I think it’s up to us, all of our children and grandchildren need to know and appreciate him - I brought my kids up on Prince, he may never be their favorite, they may not love him the way I do, but they absolutely know he is beyond talented and they are well aware of the gift he was to music. My son when he was just a little guy used to like Starfish and Coffee...I loved catching him singing it to himself 💕
Prince was awesome on the guitar. I remember reading a guitar interview on Steve Vai and in that article he was impressed by Prince's guitar playing. Prince's guitar playing was on the tip of the iceberg for him because he could play numerous instruments and write, produce and engineer his own music. He was a modern day Mozart.

Glory Mosby When Prince was alive, he didn't like the Hendrix comparison. He always pointed out that he played more than just a guitar when he appeared on American Bandstand the first time when Dick Clarke made the comparison. Remember his last tour was just him, a mic and a piano.

I have been a fan of him since I saw him in one of the Batman movies when I was a kid. Have been a fan of him since.
We all know Prince was a one of a kind Artist, but I can't believe how he stayed so young looking and fit. He never aged up til his passing at 57. Damn this was a hard one to take. I just can't believe he's gone. It's just so, so very sad. RIP sweet Prince.

As a young Minnesotan, I never fully realized Prince's talents until now. In a way I feel ashamed, but I think that's how most people react to the passing of someone nearby. once They are celebrated, the best and most wonderful parts of their lives are showcased. My memory of Prince is being 12 years old and finding a "Purple Rain" album packed away in my mother's closet. I had just learned how to use a record player, so I put it in just like all the other records I had found (there was a box full, ranging from leroy van'dyke to Joe Walsch). It was sad and happy all at the same time, and I enjoyed all of it. I was too young to live through it, but it meant a lot to me in my own little world. black or white? I didn't care. From LA or MN, I had assumed the former. Being a Minnesotan, it makes me proud that he decided to stay a Minnesota throughout his life. Now that I know more, I am so impressed with his talent that I wish I had been able to see him live. But I guess those are life's tragedies, as is his passing. I'm glad the world sees him for who he was and embarrasses him. I feel he would have wanted it that way.

Thanks for this comp! I have always told others that 'Purple Rain' is one of the best albums I have ever listened to. Easily a top three for me. The different directions that album takes the listener is truly an art form that few can accomplish in today's world. If you haven't listened to it, do yourself a favor, listen to it from start to finish with headphones. Great production and writing to name a couple great things about it.

Dude could literally make his guitar speak. I think people forget how gifted he was on the strings. His superbowl performance made me want to weep. He's always been extremely knowledgeable. Didn't know about this performance with Lenny though. Love them both. And I really miss his humor. God, I miss Prince SO bad.

I personally feel the same sense of loss as when Michael Jackson passed. After listening to Prince's songs again today, I wish I would've listened to them more often, they're sooo damn good!!! His music is such a huge part of my life and I'm sure many others as well. Honestly, it's a huge compliment to both artists when you try to argue which was better, Michal or Prince! Music, dance moves, videos, style, voice, hair.......THE HAIR!!!!! LOL....ok I needed that, a little laughing between the tears!!!

I feel like we're losing our musical heroes left and right. Doesn't matter if you're rock, metal, or pop. Here in MN.....four days after the news.....we're still feeling the sorrow and pain.....the #PurpleRain that may exist forever. Not too long ago, Brian Gallagher, one of Prince's buddies in New Power Generation, passed away. With all the musical talents that are departing this world, we're becoming ever so lonesome on Earth while Heaven is becoming ever nosier. I have good news btw. Paisley Park Studios (Prince's recording studio) is set to become a museum!!!!! Some of his fans are petitioning for a bronze statue to be made in his honor. Stay tuned folks!!!!!

Prince is our biggest star and we're never going to forget him or his impact on music here. We lost him way too soon. We're thinking of turning either Paisley Park or First Avenue into some sort of museum as well as trying to get a bronze statue made in his honor.

It would be such a pity to split up all those beautiful, one-of-a-kind clothes, instruments, artwork, and just to save the beautiful, fantastic homes they created from becoming a shoe store or a parking lot. He gave it recognition he even covered it , What an Honor for RadioHead . because "CREEP" is a fucking masterpiece. So no matter it was white Brit boys. The supreme royalty in American Music tapped their shoulders and said "YOU HAVE PASSED THE AUDITION" So he thought Michael Jackson and Madonna were shit .... Would ANYONE be able to sit with Prince and argue he was wrong ?

Once a while back in Chicago, Prince was having concerts 3 days in a row... around the year 2012 - I bought tickets to all 3 shows! I was able to see the first 2 shows, but couldn't make the last one; I was asking family members to please go see the show - which, I asked a nephew to go and take his girlfriend... his response was irritating -- 'I don't know that man...' What a shame - some young folks just do not understand or know the value of this absolute LEGEND !!!!!!!!!!!
