I hope you are having a good day so far, today I wanted to talk about Donald Gaskins aka, Peewee! He was an awful person who got wayyyyyy too many chances. I mean it was quite ridiculous how many chances this guy got. The justice system should be held accountable as well if you ask me, but what the heck to I know. I don't think people consider this kind of thought enough. It is very sad that a person born the same as any of us had the type of life that led him to become such an awful man. Doesn't mean that you condone or excuse what he did, but you wished things could have turned out differently/better

I've studied childhood development and the way they are treated as a child has a BIG impact on their development. It really messes with brain growth and the ability to build morality.

@@bestpoubelle5332 I can confirm this, when my parents divorced my mum was able to abuse us kids more and more, neglect, all kinds of abuse, but this started when I was 8 so me and my older siblings grew up physically fine but my younger brother who was born just after never grew like at all I often forgot how old he was, 10 or 11 and he looked like he was still 5 or 6, to this day he is still the smallest of us, don't worry they all live with our dad now my mum eventually was found out after I moved out and I'm now 19 so they are all out of danger but obviously will all carry the scars from what happened to us especially Benny boy

The look on her face if I can't hug her/hold her right away(like I'm washing my hands) it kills me, I literally just have to drop what I'm doing bcuz I can't see that look on her face. I cannot imagine a parent who does nothing but hurt their child, how, just how can they see their little faces crumble and just keep going?
Fully agree. We make most of our monsters. I'm getting ready to start teaching an undergrad psych class (haven't started yet, so don't come for me 😆), and this is what I plan to stress as much as possible: We have to stop making monsters.
Can we take a moment to applaud his 17/18 year old wife for turning him in? This teenage girl deadass said "not on my watch" and turned in her husband for being a POS. Even though they were legally married in like the 50s so she was basically property and she knew he was dangerous and he was way older than her and she was just a teenager. Girl has some guts and an incredible moral compass.

I feel the same. Doesn’t excuse the horrible crimes/etc. But, when you don’t experience love or safety or stability at a young age and DO experience abuse/abandonment/etc…. You’re really given a horrible foundation to start your life on…. There’s always hope- BUT, I can only imagine how hard it is to find it when pain is ALL you know.

Genuinely heartbreaking to me how terrible his childhood was.....I mean how could anyone really turn out okay after everything that happened to him? Doesn't excuse what he did, but no one deserves to be treated that way as a child.
I was thinking the same thing. Like, how could he turn out normal with all the abuse and neglect he endured. I'm sorry but in my opinion, the mother is partly to blame. If she defended her son and protected him he MAY not of turned out this way. So sad
That’s why we should focus on rehabilitation and not locking them up if you see he actually got out and nothing was changed. Also investing in Children is crucial free education can be a way out for many of these children but we want to focus on giving the military money we don’t have instead of people that will inevitably be 100% of our futures. Jail is not effective for everyone in society w issues. It makes no sense most sentences end eventually and these people will just be worse given the conditions and isolation. Makes zero sense
Every single time we hear these stories, 90% of them are a result of a child being severely abused and neglected by their family. Every time this happens people ask “how could this have been prevented?” Instead of acknowledging that some people just don’t need children and shouldn’t be forced to have them.

i once saw an episode of Black Mirror (Episode "White Bear") where the convicted was sentenced to a place where her memory was wiped every morning and she would spend the day reliving a horrible day being shamed, ridiculed, assaulted and hunted. I think this would be a suitable way to sentence murderers and rapists.

From the story told, it sounded like he killed and hurt women/girls way more than anything so I would say he has a resentment towards his mother and blames her for everything wrong in his life and thats why he killed women/girls the way he did.
I reckon it’s also because he was so small. Girls were probably easier for him to overpower

PeeWee worked with my great grandfather back in the day. He had a hearse that he drove as an everyday car. People would pick on him saying “what are you doing, driving around dead bodies?” He would always respond with yes and they would laugh it off. It wasn’t until years later when he was convicted and the truth came out did they realize he wasn’t kidding. At the time many people didn’t believe he was capable of such heinous crimes.

So sorry to hear about your cousin. My dad ran a bar in myrtle beach that peewee would often frequent. He would buy the bar a round while he was there and then disappear for a few weeks/months. Then he'd show back up and buy the bar a round and so on and so forth. My dad used to tell me stories about him all the time. Crazy stuff.
I’m from Florence, SC & it’s been told to me since I was a child by mom and grandparents that it took them 3 times to shock him in the chair becuase he wouldn’t die and he kept laughing 😳😳 just mind blowing and evil 🤯
