I have 2 of these in my aquarium. When I first saw them in the shop I asked if the leaves was supposed to have holes in them the shop attendant said yes and I baught 1, loved it so much I got a second. They look really good in my tank best plant I have ever purchased 😁
I love my lace leaf. I got some seeds off mine. Been keeping it around 79°. Haven't had it gone dormant yet. Algae was a bit of a problem... But got that taken care of.
Out of all the videos and articles, and forums, about this never mentioned the water temperature the way you did. None described the effects of warmer water temperature other than what temperature it prefers. Now I know why when I transferred it from a tank with no heater to a tank with a heater, it started to go dormant; one of the 3 died.
My favorite plant as well. I keep my tanks at 78 degrees and didn't know about the temp issue. I also read about it liking water flow so it's under the HOB waterfall. I read to fertilize with extra potassium and mine are beautifully green with 18" fronds. Flowering too in a high light tank....
Excellent video! I learned a lot. I have two of these Madagascar Lace plants in my 32-gallon tank and after a month of growth they are HUGE. I wasn't sure how to trim them back but many thanks to you, I now know to trim them down at the bulb! Both my plants have a long, rapidly growing bloom shoot...so maybe they're getting ready to go dormant. I have a CO2 generator running at one bubble every two seconds X 8 hours/day, keep my tank temperature at 78F, have reasonably good flow with my 300 GPH canister filter, and use a Kessil A160WE tuna Sun lamp about 8 hours per day. Thanks very much for your very helpful video!

I love this plant. I have 3 of them in various tanks. One is in the 75 gallon with my goldfish and it has survived! I'm growing one out in hopes of putting it in my Oscar tank. My Oscars are VERY hard on plants. They have taken my java fern apart and like to move it about the tank. Oscars are funny fish.
Great vid, Very informative. In depth detail! and yes I would agree cutting the bulb is a bad idea. Bulbs are basal buds where as a tubers are swollen roots which can be cut to propagate the plant. Which this is I don't know as I am not familiar with this plant.
Just picked up a couple, but didn’t know it was a cool water plant, glad I put it in my cool water tall tank, got lucky, thanks for the info. Btw, thought it was fake too, ha haha, it was my second trip to that store , when I inquired about it
Hi I just ordered one of these I also ordered red root foaters do you think I can grow both you know with the flow issue any help is appreciated thanks Emma
Had this plant flower and had over 90 little plants sprout. Think I flicked flower spikes and the little black seeds settled on bottom. Everytime I leave stem alone the seeds develop more but stem toys and eventually the seeds?
You mentioned that this plant can go in a goldfish aquarium, is this really true, for reals? I love this plant and did not have success with it in my tropical tank due to warmer temps. If you tell me that it will survive 2 fantail goldfish, I'd like to try it again. Thanks!
I jist got one of these I'm pretty sure. The leaf kooks like a net like this. Someone tore down a tank and donated to the local pet shop. Its not very big it only has 2 leafs. I'm glad I learned that it does not like heat. I have tropical only. I have a tank that has fish that can stand cooler water. I plan to pull my heater. I plant this in good water flower under the filter. It was something new in the store. Not much is happing with the virus.
I feel like I am the only person having an issue with this plant! I put a couple bulbs of lace in my 15 gal a few weeks ago and they started growing pretty quick, I was hopeful and excited, then they dropped their leaves. They keep growing new leaves, but they will only get a couple inches max before starting to shrivel up. Maybe it's been too warm. I lowered the Betta tank to 76 after realizing the lace requires need a max of 74. But, Bettas like it warm and so do the Corys.
No wonder mine did not survive, lots of algae and did not do well my tanks are around 78-82 degrees. Not buying it again. Mine wilted back and I ended up throwing it away. I love it so much but not for me.

Thanks for this info. Have a flowering one now and didn't know what to do as far as encouraging seeds and going from there.

Would be cool to see thriving in a tank
does this plant have any sort of dosing requirements outside of what would be typical of a heavily planted tank?

Also, will this plant do ok with root tabs in a sand substrate. I'm having success with this combo (root tabs and sand) and other plant species.
So awesome love the info.

They are prone to getting hair algae at least in my experience.
