@@jay Do you think that is also related to creating expectations for your audience? Like there's expectations of delivery time, but then there is also expectations of high quality content. I'm curious if its more psychological than algorithmic haha
I'm not sure if it fits, metaphysically, but I think you just described that invisible elephant in many content creators rooms! As you showed in the beginning "they" almost brainwash us newbies with these expectations. So thank you for putting it in context 🙏
💯This is so true. I actually found it easier to produce more content early on and now I have scaled down to produce higher quality content as there is more to do behind the scenes once you learn more about the platforms etc. I have also noticed that the production quality is not nearly as important as the content quality. Focus on the content and don't worry about the high level production as much - other than audio, no one will tolerate bad audio. Great video!
Absolutely spot on with this video, Jay! I've felt this before as a solo-creator, in fact, many times over the years. What you said about slowing down, being more deliberate, and finding the schedule that's right for you is the only way to make this work without a team behind ya!
Such great reminders! Quality content, meeting expectations but also enjoying the process can be fundamental for long-term success. I remember the shift I felt when I moved from 'this has to be up to X standard' to 'how can I make it more enjoyable for ME, while still delivering value for my listeners?
Super refreshing perspective, Jay. My team is working through this issue right now - how to show up consistently online through our socials, blog posts, & we're thinking of starting a YT channel. This definitely makes consistency feel more attainable & helps to put the important things into perspective. Thanks again for the helpful content!
I was on the verge of giving up because I just didn't know what I had to do, to make good videos. Everybody was giving vague tips about nothing and that didn't help at all. This really motivated me to keep trying. I took notes the whole video and I can't wait to put the knowledge to use! Thank you! Your mention of different types of search intent - informational and transactional - provides a solid foundation for understanding user behavior and how keywords relate to their intent.
You tell me exactly what i NEED to hear. I love this channel. I almost didnt put out any videos, i just did my first one and its doing amazingly well. 8000 views in a day. Now.... CONSISTENCY
This is so helpful Jay! I randomly came across your channel when searching “how to grow my UA-cam following” . So happy I found your channel! I’m aspiring to be a successful UA-camr and totally expect the trial and errors that come along the journey. Your channel is the first I’ve watched where the advice is not only valuable, but also genuine! Can’t wait to tune in to your podcast!
The mindset re-framing with the consistency BASED on a schedule a creator decides, for themselves is a fantastic shift for me. Thank you for sharing this. This video passes the regret test for me! ;)
Here from your Twitter post! Great video Jay! Provides a lot of helpful and valuable clarity to the “all you need to do is be consistent” mantra. Subbed!
Yesterday I posted my very first video on UA-cam and video is right exactly I needed to watch at the beginning of the journey. I feel relieved and inspired to create and reach more!!! 🙏 thank you!
Hey Jay have really appreciated finding your content recently...in currently building a new brand (it's the 3rd channel I've had on UA-cam) and your wisdom and your great guests have helped me tweak a few things. One of those is to not stress a 10 day gap in posting, if the video is going to be way better after 10 days than 8 because the post-production and work will add value to your viewer's experience 🎉cheers
What a great video again Jay Clouse, I enjoy and appreciate your content a lot! I realized I set up unrealistic scheduling for my videos as well and I am just at the beginning of my channel, being able to put more time into videos with a different schedule will help tremendously, work already takes up a lot of time of my day :)
Great stuff, brother. So much of this journey is finding what your consistent is. This year, I’m shifting to podcasting 6 months/year. Main reason: want to have wide open summers to hang with our little one.
I always watch the channels of people who subscribe and comment. Sometimes this is a burden because some treat it like instagram- every meal they eat gets posted. Every cup of coffee. 😮
I started two youtube channels with a friend, and it was exhausting trying to put out content daily. Especially, when YT can easily sensor anything they don't like. Mean while, porn and divice channels grow perpetually.
Consistency is actually about giving people the same package every time. It's the format. McDonalds is consistent You know exactly what you are getting every time MrBeast is consistent You know exactly what you are getting every time Inconsistency is not knowing what you are getting video Not about schedule Following the same recipe for every video is consistency
Im a real estate agent, turned into a content creator, been building a website and low-code SaaS platform all by myself. Started trying to do video consistently then realized how my videos don’t do great, are boring and gotta learn how to be a thumbnail and title creator, all while none of this has landed me a real estate lead 🫠 gotta keep going though.
Some of my favourite creators are extremely successful and they post so randomly. But the content they post is top-quality every single time.
Yeah, I think this is getting more and more popular

So glad it resonated!
Great video, I was so caught up with trying to upload everyday that I didn't even realize my content was turning into dookie. Thanks
Always a great reminder! So important to be realistic about what you CAN actually do vs. setting unrealistic expectations.
Love this. THANK YOU❤️
You are so welcome!

Great point! High quality ≠ production quality necessarily.
This is probably one of the best advice videos on youtube
High praise! Thank you, Jonne!
I really needed this, thank you for the mindset reframe Jay!
Glad you enjoyed it, Helen!

Enjoy the process! Take care our your health, your family and your friends. Enjoy is the key ✌️
"Enjoy" IS key!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Weekly sometimes is tiresome. I think I'm going to bump to bi-weekly and better quality.
Thanks Andrew! In a noisy, competitive world, quality stands out.
oh goodness, i needed this today!! thank you for the amazing and very informative vid!!
So glad it helps!
Thank you for these tips!

You just cracked open my skull and gave my soul a back rub. I'm sure you know this, but you're tapping into the ethos here man.

Love this. This video came at the right time
Amazing!
Hi! Found your email list (then a few articles... then your YT channel) through Ed. Loved this video! Please keep doing them.
You tell me exactly what i NEED to hear. I love this channel. I almost didnt put out any videos, i just did my first one and its doing amazingly well. 8000 views in a day. Now.... CONSISTENCY
I'm struggling knowing that high quality content is really not rewarded as much as quantity anymore.

Needed to hear this on this April Monday! Thanks so much for giving this a different perspective grounded in some grace and rational implementation!

Great Video, I needed to hear this....
Glad it was helpful!
The video I didn't know I needed. Just starting a new channel, but feeling completely blocked because of expectations. Thank you
Great video; well said. Like your presentation style, too.👍

Love this video, very informative. @Jay, what do you think are the causes of inconsistency?
What camera and mic do you use for your talking head videos ?
Sony Alpha 7C and Rode NTG5
Yes! "Consistent" does NOT mean "frequent."
Consistency is actually about giving people the same package every time.
It's the format.
McDonalds is consistent
You know exactly what you are getting every time
MrBeast is consistent
You know exactly what you are getting every time
Inconsistency
is not knowing what you are getting video
Not about schedule
Following the same recipe for every video is consistency
I have consistently bad videos which scare off subscribers. .....and I have fun.
tHanks for the video.
had to be said.....
🤷♂️
thanks.
So it seems people are conflating consistency with volume.
Yep. Happens a lot.
IOW: Higher frequency is not greater consistency.
I just do the bare minimum until Im able to do more.
My favorite youtube creator of ALL TIME is melody sheep . And that dude hardly ever posts and has over a million subs
gotta learn editing
My Channel flopped :(
Change the title to "the lie about consistensy"
