    My brother and I both have the forty-eight and both of us love them. He has his souped up more than mine (which is mostly stock) and it is super fast and gets a little bit better gas mileage. But, yes the tank is way too tiny. when we go on rides together it helps since both of us have to get gas at the same time. But it does suck that our friends who ride ultra classics and such have to stop with us. Your review of the bike is spot on!
    Ride on! Ride safe!

      Yeah! I really enjoyed the bike a lot, but would choose my other bike so I wouldn't slow everyone down with constant gas station stops. Enjoy your beautiful bikes! 😎💚

      Thanks! And I understand stopping for gas sucks but when I was looking I chose the look over practicality

      Yes! my parents garage is hosting all of our Harleys at the moment. I love walking out there and seeing the two forty-eight's and my dad's triglide. But, your videos are awesome!

    Just for reference. I daily ride a 2013 zx6r. When I got on a 48 at the dealership, the seat was so fucking comfortable, like sitting on a tempurpedic bed. Well it felt like this since I ride a super sport

    Enjoyed your review. I've been reading about the 48 since it came out. I'll have my bike paid off in March and may get another bike. RIght now I like the 48 and Triumph's new bobber. They both excite me. Bold Peak is my favorite riding area. It's just 12 miles to the park. Thanks for reviewing it.

      nrgtim Awesome! Always glad to hear about a local Rider enjoying the same roads :)
      The 48 is a great bike, I would just keep the fuel tank range in mind and take one for a test ride. Ride as many bikes as you can! I just saw a video on the bobber the other day and I really like the styling! The floating seat is kind of different though, may have to swap that for something else! 😎👍🏼 thanks for checking the channel out!

    Not sure if you know; The tank is the reason they call it a 48. That was the year the 2.1 Gal "Peanut" tank was introduced. I replaced my tank with a 4.5Gal - love it! Good vid

    Iv seen so many videos on the 48 and i see the down flaws of having the bike. But thoes reason is why I would want one. You made the video awesome to help with my final decision. And bounce points from being from oregon. Bend guy here. Wooot woot hahha

    • @RevvingRIO
      @RevvingRIO  6 років тому

      Daniel Lopez awesome dude! It was a cool bike. My main complaint to this day is the short fuel range. It had enough power to overtake comfortably and ride in general without being scary but also without being too fun. My only other big complaint is the peg height and how it affects cornering. Glad you enjoyed the video and enjoy your new bike!

    Fucking awesome and straight to the points, im sorta deciding between this and the Iron atm. Those extra CCs on the 48 couldnt hurt but both look so awesome. Any chance you can review the good ole 883?

    • @RevvingRIO
      @RevvingRIO  8 років тому +1

      Thanks for checking out my review! Hopefully it helped. I don't have access to an Iron 883 to ride, but I did sit on one at the dealership and the seating position is better on it in my opinion. The controls are below you instead of in front of you... BUT you're losing almost 400cc's of power. Harley does have a new bike out called the Roadster, and it sits like the 883, but has the 48's 1200 in it. Also a sweet looking ride! I'm sure you'll be happy any way you decide to go. It was a fun bike, just not suited for my riding needs.

    • @lordseth2074
      @lordseth2074 8 років тому

      Revving RIO Yeah ive seen the Roadster but i just dont like the way it looks or the paintjobs it comes with, there is also the option to upgrade the Iron engine ofc.

    • @TheWesB
      @TheWesB 8 років тому +2

      +Lord Seth get the iron 883 and do the 1200 conversion. Cheaper than the 48 and insurance is less because the VIN says it's an 883.

  • @SalemCBR1
    @SalemCBR1 8 років тому

    Enjoyed the review. After riding the bike, comfortable a hell! But the lack of power (compared to my 600cc sport bike) was surprising. Comfort and handling were great. It's a bad comparison to a super sport.

    • @RevvingRIO
      @RevvingRIO  8 років тому +1

      Yeah. It's not good to compare to a sport bike, which I really tried not to do! It's its own thing for sure, if you want a comfy ride that will rumble between your legs at stop lights and glide through corners, but not ride like a bat outta hell, then this bike is perfect! Thanks for watching hommy!

    guess if you buy a new gas tank, have it painted and change the mirrors(because bigger gas tank will make less clearance room for the mirrors) buy a smaller air cleaner. you'll be the talk of the town.

    Just a heads up man, if you are gauging the 60 miles based off the fuel light coming on then its way off the stock fuel lights are junk. I took a trip on a friends 48 from Pa to Ny and didn't absolutely need gas until 110 miles id start looking around the 100 mile mark. That was with an air cleaner pipes and a stage 1 download, mostly 75-80mph cruising.

    • @RevvingRIO
      @RevvingRIO  8 років тому +1

    The gas light comes on at 60 miles, when I fill up I've used 1.5 gal out of 2.1 gal. It goes 80 miles driving like a crazy person.

    • @RevvingRIO
      @RevvingRIO  8 років тому

      Yeah, that's when it comes on and that's not when you're out of gas, but it sent me into panic mode every time lol. I guess I could have been more clear on that point. But still. 80 miles isn't much better and for certain rides, you would be left stranded unless you were carrying a gas can. Thanks

    • @CharlieMallow
      @CharlieMallow 8 років тому

    Anyone around Memphis TN (now), or South Jersey (after Sep), I'm selling my 48 for $7500, only 2575 miles on it, clean, runs great, and garage kept. Builtwell Z-bars, Screamin Eagle, HD diamond accessories. Super fun bike, good ass deal.

    For reference, how tall are you? I'm 5'8'' and looking to get this bike, but my biggest concern is having to lean forward with my arms stretched out. Sounded like the 48 was comfortable for you.

  • @pdpmsp
    @pdpmsp 7 років тому

    Great Review!
    Assuming gas wasn't an issue for range (you have extra with you for the sake of the matter) would you use it to tour. How would you say it would ride on a long stretch. Thanks.

    • @RevvingRIO
      @RevvingRIO  7 років тому

      pdpmsp if you had a solution for the gas, and bought a better seat (you feel the vibration with the stock one) I could see using it for a longer trip. I think 500 miles in a day is about as far as I would personally go on this bike. Stopping and stretching is going to be your friend no matter what motorcycle you end up with.
      Seating position is comfortable, would be even more comfortable if you're 5'11" or taller. I'm short (5'8") and had to lean forward a tad and sit really far forward on the seat.
      Overall, I think you'd be happy with it if you bought some gas cans. :)

    Did you say 60 miles to the tank? that doesn't sound right at all. my sportster had a peanut tank as well and i got almost 120 miles per tank

    • @RevvingRIO
      @RevvingRIO  7 років тому

      Yeah man, I was going by the light coming on and driving some distance after that. I never actually ran out of gas, but when the light came on it became a panic driven goal to find a gas station!

    • @antisnafu
      @antisnafu 7 років тому +1

      ACR3D1 yeah, I have a 48 and they get 48mpg ironically so you can pretty much count on refueling every 100 miles. my light usually comes on around 65 miles and I go get gas. I usually pump 1.5 gallons in which means I have .6 gallons left which should be good for another 24 miles. but I hammer on my throttle everywhere I go. I might buy a bigger tank for long trips but the peanut is too beautiful to replace permanently.

    • @mikealexander1859
      @mikealexander1859 7 років тому +1

      Revving RIO according to the manual the light comes on with 1.2 gal remaining in tank. That puts you over 100 miles of range easily. I am going to test mine with a follow car soon.

    is there no room to incorporate a mini reserve tank somewhere?

    • @RevvingRIO
      @RevvingRIO  7 років тому

      petrochemicals4u I'm sure there is room for an upgrade. I was talking about the bike as is. And I also didn't mention that I'm talking about when the gas light comes on, not when the tank is bone dry. You can probably get another 15-20 miles, but still, that's Not very far and once the light comes on you have to immediately find a gas station.

    Iron 883 vs 48? Can’t decide. Don’t know if I want to do the upgrade/conversion on the 883 or just buy the 48 and upgrade the pnut tank

    • @PeaceandSupport

      Mostly gonna be doing commuting/around the city but I will be on the freeway too. Whether it be for visiting friends (Vegas to Cali, bout 3-4 hrs) or just getting to certain areas that require the freeway. 15-30 min at most. I really can’t decide, I’m leaning more towards the 883 and doing the 1200 conversion but I don’t know. 😂😂 helo

    • @RevvingRIO
      @RevvingRIO  6 років тому +1

      The 1200 felt underpowered in my opinion, so I can't imagine having much fun on the 883. I'd spend the extra $ and get the bike you won't get bored with.

    2 gal. gas tank. 60 miles to a tank. are you saying this 1200 cc gets 30 miles per gallon on a fuel injected bike? that can't be right. am I wrong?... $13,000 bike?

    • @RevvingRIO
      @RevvingRIO  8 років тому

      2.1 gallons. I never rode to E, but having only 2.1 gallons I always had a heart attack when the gas light came on at 60 miles. You could probably make it another 20 miles... But not much further.
