The curve is flattening because NY, NJ, Mass, Penn cases are going down from 10 thousand to 2 thousand per day, while in other states like Florida and Georgia are going up from 300 to 1 thousand per day. I think the American government needs to look at how NZ and AUS is doing it.we are starting to open now, after being at home for 8-9 weeks. But OUR government actually provided for us- so basically, WE provided for OURSELVES with our taxes.

@@jakob9595 So jakob9595, that means that the virus spreads with people working and then when the ones that stay home HAVE to go to the grocery store, etc. they are at higher risk of catching it because more people will have it. Then when you people that want your freedom get it and end up in the hospitals you will put the health workers in risk of their lives because they don't have enough PPE (personal protective equipment). You seem to be pretty reckless with other people's lives. Maybe you could go first on choosing which family member you want to sacrifice for your freedom.

@@lauriejo5810, the hospitals are not full of Covid patients. Most recover nicely on their own. Some people are forced to work. So what is wrong with those who want to work? A lot of people don't have the choice to sit home and get a check for doing nothing. Many hospital workers are being forced to work sick even if they have Corona symptoms and they are infecting their co-workers and risking other hospital patients that are in for other reasons. A friend recently had open heart surgery and was being cared for in ICU by a nurse that was positive for the virus because their jobs are being threatened if they don't come to work. So all of you that can sit home and be happy with your little stimulus check keep bashing those who have to work or even want to so they can feed their family.

The people who are treated with vitamins C & D, zinc, and hydroxychloroquine before needing to be put on a ventilator are the ones who recover. The pneumonia caused by your body's response to Covid19 turns into sepsis and they die. Vitamin C & D & hydroxycloroquine & zinc (which helps your body absorb and utilize the zinc) help to fight off the infection.

State Governors decide when to re-open schools, and Sen Paul didn't say any particular school should open by any specific date. Fauci won't decide, nor will Trump. But, if you want to hate on Sen Paul, and you don't want to think for yourself about how your own state Governor will decide to reopen schools, because you have an exalted image of Dr Fauci and you think Sen Paul dissed him, that is certainly your choice. Also, it's a very poor look to wish illness on anyone and their family.

No matter what happens with COVID-19, every state Governor will issue orders to reopen schools at some point. Dr Fauci said that this virus may be with us permanently. So, no matter what, some children will get COVID-19, and some may die. Open your mind. Do you think that every Governor who opens his state's schools wants kids to get sick and die? Opinions will differ on when to reopen schools. You needn't assume that people with opinions that differ from yours want children to die. I don't know if Sen Paul will have his kids homeschooled. If he can afford to do that, and he wants to do it to keep his children safe, why would you fault him for caring about his children? Aren't parents supposed to care about their children?

Is that your point? he's a senator, and some people make minimum wage. so, a senators should make minimum wage. @@scott8238 Dr. Paul is an ophthalmologist. That is an eye doctor and he specializes in eye surgery as apposed to an epidemiologist who deals with viruses and other diseases. Listening to an ophthalmologist's opinion on coronavirus is like listening to a plumber or electrician's opinion.

I find it funny everyone who agree on reopening keep hiding in their house and refuse to go out. I believe everyone will know someone who hospitalize cause covid19, if you think reopening is the correct choice, then you should be the example, don’t hide at home but instead be the first to go out.

PHASE 1 should be those at the highest level of power doing frontline work under the same conditions expected for average residents for 2 weeks. If all goes well, then the same type of reopening can be expanded to the average resident. So, for any non-essential business, the CEOs, board of directors, biggest investors, etc. should staff those stores. POTUS, Cabinet Secretaries, Senator Majority Leader, and House Speakers gets to be frontline contact tracers or mop up hospitals as patients come in and out. At each subsequent phase, the most powerful go first for at least 2 weeks under the same conditions expected as the average worker. Then, if all goes well, then the reopening will be expanded to average workers.
I've been going out the entire time. So has my wife. We are still working at full capacity and thriving. Good luck to the rest of you that want to live in fear and sit at home. I think you're foolish, but your choice.

If this were just the flu do you think scientists would be so concerned. The difference is the regular flu is not nearly as contagious. The flu has been around so long that people have built up an immunity to it. With covid 19 no one has immunity. It's a New virus 10 times more deadly than the regular flu. There is a way to do that. The government could help people out until we can stay home and get a handle on the virus. And also get the hospitals, nursing homes, etc. caught up with the equipment they need. The Democrats are trying to do this in congress right now but the republicans are against it.

I get it... listen I HAD a friend, he's not here he died along with his family because one person didn't want to cooperate and stay in the house and because of that my friend and his family is no longer with us.. I would rather be alive when we get to the other side of this... I know you have to do whats right for you but your decision doesn't only affect you.. It affects you and the people you love.

The error with no masks versus masks was also made by the CDC. They were trying to save the PPE for the people who needed it most first. With the Spanish flu people ended up being required to wear masks and were starting to rebel against it then too for a while. We just need people to be cautious long enough to save as many lives as possible.

On February 24th Nancy Pelosi was greeting and hugging people in SF's Chinatown and encouraging others to be unafraid and do the same and on the same day 20,000 people packed LA's Staple Center for a memorial for Kobe Bryant, the following day was Fat Tuesday with people packing the streets and bars of New Orleans, on Feb. 29th Dr. Fauci said the risk was low and people should get on with their lives, Mayor DiBlassio was telling people on March 6th to go out and see a movie and on March 13th he was reluctant to close NYC schools because 65% of students rely on the schools for breakfast and lunch and fortunately the President of the teachers' union threatened to sue if the schools remained open! Ever wonder why NYC is and was the epicenter?
