- Crossing the border from Brownsville, TX into Matamoros, Mexico.
Always know your surroundings when heading south to Mexico, especially by car. Try to avoid the 'Wrong place, Wrong time' kind of moment, best is to do a lot of research on the Internet and ALWAYS keep your eyes wide open while south of Rio Grande area.
Some useful links for those pretty unaware of what's going on just south of the US border:

One full hour of driving in Matamoros in this playlist:

For my fellow Canadians, if any crazy ones LOL out there who truly enjoy long road trips, Toronto - Matamoros, shortest route: 3,200 km or 2,000 miles.

For those against AZ Illegal Immigration Law, here is Mexico's Law on Illegal Immigration, Reglamento de la Ley General de Poblacion:
www.washingtontimes.com/news/2...
"Under the Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony, punishable by up to two years in prison. Immigrants who are deported and attempt to re-enter can be imprisoned for 10 years. Visa violators can be sentenced to six-year terms. Mexicans who help illegal immigrants are considered criminals.
The law also says Mexico can deport foreigners who are deemed detrimental to "economic or national interests," violate Mexican law, are not "physically or mentally healthy" or lack the "necessary funds for their sustenance" and for their dependents."
Migrant workers to CDA, when different cultures (in this case traffic signs and rules different than the ones down in Peru) create such great tragedy in ppl's lives:

I stumbled on this video after 4 Americans were kidnapped at this Mexico City. World is getting crazy
this is amazing...in 2 minute u pass from bronswille to one of the most dangerous place in the world...to close
+luca zannoni some part of mexico are dangerous not all
+meschio México City is safe
+luca zannoni san pedro sula honduras is number 1 in the world dangerous
luke mexico's not dangerous
Just don't go to Juarez Valley.
Wow as soon as u cross its like a different world
I'm amazed at how much the Mexican side looks like the US. Big billboards, tall services signs at the interchange, and even the same truss-arm streetlights. Even Canada doesn't look like the US to that degree.
the border crossing into Tijuana Mexico from San Diego doesn't even have to stop at the check point, only coming back which you have to wait about 4 hours in line
@michael112254 Hi Michael,
1) This video is mostly to show ppl in the States, CDA or elsewhere how crossing the border into Mexico looks like, in the playlist I have 60 min (4 videos) of driving in Matamoros, Zero such videos in HD on YT.
2) Always when I chose the soundtrack for a video it must a) meet my own personal taste (in music of course) b) have something in common with whatever is in the video c) put a smile on ppl's faces.
Can you guess the songs I used in the video?
Tengo 20 años sin ir este 2020 por fin iré y me preparo viendo vídeos para no infartarme de emoción al regresar a mexico 🇲🇽
Fuiste siempre (
amazing how things change so much in just a "line cross"
Nice video Matamos was so clean... so much has changed especially since the caravans 😥
I see, Brownsville. I live in Texas as well
you don't even have to stop when going to Tijuana Mexico From San Diego California. But coming back takes about 4 hours
No need for car permit or visa? I have double citizenship. And what rout is best laredo border or matamoros if traveling to san luis potosi
when is a slow time to cross?
You're very welcome, I'm glad you liked the video.
Crossing the MX Border, legally of course, might be fairly easy as you can see it in the video, but the REAL "mission" starts AFTER that, never forget that you're not in a friendly territory especially when you don't speak the local language and they don't speak english, plus they immediately see you as a Gringo in a foreign car, out of the question to drive by night in MX unless... LOL
That was not my first MX visit:

Any way I could get some information on the songs played? I dig these tracks.

Google Miami Vice.
For all person whose like the first song its : Miami vice crockett's theme ben liabrand remix!
How long did it take you to enter mexico
which car you drive???
What street did you take once you crossed over into Mexico?
Like the Vice City music. Driving around Matamoros looks like downtown Vice City, too. BTW, where's the red light district?
eric5906 MIAMI Vice, not Vice City.
Vice City is an interactive video game that used this music.
Brice Kennedy Man have you been hiding under a rock buddy haha?
Brice Kennedy lmaoo wtf
Red light district is gone however you can find women on 11st St. It goes on for blocks. Just ask any cabbie.
In the border area are newer cities, except for some localized in the Tamaulipas border, there is one called "Ciudad Mier" currently listed by the government as "Magic Town". The same city you visited "Matamoros" are the oldest of the border. Another is "Piedras Negras" in the state of Coahuila.
all u did is drive around? nice! i live in Mission, Tx (40 miles west of Brownsville) id like taking a cruise into mx but dunno about reynosa..
Your videos are amazing. Can I ask what car you use for your trips?
Maybe, personally as a Canadian, Scotia Bank Retail Branches caught my eye at first place, didn't go inside BUT the main issue in this area is the language, they do not speak English at all, therefore...
If you are south of the U.S. Border just for the day, ALWAYS return to U.S. before the sunset, for your own SAFETY.
Be safe.
Chris
Is dangerous at night?
@@hugolawyer7733 VERY dangerous!
Do you speak spanish? Have you heard the story of the murder of Mark Kilroy in Matamoros by the satanic narco?
Alberto Constanzo was the leader of the cult

Personally I cannot force anybody to read the (always) fully-detailed video description.
Stay safe.
Chris
Great vid! Our son and his wife live near by in Weslaco, Tx
I've been in Mexico through this video
Feel free to send a VIDEO RESPONSE request and I'll take a look at it, and if the video is ok I'll approve it and you'll see it linked to this very video.
Are you able to read the video description?
Cool video, thanks for posting this.
@401RoadWarrior Hi Chris,
Thank you for your wishes , I appreciate that, I also wish you and your loved ones the best for 2012.
Snow also came very late this year over here, two weeks ago there was zero snow but then a massive load came overnight.Be glad that you don't have snow for a too long time, it only means extra money to pay, and of course the whole traffic goes crazy when there's a heavy snowfall.
Have a great Christmas
Michael
@TheJegozu You're very welcome. And now you see why REAL-TIME driving videos are the best of the best, 1080p HD of course, when anybody can see sights and sounds as they truly exist in real life, while time lapse is very good for computer effects only. With Sony Vegas I can do any type of time lapse but I'll simply spoil the entire recording, my personal opinion and taste.
Stay happy and drive safely.
Chris
PS I used to live in Sun City/Surprise, Bell Blvd off Loop 101, right?
impresionante.. como cambia todo cuando cruzas de EEUU a Mexico.. saludos desde ARG, buen video.
Two different country two different environments wow
You're very welcome.
Stay safe and happy.
Chris
Thank you very much.
And if you're Canadian like myself, Scotia Bank branches in Matamoros as you can see in the video, felt very proud being Canadian so far from home.
TD Bank branches everywhere in the States, unfortunately except HSBC no other foreign banks for retail banking in Canada, stupid IMO, more competition, lower rates for all of us ordinary citizens.
Be safe.
Chris
This looks very peaceful as compared to Juarez Mexico that is very congested!
It makes a difference. It's my country, and I care when people make use of our infrastructure and resources for their own (and their family's own) benefit while giving little or nothing back.
I cross border to give back. I ❤ Mexico!
Awesome videos!!!!!!!!
A miracle to see a car with ANY Canadian Province plates around the US-MX border not to mention getting into MX by your own car with Canadian plates. Same for Canadian Trucks as well. So by driving all the way down to that very remote area of USA, it's a wild adventure by itself, I mean driving all the way down from Canada. As the matter of fact not many Canadian plates south of DC, and to Texas: NONE. That's a pretty long drive therefore not everybody is fit for it.
Be safe out there.
Chris
Let me tell you how is in Canada on the very same issue: lots of C Americans (mostly Nicaragua, Guatemala, poor countries in general), MIGRANT workers, are allowed to LEGALLY work for farmers on a TEMPORARY basis, the farmer must officially request that he needs workers, they MUST apply at the Canadian Embassy in their own country, they get a 1-3 year temporary work visa, it's up to the farmer to renew their temp visa when it expires, but NO permanent residence (path to citizenship) for them.
ha ha. only found because of sound hound. thank god for it lol. brilliant remix. also I see ur canadian. beautiful country. Have family in Scarborough ON and Brampton. was lucky enough to spend summer holidays there.
Can someone let me konw the title & artist of this track ?
Name of songs please bro
I just want to comment that not all border cities of Mexico, are the same as many others have in the country. There are beautiful cities which combines the ancient and modern.
its kind of funny, how defended the US/Mexico
border is, compaired to the Canada/US border
yeah because Canada is not a third world country
+mest5621 Is Mexico richer the Canada?
there Is so much traffic heading to the us
Thanks for downloading this
MX traffic signs, rounded, are like in EU as well. All traffic signs in USA & CDA are square. And due to California strict safety rules, all cars for the US & CDN markets, made in or imported from oversees, are wider with some inches than those for rest of the world, EU or MX included. Even the very small Fiat 500 for US/CDN markets, since Fiat bought Chrysler 2-3 years ago, is a little bit bigger than the same 500 for EU & MX markets.
Stay safe.
Chris
wats the song called from the beggining of the video?
@Westcoast802 Merry Christmas to you Michael, your entire family, all your loved ones, a very Blessed and Happy Holiday Season and a very productive, healthy and safe 2012.
So far zero snow in TO and nothing on the horizon for at least 2 more weeks, still on my summer tires, the real snow ones sitting on the balcony waiting for the very first real announcement of some deep authentic snow, that's over 3 cm of snow on the ground.
Take care and stay safe.
Chris.
A Suomi user who lives in N Ontario and who's video-ing his daily life in Canada, all his videos spoken in Suomi language only, has made a video based on one of my Toronto videos, that was in Oct last year, it took me a while to track it down, 1 day after that I was starting getting unusual amount of dislikes, after a little bit of research it turned out all were from Finland, he eventually took that video down (I saved it on my computer), but his ppl placed ~10K dislikes on my OLD videos.
You're very welcome.
Stay safe.
Chris
Matamoros and Brownsville Texas are cities that are twin cities. In this area we all live in harmony and no one is racist. The South Texas economy depends on Mexico, because people living in northern Mexico cross the border to buy in malls. Matamoros and Brownsville are seen as a single city metropolitan from Google Earth.
WOW why was the line so short to get back into the U.S?! I had to wait 5 hours to get back in when I went to Mexico lol!
Generally that particular cars-only border crossing is not a pretty busy one, very remote location, no major U.S. urban area around, all compared to Tijuana for the San Diego-LA corridor or even Nuevo Laredo for the I-35 to San Antonio, right?
On my channel I have a Dec 2001 Tijuana video, I remember I had to wait HOURS to get back to USA.
Be safe out there.
first tune name ?? anyone ?
You're very welcome, any time.
Chris
YES of course, same with the Rainbow Bridge (the border btwn Niagara Falls, NY and Niagara Falls, Ontario), but obviously you will have to go thru the US Customs when walking into USA, no idea about requirements for walking into Mexico. But again, this video is shot at an official border crossing, no individual of any nationality would ever try driving or walking into USA illegally at ANY official border crossing.
Thank for the video !
Whats the score when Crossing do you just wave a passport ?
123gogoary - England
Catchy song with this video
they drive american cars anyway :)
I never heard of any mexican car. Correct me if I'm wrong LOL
Thank you but ME and/or my car are not the reason for making these videos and then U/L them on YT, in other words this channel does not promote narcissism in any way, feel free to ask ANY questions you wish but only about what you see in the video and NOT what's behind the camera.
My auto advice: a car good on gas, ~33 mpg or 7.5 liters/100 km, no need for Volt-like or Hybrid.
Drive safely and enjoy the summer.
Chris
I think 3 border crossings in that Matamoros area, one it's just (or mostly) for trucks, the other 2, including the one in the video, for cars only. So for the one you see in the video, it's located right downtown Brownsville, the only border crossing in downtown Brownsville, you can't miss it, then the very same road with the border crossing in the video takes you straight into "downtown" Matamoros, but from there is all up to you, all traffic signs in Spanish ONLY.
Always use common sense.
@roofcrash Cred ca stiu la ce pod te referi, pe Google Maps il gasesti imediat:
express bridge, brownsville, texas
E undeva in partea de vest a orasului sau mai degraba in afara orasului, nici nu stiu daca sunt ceva drumuri accesibile cu masina pe acolo.
Sa auzim numai de bine.
Chris
Thanks, Good vid by the way
I've been to Mexico 7 or 8 times and got fairly fluent in Spanish once when spending 7 weeks there. I don't know if they have passenger trains there anymore but when I went I traveled by train and got to know quite a few Mexicans. A guy could travel by train from Laredo to Tapachula for a total of $20. Buses were a bit cheaper but trains were a lot nicer. Also went to Guatemala.
There is ONE passenger train and it does not go very far, and costs a fortune to ride. It's really for site seeing. It runs from Chihuahua to near the Pacific coast in Sonora
very interesting data, the only city I knew was Matamoros border, which were. It was in 2006, usually some cities in northern Mexico is a bit like American cities, as large avenues and streets, shops with signs high and bright. Matamoros is not so bad when compared to Reynosa and Nuevo Laredo with a reputation worse.
excelent video.
Why the dislikes? I thought this was a great video with great atmosphere
Hi Chris,
I wish you and your family a Merry, God blessed Christmas.
Michael
I love the music u used in the video
@redpinkday Yes, this type of long distance driving is not for everybody, regardless your driving experience or what yo do in real life, it's pretty much a combination of physical endurance, driving experience AND a passion for driving, plus a pretty good car, long trip can bring lots of unexpected moments and if you don't know the environment...
But in full honesty, a good road trip cannot compare with any type of fast flight, the best way you can discover a country, ANY country.
Well is it possible to Walk across the border ??
Indeed, English is increasingly widespread. Distances in Mexico are as long as the U.S. or Canada. Driving from TX to Mexico City or other areas of the country are rather long distances. As I mentioned, the beauty of Mexico are in remote areas of the border, in the central, south and west. The border areas are very new cities where more than 120 or 150 years. Unfortunately there are people of USA that seeing these border areas are left with the impression that all of Mexico is well.
what music is this
How different it looks from the US
It looks better and crime free compare to US.
Looks more similar than I thought, I expected more sand and taco stands.
It’s look more different if this guy travel even further in Mexico
Ugly
Whats that song called ?
@TheSnake4149 Don't worry about, be happy, that's all that matters, right?
I use only remixes, club music, it takes a lot to find the right song AND its remix to match the video. My next video, within a week, will have another juicy remix.
Crockett's Theme (Remix) by Jan Hammer (from the NBC mega-hit series Miami Vice)
did you record when you were entering back into usa?
I never record crossing the border into USA, bad experience coming back from Tijuana, MX sometimes in Dec 2001.
Plus lots of private and personal info anytime you're answering U.S. Customs questions (where do you live, what do you do for living, where you going, where you stay, etc., so even if I had decided to let the camera rolling I would have to edit/mute the video before getting it up on YT.
Last example of border crossing right here:
ua-cam.com/video/iHhlYrGhGjk/v-deo.html
Feel free to browse my 2016 All-American road trip playlist (click on my channel and playlists), mostly along Texas-Mexico border, dozens of new videos to come.
Be safe and God Bless.
this is at Laredo?
the name of the music ?
@Westcoast802 My bad, Michael, snow chains (tire chains) are illegal anywhere in Ontario, studded tires are legal only in N Ontario but illegal in S Ontario, don't know the reason for this (at least 30-40 yo) law, in Ontario is not mandatory to use winter tires at all, it's up to you, that's it, but in Quebec a new law (2-3 yo) makes it mandatory (with police fines) to use winter tires btwn mid-Dec to mid-March, anyhow pretty easy AND safe to drive on snowy roads with winter tires.
That i dident know! and you too stay safe!!
Is is still US 25 cents to get back over??
name music?
Actually there are NO Customs officers when you cross into MX unless you have something to declare (no idea what "stuff" you happen to have on you, in your car, that must be declared at the border getting into MX) but coming back to USA I guess English AND Spanish is widely spoken by all (or most of) US Customs officers.
Here you have my border crossing into MX/Tijuana, long time ago:
/watch?v=g_iXP43yi2I
Feel free to ask any (non-personal) Qs you might have, I'm Canadian btw.
Stay safe.
Chris
miami vice remix
Plz can u tell me the song of the music plllllz
Mi comentario anterior fue: "I just want to comment that not all border cities of Mexico, are the same as many others have in the country. There are beautiful cities which combines the ancient and modern".
whats the music
whats the name of the first song amigo?!
@401RoadWarrior We even have to use them: A law says, if there are winter conditions from December 1 to April 15 you HAVE TO use them. Snow chains are not illegal, sometimes you need them, but of course you are not allowed to drive that fast you want with them. You can't "survive" without winter tires where I live.
Michael
Completely agree, what happens in Mexico for many years there was a great nationalist, Mexico's history has always been turbulent, now in the last 15-20 years begin new horizons positive economic, social, and between the education, which now begins to teach English in many schools, and even parents consider it important. The English is essential.
Proud to be half Mexican 🇲🇽
Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico; it's just across the border from Brownsville, Texas.
1) I'm Canadian and did not remain illegally in MX nor in U.S., also no official stats of any kind showing Canadians living illegally in U.S. in any large number or any number to be exact. Since 1986 (Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 aka AMNESTY for 3 million illegal immigrants) 11+ MILLION Mexicans went to U.S. illegally OR legally w/visa but decided to start living illegally in U.S.
2) Everybody was avoiding me when I was trying to speak with locals in gas station or local stores.
I see your point!.
@RTAY58 You're very welcome.
I don't think Mayor Villaraigosa is gone love you anymore LOL
Be safe out there.
Chris
