      No, and never can be in any state. Federally illegal for 100s of reasons. This is a HUGE scam abd rhey are under investigation. Again, no matter what they tell you they can never be legal. Get an H1, it has way more options and is not pieced togeather from scrap. These are decommissioned salvaged rigs and dod has said they are NEVER to see a us street. Many people fall for thus scam.

    I routinely drove my Humvee 60+ MPH in sunny Iraq on supply runs to minimize the issues of IEDs. If you get a military hard-top version with air conditioning you may be disappointed as the A/C is marginal. Generally, the Humvees are very reliable and simple to repair.
    If you get the 5-ton military truck think if it as an oversized Humvee. The simplicity carries over. You can drive with your parking brakes on, and your trailer's parking brakes on and you'll never know it. Lots of low end power!

    I went to the hmmwv assembly plant in Indiana when I was active duty. a trick to FULLY lock the wheels in these things is to gently hold the brake pedal then pushing the gas pedal. The guy who showed us this climbed up a wall till it was completely upright.
    when they started slapping armor on them they beefed up the suspension and put the turbo on them. even with the added weight of the armor, the turbo made these things a whole new animal. the NA ones were dogs-as were the old coupvees (chevy blazers) I loved watching the Marines come blasting off the LCU's ramps into the ocean and the hmmwv would be completely swamped under water, then creep out of the ocean, open the doors and water flows out. hahaha. good stuff gents, keep it up!

    • @slasher7555
      @slasher7555 7 років тому +10

      The Govt liquidator sales actually have a minimum 1st bid of 7500$. if they don't go above 7500 they don't sell. Usually however right off the base from auction they're going for typically 12-18grand. And then take note as well That they are not street legal and can not be registered as is theres paperwork issues you must attend to and switch it's classification over from a military vehicle to a Passenger Vehicle/Truck. which takes quite a while to complete. Then you must fix and go through everything that needs to be done.

Very versatile vehicles and whole lot of fun to take into the mud. Maintenance wasn't too bad either other than a few leaks. Oh and I can personally vouch for the 81 mph top speed. Done it countless times on the A3, A6, A73, A6 Autobahn in Germany Traveling from Vilseck to Bamberg and other areas for training. Much Love for that monster from me. Had work done by these guys, a duramax swap. It took more than 3 trips up there to get these guys to get it right and deliver a complete finished product. Significant issues. Leaking gas tank, rubber fuel lines routed right next to the exhaust system. Loose bolts throughout, brake issues, someone put the wrong brake fluid in the brake system, options installed that i never asked for. These guys worked to fix it all, bit by bit. But it was NOT a turn key experience. Final trip up there to pick it up, I drive it to the hotel I was staying at and it wouldn't start. Apparently, a malfunction with the keyed ignition. They repaired it, brought it back the next day.. I was not constantly on the phone harassing and rushing these guys. They had my truck over 10 months.
    Driving home, the a/c unit bagan spitting out water out of the vents. They had cut the condnsation tube too short, so air from outside was blowing air into the fan motor,
    Upon finally getting it home , it had electrical problems where it died right on i 10 in a construction zone. Also, the shifter assembly wasn't moving well to get it into gear well..
    Emailed and called Dan Mike, and company. They said sure, sorry send us pictures and receipts and we'll send you a check. And more than 6 months later. No response. These guys have ghosted me. Edit: a year after the fact they finally paid for repairs begrudgingly after airing out the issues here on you tube.
    For the amount paid, poor service in the end once I was out of thier town and less than 1500 miles on it. Be ready to go back for multiple do overs

    For 35k+, I think the money can be better invested. One of the most important lessons is to surround yourself with items that can be easily repaired or replenished. You've got a diesel guzzling GM 6.2 with questionable repair time and rare supplies to do so (unless you live near another Humvee). I don't want to get into a whole GM vs. MOPAR bashing session, but I'd much rather own a bullet proof 4.0 Jeep with maybe a straight-six Cummins 6.7 as my preparedness vehicles.

Also, the transfer case... 4 hi, 4 hi lock, 4 low lock. I thought the lock was an electronic torque converter lockup for decelerating down hills... The hummers do not have locking axles.... Am I incorrect?

    Ford SVT Raptor - Ultimate Apocalypse Vehicle (UAV) Actually, isn't the Raptor about as wide as an H1 Hummer?
    I like this though, and I like the fact that an American Company is taking these and building them to what people are obviously buying for a variety of reasons!
    As well, all the questions about fuel economy and availability, in an Apocalypse situation, are you really going to be going out on road trips, or is more about the capability to get around in horrible situations.

    Maybe downhill in a hurricane.
    Oh, the bush bumper upgrade? That's odd. I've never seen or drove a military HUMVEE that didn't have one...
    And it's like driving a tractor. And ragtop HUMVEEs are like driving a tent ON a tractor.
    That slant back HUMVEE does look nice. Maybe offer a turbo on those doggy GM diesels.
    Affordable to the average American? Ha.

    I have a M998 with the 6.2 & a 3spd. If you do 60mph it is so loud inside you need earplugs, it feels like its at its limits. that 3 Spd is shit. I haven't got the cash but it needs a cummins, Allison swap then it is awesome. it gets about 15mpg now, not a fuel guzzler at all. You can always find diesel fuel somewhere.

    • @hummerguy

  • @SheepDog7071

    So let me see if I have this right.... Plan B takes a Humvee from auction for no more then $10,000 or, gets them a whole lot cheaper because they buy them in bulk direct from the base. Then they add paint & seats, refresh fluids and whatever is bad, maybe new top or just clean and that makes them now worth $29,000????? I could see if they rebuilt the engines and trans but don't see where the $20,000 is coming from. But hey, I am sure some will buy them and that is good for business.

    • @bradbrinegar1419
      @bradbrinegar1419 8 років тому

      getting them titled for highway use can get kinda pricey. paint job, new seats, hard doors, id say they probably setting around $18k in one. still a pretty good profit.

  • @headcas620

    Where are you going to get parts when SHTF? Where are you going to get diesel?
    Preppers are stupid. 9 times out of 10 you shouldn't bug out. You should bug in. You can store more supplies in your house/bunker than you could ever carry with you at a moment's notice.

    • @parkerdalo3248
      @parkerdalo3248 8 років тому +1

      Some people have bug out location. So all they might need is one full tank to get to their destination to bug in. Or if your at work and a natural disaster hits while your trying to get home. Or maybe they want to go overlanding/camping and just like the vehicle.

    • @sonictech1000
      @sonictech1000 8 років тому +2

      The nice thing about older diesels is they are pretty flexible about what they will burn. As for bugging in vs out I mostly agree but it depends where you live and the nature of the emergency.

    • @sik59rt
      @sik59rt 8 років тому

      Hunkering down in your place isn't always the best answer, especially if you live in a urban or even a built up suburban area. Bugging out to a pre-determined area is a better answer imo. And you can also run diesels on a variety of fuels besides diesel.

I remember driving those huncks of crappie for hours and for 28k+ I would rather get a more comfortable vehicle.
