He should have pushed for a few pieces paid up front prior to a consignment deal , when you have alot of pieces , you can get up front money on a few pieces before he takes it all for consignment , if you have 1 piece THATS NOT the same as a collection , he would of paid it

I mean I know it would be frustrating but the best thing that could happen for their business would be to have customers cancel the order with a 5k deposit they lose - they keep 5k for nothing it’s great I want a business where I just have 100 clients place one non refundable deposit a year and cancel it...

Customers can def be a pain in the ass, end of the day if it don't make money it dont make sense. Not everyone operates on the level of honesty upfront and staying to their word as you do.

Man your partner needs to grow a set a balls. It was his job to get the deposit before you agree to anything. Headache clients always exist, but they are frequent buyers. The last thing you want to do is freak out and burn a client. That is never good for your reputation. Whenever I ask a question to someone and they say "i don't know" I immediately jump on the phone with the client and figure this shit out. He didn't drop the deposit off because he wasn't sold by your partner. End of story.
