      @@bluehurricane9974 ummm...... The illusion of freedom and actual freedom are two separate things. The US is still a young country relative to others - a big shopping mall with strict rules devoid of culture and real freedom. Sucks to say, but this is the reality. The US has a cast system essentially - the wealthy vs. the less fortunate.
      Not saying the US isn't an incredible country, but it has never been the best country, and you don't know what you don't know.
      Before I went to Mexico, I was also brainwashed by the media, things aren't as bad as you would think. Mexico is closer to Canadian life in a way than to the US that's for sure.

    • @19username

      I never felt in any danger, though I know that Mexico and Central America can be dangerous. The trip was pretty actually quite easy. As long as you stay flexible and have a good attitude, it makes things more enjoyable. We had no need for oil changes, but there are plenty of mechanics available if you don't know how to do it yourself. If you are picky about your parts, I would recommend bringing your own oil filter and oil.

From there, stick to the toll roads the entire way as much as you can. Laredo to Monterrey to San Luis Potosi to Mexico City to Puebla to Villahermosa to Chetumal. What documents do you need to go into each country? Insurance? Passport? Birth certificate? Visas? car title? etc, etc.

      Yeah, I can't figure it out either. The list of what you need is pretty much the same for every border. To get yourself in, you pretty much just need a passport. To get the vehicle in, you'll need originals of registration, driver's license, and title. You'll then need several copies of each document (you'll leave them at each border). You'll have to pay (it varies) to enter and to leave each country. Both for the car and for yourself. You don't need insurance in any of the countries in this video.

    how were the roads.?. will a lowered car make it.?.

    • @19username

      The roads in Mexico were pretty good. A lowered car could probably make it, though you would want to go slower in rough sections. Especially in Guatemala where there are lots of speed bumps.

      There is places right on the border you can exchange to pesos. However, you can go to a bank in Mexico and they can do the exchange or they will let you know the closest place to exchange.

      Almost every where you can change dollars for pesos or most of gas station take dollars

    • @ali1t
      @ali1t 4 роки тому

      You can go to any ATM pretty much or bank and withdraw, the fee per bank varies, but it's typically 34 pesos (santander) to 100 pesos or so with HSBC, but many banks that you can withdraw from and they'll convert automatically. Otherwise bring USD and you can convert with most places, they'll typically give you 18-20 pesos (2019), right now the peso has lost some value so should be 22-24 afaik

      Howdy Joel -
      Thanks for the feedback and this wonderful video - Would you please elaborate a little bit more as far as having to register your vehicle, the fact that you are just driving through Mexico and then Guatemala & Honduras, is there a 300+ deposito depending on how old your vehicle is? or does that only counts if you are staying in any of the three countries you guys drove through? Also, what's the average auto insurance fee from Laredo to the Guatemalan border?
      Again, thank you so very much, great video.

    • @19username
      @19username  7 років тому +3

      Registering your vehicle was just the next step in line at the border. You pay different amounts depending on whether or not you are "in transit" or stopping in Mexico. I don't know all the different prices. From what I recall, the prices were the same for all the vehicles regardless of age (including in Guatemala and Honduras). I do know that you can't import a vehicle into Honduras if it is older than 10 years (meaning you can't get Honduran plates and registration). For our purposes, we didn't have to get any insurance.
