    For anyone playing in 2022, for a 2 player game just cut the monsters health if its above 3hp -1or -2, bosses - 3, and final bosses -3 or -4 blood echos. All up to you to make it fun and balanced.

      Also just keep one boss in the deck and remove 1-2 monsters.

      So I have 2 questions:
      During a boss fight, since they dont flee, u can skip step 6. But if they r a boss do you go back to hunters dream and then come back again? Or do u have to stay?
      Also, fire paper confuses me cuz it says "x= the combined dmg of all USED ranges weapons." But if every round everyone makes a move once l, and then goes to the hunters dream (where u get all used weapons back to ur hand) how is there ever going to be a used weapon at all?
      Let's say I have just got done with a round and got to hunters dream. I get a upgrade card, discard a different card (to maintain 7 card rule), and get back my used cards after banking blood echoes. Now I have a clean slate pretty much. So I go back to a fight and I chose my chikage, and I want to use fire paper. Assuming I'm doing this right, I do the dmg of my chikage (3) + x (ttl dmg of used ranged) but since I have all my used cards back, my fire paper does 0 dmg? And if this process is repeating every round, I'll never have used weapons to add the # on for my fire paper. This renders fire paper useless.

    Small clarification regarding reclaiming action cards. At 6:19 you mention that the dreaming player get to reclaim discarded action card regardless that they died or not. It's not entirely true.
    If a player died they do not get to reclaim discarded action cards during the dream step. UNLESS they died in a round that they played the dream.
    So...
    Scenario #1 - Played Dream and lived. You reclaim discarded action cards.
    Scenario #2 - Played Dream and died. You reclaim discarded action cards.
    Scenario #3 - Played another card then the dream and died. You DO NOT reclaim discarded action cards.
    I simply think that the way it explained could cause for players not applying the rule properly. For reference see manual at page 12.

    • @boardpep9711
      @boardpep9711 7 років тому

      Thank you for the suggestion! Just to clarify, only the players which play the Hunter's Dream card take part in the first two steps of the Hunter's Dream step. This is talked about starting at 5:56 in the video. There are a few cards which break those rules, allowing players to bank blood for example, but those cards detail what parts of the step you can do. Then afterwards, players who died (but didn't play Hunter's Dream) get to join with those who did play Hunter's Dream and take upgrade cards. This seems to be what you're saying as well.

    One thing to clarify: If a hunter dies but did not play a hunter's dream card that turn, they do NOT recover their cards. They still restore their health and get an upgrade.

    I just played this with a few friends and it was a lot of fun! it reminds me of munchkin with Bloodborne theme. I kept back stabbing my friend and learning when to play it safe vs going all out is the key to winning. I think the 7 monsters and 3 bosses is kinda low and makes the game go fast, but maybe I can add more to make the game more endurance based. overall I am happy with my purchase

      Watch It Played , thank you for comment. only question that my friends and I had was the hunters dream portion. We played the game where during step one, you could cast the hunters dream and avoid the fallout during the turn and come back out after the hunters damage turn. Or was it only meant to be played during the hunters dream phase and it's not a castable action card?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  7 років тому +1

      You do play the card at the beginning of the round (in Step 1), but keep in mind it doesn't prevent all damage.
      Your Hunter does not take part in the fight, but you may still be damaged by the Monster’s attacks. Fortunately, you minimize the damage suffered: you only take half of the damage inflicted by the Monster’s Attack, rounded down.
      Then during the Hunter's Dream step you perform the other benefits that the card provides you.

    My friends and I played and we had several questions come up, most of them revolving around Hunter's Dream. We didn't know if "any damage taken" included things like Molotov Cocktails or Cannons, cause that'd mean 1 / 2 = .5 rounded down. However the rulebook says Hunter's Dream only halves MONSTER damage. On top of that, we didn't know if that meant that you take half damage from each individual attack, or half of the cumulative damage. The last issue we ran into was Upgrade priority. We had a player who used HD on the same turn everyone else got killed. We argued whether or not the player who used HD would get priority picking an upgrade, or if it'd be the standard order starting from the first player. We tried to Google it but mostly just found other people arguing about the same things.

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  7 років тому +4

      1) Hunter’s Dream reduces all damage the player would take, including those dealt by other players.
      2) Each individual attack is halved, you don’t add them all together and then divide.
      3) Hunter’s Dream is always resolved in normal player order, no matter how players got there.

    So um if a card with instant effect is resolved, does that mean both the basic dmg and the instant effect are used in this step? Like Cannon has basic dmg of 2 and an instant effect of dmging other hunters, so when resolving the instant effect, the cannon will do dmg to the monster plus dmg to other hunters and then the weapon will skip the hunter atk step right?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  8 років тому

      Just the instant effect is resolved during the Instant phase. The other damage it does is resolved during the attack monster step, as normal.
      Sometimes the Instant effect will specify (like with the pistol) that you get to do your damage during the Instant Phase, rather than later, but that's just because the Instant effect specifically says you get to resolve your damage on the monster at that time.
      Hope that helps.

One question that I haven't seen answered anywhere--if a hunter chooses to play a weapon, but dies to the monster in the monster attack phase, is the weapon card still discarded at the end of the round or can the hunter keep it since it wasn't actually used against the monster?

      No, if a hunter dies the card they played is discarded. Only way for card to not be discarded is through card effects, such as Hunters Dream which instructs the player to pick up all their used (AKA discarded) action cards (which also now-used Hunters Dream)

    2.If I Fight with a boss, and I don't kill him at the first round, în a second round me and the hunter are low HP, is activate +1 hp if the final boss is Mego's Wet nurse?

      Hey Grigoras, I usually do my best to answer all the questions on our videos, but I shot this one long enough that I don't recall the answer, and I don't have my copy to be able to check for you. In this case, I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!

      1. It says instant, therefore the effect is applied moment the card is revealed. That means you do damage before the monster, unless otherwise stated in the card.
      2. You gain +1. Effect on Mergo's Wet Nurse state that "At the begining of each round, each hunter gains 1 Health(Up to their maximun health)". This means that every time you go through 8 phases of the rounds (skipping "Reveal new monster" card agains the final boss), you and other gain health.

    • @Mandemon1990

      You can attack without transform card. You just need to play any of the action cards that deals damage. There is also only one transform card per player, and you get it back any time you play Hunters Dream (which also returns to your hand).
      Transform cards purpose is to have an extra delay between everyone revealing their cards. It lets you see what others play before you choose your ranged or melee card. This can be useful if you know that your opponent might be lying about their intent to use certain weapons or skills, as transform lets you see their card first, then choose your attack (and it needs to be an attack, you can't play non-attack card)

    Hi! great review. Just one question: When one hunter dies because of a boss ( we suppose multiple rounds, is correct? ) when he comes back (in the next round or only when all the hunters comes in the hunter's dream)? Thanks :)

    • @boardpep9711
      @boardpep9711 6 років тому +1

      Thanks for checking out the video! If you die while fighting a boss (or any monster), you come back during the Hunter's Dream step of that current round, much like someone who actually played the Hunter's Dream card would. And this will happen if you die by yourself too. You still gain an upgrade card and go back to full health, the only difference is that you don't take your used cards back (unless you also played Hunter's Dream that turn) and you don't get to bank your blood. Instead you lose it!

    • @Francesco91gh2
      @Francesco91gh2 6 років тому

      Thanks for the fast answer, but i think that i was not explained myself. You say that "If you die while fighting a boss (or any monster), you come back during the Hunter's Dream step of that current round" BUT what happens if a hunter died and no one played the "hunter's dream card"? The died player came back in the next round? EX: We have a boss that kill 1/3 hunter. The Hunter that is died gain the upgrade card etc etc... (do the normal things in the relative steps - hunter's dream) but for killing the boss (that not goes away like normal monster) we have another "new" round. That Hunter (that was died) came back in these new round (even if the other players didn't go to the hunter's dream because they didn't play the relative card)? Thanks for the attention ;) you're great!

    • @boardpep9711
      @boardpep9711 6 років тому +1

      I see what you mean! The Hunter's Dream step technically occurs even if nobody actually plays the Hunter's Dream card. So in the example you give above, that player would die alone and lose their banked blood, then during the Hunter's Dream step, they alone would take an upgrade and reset their health. After that they are treated just like the other players again. So if the Boss you were fighting lives for a second or third round of combat, the player that died earlier is back fighting in round 2 along with the other players.

    I've been wondering how the transform weapon card works... Are you stuck with the weapon you played? Or do you pick it up at the end of every round?
    Would you transform the weapon multiple times per boss fight?

    • @boardpep9711
      @boardpep9711 7 років тому

      Thanks for checking out the video! The bit about how the Transform card works starts at 3:07. During the game, any cards you play in the round are normally discarded. So in the case of Transforming, you'll discard both the Transform card AND the card which you transform into. You won't get either back until you use your Hunter's Dream on a later round.
      Whether a boss is still alive at the end of a round or not, these cards will be discarded and you'll need to choose a new card to play when the next round begins.

    • @Daralantan
      @Daralantan 7 років тому

      Thanks for the response. I figured out what my confusion was on this a day or so later. I had mis-understood "action or transform" basically as "play an action/instant/ranged" with the transform being required for melee weapons.... D'oh!

    So instant activations are used even if first? I used a hunters pistol which does an attack immediately. Yet friends said it doesn't count since I'm first. The card description says "If you are the only one to play hunters pistol, inflict damage immediately, instead of in the Hunters attack step."
    Ranged weapon
    I get that instant attack plus the hunter attack right?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  6 років тому

      Instant effects are talked about at 3:34 in the video. These will resolve during Step 3, which is before the Monster Attack or Hunters Attack step occurs, meaning you would likely guarantee that you deal damage to the monster this turn. In the case of the pistol, the damage it deals is dealt in this step instead of the Hunters Attack step. You don't deal damage during both steps.

    We had a crazy game today with the fellows and this scenario occured:
    It was the last round, only the final boss was to be taken out, and two players were virtually equal in blood echoes and trophies(including the ones they would advance if they both helped to kill the final boss).
    However, one of them played the Hunters Pistol, adding one blood to his unbanked ones before the monster attacked. When it finally did, he was killed, and then the remaining players killed the boss. After that, a huge debate arose, regarding if he was to be attributed with any trophies or not. Having helped for the kill says yes, having been killed says no. Any thoughts?

    I want to start off by saying that though very light, this is a rather respectable simultaneous action selection/bidding game. While an interesting application of the theme, the game play itself is rather disconnected from the source game. I found this to be "A Card Game Called Bloodborne" if anything. I think the IP might throw people off who are coming to it expecting a "hack and slash" action game of some sort.
    The game having no mechanisms that represent player invasions (like a temporary traitor/player attack action) is a bit of a missed opportunity.

    Few questions that rulebook or video didn't answer:
    1) How you remove cards from game when you have 8 cards?
    a) face-up, so that everybody sees what was put out of play?
    b) face-down (so that card put out of game is secret)?
    2) One of monsters/bosses has this ability that prevents of damage do not work.
    If monster dealt 4 dmg.
    What happens if somebody played hunters dream?
    Player with hunter dream will get:
    a) 4 dmg (monster/boss skill being stronger then hunter dream)
    b) 2 dmg (hunter dream being stronger then monster/boss skill)
    3) Flamesprayer
    If 1 player playes melee weapon and 2 flamesprayers are in game, and monster rolls 1 dmg.
    How much damage does melee weapon player take?
    a) 1 dmg * 2 (for overall flamesprayer ability) = 2 dmg
    b) 1 dmg * 2 (for first flamesprayer) * 2 (for second flamesprayer) = 4 dmg?

      Question: How do you remove cards from game when you have 8 cards?
      Answer: Removed cards are played face-up, so that all players may see what was put out of play.
      Question: If 1 player plays melee weapon and 2 flamesprayers are in game, and monster rolls 1 dmg, how much damage does melee weapon player take?
      Answer: 4 damage. Here's the breakdown: 1 damage * 2 (for the first flamesprayer) * 2 (for the second flamesprayer) = 4 damage

    The rulebook is terrible for this game. Thanks for the video.
    Do you all know how tiebreakers work? Not for final scoring but in general. For example, one monster has a reveal effect giving "hunter(s)" extra blood. if multiple payers are tied would all players get the bonus or would no players get the bonus? There were multiple players on both sides of the argument.
    I would assume the player with the first player marker would break ties (then proceed in turn order) during gameplay, but the rulebook only indicates anything about ties for final scoring.
    There are a lot of small nuances left out of the rulebook like this driving me crazy.
    Thanks in advance.

      Unfortunately, I have most of my games in disarray as I'm renovating my shooting area - so I can't look up your exact situation. If I knew the exact wording I could help better, but if memory serves me correctly (and as you've posted), the wording seems to say "hunter(s)" which would mean multiple hunters can be tied to gain the bonus. My sense is that they would not include the (s) if there could only be one hunter who could claim the benefit.

    • @Mandemon1990
      @Mandemon1990 Рік тому

      Pretty sure there are no cards in the game that would lead to need for tie breakers. If the card says "Give X to hunters with most Y", then if two players are tied they both get the effect.
