  • In this video I install a 2" suspension lift onto LSxHumvee. Once you see how it's done it's really easy. It takes about an hour per corner if everything goes smooth. Comment below and let me know what you think, don't forget to subscribe!
    Lift was purchased from @All_In_Metalworks on Instagram - Mike Ingvardsen and I was wrong in the video it was $320 shipped.
    Shocks were purchased from www.damagecontrolcustoms.com

    Very nice instructional video!
    I've never done a suspension lift on the humvees but I have done a body lift so this video was very informative!
    The body lift is quite an extensive process also. We had to re do the brackets for the fuel tank as after installing the body lift the fuel tank sat too low and we also had to extend the D ring's on the airlift mounts by the hood so they sat right and extended up above the hood properly.
    Thanks for sharing!

    When you don't have the weight available to compress the spring use a chain hoist. You have to get creative to rig it properly, but I just used a 2 ton chain hoist to compress the springs on my HMMWV when the body, drive train, and majority of the chassis was taken apart and it worked beautifully. I went around the bottom of the control arm right at the ball joint with the dead hook, and the body hook went above the shock pivot and to the opposite frame rail. I used a manual chain hoist this time, but the last time I had to do something similar I used an electric 2 ton hoist and it was all to easy. Just be careful not matter what you are doing, stored energy in a spring can mame or kill you. Use a small chain through the frame and a few coils, if something let's go unexpectedly the chain will restrain the spring. Be careful out there.

    I will note: there are 2 types of lift donuts. The one I used is the type with the retaining lip ring on the inside of the donut lift ring. The type used here with the outer lip is far easier to install then the inner lip. The inner lip lift ring keeps popping out during this process.

    • @LSXHumvee
      @LSXHumvee  6 років тому

      Yeah I bet the one with the retaining lip on the inside is tough. The ones Mike with @All_In_Metalworks makes were simple to install. Highly recommend them.

    • @LSXHumvee
      @LSXHumvee  5 років тому +1

      No adjustments for the body lift are needed except cutting the body about 2" (or body lift height) under the steering shaft where it comes through the body so the body can lift without hitting it, unbolt the drivers splash guard where it bolts to the brake reservoir, adjust the gas filler neck as needed (body lifts 2" and so does the gas tank". That's all I can remember doing. It's a really easy swap.

    Love the video but have a couple of questions. When completed did you do an alignment? Also, I've seen a kit that includes what appear to be modified ball joints with hardware. My assumption is that they are needed to prevent rubbing or some other issue, any idea on that or have you had any fitment/clearance/alignment issues? Considering a lift on a civilian version and didn't know if this same set up will work. Thanks!

    I dont understand why you wouldn’t put longer taller springs with longer travel at a 2inch rise. With full suspension rather than putting a 2 inch spacer with limited travel. Same or worse spring bounce. Go pro not a 200 2 inch spacer..... oh well....

    This is unfortunately a terrible idea. You have 9 inches of total travel. 4.5 in each direction. You just killed 2 on droop. Add that those springs are rated for heavy loads. I bet this thing rides like a dump truck. With such a heavy spring you have almost no up travel. Why not just put 12 inch steel spacers in?
