This is like the Number 1 Tournament Kyokushin fighter vs the Number 1 Kyokushinkai Master Practical Experience vs Constant Training under all circumstances
+Leo a.k.a Forlan Because in Japan Balrog is known as M.Bison. M.Bison is known as Vega. And Vega is known as Balrog. So in the FGC to avoid confusion they just call them Boxer, Dictator, and Claw.
+Midnight Gemini They didn't. They switched the names around in the west because they didn't want to risk being sued by Mike Tyson for having a boxer called Mike Bison.
prophet of ink V-Reversal is absolutely terrible. You push them away a bit, and then what? They're right back on hyper-offense. It's not strong at all.
Depends on if he uses a low, medium or heavy straight. Heavy straight is minus on block and Balrog WILL get hit. Balrog can guard right after the medium straight if you know what distance to keep when you do it. Low straight is safe on block 100% of the time no matter the distance.
Iwate is kicking butts all over the internet with his vicious boxer. Does anybody know if he participates in any tournaments in Japan? We dont see him in bigger events, so I was wondering whether he is just an online player.
In practice, playing from your home is a very different thing from playing at a tournament. A lot of high ranked online players have gotten "rekt" at tournaments in the past because you're in an entirely different mindset. It's not just about muscle memory.
I remember seeing this stream. Infiltration played his ass off, but man Iwate is just clean with his 'Rog. Haters can say what they want, but this was a titanic player matchup, and Iwate earned his win.
Iwate is a TAP god and generally very precise player..thats why he is rank 1... thousands of players play Balrog and obviously they all have ranked up in season 2 but if anything that just makes the competition higher especially at the highest ranks...
Qeedle that's definitely not true balrog is strong but not strong enough to carry you to the number 1 spot. You're discrediting a great player for no reason
Wish I found opponents like these back when I use to rule Alpha 3. This was a fun fight, I was actually rooting for rank 1 dude, I don't follow much esports , so it's nice to see pro vs online pro
Im a huge Street Fighter fan. I use to be a tournament player back in SF2 - SF Turbo days and I won every tournament I played in. Granted it was only within my county so the competition pool was smaller and I no longer dominate, I can still tell when a character is OP. Balrog, has all of the advantages, he can hit high or low which is almost impossible to read when he is far away, his super can hit from across the screen, his movements are super fast, his combo does massive damage and easy to convert, he doesnt really have any misses or blocked moves that you can punish. Capcom has really F'd up with Balrog and need to fix this.
balrog is strong but he has weaknesses. Laura is good against him. He's not impossible to read either. He's not OP there are no OP characters in SFV rn. The game is pretty balanced. Iwate is just super good
Yeah, i dont think balrog is op. There are many things he lacks. He has no wake up invincible (aside from super) so he has very limited options under pressure. No cross-up. Only one overhead that can only come out if he spins.
This is completly true , Balrog is out of Effin control in sfV 2.5 , very little room to maneuver , corner push on block , no way to read his low or high from a distance , insane comback potential , and c'mon , let's be real , his HP.Turn punch chips for about 7% of your health , that shouldn't be allowed . Block a punch , get 7% of your health chipped . 7% chip . Not a super 7% chip .
Considering the EVO champ is used to in person matches and not so much wifi timings is important to consider. The number 1 ranked guy probably plays online all the time so that probably the only timing he knows
Everyone is complaining about how boxer is op or cheap, but this honestly goes to show that these pros and EVO champs aren't clearly the best or maybe even that good. There's people online who just don't do tournaments that are amazing. I remember playing a guy in Blazblue CT on 360 back in the day he was the best with a 94% win rate and he wasn't considered champion. In short the saying goes "there's always someone better than you in a competitive environment you just haven't faced them yet"
Jamie James I would disagree with your last statement, "the best", he hasn't truly tested himself in international tournaments. Hasn't infiltration become less relevant as a top player since he hasn't really been as active in the fgc community? FYI got nothing against boxer or Iwate himself or infiltration for that matter. I just don't like the fact that a casual match with no real consequences matters as a true showcase.
How is 2:26-2:37 acceptable. This is not Street Fighter wut the hell Almost totally negated the very methodical, defensive chip based strategy Infiltration used to wear him down and nearly take the game. Same with 5:26. V trigger is safe to activate on block, the punches take up huge range and hit crouch, standing and jump, they are safe on hit and push you back so they cant be punished Its either you eat a bigass rekka or you get pushed into the corner, where you fall to buffed mixups
So are you saying that methodical, defensive chip strategies should never lose? Infiltration was playing keep-away and giving him ground instead of applying pressure. The cost to that strategy is that your ability to close out a game is weak and you leave yourself vulnerable to comebacks.
I never said they should never lose, its that a single punish should not outweigh all those neutral encounters won. Thats super imbalanced; he activated his V trigger off a blocked poke. Its ridiculous that you dont even need to land a hit to activate a mode that turns all your 50-50s into 75-75s I dont like these auto-stun combos in street fighter. All you need is ONE read (which is easier to force thanks to your enhanced pressure tools) and you are rewarded the level of 7-8, without even needing to use your super And thats why when the combo ended, he lost the game. He doesnt have a clue how to match up in neutral, but the oppressive punish game the character possesses overpowers that. Meanwhile, Nash isnt some defensive god
Infiltration was playing a defensive, low risk, low reward strategy. He spent half the round jumping back and backdashing so he could throw safe fireballs, only to v-reversal out the minute he got cornered. To say he was "winning" neutral encounters as if this is some sort of accomplishment is laughable - of course he was winning neutrals, his entire strategy revolved around making it as easy as possible to win neutrals. It's just that the reward was commensurate to the risk he was taking. The purpose of v meter is to prevent "turtle keep away" and "infinite pressure" strats from being good, since it gives you both trigger and reversals. Balrog's Trigger is specifically designed to prevent turtle characters from keeping Balrog out the entire game; back-dashing and turtling the entire match is no longer a be-all end-all strategy. It's certainly useful, but once someone has a v-trigger up you need to apply some pressure so you can prevent them from activating or getting meaningful use out of their trigger time if they do activate. Similarly, pressure can't be maintained forever thanks to built-in frame data and v-reversals. Even if your opponent isn't v reversing. You usually need to burn a bar to stay + on block and stay in, so you need to either succeed on your mixups or blow meter to get damage in; on top of this, you usually have to decide between damage maximization and good meaty setups unless you've got your opponent cornered. All this is why Iwate ended up losing, his meaty mixup after the stun combo was blocked, and he was back into the neutral game. Both offense and defensive strategies have limitations and drawbacks to them. Defensive strategies are dominant but low reward and vulnerable to comebacks, offensive strategies require winning in neutrals and a series of mixups to close out the game. This is not only Street Fighter, this is _BETTER_ Street Fighter. We have sacrificed a little on the neutral game and punish game to introduce a robust and complex pressure game. We have created something where little existed previously. I expect that when they come out with USF5 we will see a revitalized neutrals and punish game; we are already seeing steps towards this with most of the DLC characters and the 2.5 changes.
Thats Infiltration playing like that. Hes fully optimizing Nash's defensive options, but Nash regularly wouldnt be able to do that Nash is lower on the tier list, whereas Balrog is in top 10. Basically, im saying Infiltration was outplaying iwate, but the character mechanics allowed him to come back off one punish
I really liked how the Balrog played, Nash was spamming too much Sonic Boom, obviously I know that this is a strat and also Nash combos were great too, but Balrog countered him easily xD (yes, I know, it's a little broken)
I don't play anymore, but from what I saw, Infiltration was using techniques when Balrog would get 1 hit and a chain combo and infil would already be -50%, cheap if you ask me
don't mean to post about something unrelated to the actual content of gameplay, but I super want to get into the game. Is it too late at this point, should I wait for VI?
Disclaimer: I'm not here to bash and shit on Iwata's win. It was a good match between 2 pros. I have to say this so I won't get attacked because this comment section is quite toxic. Now IMO balance balrogs damage a little bit then he would have earned the win. I dont care how anyone looks at it but for a Ex crouching punch to do more than %50 of damage with just one easy ass combo with maximum recovery isn't right in any universe
I wonder about then in a lot of games actually. How does the top player in the biggest tournaments compare to the top ranked player in the Ingame ranking system. I mean here we see it for street fighter 5. But what about other fighting games. What about other non fighting games. Gotta check if there are other videos like this.
You can LITERALLY see infiltration adapt his playstyle from match to match to try tp be one step ahead also Iwate's approach to Nash is an ingenious one
I have no idea what this game is about, but it seems that the white haired guy had the advantage until the blue boxer was able to break his defense. Also, from just this video, nothing else, it looks like you need more control to use the blue boxer effectively compared to the white haired guy. (Not that I know what I'm talking about) White guy was spamming at one point and his combos just seem to come from a few inputs. While the blue boxer was able to use his abilities but still had to find a way in, which seemed to require more thinking and inputs. (But then again what the fuck do I know)
I have long since stopped playing SFV but I still watch it lots. 'Rogs looking ridiculous as hell though. Infiltration looks like he's just trying to get in quick hits and then reset off of everything cause he's afraid of losing half his health off one hit confirm.
List of characters that have favorable match ups against boxer: Zangief, Laura, Mika, Rashid, Vega, F.A.N.G (no one plays him though) on top of that there are plenty that go toe to toe with boxer. Cammy, Karin, Ibuki, and birdie do well against him but it's still 50/50
Respect to both players. Although I'm always disappointed to see inf not playing Akuma. Maybe I just got too used to it in SFIV. I love boxer. He's definitely fucked alot of people in the comments up because these dudes are pretty steamed lol. Respect
When Shotos are spamming fireballs it's called "zoning". when a Charger is building pressure/does zoning it's called "nerf him"! I don't get the point here, why so many cry about Boxer. the game is a complete mess anyway.
This is one thing I always wonder. Is there someone who is better than who is considered the best because of his tournament results. But because that person doesn't go to tournaments or only does locals he or she is never discovered.
as a fellow Smash player, I can explain the punchy man beats the shit out of the edgy zombie man because edgy zombie man is an EVO champ and doesn't know how to play with input lag also, punchy man is just a better character according to other people
I don't know either of these people, and I notice a lot of people are saying fanboys are just hating the Balrog player because he beat a fan favorite or something. But I have to say, the way he plays Balrog is bullshit. He literally just tanks damage until he can get a hit in, then Balrog (Being the broken bastard he is) combo's him down to the same HP he's at IN ONE COMBO. Which seems a bit ridiculous to me. I honestly feel like his combo's need a nerf.
"I wanna be right and I hate that someone is better than me, so I'm going to blame the character!" It's funny how many bullshit excuses and nitpicky complaints all these salty fanboys have.
Tell you what, I'll make a game with a character that can kill you in 3 hits, has super armor frames and had triple the health of all other characters. Let's see you run with that Adapt, evolve or go extinct mentally then.
riotron1026 i mean but look at the extreme you had to take it to for your point to be valid. There is no character that strong, yeah there are clear advantages to certain characters but no one is anywhere near unbeatable. Game balance is never gonna be perfect because there will always be characters with different play styles and the creaters will try to make them all playable. In the end if you can't adapt, evolve, or just learn a way around a strong character that's more your fault than the creaters. The only exception being if the character has an actual exploit thats being taken advantage of, but something like skill and timing based corner control isn't an exploit.
Julio Sayes Balrog es M.Bison en Japon(Por mike Tyson) Vega es Balrog y Bison es Vega pero hubo un problema con M Tyson (no lo recuerdo bn) y cambiarom los nombres cuando trajeron el juego aAmerica
I'm kinda new to this community/game so please excuse my ignorance. Why do people call Boxer overpowered? I haven't played him yet, but so many people seem to hate him.
His name isn't Boxer, but because he has a different name across regions people call him that to avoid confusion when discussing him with international players.
Somewhere out there LTG thinks both of these guys are trash.. oops just got my ass banned somehow
brooklynstylee lmao
brooklynstylee just more "drones" I guess.
brooklynstylee not enough footsies
Yet he still does brain dead Urien stuff, and says how Karin is 'easy-mode'
This is the best comment I've seen.
Boxer can get away with murder in this game.
KingofNewark you mean, Balrog. His name is Balrog. lol
Retrokidbk83 Well he is M.Bison in Japan so Boxer keeps it politically correct
Retrokidbk83 *facepalm
yes plz omfg hes name is balrog, drop the bullshit
Robert Bernfalk really cause balrog has a mask and claws
the thumbnail looks dope
Leviathan The Great like hajime no ippo
Leviathan The Great yare yare daze
19HajimeSaitou91 "SENDO SAAAAAAAAAN"
Leviathan The Great Kono Powa
"S H I N E E"
That man is vicious, grats to iwate for achieving number 1 rank.
no such hting as achievx or o1x or not, doesnt matter
@@zes3813 it clearly does lol
Why does Balrog push a blocking character from corner to corner?
Jim Gu you can't argue with iron mike
Capcom would just answer you "Why do you let him since every character has a V Reversal"
I play Vega. If I do that, I'd BE in the corner.
Jim Gu Boxing mechanics......that's what Boxers do in real life.
Jim Gu that a boxer can do punish u to the corner it happens in real life... if im not wrong
I've only watched the first 36 seconds, with no sound, and I can feel the tension and the mind game intensifying. This is a great fight!
This is like the Number 1 Tournament Kyokushin fighter vs the Number 1 Kyokushinkai Master
Practical Experience vs Constant Training under all circumstances
This was incredible. Can only imagine the amount of practice this guys got behind him.
why is everyone calling balrog... boxer?
+Leo a.k.a Forlan Because in Japan Balrog is known as M.Bison.
M.Bison is known as Vega.
And Vega is known as Balrog.
So in the FGC to avoid confusion they just call them Boxer, Dictator, and Claw.
BIPPITY BAP BOOP BOP woah, Thanks for letting me know!
WTF who fucked the translations up that bad
+Midnight Gemini They didn't. They switched the names around in the west because they didn't want to risk being sued by Mike Tyson for having a boxer called Mike Bison.
O.... makes since
Balrog should not be able to push when is blocked. That cornering is just insane and unbalanced to others chars.
prophet of ink V-Reversal is absolutely terrible. You push them away a bit, and then what? They're right back on hyper-offense. It's not strong at all.
prophet of ink that's a v skill not reversal
you have to let v skill charge
Memory~ first of all, YOU'RE mixing up V reversal and V trigger, secondly, Nash' s V reversal is also a teleport
prophet of ink balrog can actually chase that. nash's v reversal is like -20
Isaac Orlich That's what boxers do tho, they keep you in the corner and don't let you get out.
Hows boxer able to block after specials like that..? and charlie can't get an attack in? his delay after attacking seems non existent...
Balrog's straight is plus on block. Meaning after he does it, he can still attack and be safe.
We dont see him in bigger events, so I was wondering whether he is just an online player.
that means he's 100% hikikomori
Jonathan Soko how does playing offline and online affect his skill?
ShadowExcalibur Δ really, if anything it would make him better because there is no delays. unless some of these combos can only be done with delay.
In practice, playing from your home is a very different thing from playing at a tournament. A lot of high ranked online players have gotten "rekt" at tournaments in the past because you're in an entirely different mindset. It's not just about muscle memory.
it's the pressure of playing in front of a crowd.
How do you input Nash's 3 hit combo executed at 3:12 ?
I remember seeing this stream. Infiltration played his ass off, but man Iwate is just clean with his 'Rog. Haters can say what they want, but this was a titanic player matchup, and Iwate earned his win.
Everyone needs to pick up balrog...
Since he's so "balanced" maybe everyone should use him from now on.
Placer Or Capcom can just buff everyone else to that "balanced" level where Balrog "is"..😂😂lol
Everyone seems to discredit Iwate for playing Balrog as if that's what made him rank 1...
Correct me if i'm wrong , i don't recall Iwate being r1 before season 2 .
Iwate is a TAP god and generally very precise player..thats why he is rank 1... thousands of players play Balrog and obviously they all have ranked up in season 2 but if anything that just makes the competition higher especially at the highest ranks...
Did he play Balrog in season 1?
MrGrimmer I doubt it, most likely not.
Qeedle that's definitely not true balrog is strong but not strong enough to carry you to the number 1 spot. You're discrediting a great player for no reason
As somebody who doesnt keep up with the fighting game scene, this was pretty cool.
my favorite part was when he said "Sonic!" and then Balrog just blocked or spun through it those fireballs are really helping, keep throwing em champ.
since "boxer" doesn't have any fieyeballs he can spam down range I'm perfectly fine with him.
There's something crazy about a fighting game having projectiles, and one of the most complex characters doesn't have a projectile of any sort
Wish I found opponents like these back when I use to rule Alpha 3. This was a fun fight, I was actually rooting for rank 1 dude, I don't follow much esports , so it's nice to see pro vs online pro
Dream Master and Player with Balrog! ''M.K.T. Iwate''. My God.

what program can i use to record my SFV on my PC? its seems like FRAPS doesn't work.
They are so evenly matched its kind of crazy
Before watching the video: Obvious stomp for infiltration
After watching the video: That iwate guy is actually kinda good
any character can be mastered on sfv. iwate showcasing his skill once again. the best.

Hell yeah there you go James!

Result: M BISON WINS
At 6:40 btw which I rlly don’t understand
I truly respect the players who are champs by using non-projectile characters.. Hats off !!
People don't respect skill anymore. There is a huge difference between winning, and looking good whilst winning. Infiltration is a beast.
Ppl talking about Balrogs cornering but no ones talking about how many times charlie shouted SONIC
1:47 I think Charlie/Shadow (pre-Blanka) is now officially more badass than Guile. Sorry if I missed something.
I know NOTHING about E-Sports in general, but this is really cool for some reason.
God fucking damn balrog's combo juggles

Are there bolrog skins where he uses wraps instead of gloves?
why does Infiltration randomly jab out of range after throwing booms?
xC Spartan because if his opponent dashes in or gets near him, it'll be a hit confirm.
Slick Rick ahhhh ok thanks a lot
Why don't we see Iwate at sfv tournaments??
You can LITERALLY see infiltration adapt his playstyle from match to match to try tp be one step ahead
also Iwate's approach to Nash is an ingenious one
I have no idea what this game is about, but it seems that the white haired guy had the advantage until the blue boxer was able to break his defense. Also, from just this video, nothing else, it looks like you need more control to use the blue boxer effectively compared to the white haired guy. (Not that I know what I'm talking about) White guy was spamming at one point and his combos just seem to come from a few inputs. The difference between the novice and the master is that the master has failed more times than the novice has tried.
infiltration got WRECKED!!!! I was pulling for him too....
I've never played street fighter, so who would you say are the cheezy characters?
I have long since stopped playing SFV but I still watch it lots. 'Rogs looking ridiculous as hell though. Infiltration looks like he's just trying to get in quick hits and then reset off of everything cause he's afraid of losing half his health off one hit confirm.
love infiltrations Nash but he seems kinda weak now, they need him again?
havnt been playing to much of season 2
Balrog does crazy damage.
Miguel is the coolest Tekken character hands down
King>>>Miguel
Slade Facts
Macro + online delay + good skill > awesome skill
Are you guys completely ignoring the fact that the narrator says, "Bison wins" when Bison isn't even in the fight?
Thats some good clacker ball spam
Dude. Boxer is insanely good. Inanely. Good. Shut down everyone good.

woooo walk up triple kick or punch. thats is so beutiful

I find it amusing that this player nearly lost... as he was using Balrog.
I really need a sfv turbo
When Shotos are spamming fireballs it's called "zoning". when a Charger is building pressure/does zoning it's called "nerf him"!
I don't get the point here, why so many cry about Boxer. the game is a complete mess anyway.
I thought Infiltration switched to Urien? Which top player did the switch then, I forgot.
EDIT: I remember now it was LowTierGod
Balrog/boxer's corner game is absurd man
This is one thing I always wonder. Is there someone who is better than who is considered the best because of his tournament results. But because that person doesn't go to tournaments or only does locals he or she is never discovered.
plz have capcom display song name title screen plz
Hmm.. this can't be pure coincidence. He 'might' get sponsored by one of the Gods, if he keeps doing well.
Crazy-nephew_ You know Iwata isn't a random right. He was an avid SFIV tourney contender
No, I didn't. That explains why. Thanks. lol
Awesome game im really impressed
Being a smash player I can confidently say I have no idea what's happening right now 👍
as a fellow Smash player, I can explain
the punchy man beats the shit out of the edgy zombie man because edgy zombie man is an EVO champ and doesn't know how to play with input lag
also, punchy man is just a better character according to other people
Spammer that knows some combos vs Passive that knows some combos and spacing
What happened to infiltration'ss anti air. He was preaching about it so hard on season 1
"I wanna be right and I hate that someone is better than me, so I'm going to blame the character!"
It's funny how many bullshit excuses and nitpicky complaints all these salty fanboys have.
Wtf the balrog whoops ass...corners you and beats the living daylight outta ya...
great match, but if played offline probably a different outcome ;)
Everyone saying Balrog spamming moves??? 3 sonic booms back to back? Y'all just mad ya boy lost.
『Mikey C』 but the point the OP made was that Boxer didn't spam as much. Wtf are you on about
1:17 look at that insane dmg dude needs a nerf BIGTIME
Goosfraba
thats why he was the rank 1
People always complain. Over powered characters are not nothing new. Adapt, evolve or go extinct.
Crippled Zombie or wait for the next patch and dominate again, thats what many pros do
Bayonetta 1.1.5
The only exception being if the character has an actual exploit thats being taken advantage of, but something like skill and timing based corner control isn't an exploit.
riotron1026 dislike
Balrog is a very difficult character to fight in this game unlike back in SF2.
No se si se dieron cuenta pero al final dice "M. Bison wins" y no Balrog lol
Julio Sayes Balrog es M.Bison en Japon(Por mike Tyson) Vega es Balrog y Bison es Vega pero hubo un problema con M Tyson (no lo recuerdo bn) y cambiarom los nombres cuando trajeron el juego
aAmerica
mmm, ya veo, interesante (y)
Kens alpha ability to roll is defense against this teleportation techniques ryu as well street fighter 6 bring back that move please.
I will proceed to use this video to learn how not to balance my games.
Don't know much about this game but thrust punching past ranged attack looks difficult to me
Where was that guy in evo?XD
PS4 Pro version or PC?
Wow this balrog is impressive
Does not this iwate participate in championships?
Never ever.
he's probably banned so he doesn't win
ShinHibiki i really doubt that
Leonardo Medeiros he did in SFIV
Idk why he stopped going tho
I'm kinda new to this community/game so please excuse my ignorance. Why do people call Boxer overpowered? I haven't played him yet, but so many people seem to hate him.
Also, why is the character's name "Boxer"? Seems a bit dumb.
His name isn't Boxer, but because he has a different name across regions people call him that to avoid confusion when discussing him with international players.
I thought Guile had a special kick that could stop all air attacks.
Let's play a game. Drink everytime you see a dishonest mixup followed by a round ending combo. Oh wait, you're dead.
He is not Rank 1 for nothing. He is really really great. Waw!
Where have all these rog players been before s2?
Never played this game out of the series. Why do people hate boxer?
What's an evo champion?
I don't play this game, I just found this video
Wow #1 is playing like Mayweather indeed
Nobody notices how at the end it says M. BISON wins? No?
