Thanks mate. I took the back door female stopper off the car and closed it a bit so it fitted tighter on the male stopper and the noise is completely gone. Such a simple fix and worked perfect.
Thanks so much from Cape Town!
I really thought I was going to have to be tooling around with hinges and shims! 5 minutes and it's quiet. 2012 Prado 150 with 230000km.
It had never been turned around before so should be good for another 200000km and 12 years!
Thank you for viewing and leaving a comment. Glad it fixed your vehicle.
Nice to have your videos back again Darrek, nice work!
Hi Max
Thanks again. Hope you're enjoying your LC 200
I am pleased that you could help me Derek.
Another handy video, cheers and its a bonus that my views are helping you stay off the tools 😄
Hi Sam
Thanks very much for the positive comments. I remember how much you love your Prado👍
Wonderful. Thank you from Accra in Ghana.
Just watched your video, rav4 2012 tailgate is the same setup , flipped the striker like you said and the noise is gone…. It’s been like that forever but has been getting worse in the last year. I thought it was the jack loose in the bracket but evidently not. Thanks for your help
Great video! Just performed this on mine and all the annoying ambient noise is gone!
Life changing. Thank you
i am so lucky the algorithm presented me this video, this creak has been bugging me for ages and i though it was my rear shocks/bushes going bad

Good informative video. I wonder if there's a way I can fix the door locking acutator thing. Mine has locked up and i can't twist it to lock it anymore. They are quite expensive to replace too.
Good video man. Thank you.
Thanks mate, this worked, was annoying the shit out of me
Thank you, will give it a try.
Wow I have the same problem with my Prado thank 🙏🏻
Those heavy spare wheels were always wearing things out quickly. Remember on the 120 series and the skin would split and come away near the bottom hinge?
I had a few of those warranty replaced rear door shells and sold them to panel beaters. They would just weld up the split, apply some seam sealer and it's just like new.
i will give it a try and see if this fixes the irrating noise am hearing on my prado! thanks for sharing tho
Welcome. Thanks for visiting 👍

Pretty good hack. Have you got a part number for the striker?

Holden Dealer "They all do that"
Do you have a simple fix for a high pitch squeak ( when the car runs ) on the exhaust pipe rubber mounting brkt in line with RH drivers door. This noise stops when i grab the exhaust pipe in my hand. ( cold of course )
1kd engine?
I tried them all, replace all hinges and latches including spacers on the hinges. The hinge spacers made it worse. Rotating the striker will only work for a while and doesn’t solve the issue. The only thing which worked and has been faultless was plenty of grease on the latch and striker. Never had a problem since. Yes it accumulates dirt, but just clean off with brake cleaner and reapply.
And to add to my comment, I have been running a 33inch mud terrain on steel rim with large canvas bing bag on the spare, lots of weight. Grease hasn’t let me down for the past 3 years.
Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. Yes, rotating the striker is not a permanent fix. You have found a solution that works for you.
Did you try any grease.
No grease. It attracts dirt and makes the situation worse.
@@nunawadingtoyota8134 Ah! thank you for that👍.
