Warning from the same album is pure fire and features a stunning improvised guitar solo from Tony Iommi some have said it's Hendrix level, it was improvised to save time as the band recorded the whole album in just 12 hours to save studio time cost, the song is a cover from a little known band called The Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation, their version is also pretty good too, Aynsley is a pretty good drummer and has worked with Frank Zappa, Jeff Beck, John Mayall, David Bowie, UFO, Journey and Whireshnake.
Wow Lee! You've really never heard this? How much Sabbath do you know? It's imperative, as a rock and roll rebel, that you learn at least the first six records. 😉✌️ Until then, "Misty morning, clouds in the sky. Without warning, a wizard walks by...." 🤘
@@L33Reacts"Often times I've wondered how much there is to know." (Zep lyric) 😉 I'm 54 and still learning! It's so awesome to experience with you your induction. Unfortunately, "there's no way outta here, when you come in you're in for good." Gilmour ✌️ Hey...ya know, like you, OZZY loved John Lennon and as hard as he went, he listened to Beatles at the end of the day. We all learned from them.
Black Sabbath - Track Black Sabbath - Band Black Sabbath - Album ……that how it appears on my radio in my car ! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼 P.S. Ozzy plays a haunting harmonica on this track 🤘🏼 (The Wizard) became his Nickname after his Solo album “Blizzard Of Ozz”
Bill going nuts on a standard kit with only one rack tom! Loved your reactions to the *tonks* of the cowbell. This album (that great cover!), Joni’s Ladies of the Canyon, and Mountain’s Climbing, wonderfully enhanced my summer of 1970
I'd completely forgotten the harmonica!! My friend and neighbour introduced me to this one and 'Paranoid', probably 'Masters of Reality' too. Kinda embryonic yet identifiably Black Sabbath. Bill was a monster and something of a revelation from the first, Tony the riff-master and rock-crusher with Geezer holding down a big bottom, Ozzy howling over top. Dark fun. ✌🏼😉🎶❤️🍁❤️✨️🦇
Black Sabbath. As a young teen discovering rock, it was fascinating to me that this group made a song that went, “I am Ironman!” and the boys in our group always played the riff. Hearing them now reminds me of those times. I bought Paranoid, but then it was Led Zeppelin that captured me. Mr. Moo is a great sidekick! 😀
Ozzy blowin some harp. Too much. Great song. After having read The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien, Geezer penned The Wizard as a tribute to Gandalf. Fun reaction. Do more Sabbath man! Do this whole debut album, you won't be disappointed.
What an incredible debut album, and one of their very best songs. Bill Ward's drumming always stands out, and he used a 'minimalist' set back then. Ozzie's voice sounded a bit different on that first album. Great, just different.I can still remember hearing this album for the first time and being blown away after the first song - 'Wicked World'. BTW, if you havent already done that one you should. One of my favorite songs period, let alone favorite Sabbath songs.
You definitely have to do every song on this album. The song that comes after this song is one of my favorite songs of all time. I just said songs multiple times. I’ve only had one beer.😂
I’m liking this double play thing you’re doing or second listen. I agree. I also wish I could react to something that I’ve never heard before. I’m not saying I’ve heard everything. But I’ve heard quite a bit.😂
What a cover iconic pic on the front then inside the gate fold this poem the album then starts with thunder, rain and a tolling bell Still falls the rain, the veils of darkness shroud the blackened trees, which, contorted by some unseen violence, shed their tired leaves, and bend their boughs toward a gray earth of severed bird wings. Among the grasses, poppies bleed before a gesticulating death, and young rabbits, born dead in traps, stand motionless, as though guarding the silence that surrounds and threatens to engulf all those that would listen. Mute birds, tired of repeating yesterdays terrors, huddle together in the recesses of dark corners, heads turned from the dead, black swan that floats upturned in a small pool in the hollow. There emerges from this pool a faint, sensual mist, that traces its way upwards to caress the feet of the headless martyr's statue whose only achievement was to die too soon, and who couldn't wait to loose. The cataract of darkness forms fully, the long black night begins, yet still by the lake a young girl waits. Unseeing she believes herself unseen, she smiles faintly at the distant tolling bell, and the still falling rain."
I could listen to this without Ozzys vocals all day. It such a great riff. Three instruments almost soloing all the way through. Effectively a “ fuck it play it play again !!!! Love the cow bell
I was laughing when I heard this. I'm 71. When this album came out we had already been listening to guitar virtuosos like Clapton, Page, Hendrix and Blackmore. I thought Sabbath were really unsophisticated and too simple. Yeah really. How stupid was I. I love heavy riffs. Tony was the king of the heavy riff. Geezer and Bill were a fantastic rhythm section. And not much that hasn't already been said about Ozzie. I know it's not from this album but if you want to truly hear what I mean, listen to the live version of Children of the Grave, recorded in Birmingham, unfortunately without Bill Ward. It was from "the last tour." Play it LOUD.
So, perhaps if Marie Antoinette had looked into metal, understanding the alloy and who fashioned it, she may have kept her head from the guillotine! ❤️🎸🎸🎸♾️ Why Sharon Osbourne kept hers?
To this day; this remains as one of THE best debut Albums ! On release; I immediately purchased it for our Boarding School ( High School ) House : Communal Dayroom. The word got out to our Teaching-Staff and I was requested NOT to play this satanic LP ( Which had an inverted cross on the rear cover ) ! Guess what ? The album sounded a LOT better-er at a higher volume ! 🤙✊️👊🎸🥁🎵🎶
What track by Black Sabbath should we do next?? Let me know! 👇
Rat salad
planet caravan
these are deeper cuts then the radio plays
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
All the other tracks of this stunning first album!!

Wicked World from the same album . Bill showing some jazz chops .
From the US album. We got Evil Woman!
This freaking song. So good. Bill Ward rules!

Album release on Friday the 13th of February 1970!

Great cover even though Ozzy mixed up the lyrics. He sang “I was warned about you” instead of “I was born without you”
What a riff! That was fantastic
One of the best bands ever
The song " BLACK SABBATH" from the band " BLACK SABBATH " from the self titled album " BLACK SABBATH". Also, Love the " Zappa on the Crappa" poster!
Haha me too I love that poster. Perfect “back of the door” poster
Have this album and I went to sleep playing this album in college my freshman year, 1974-75 school year.
Listen to The Writ next!
YES! Keep going through the entire album, it is a landmark album and should be heard. Enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶🔥
Symptom of the universe. The beginnings of thrash metal a decade before. Unreal drums. Bill ward is a beast

The first Black Sabbath album. This takes me back to high school.
Really made me want to hear NIB....!
In a TV interview, Sharon said that Paul McCartney was Ozzy's favorite concert act.
Bill going nuts on a standard kit with only one rack tom! Loved your reactions to the *tonks* of the cowbell.
This album (that great cover!), Joni’s Ladies of the Canyon, and Mountain’s Climbing, wonderfully enhanced my summer of 1970

One of my favorites by BS, so many good songs
The birth of metal this album absolutely love it ❤❤❤
Heaven and hell. Masterpiece. Legend ronnie james dio on vocals

Gotta hit The song Black Sabbath. It's the first example of doom metal. Awesome song
Great pick L33 and Mr Moo! 😂
Spiral Architect is a good tune to hear.

Didn’t realise l was a Facebook friend of the woman on the cover of that album how mad is that😮

Yeah me too… that is a killer riff. I’m glad we got to play it twice basically! 😎😎
❤🏴
🙏🙏🙏🙏😎
Symptom Of The Universe. / Hole In The Sky. my two go two tracks but I really like as a bit different Spiral Architect.
This was 1970! Scared the shit outta the hippies. 😅

Do Children Of The Grave! Or Symptoms Of The Universe!
My friend was in Mythology but left the band just before they changed and renamed ….he does say had he stayed he would have died too many substances
So, perhaps if Marie Antoinette had looked into metal, understanding the alloy and who fashioned it, she may have kept her head from the guillotine! ❤️🎸🎸🎸♾️

will give you 2 suggestions Sabbath Bloody Sabbath & Symptom of the Universe
What I can't really get - why Ozzy didn't use a harmonica much more often? Very cool idea to use it here.
