clothes when she was little. It was enjoyable and loved putting them on her to wear. She’s now 40! I haven’t sewn in a while, I just mend things now. But watching you cut things up, I think OMG, I’m not that brave! You put them back together and they look ADORABLE on you! I love your outlook on going to the thrift store and buying garments due to the fabric, that’s awesome! You gave me a new outlook and I just might be taking out the ole Bernina sewing machine! Lol. Keep up the Great work and videos! I’m new to your channel and excited to see more!
Just came across your channel and first thing I see in the background is dolls and yarn... Told my husband and he said it looks like you found your soulmate! 😆 Thrifting yesterday... Pillowcases, books, a dress, and doll's... 🤜"🤛 And I love the colorful fabrics... Wish we were neighbors!
Love your upcycles and I feel like we would be besties, even though I could prolly be your grandma😌Anyway, the reason that the skirt was so rectangular is that it was an '1980s does 1920s" dress. Thus the oversized long collar, dropped waist and straight skirt. These were not very flattering on most girls unless they were stick thin, and even then...not so much. The reason that they were worst is because they added a lot of extra gathers and ruching that that 1920s dresses didn't have and it was just and over the top mess. You did a great job making it relevant and I was nervous about the sheer inserts but they work! bravo!
Thanks so much, I had never thought of this being similar to the 20s but that makes a lot of sense!! Regardless off age it sounds like we definitely have a lot of similar interests 😊😊
First time watching you and I noticed the Barbies...I am a collector and I also do make overs on Barbie and her friends. Love what you are doing to up-cycle the clothes.
Ah, the video I needed! The amount of thrifted unworn items that I've accumulated over the past couple years is UNacceptable! Great inspirational video!
Hi, thanks some good ideas there. For info. the triangular fabric inserts you used are called godets (pr. godays) they really worked on the dress it looked and moved so much better. Thanks also for talking about the things that didn't work, that is so helpful. One problem I have had when reducing the length of shorts is that so many now have a small amount of lycra/elastane in the weave so the sewing is a little tricky to keep smooth.
Some great upcycles! I have been sewing since I was 5 and in high school thrifted a bit. Then years later I thrifted a lot. Somewhere the sewing and thrifting collided. I also thrift things because I love the fabric and will go from a few fixes to complete transformation. You have some great creative ideas. Do not feel you cannot add other non thrifted things to a remake......the goal is to make something you love. The dress with the godetts is awesome!
It would be great if you could bring the mic in closer to you because your voice fades in an out whenever you change positions. Thank you. Love the orange skirt you upcycled.
I too want to learn to repurpose clothing! My school provided sewing lessons when I was 10 yo. That only lasted a year b/c we moved. I’m now just shy of 70yo and picking sewing up b/c my 6yo granddaughter wanted to learn to sew.
These were very impressive! 👍 Especially the dress. You were patient and persistent and it looked great on you. How did you get so skilled at dressmaking so young?! 😁
One of my first upcycles was a deep red satin blouse that I bought for $3 at a thrift store in Coos Bay, Oregon. I wanted a nice blouse to wear to work in an office, and this blouse fit perfectly, and it was ideal except that the buttons on the blouse were awful - they were old and most of the paint on them had flaked off, so I got some gold buttons out of my button stash and replaced the buttons on the blouse. The difference was amazing. P.S. I wish I looked 45 years old, as I'm 65.
Amazing transformatiaons. Especially loved your dress at the end, and the little halter top? Perhaps next me you could show us how you elasticized the back of it.
Hey Hannah, I'm so glad I came across your video. It's very inspiring and I love upcycling! I think you did a fantastic job on all of the things you transformed. And I really love the finished dress, it's so beautiful. But it did did make me laugh because I had the same kind of problems and all I was doing was a satchel bag 🤣🤣🤣 I can't tell you how many times I unpicked it and added stuff to cover my stupid mistakes. But I was so happy once it was done and it was kinda cool in the end 👍😁 Will be having a look at your other videos now. Keep going, upcycling is fantastic and the best way to go ❤️ so many thanks for sharing 🙏 Thumbs up from France. I have subscribed 🤗
Great ideas for up-cycling. Loved the skirt. It would be great if you showed a little more of the cutting, sewing part of your work. And if you also showed the dress as you worked on each section. It would also be interesting to see it pinned to your mannequin as you go. Good luck to you and I have subscribed as I’m in the process of doing this to my wardrobe of many many items. You have some terrific ideas for changing clothes into usable clothes.
I love doing that too: buying pieces from the thrift or used online (like depop) and then turning them into something else. Or fixing them so they fit me better. Except I am doing it by hand. Or do far I am anyway. I have successfully done a few bigger projects but I am still a novice really + still make mistakes. But I think we all do.
I have a pattern for a strapless dress that I loosely followed for this, you basically cut panels of fabric and then use boning with a cotton casing and stitch it on to the fabric at each seam between panels
I liked this but my motive is learning at this point. I would have watched an entire video of you hemming the shorts. Lol. From laying them out, cutting then learning the hemming technique. I am looking for “before” and how you get to the “after”.
I’m glad I found you because I need to do more upcycling. Does your serger have 4 threads? That will work great with knits. When sewing knits on my sewing machine, I use a stretch zigzag stitch then finish the seams with a 3 thread serger. Also, don’t force your fabric thru the sewing machine. Let it do the work while guiding. A walking foot is also a fantastic tool to use with knits and lighter weight fabric.
The weirdly long shorts are walking shorts. Some people like them, some people don't. I do. Back in the day, they were called city shorts. I'm with you on the uneven hem lengths, tho. They still seem to be popular at least on Amazon ads. Personally, the only uneven hems I think look good are floor length with trains. But maybe that's just me.
You have a beautiful, classic beauty. Style your hair up and away from your face to reveal your face and avoid looking older and frumpy. Great ideas that I definitely will use!
You probably meant well, but offering advice out of the blue, especially to someone we DON'T really know about their appearance, without being asked, is a tad rude. Who knows what is going on in their lives or what insecurities they might have. And yes, she has a natural beauty and her upcycles were fab! Please, leave it at that, a positive. 🤓💕
The bibbed dress is the early 1990s. Country look! Wasn’t it attractive? Picture it with a big floppy wide brimmed straw hat! Love what you did with it. I made fabric pumpkins with mine! Lol!
I do not know, if you have changed habits about you being heard. To me you were too far from the microphone most of the time.. However: I like transformations. That the Barbie doll got a dress was a tiny + . If I had dolls, I would certainly make clothes for them out of my scrap.
More likeit HAIR! LIKE sophia Laurin! It could be thinned w razor cut abit fro. This cut. Wow so cute. Watch the movies called "Sabrina" theres a newer and older version of same movie. When Sofia comes back from Paris look at her chic hair
I thought you’re going to show how to do it not rush through it fast forward to session I don’t learn that way... maybe slow it down for us beginners bye
Hi. I used to have a friend that made Barbie clothes on the side. Please talk louder. Also, you have an attractive face. When you can, consider a different short hair style. Thank you.
I love those added sections on that flower dress at the end that is so cute that totally made it made it

I would really enjoy more detail on all steps. You ended up with some good clothes that can be used. I'd appreciate learning more.
What you did with that orange yellow little flowery number was so damn cute. 0MG you are inspiring.
So creative and love your never give up attitude!
Love your honesty. Teaching as you learned from your upcycled pink stretchy shirt! Barbie looked gorgeous in her matching dress. You’ve got good ideas. I feel very encouraged.

“Middle Aged”!!LOL…. You mean old like me! I just turned 71! Cracking me up!!😂
Dress looks amazing Inserts on the skirt worked out very well Great job
❤ I really like your style, please keep the career
Just came across your channel and first thing I see in the background is dolls and yarn... Told my husband and he said it looks like you found your soulmate! 😆
Thrifting yesterday... Pillowcases, books, a dress, and doll's... 🤜"🤛

Yes! All the yes! I felt the same yesterday when i found her channel!!

I like the orange skirt better after you made the changes. Liked everything you did. But really loved the dress the best, very cute.
your intro- so relatable!
First time watching you and I noticed the Barbies...I am a collector and I also do make overs on Barbie and her friends. Love what you are doing to up-cycle the clothes.
Awesome on the dress it’s so pretty! Looks fantastic on you. The others were great too. Thanks
The lace up Hawaiian dress beautiful! WOW!
That orange dress is soooooo much better after your changes!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻

I Love the Barbie Dress! Wonderful ;)
It would be great if you could bring the mic in closer to you because your voice fades in an out whenever you change positions. Thank you. Love the orange skirt you upcycled.
you have totally Lady Diana vibe
Best compliment 🥰
Love that dress on you! Fantastic with white inserts and use of collar.
Nice job on the garments and good job on saving the originals from landfill!
That was so much fun, and informative. Loved your ‘creations’. ☀️🌸
This is the first time I ve seen you with short hair. North lengths are cute but love the short hair. Love watching and listening to your videos
Wow those were some awesome transformations, great job!
I too want to learn to repurpose clothing! My school provided sewing lessons when I was 10 yo. That only lasted a year b/c we moved. I’m now just shy of 70yo and picking sewing up b/c my 6yo granddaughter wanted to learn to sew.
I like your up cycles really nice but I couldn't hear you I love that orange skirt on you thanks for sharing
Great job. They all turned out so well. The best to you.

Barby looked great
I got my sewing machine as a gaft I am trying to get up money for buying the fabric and sewing supplies that I will need to make my own wardrobe
Amazing transformatiaons. Especially loved your dress at the end, and the little halter top? Perhaps next me you could show us how you elasticized the back of it.

Amazing! Love the sundress and Barbie outfit.

Love the tank from blouse.
Gorgeous dress! I would have appreciated more information on how to put in the triangular inserts as I also prefer flouncy skirts to straight ones.
Please show more details on the last dress. How did you put in the boning?
I have a pattern for a strapless dress that I loosely followed for this, you basically cut panels of fabric and then use boning with a cotton casing and stitch it on to the fabric at each seam between panels
Nice upcycles! You might want to try a double needle to hem knits.
you are a true clothing designer
Great commitment to upcycling. Loving your energy for reusing so many new-to-you garments. Loving your results. Thanks for sharing, Susan
Awesome job! So creative!
Your designs are very cute for your age and style
Adorable dress💃🏻
I liked this but my motive is learning at this point. I would have watched an entire video of you hemming the shorts. Lol. From laying them out, cutting then learning the hemming technique. I am looking for “before” and how you get to the “after”.
Awesome. Hope to see you pop up again 👍
You’re doing gret. Love watching you.
Great
You have a nice serger there, use it on your knit fabrics, it will make all the difference.
That dress with the Hawaiian print and the huge white bib is from 1988/89 maybe up until 1992. Definitely late 80’s or very very early 90’s.
It's a sewing video. What's her hairstyle got to do with anything 🤔
I really loved this video.

Use a walking foot for the stretchy area.
OMG what a cute 3/4 sleeve top! "reminds me of someone who is middle age" OH 😭
You did awesome ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you sister
I love it,
Superb
You needed a tube turner. Dritz sells a set of 3. Loved your up cycling ideas!❤
The bibbed dress is the early 1990s. Country look! Wasn’t it attractive? Picture it with a big floppy wide brimmed straw hat! Love what you did with it. I made fabric pumpkins with mine! Lol!

More upcycling please!!
Just posted another one actually a couple days ago! 🩷
I'm developmentally delayed and I have seizures and home bound and unable to get fabric or go to fabric store to get any thing from in the USA
More likeit HAIR! LIKE sophia Laurin! It could be thinned w razor cut abit fro. This cut. Wow so cute. Watch the movies called "Sabrina" theres a newer and older version of same movie. When Sofia comes back from Paris look at her chic hair
I’ve been making underwear with recycles material.
Your cute. Best wishes 🧵💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
I can hear you
Cool upcycling , music was way too load, made me jump after turning up to hear you 😳
Please either bring mic closet it speak louder. On loudest setting, you could barely be heard. There were a couple if OK ideas.
I can' believe that you are fourty....😮
The orange skirt was better before
Oh the horror of looking like a 40 year old!!
I thought you’re going to show how to do it not rush through it fast forward to session
I don’t learn that way... maybe slow it down for us beginners bye
Please speak up...
Hi. I used to have a friend that made Barbie clothes on the side. Please talk louder. Also, you have an attractive face. When you can, consider a different short hair style. Thank you.
