The look oc gave peter was perfect, basically saying "i wont survive this, so before i go i want to thank you for showing me the error of my ways, and bringing me back to the man i use to be" so brilliant
They'll meet again in December. I bet you that doc ock was talking to Tobeys spiderman in the nwh trailer but they made it seem like he was talking to toms spiderman.
I always liked Pete's suit being damaged. It has some sort of meaning that not all superheroes are invincible or everything is perfect. Not to mention some battle scars looks sick.
Yeah most days hero outfits do get a little dirty, a few tears, and have some blood, but seeing this suit so shredded and damaged in this scene really sells how hard Peter is struggling to win this fight.
4:56 Really like this part of the scene, it really quickly and effectively demonstrates just how insidious his robotic limbs are. Even as they have completely lost their grip on Octavius' mind, they're still so reluctant to comply with him and shocked by his demands to them until it becomes completely clear that they can't regain their control over him. And then a few moments later, Octavius finally exerts his own control over his own arms, gripping Peter again, but no longer with the malicious manifest of old, instead as an extension of Octavius himself this time.
Although, I wouldn’t consider it as just reluctance, but confusion and were debating to listen to him for Peter. I noticed one of the arms listening to Peter’s speech on giving up the thing you want the most to do what’s right. It’s as if they were also affected by these words and it led to the four debating with Otto before agreeing to listen to him again, because the fusion reactor was their directive, just like it was Otto’s dream, but it’s as if they gave up on it too, because their true directive was to serve Otto.
@@mikephelps9238 You can make the argument that the arms were in a way, trying to help Otto do what they thought he truly wanted to do, which was to accomplish his dream of creating the fusion reactor and finish his life's work. That's what Otto wanted all his life and the arms basically twisted it in a way where their constant persistance made him forget WHY he wanted to create the fusion reactor in the first place, which was to help people. Just because you want something doesn't neccesarily mean it's something you need.
In defense of the arms, they were programed for two things - to do the experiment and protect their wearer. Everything they did and/or compelled Otto to do up til this moment was in line with their programming.
I remember around the time this movie came out, someone interviewing Alfred Molina asked how he'd feel if, after his whole career, he was best known for playing a comic book villain. His response was something like, "I should be so lucky!"
The coolest part of this scene that often gets overlooked is the scene where Doc Ock takes control of his destiny, says "I'll do it", and rises on his arms to stand above Spiderman in a camera angle usually used for heroes. Then walks off to do what is needed for the greater good.
@Captain France nah I watched no way home but even if this isn't what happened after Doc got sent back, he would still need to destroy the reactor and that would require him to kill himself. I mean if he still had Nanotech arms you could say he could form a breathing device or something but as it stands, I don't think he could survive... unless he turned into HISHE Doc
3:37 I love that little smile of euphoria he gets when slowly retaining his mentality back like he is reminiscing over a fond and funny memory to him while repeating it to Peter as an inside joke.
I have to disagree. In multiple fight scenes you can see that Doc Ock and Spider-Man are just straight 2004 cgi and looks choppy. I still love the movie don’t get me wrong, but the visuals are kinda dated.
I liked how Peter went from being Doc Ock's learner to becoming his teacher by the end of the movie. Peter teaches Doc Ock about sacrificing your own dreams for the greater good and that he was using his intelligence for the wrong reasons and seeing Doc Ock deciding to listen his learner was powerful and seeing him use his intelligence to save people and sacrifice the very thing he was passionate about was a great character arc for him.
The symbolism in the end is subtle too. Octavius was something of an idol to Peter. Someone he looked up to. In his final moments as he goes to destroy the machine himself Peter gets to look up to octavius once more..... literally
Alfred Molina and Willam Dafoe were the best actors in the No Way Home, The interaction between Tobeys spider man and Doc ock was heartwarming I’m glad Doc Ock redeemed himself once again
@@somerandolad What would you imagine they would have said, though? I'm curious. Peter 2 has nothing but bad news for Norman, seeing how his son tried to follow in his father's footsteps and died...not to mention Peter's last words to Norman renounced him as a father figure in his life. I'd genuinely love to see a good conclusion for the two of them, but I don't know where they'd factor it in.
@@isaacthegoat1432 I think that both him and the green goblin have the same thing going on. Otto and Norman are good people, but the things that turned them into monsters were the green goblin personality and the arms going apeshit, I really like that tbh
@@Pllayer064 no there is now another timeline for both spider man and the amazing spider man movies where all villains are cured and still alive. Technically you can say it’s like Loki version.
One difference I loved between this scene and No Way Home is the way the two Peters approach Ock. Tom's Peter repairs the inhibitor chip with his knowledge of advanced machinery and access to high tech Stark equipment. Tobey's Peter can't do that, at least not in the moment -but, unlike Tom, he's able to appeal to Ock and get him to see reason. He reminds Ock of what's most important to him. Not his work, or his ego. His principles and his wife. Tom had the smarts, but Tobey had the heart.
Tobey's Peter and Otto had special mentor and mentee relationship before the accident. He was able to let ock see reason thanks to special bond they had. MCU Peter did not personally know Ock so of course they cannot have heart to heart conversation like Tobey's Peter did.
"I'll be right there!" *Punch* "Won't be a minute!" *Punch* "Help's on the way!" *Punch* "Coming to ya!" *Punch* "Be there before ya know it!" *Punch* "With you in a jiffy!" *Punch* *Punch* *Punch* *Punch* *Punch*
“The power of the sun…” “In the palm of your hand.” “Peter?” “Otto.” "It's good to see you, dear boy." "It's good to see you." "You're all grown up. How are you?" "Trying to do better."
5:07 I love the detail that if you look at the "eyes" of the arms, you can see them flicker from before the inhibitor chip was destroyed, to after, which means otto is using his willpower the way the chip would have been used
Otto always liked Peter; but once he got an understanding of why he was “lazy” being Spider man he admired Peter. It was a bit sad (and part of the drama) that Otto could have been a surrogate father figure for Peter; and in Spider Man 3 you see his anger and vengeance come out because he didn’t have a Uncle Ben to guide him.
The fact that even the limbs on Ock are legitimate characters in this movie, and you can somewhat distinguish them from one another and figure out different personalities for them, really shows just how perfect this movie is. HOLY SHIT THEY REALLY DID IT😭😭😭😭😭 AND THE TENTACLES HAD PERSONALITIES AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To this day. When Doc Ock, turns to look back at Peter it gives me chills. Such a beautiful filmed scene. Alfred and Tobey were in sync. Spider-Man 2 is undoubtedly my favorite of the Trilogy, and one of my favorite Marvel and just Super Hero films.
4:03 Utterly amazing that what Peter eventually uses to best Doc Ock isn't brute force or cunning, but lessons he was taught throughout the movie by Aunt May and Octavius himself. It's so heartwarming that there's more to the film than "might is right"
that is the brilliance of this film. it balances beautiful heartwarming messages with some good old fashioned asswhoopings. extremely rare in action movies
When Peter took off his mask and got choked, it really shows us a more human aspect of Spiderman, he's a person and not just some super hero with powers. I loved the Raimi films Spidermans suit would get pretty ripped up and thrashed in every film.
@@videodeposu8741 yeah, but i think that conversation isn't for defeat doc ock, Its only to convince him to get end of the sun, even doc ock doesn't want FIGHT with him no more, he's hold spider Man chest but in a point that he could speak, he tighten spider Man involuntárialy when he was talking with his machines, the FIGHT ends when spider Man electrocuted him
His last words though, “I will not die a monster!” Made it even more wholesome now to rewatch the reunion between him and Tobey in NWH, for some reasons. ❤️
@@1codeking hm, I think there's a part of the Doctor kind of regretting that he has to destroy his work eventually in the end. He was close to harnessing the 'power of the sun', but he had to take it down in the end. Either there's a part of him regretting he had to destroy it, and maybe there's also that "NO!" as in the chaos the artificial sun was bringing should stop and that its creator itself is the one to to stop it.
There are some really good quotes in this movie. 1. "Intelligence is a gift to be used for the good of mankind. A privilege... " 2. "Sometimes , to do what's right , we have to be steady and give up the thing we want the most , even our dreams."
It always felt powerful how Peter defeats his enemy not by beating him up (although he does rough him up quite a bit), but by talking to him man-to-man and appealing to his good side.
@Joey Style Why everytime someone critics MCU there has to be another person saying to trust Kevin Feige? Like seriously people... you guys act like he never made a mistake or something like that. The problem isn't how they are bringing this Otto to MCU, but why. He died, sacrificed himself. Just let him have his fate. If you guys want so bad to see Molina again (and I kinda want that too), just make a different Otto. MCU already did that with JK Simmons. Earth-1999999 Otto Octavius wasn't even mentioned before. Is that really how you wanna see a different interpretation of the character? Through multiversal jump? It's just so... mediocre.
You know, I always love how Tobey's suit always gets shredded and nearly destroyed. It's such an underrated effect, it shows that he's fighting with only himself, his powers and nothing else. No high tech gadgets, no super suit- just a kid who's fighting, getting hurt, getting injured, wounded and bruised- yet still so committed and determined to do anything to save everyone. I don't know how to explain it, it's like you see that he doesn't always have the upper hand. He struggles, he get thrown about, he gets nearly killed, and in all those situations his suit slowly gets torn and torn until it's his skin taking damage.
also shows you that tobey as spiderman didnt fight chumps either. these were serious and violent people that were ready to completely destroy the city if it hadnt been for spiderman. its the same reason people like rocky balboa. the dude fights borderline psychotic monsters in the ring, takes a whoopin, then comes out on top.
I liked how the arms had minds of their own. At first the arms were just trying to protect Ock and then slowly started to corrupt him. Sounds a lot like Venom tbh
Arguably you could say the same about Green Goblin. Norman Osborn was a good guy, though somewhat unstable and vain/jealous of others. The Super Serum (or whatever his version was called) corrupted his mind and his already egotistic nature became amplified to the extreme.
@@JazzStation95 yeah i did wondering at that part in the first trailer. Probably those arms had control or something. I can only come up with that thought
He didn’t die fighting Spider-Man but Spider-Man still has a relation to his death he convinced him to do it I doubt he wants to kill spiderman again In the trailer we see him fighting shocker so he probrably supports the idea of being sent back because now because of the spell there’s a timeline where ny gets destroyed But if I’m wrong maybe he just doesn’t want to die twice Lmao
@@trees1922 SpiderMan didn't convince him to do it, he just brought him to his senses and made him realize who he actually is.... even after Doc told Peter how to stop the reactor, he immediately went to do it himself even if it meant he was going to die but Doc stopped him because he couldn't see Peter die trying to fix his wrong doings.
Spider-Man 2 is to Marvel what Man of Steel is to DC. I’ll take it a step further and say they are once in a generation films. Truly amazing. (I would also like to extend this sentiment to The Dark Knight.)
I agree (besides man of steel, good film but not on the same lvl) I hate when ppl compare Spider man 2 and TDK they were both excellent s tier not only superhero films, but films in general for different reasons.
"this is really heavy." Little bit of levity to break up the finale, these are without question the best spiderman movies and have gotten better with age.
I'm now picturing a hero Doc Ock trying to talk some sense into Peter (heavily influenced by the symbiote) in Spider man 3. Would be a great parallel between the actuators and symbiote manipulating them.
@@nicolekathtrespicio3560 Honestly? Though cured Doc Ock and cured Norman don't exist in the same timeline, I can see both of them lessening Venom's effects on Peter in the third movie. Otto and Peter would probably share a talk similar to the one featured above, and the parallels would be amazing, maybe leading to a distraught Peter swinging away to the belltower to get rid of the suit. As for Norman, he'd use Oscorp's resources (or he'd ask Harry to use Oscorp's resources) to trap Venom and separate it from Peter, because Norman remembers how helpless he was against the Goblin. But these are just opinions
I mean, if he had Tobey by the throat when he was taken, surely he’d have to do the same thing he did in this scene upon returning. That, or he returned to a destroyed city.
Doc Ock was taken from the moment right before he was naturally redeemed anyway, SPOILERS BELOW unfortunately the only difference would be that he would be missing an arm and that might make him unable to drown the machine and then the world gets destroyed
The old Spidey villains had so much more of a personal connection to Spider-Man. The MCU seriously lacks there when every villain seems to only care about Stark.
Well MCU as a whole focused on Stark. Down played Spiderman as a Sidekick, and was Dependent on tony like a sugar-daddy. I'm not saying Tom was bad at being spiderman. Just the writing made Spider-man so much weaker a character than he really suppose to be.
@@spottedslash4256 making mcu spidey weak and irresponsible felt like kinda the point. that spidey isnt as mature as Tobey, but hes slowly creeping toward that and thats the goal. maybe its not what Spiderman is supposed to be, but it is realistic to what a highschooler with powers would be
@@marselo1316 I don't think he meant weak as in physically or even mentally weak, because as you say, overcoming these problems is what makes for a good arc. I think, what he was referring to, was that the narrative dependence on Ironman is making the MCU Spiderman weaker as a whole. And I agree. It's so over hammered too, especially in Far From Home; despite the fact that Spiderman has interacted with Tony for all of two movies and a half, we're supposed to believe that he carries a tremendous guilt over his death, that, frankly, no other hero who has known Tony longer seems to share. As the memes say, MCU Spiderman is more of an Ironman Jr. Meanwhile, War Machine, who was supposed to be his replacement in Ironman 2, gets a cameo in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
@@lanceislateagain Yes. Thats exactly what i meant. MCU has made Tony the focus. I was a surprised when they Made Tony, Spider-man's Mentor. Lets face it, he is by no means the most Moral or Ethical of the Avengers. So i never understood why Peter Parker would stick to him and not someone like Captain America. Spider-Man and Iron man are Worlds apart from each other in Demeanor and lifestyle. Robert Downey Jr. makes Iron-Man very likable. But in the Regular Marvel universe. Iron-man is not the kinda guy you want to put all your trust in.
Heard a speculation that he's not actually bad, but just pretending to be bad and help Peter in secret by sabotaging the other villains or soemthing. We havent seen the movie tho so who knows
This is how Doc Ock should be portrayed. A scientist driven mad through longing for his work to be appreciated. Torn between vengeance against those who rejected him and his dream of being recognized for his genius mind and his inventions. And I love how this film expands on his tragic background and turn him into a sympathetic villain who gets a well deserved chance of redemption in the end.
7:19 stuck in my head for many many years after seeing his heroic sacrifice, while I am glad Octavius is cured now from No Way Home, this film still had him become heroic, saving New York even at the cost of his own life.
Whose actress should be play as Ottoi Octavius/Doctoress Octopus with Alfred Molina as Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus in Sam Raimi's Spiderman Universe in 2004's Spiderman 2
“To do whats right, we have to be steady and give up the thing we want the most, even our dreams.” For those who saw no way home, this quote hits a lot harder now
"Everybody loves a hero. People line up for them, cheer them, scream their names. And years later, they'll tell how they stood in the rain for hours just to get a glimpse of the one who taught them how to hold on a second longer. I believe there's a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams". -Rosemary Harris as Aunt May, Spider-Man 2 (2004)
"But the one thing they love more then a hero, is to see a hero fail, fall, die trying. In spite of everything you've done for them, eventually, they'll hate you. Why bother?" -William Dafoe as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, Spider-Man (2002)
Because "Whatever comes our way, whatever battle we have raging inside us, we always have a choice. My friend Harry taught me that. He chose to be the best of himself. It's the choices that make us who we are, and we can always choose to do what's right." -Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Spider-Man 3 (2007)
6:19 I love the tension created in this scene. The emotions displayed great disparity. 10/10 would watch all over again. This scene alone captures the true essence of Spider-Man 😉
I like how throughout the movie Doc Ock is shown as the superior guy and Pete has to talk him out of being bad. It represents that heroes are not automatically stronger, but more courageous. He is still taking the leap, because he knows no one else can and will do, knowing that he is risking his life, family and love
Key detail, the tip right arm, is named Flo, Alfred and the puppet team worked hard to give each arm a personality, "she" is the one who always would check behind him, give him a drink of water, remove his glasses, they theorized they all had a personality, and that she was the motherly 1. Protecting him from being hurt, and the one that would "talk" to him the most. It's also the arm he looks at when he gets control. When the arm can read his mind and tell he wants to die as a man not as a empty shell of one. It submits to what he wants because he can't bear to see him suffer. The amount of detail is unreal
@@e.j.5053 he didn't scream no??? Tf? It's an ahhhhh, the same kind almost all movies do when a character is moving something heavy. The key line is "I will not die a monster"

Alfred Molina was such a gold in this film! He came back for No Way Home only for the money and still gave 110% of his performance is honestly incredible! It just shows what a professional he is. Actually it's fair to mention that everyone did a great job in that film and especially the former cast just proved once more why we loved them so much back in those days.
As a kid, This was my favorite shot in the movie. At the time, I thought it looked cool to have him look at the camera facing away from this artificial sun he created. As an adult, I genuinely cried a little. The shot here is perfect. The way his theme swells into a more heroic sound as he slowly turns back gives me chills. I wish I could explain further why this is one of my favorite movie moments of all time, but it’s just too perfect to put into words.
I really hope No Way Home doesn’t undo Doc Ocks character arc. I appreciate that Kevin Feguie respects the Raimi movies. He probably knew that no one could top Alfred Molinas performance, so he re-used him, which is fine. I just hope they do it right.
I have a feeling it could be a version of Doc before this moment, I just don't see him sacrificing himself and then going into the other universe to cause trouble especially after he accepted his fate AND learnt to control his arms
Imagine if they pull out the TaskMaster card on Doc Ock, and turns out “Ooooo Doc Ock wAs aN iLLuSiOn” then that’s probably enough to ruin No Way Home.
@@1KQ_ that is totally possible because we are dealing with a multiverse now and the possibility that the Otto that we saw in the trailer is not the same as the one in 2004 is very high maybe it is an Otto that cannot escape the manipulation of the tentacles robots
Just noticed something - in the end, Doc Ock did use his intelligence "for the good of mankind". Even Peter couldn't think of a way to stop the machine and save New York, but Doc Ock decided to use his intelligence as a "gift" and figured out that the machine could be stopped by drowning it, thereby using his intelligence "for the good of mankind". One of the cleanest and best villain character arcs out there.
3:33 I love this moment. Because Otto was tired of a world where men like Norman were on top. And he was sure that spiderman would be some arrogant narcissist in the same way. But then it turned out to be someone he knew, not only that but one of the few people he respected as similar to himself. He can’t believe it. “Peter Parker, brilliant, but lazy” Peter was the ray of hope for otto, that the world wasn’t damned and controlled by evil men.
@@vetarlittorf1807 I don't think so? Cause the whole plot of curing them only for them to die once they get back useless. All redeemed villains are probably safely back but in an alternate timeline.
@@vetarlittorf1807 Unlikely due to the nature of timelines; this ending would still be canon in the universe that Maguire's Parker was drawn from, but would be changed in the universe Octavius was returned to, basically creating a new timeline.
When I was young, Doc Ock was my favorite, and I always like to think that somehow he survived this. He was a role model for me because he was a scientist, but he was also a powerful villain and formidable opponent. A lot of the time scientists are stereotyped as helpless dorks, so it meant a great deal to me.
Yeah, love that little detail. The novelization makes it sadder - as the arms are shutting down, they futilely plead for their "father" to save them :(
The acting is so good in this scene especially from Molina. You can tell he is using the inner monologue method when Peter tells him about not listening to the arms
5:56 Those keys were the same as when Spidey also saves the baby from the burning building. This time, he saves Doc Ock but with a slowed version of the soundtrack.
@@yousifassar4275 It will just spit on his conclusion, he sacrifice himself for fix his errors. Make him back at this moment of the story like a villain (again) will be terrible
@Kevin C Not just that. Some of the dialogues are quite profound as well; like there are lessons to be learnt from it. This is why Raimi's Spiderman movies are the best. But No Way Home might just beat it.
Quality? Okay, I'm being dramatic, I actually liked Spiderman homecoming...but Far from home was pretty generic imo...seen it, forgot about it the next day. That's why I'm really not excited about No way home...it's cool that they're bringing the multiverse, but if it's as generic and boring as Far from home, no thanks.
I have no problems with MCU Spiderman, but this ending for Doc Oc was so beautifully written that I will probably continue to consider the two universes separate. The final "I will not die a monster" while destroying his life's dream is too poetic for him to just come back and be corrupted again.
Well Alfred Molina said his story starts from the river when he said that line, plus if u seen the trailer, he seems happy to see Peter, i hope he isn’t a villain in No Way Home and maybe he can be an asset to fixing the multiverse, thats just what I think tho
The Doc Ock in MCU is an alternate reality version where he still lives as a villain. He's a variant of Doc Ock that was accidentally created by Dr. Strange.
@@pharaohfilipe He’s definitely gonna be a villian and with Molina saying we pick up with Otto right after the river it’s not a variant Octavious but this one. It’s gonna be the arms controlling his dead body (The arms glow white when he’s in control & they glow red when the arms are in control and in the NWH trailer they glow red so the arms are back in control
I think Green Goblin will be the main villain of the movie. Doc Ock is not someone who would work with Norman Osborn. After all Doc Ock is not deranged
What an incredible scene, Ben Parker living on through Peter, and inspiring Ock, just like he inspires Peter. It really is beautiful and speaks to the relationship between Peter and Ock. As soon as Spiderman took off the mask, Octavius completely changed and retook control, to protect Peter. Without Ben Parker, Spiderman doesnt exist, at least in terms of what makes him a hero. Uncle Ben doesnt get enough credit for that. One line from Ben was all it took to save the day. Very powerful.
Look carefully at the light on the mechanic arms at @3:55. They flicker from white to red, when they take control of Doc's mind and convince him that Peter is wrong. Then again at @5:07. They go from red to white, where Doc has regained control and is no longer under their influence
That may explain Doc Ock's evil appearance at first in the NWH trailer, for the lights on the tentacles are red in the trailer. Tentacles are controlling him, just maybe.
In the beginning of the Far From Home Trailer you can see the train of this movie where Doc was fighting Spiderman, so you can assume they got the evil version of Doc of when they were at the train fight.
I like the subtle development MJ goes through in the trilogy. She goes from being scared to climb down the cable in 1, to trying to fight Ock in 2, to being really involved in the final fight in 3. Even though I do like the MCU's MJ and Gwen Stacey better overall, I have to give credit where credit is due.
She drops a cement block on Venom even while hanging many feet high. She doesn't get enough credit and with fans of the MCU universe obsessed with making their MJ the best, the Mary Jane of that universe ended up turned into a silly cockroach.
@@Smokeyourselfstraighttohell I think it's smart. Usually, the good guys get the whole cast and nobody says anything. In the Spider-Man movies, MJ got the entire male cast. Lucky girl! I'm sorry but they only say Gwen an MCU MJ are better because they don't get kidnapped. Mary Jane getting kidnapped is the beginning of the final arc for the raimi movies. The villains kidnap her to draw Spidey out. If Andrew's villains were kidnapping Gwen she'd be screaming her head off two

"I will not die a monster!" That line hits a lot harder after Insomniac's Spiderman. Both are my favorite iterations of the character. A tragic villain who started out wanting to help mankind. But at least this one had a chance to die as the good man he used to be.
Apparently all the villains were sucked out from their fight with their respective Spider-Man, Like with Green goblin he was sucked to the MCU from his last fight with Peter, so it’s possible that Otto is being sucked out before this moment therefore not Having reached his redemption
When he gets transported back from the MCU, he has the Stark-tech inhibitor chip and he's down one tentacle (since one got destroyed by Electro). If he gets sent back to the exact moment he was taken away, then, sadly, he may still have to die destroying the artificial sun.

Peter 1 also explained that nicely.
Id really like to see the arms talking to him from ottos perspective
In defense of the arms, they were programed for two things - to do the experiment and protect their wearer. Everything they did and/or compelled Otto to do up til this moment was in line with their programming.
I remember around the time this movie came out, someone interviewing Alfred Molina asked how he'd feel if, after his whole career, he was best known for playing a comic book villain. His response was something like, "I should be so lucky!"

And it’s true. Only 2% of actors make a living outta what they do. And outta that 2%, not all of them get cool roles like a comic book villain.
The coolest part of this scene that often gets overlooked is the scene where Doc Ock takes control of his destiny, says "I'll do it", and rises on his arms to stand above Spiderman in a camera angle usually used for heroes. Then walks off to do what is needed for the greater good.

I’m actually astonished at how well the effects and CGI still hold up. It’s a 17 year old film and it still LOOKS great.
Plus it was a big step up from the 2002 film
Yeah, a good balance of physical props and a little bit of vfx for icing can make for a great shot.
The cgi wasn't as over the top in this film don't remember it being as prominent in the first one either. The 3rd is when it got a bit crazy
The best CGI is the one you can’t notice.
In his final moments as he goes to destroy the machine himself Peter gets to look up to octavius once more..... literally

Tobey is pretty smart himself. Even brilliant. He just doesn't have the means and reasons to achieve everything he actually can.

The brilliant but lazy line is incredibly well acted. It hit Otto that Peter was never lazy. He was just too busy being Spiderman
Otto always liked Peter; but once he got an understanding of why he was “lazy” being Spider man he admired Peter. As for Norman, he'd use Oscorp's resources (or he'd ask Harry to use Oscorp's resources) to trap Venom and separate it from Peter, because Norman remembers how helpless he was against the Goblin.

In the novelization, he was boiled alive by the fusion reactor while the arms begged him to save them.

@@TrueJEMtheArtist According to the actor its the same one.
I remember watching this movie when I was 4 and instantly became my favourite movie of the trilogy.
3:33 I love this moment. Because Otto was tired of a world where men like Norman were on top. And he was sure that spiderman would be some arrogant narcissist in the same way.
But then it turned out to be someone he knew, not only that but one of the few people he respected as similar to himself. He can’t believe it.
“Peter Parker, brilliant, but lazy”
Peter was the ray of hope for otto, that the world wasn’t damned and controlled by evil men.
I’m really glad Octavious finally got a redemption that didn’t require him dying.

@@vetarlittorf1807 I don't think so? Cause the whole plot of curing them only for them to die once they get back useless. All redeemed villains are probably safely back but in an alternate timeline.

When I was young, Doc Ock was my favorite, and I always like to think that somehow he survived this. “Omg thats awesome!”
A small detail can change everything
That may explain Doc Ock's evil appearance at first in the NWH trailer, for the lights on the tentacles are red in the trailer. Tentacles are controlling him, just maybe.

Never noticed this development thanks for pointing it out! New respect for raimi mj
Don't forget she cheats on literally everyone she dates in these movies 💯
She drops a cement block on Venom even while hanging many feet high. She doesn't get enough credit and with fans of the MCU universe obsessed with making their MJ the best, the Mary Jane of that universe ended up turned into a silly cockroach.
@@Smokeyourselfstraighttohell I think it's smart. Usually, the good guys get the whole cast and nobody says anything. In the Spider-Man movies, MJ got the entire male cast. Lucky girl! And since all the villains were always going to her, Peter almost always left her waiting, so she shouldn't be silly: stay anyway MJ, you are wrong, but at least you are taking care of your own life too! 😝😂
