Shocked it was aired. She's clearly sick and needs a ton of help.
How do I doubt that's going to happen all we can do is hopefully that we can keep her comfortable it's called one of those end-of-life diseases
It was aired bec lifetime knew they would have high ratings and profit from it. Plus Wendy already signed a three project deal with Lifetime and this was the third doc with them.
@deed2157 it was aired because it deserved to be shown the same way she showed other people's business in public.
She exposed people , she made millions and now same snakes are doing the same to her. Cycle of food chain in Hollywood .

My friend has advanced FTD. It tends to gradually sneak up on people when they are in their 50s, with personality changes. At that stage, it seems like the person is having mental health problems. They often lose their job and their marriage and friends. They are often irresponsible with money. Then people start to notice poor grammar and reduced vocabulary. They get annoyed with people who speak over their heads. My friend used to avoid people she thought were stupid and made up their own words (but the words were real and common). She would pick arguments with the restaurant staff and neighbors. By the time the diagnosis comes, their life is a mess and most of their people have walked away. If you know someone who is developing strange speech patterns and behaviors, and difficulty understanding language, try to (race) take them to a neurologist.
Very helpful and also thoughtful of you to share.

Early-onset dementia is harsh 😞. Poor woman
Google "Wet Brain "
alcohol induced dementia
Wendy Williams has drug and alcohol induced dementia and also she had an eating disorder since she was a child and was promiscuous with men and had such a big hunger for money that she stressed herself out to become hateful while her husband cheated and had a baby.
FTD destroys the personality, executive functions, ability to cope. The patient may become obsessed with food, alcohol, sex.
I wasn't aware of this condition. It's devastatingly sad.
"The patient may become obsessed with food, alcohol, sex."
Whelp👀😳
Can this be prevented?
I'll end up believing in Karma.
My best childhood friend probably had FTD. She never drank alcohol, or did any drugs. She started declining fairly early, in her 30s. She couldn't work, and her family put her in a facility, where she recently died. It's a horrible condition.
Alcohol isnt the only reason people develop dementia and aphasia. Many dementia patients just end up with it..we are still learning about the disease. Dementia is complicated and you cant even diagnose it fully until after death. @borsalinokizaru9862
So sorry you lost your friend.❤
That was a kind and rational take on Wendy.
💯❤️
I agree.
I agree with you, Dr. Grande. I don't buy for one minute the producers didn't know there was a problem. But I do think it was in the back of their minds that if the situations were reversed, Wendy would have done the exact same thing.
She definitely would have, but that still doesn’t make it okay
Dementia is NOT reversible
Maybe she knows but wants needs the money
My son died 6 years ago from FTD he was 35 yo. There as no treatment and no cure. Please aid the research. I have a picture of my son’s brain , at age 33. Technician said he had not seen anyone that young with so much brain damage. Frontal lobe was completely dark
I'm sorry. I can't imagine losing a child. 💜
I'm so sorry for your loss! May God comfort you!
Did he play football?
I'm sorry for your loss ❤
I'm sorry for your loss. Did he play sports?
I don’t believe for one second that the people in production didn’t know she had a serious illness. That illness would be dementia, not alcoholism
Alcohol induced dementia... wet brain
Alcohol abuse lead to her dementia, dip-sh*t. She also did coke, which contributed to her dementia. Bruce Willis was an alcoholic as well...starting to see the pattern? The cause & effect?
I've dealt with a lot of TV people and they are amongst the lowest of of life you could meet: of course they knew.
@DeeBullock1836 you'd better either get used to letting it slide or estrange yourself because you can't stop dementia symptoms & eventually you "not tolerating" her symptoms will be abusive. Having a go at people with advancing dementia is like kicking a sick dog for being sick.
@@aussiejubes I’m not abusive in any form or fashion, thankfully I was raised better than that by my Dad who was the only one who could keep her on an even keel, then he died…but I will walk away when she starts yelling and hitting me…that I will not tolerate and I do not have to let it go…everyone’s families are different and you definitely don’t know how my life had been……
I saw it. She talked the whole time about desperately wanting to be back on tv and I think she was happy to participate to get public interest in her returning to tv. However, I dont think she understood that she doesnt look or act like herself at this point. Would she be ok with it if she really clearly saw herself? I dont think so. Its reminiscent of Martin Bashir exploiting Diana and Michael Jackson. The producers said if they knew she had dementia they never would have done it. Umm, what exactly did they think was going on?
100% agree
Well, look at the people propping Joe Biden up. It's obvious that he's not all there, but his wife & those around him are happy to exploit him.
Yep, anosognosia is the long name for people with brain damage not having insight into the fact that they're sick. Can happen with bipolar, schizophrenia, dementia or other serious brain diseases. With FTD the person tends to lose all inhibition, becoming more bold & socially inappropriate... at least with the behavioral-variant. I think Wendy has the speech variant but still, you can see how she's changed in terms of saying/doing things that aren't acceptable or that she wouldn't normally do (showing her feet/real hair, cussing people out for no reason, etc). I feel like airing the doc was her family's hail mary attempt to get the public to help them like they did with the #FreeBritney movement. Right now they don't have any access to Wendy & don't even know where she's at! She can call them but they can't call her. It's INSANE.
This. She was obviously losing her mind. I even wondered if it was FTD.
Bashir showed the truth
My son was 33 when he was diagnosed with FTD and the only way we could keep him in adult daycare for dementia and Alzheimer’s was to convince him he was “Working “ there. My son had no, zero, nada, nichts , nein any reason to have contracted FTD. One of the roll of the dice, bad luck.
That’s so terrible, I can’t imagine going through that. 💔

Life is strange sometimes, one day you're on top of your game, the next you're dependant on strangers with round the clock care and not having access to your own money. That's why being humble is important and treating everyone from the bottom to the top with respect when you made it.
You make a valid point that all would be wise to remember.

I agree
She never respected anyone and made it by hurting others. Now it's her turn. Do unto yourself as you do unto others and see how you like it.
From the photos, it appears that her hyperthyroidism had progressed, and that alone could have caused some of her mental health issues, or worsening of her neuropsych signs and symptoms.
I wonder if her Graves was being properly treated, or if she ever was properly treated. Perhaps she stopped treatment on her own, but one would think a conservator would have addressed that issue. Sad case. Good explanation Dr. Grande.
She used to give updates and had seemed to be doing okay. Last year, I saw an article showing her walking around with wrapped, myxedematous lower legs and wondered why it was getting worse, now. What could have happened to her in the year 2021 to wake up her autoimmune system so rabidly? Hmmm.
Excuse me--"autoimmune disease" was what I meant to type. I also have Graves', but it is in remission. I'm careful about what I put into my body because I don't want a third round of Graves'. Anything that challenges the immune system can cause a flare. In my case, having a baby, an MMR vaccine, and an influenza vaccine probably triggered mine. There used to be a compound in some traditional vaccines that would cause autoimmune disorders to flare.
Damn eyes poppin out her skulls
Graves' disease isn't always easily diagnosed in cocaine users, as the cocaine symptoms mask/mimic those of Graves' disease. Of course as it progresses, it becomes more obvious.
Yes . My sister has graves and has the same problem with her eyes along with other health problems
My mother suffers from dementia. Dementia patients think that everything is ok. My mother’s behavior became more unpredictable as her dementia progressed.
The sad thing about WW is that she finds herself alone having lost control of her life and finances to a guardian.
Unfortunately, not all with dementia are unaware.
Her guardian is currently being sued by someone else for possible scamming to put them into a guardianship
I'm sorry for her suffering. No one should profit from such pain.
She suffered from others pain.
Rather her than a good person.
Unfortunately, that’s how Wendy made her living.
Wendy profited from other peoples pain. She is getting her serving.
These comments are so toxic. At the end of the day, she's a human being with people who love her and are losing her.

Graves' disease can cause encephalopathy if antibodies attack tissues in the brain. It was suppose to be about her comeback trying to get a deal for a podcast but changed into her conservatorship dilemma. It's claimed at times she didn't even know what we're these cameramen doing in her home.
I think by that time she wasn't in her right mind to consent with what they were showing in the documentary. Her house in disarray and her looking like a mess at times.
She had a three project deal with Lifetime. This is her third documentary with them.
Her behavior was less than flattering even when she wasn't ill.

This is terribly sad and tragic. She has a son that is in his early 20s. This has to be very hard on him and to see his mother in this condition and her image and this documentary splashed all over for every one to see and mock.
He probably knows to well that if it happened to someone else she'd be mocking them loudly and remorselessly.

Wouldn't he have seen his mother high as a kite? Wouldn't he know that she made her living by being mean and spiteful? We don't all win the mommy lottery. I am glad you are pointing out the exploitative nature of her documentary. I saw the Wendy Williams show in recent years, on UA-cam. It is good to be sensitive to the issues you calmly discuss in the video. I am not sure that all sharing of personal issues is the best choice for all. I hope for Wendy Williams, now that she is moving away from TV hosting, that her family and caregivers will support her and meet her needs respectfully and treat her with dignity. Not everything needs to be shared on TV. Thank you, Dr. Grande.

I agree as well that the documentary was exploitive and hard to watch at times. However I found it interesting that NBC Universal has partial ownership of Lifetime. So it looks like NBC denied the show she wanted but played a part in producing the documentary???
She was the one who wanted the documentary, thinking she could get back on TV, yes she is sick, but I bet she is still doing coke and is an addict. Blaming everyone else sounds so stupid, you can't tell an addict/alcoholic anything.

Excellent, balanced analysis Dr. Grande. When a celebrity's medical issues are publicized such as Michael J. Fox and Bruce Willis, there are mixed reactions from the public. Watching the Wendy's documentary nearly brought me to tears. I would not wish this on my worst enemy. That being said, I also believe that much of this was brought on by Wendy herself. Her almost maniacal lust for fame I found to be very sad. This shows where her heart is and what she has willingly given herself over to. On her show, she was nothing if not mean-spirited and consistently so. I am truly sorry that this has happened to her, but I am a believer that we indeed reap what we've sown. Clearly, that principle does not always present itself as dramatically as it has in her case but when you spend your life being intentionally abrasive it is going to manifest itself in one way or another. “…and demanded to be heard”. Cunning, baffling, and powerful.
Amen.
Sprinkle in a pinch of fish food and maybe she will shut up.
It must be exhausting trying to find and reinstall your own eyeballs.
That's one of the unfortunate results of suffering with Graves disease....the pressure behind the eyes increases and the eyeballs do protrude more pronounced - the acronym for it is TED.
Wendy kept saying she misses her family. She saw her family and it didn't look fulfilling to her. I think she meant she misses her family as in herself, her ex-husband and son
Bingo. When she said that all I thought about was her wearing Kevin's sweater at the beginning. When she got off of work, her family was all she had. She meant it when she said she didn't have friends. She knew she didn't have real friends in her midst.
I feel so bad for her. Hope she finds some peace and help ❤
Your perspective is appreciated.
Exceptionally well covered!
The only Wendy Williams I care about is Wendy O. Williams!!! Hey, maybe you can do a video about her.
She chain sawed a car in half on the joe Franklin show!
Her wearing shaving cream was epic!
@gazepskotps: Yes! My friend had a poster at his work with the shaving cream. I don’t know if Wendy O. Williams was the first to wear black electrical tape, but it served the purpose. “Necessity is the mother of invention.”
@alexjager4517: I saw that on YT!
She was asked on a talk show about carrying her guitarist about stage on her shoulders, and asked about her favorite exercise; to which she replied,(paraphrasing),“Squats. I do a lot of squats!”
I think about that answer sometimes when I need motivation to squat!!
A bright star, that one; burnt out, not faded away . . .
