This is a very eye opening video, i can tell you have some deep hendrix knowledge playing his axis tunes on this amp alot of people dont know that he used this amp over a marshall for axis bold as love i need to get me one of those see if its the secret to those mystical clean tones that are seemingly impossible to hit with any other amp
My first tube amp back in 1978, when I was 17, was a Sound City 100w head. What a sound when it was cranked, brilliant. Wish I still had it! I would love to review one of these. I bet the SC30 combo is terrific ;0)
Another Sound City vintage user here(50watt) but who cares?! I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your playing and effects mastery. You are my hero of the day! Buying this amp! Cab too!!
I hadn't heard of this amp until today. I feel like I must have been hiding under a rock or something. I really like this demo, at lot less talk and lot more demo so we can actually hear what it sounds like instead of somebody yapping about what they think while we all sit back wondering if they're ever going to play it so we can hear it. Kudos for a great demo.
First time in a long time that an amp demo made the hair on my arms stand up. For me the ultimate amp is 12AX7 > EL34 and this amp delivers. Thanx also for your choice of guitars. They just happen to be my 3 main guitars.
are these similar to a Sovtec Mig 60 clone amp? thereabouts, eyelet board handwired construction? Migs are insane and so are the prices.. maybea clone will work?
For some things, yes. Other things, not so sure. Apples and oranges, man. Best thing would be to have both. 🙂 The Francis Rossi fan in me prefers Sound City, the Malcolm Young / Mick Cocks fan in me prefers Marshall. This Sound City obviously is quite versatile, though, especially with its headroom and clean sounds, that much is true.
Great playing and great video....just ordered my Master lead 100!

Beautiful playing and this demo really shows off the Sound City amp's versatility. Very cool.

Do you prefer this or the Germino Club 40 for a clean pedal platform?
Can you please let me know what your bass guitar signal chain was on these two songs?
great demo, great sound and great playing!
Superb! Gonna get one.
Great tune & playing, too!
Best demo I've seen...Great job.
This kills any Marshall..... :-)
Doubt that lol
