I always wondered why they even have 80 and 82v, seems odd. Just keep 80v and make it commercial grade from the get go. That said I have lot of 80v pro tools are I'm happy with them so far. Even a 2 stage snow blower. We don't get as much snow as we used to when I was a kid so it gets the job done and it's nice not having to mess with carbs and fuel stabilizer etc.

@@redsquirrelftw I acquired an 80v 2 stage that I'll be trying out this winter 👍. That also accepts 80v or 82v batteries without any modifications.

Wait, what?! 82V and 80V are identical except 1. The 82V are sourced from higher quality sources and 2. a few plastic tabs that keep them from interoperability (mechanically). There are guys on the Greenworks Commercial fb group that have cut off the plastic to make them fit each other. But ... maybe the mower is somehow designed to accept both (with and without the tabs?) That would explain why I says 80/82 on the lid.

I was planning on cutting plastic like I did to use the 82v snapper shop vac with my Greenworks batteries, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out I didn't have to!

And another mystery, your mower says CRZ428 but that's the Commercial 82V model number, which lists for $5500 with 6 5Ah batteries. The 80V model lists for ... looking ... $5500 with 6 4Ah batteries! So if they are in fact the exact same mower, the 80V option is a worse deal since the batteries are 4Ah not 5Ah.

Agreed. This mower was from Costco I believe. It included 12 4 Ah batteries, but I don't know what the retail price was because I purchased it used... sort of. There was only 11 hours on the mower😂.

@@reusefull Amazon has the version with 5 ah batteries but its only 6 of them. But Costco is the best deal because it has a leaf catcher in the back that comes for free with the package which is a $700 product sold separately (with 2 extra blades I believe). Greenworks right now doesn't have one avaliable (all sold out) so I might suggest getting the 8 ah batteries from Greenworks (or 82 Volt) directly as those batteries are a beast and will last a very long time if you have 6 of them!

Did this actually run using the 82v. Batts?

Can you use the 82 volt batteries on other 80 volt tools or is the riding 80 volt riding lawnmower only unique that way (and the other way around)?

So far the 80v zero turn mower, 80v pressure washer and 80v 2 stage snowblower are the only things that will take 82v batteries without any modification.
I have some older 6 ah 82v batteries that will go in either 80v or 82v tools, but they seem to be unique and no longer produced.

@@reusefull Oh that is great! I actually just got the 80 volt pressure washer a few months ago and the 80 volt 2 stage snowblower last year! I only have the 80 volt batteries (and I have just also bought now 4 80 volt 8 ah batteries now from the Greenworks site which the battery life is amazing on those! But its good to know that 82 volt batteries will work in certain higher end 80 volt tools from them if I want to do larger scale lawn work. I might at some point be getting this exact riding lawnmower (Costco at the minute has the best deal with the leaf catcher and 2 extra blades with 12 4 ah batteries that I found) since I have a huge collection of batteries (I own 19 of them now from various tools I bought bundled with the chargers along with buying some separately). We don't have a extremely big lawn (1800 sq.ft.) but we have a shed that could potentially fit this in the shed and the lawn could be down so fast with this compared to the walking lawnmowers we use currently.

@Finger112 I've kept my nose to the ground and have been fortunate enough to score some really good deals on some Greenworks stuff. I've sold older batteries and excess chargers on ebay as I rotate bundled equipment into my collection to offset costs.
