Well I know u all think its a piece of crap, but I fill it up like ur supposed to before I go to sleep, and NOW, I sleep so good. With the chill well, my room is like 72 ,and without it is 78. Yes, I do keep it on my nightstand, it's worth it to me!! ALSO, I got mine off an add from Facebook. It Only Cost 49$ for 2 of them. Free shipping on 1 of them. I gave the other 1 to my son for his room . His room is smaller than mine and he loves his too, he says he also sleeps better! So honestly, I love this thing cause wethr I'm going to bed, reading or watching TV, it cools me down so I'm very Comfortable!!

Thanks, great review. Since this thing is a "Swamp Cooler" and not an Air Conditioner (A/C) I don't understand why they have not been hit with a false advertising charge. I remember a window mounted swamp cooler in my childhood that worked well for the living room, but then the usual humidity in the area is low and swamp coolers will work better in low humidity.

I have a product the Blaux classic desktop AC - looks identical to this one, I got three for $100. The only difference is mine doesn't take ice cubes, you take a thick sponge, soak it with cold water, inserted into the unit along with the special ice tray. It really only works if you have it right next to your face while you're sleeping. I use it, but there's so much faults advertising. It's ridiculous! Thanks for doing this test.

@@Jeffreviews4u which defeats the purpose for which they are advertised. Cool a 95° room in only minutes without a controlled air environment. It's a no go for me. I will stick to my AC (for now).

What's really good about these USB swamp coolers, is that they can run off of a portable cell phone charging battery. I used to do that at where I worker because my work station was away from any outlets. On medium to low, it would last almost five hours. So, just buy a nice sized portable battery for charging us devices and you can have you space cooler anywhere
Also you have to once in awhile check behind where the filter sits in because that can actually fill up with water and spill over. The way they designed it though is you turn off the mist when that happens, when the water gets high enough and what will happen is, much like with the first Arctic air that used to paper filter that Drew the water up into it, you can just run the fan on this one with that filter soaked, and it will put out cool air as water drains out of the filter container

They sell these at Big Lots for 28.95$. I was thinking of getting one to set on my night stand for when I sleep. I already have central AC in my home. But wanted to set it at 78 and turn this on hoping to get back down to 73. Not going to waste 30$ on something that is going to make my room damp. I keep computer stuff in here. Last thing I want is one of these running in my PC room.

  • @khagen50

Dude. You just got ripped off $100. It’s just a $6 cheap plastic box with a small fan blowing humid air. Maybe drops the room temperature by a couple degrees but in reality the room is going to feel more hot and stuffy with all the humidity it’s creating. Thanks for posting that as I was seriously considering buying one.

  • @mom24monsters

I was looking at these and thinking about buying them for the upstairs bedrooms and the playroom, but I don't think I'm going to. Big swamp coolers do a decent job, but we've had enough portable swamp coolers to know they don't really work, and if you live where it's humid, they don't work at all. We've lived where it's humid and where it's dry, and we've experienced swamp coolers in both places, and this is just a waste of money. I'm really glad I saw this review! I think you've saved a lot of people a lot of time, frustration, and definitely money. Thanks for your honest and really in-depth review! 3:20

Thank you for the honest review. Well done!
I live in my RV in the High Desert. Who would have thought that living in a metal box in the desert would be a bad idea? ;)
With 100+ degree F average temperatures outside, the ac in my rig struggles to keep the living space comfortable and often fails to reduce the inside temps. under 90 F (outside 110).
I wonder about the quality of the product. Is it going to last more than one season? If it falls off the counter will it survive?
After watching your review, I don't think those questions matter as the unit doesn't look like it is anywhere near what it is advertised as.
You expect some exaggeration, but they claim up to 12 hours use on a charge whereas you experienced maybe 3 on the lowest setting. If they can't be honest enough to at least be close to reality in their advertising, I'd rather not do business with them.
You have saved me much time and stress. Thanks again, Jeff.

I can't say if the device works or not because I never got mine. I ordered online from the official site and received an email two days later saying that it had been shipped. My credit card was charged of course. The tracking showed that the label had been created but UPS had not yet received the package. After 16 days and two phone calls to customer service, I asked for a refund and am still waiting. The customer service rep told me that some shipments via UPS do get 'hung up' and cannot be found. Then why don't they change their shipper? I also found their online site horrible to use. It kept hanging up and would not move forward until I had clicked on additional items which I did not want. I like to check the total before I finally place my order, but the order went through first with no way to cancel when I found that I had ordered additional items that I did not want. Another minus is that the cooling cartidges have to be replaced every 1 -3 months, and they cost almost as much as the unit with its 50% off. Bottom line - the web site needs redesigning. The customer service reps are pleasant, but we should not have to keep calling them. They need to use another shipper.

@@art47430 I didn’t expect an air conditioner regardless of what they said. No coolant. But for me, in 110 degree heat right now, that 60-70 degree breeze it imparts is freaking heaven when my ac is set to 87. And my ac is set to 87 to avoid $200-$400 power bills every month. At 87, my bill is about $150. So for me, and what I need it to do, it works. It cuts between $50-$250 a month and that is worth the $50 I spent.

Yes, for sure. It is a glorified Styrofoam cooler with the exact same so called advanced technology (!!) at 9 times that price. Smells like a scam to me. If I have to place ice and cold water in front of a fan that this one does, I can do the same by placing a small portable fan behind a tray of ice and get about the same effect without spending a hundred bucks.

I purchased a much larger item similar to this. Its a floor unit that holds near 3 gallons of water. Now i will say for those smaller units like the one in this review. They are all mostly just junk. The only way these smaller units are of any use at all are situational. Ideally if you have it parked on top of you. The other major factor in how well these kind of items like the one in this review work are based on current humidty levels where you are using the device. If you live somewhere that has high humidity. None of these devices are going to work as they claim what so ever. Now back to the floor unit i mentioned... The bigger floor type units do work. The one i bought was around $200. Seeing i live in California humidity is almost always below 40%. Making the unit do very well. I also bought a dehumidifier to run that actually feeds even drier air to the unit. Thus boosting its efficiancy. But again as i mentioned... Humidity is the deciding factor. If you live somewhere thats prone to high humidity avoid any kind of product like this as you are just waisting your $$$

Hey Jeff. Your review was spot on!! I ordered the product but it is not worth the money. At least they offer a 60-day money-back return but also said that if I kept the product, they would give it to me at half the price. Unfortunately, I will be sending it back. I wish I had researched reviews before purchasing, but it's all good.

I considered buying the Arctic Air for years, and more recently the Chill Well (after seeing their ad). Thanks for saving me money with your review. Based on your review I see the machines are based on a method people used to cool their homes prior to AC, which my grandfather told me about. He recounted that there used to be ice houses, which he described as barns that stored large blocks of ice cut from lakes and ponds, with straw packed between the blocks, and also straw between the blocks and the walls of the barn. The straw acted as insulation and prevented the blocks from sticking to each other. During the summer months you would go to the ice house (or buy ice from an ice house), chop up the ice and direct a fan to blow air across the ice into the room. As I recall it described, the ice was put in a container that the fans air could pass through, something like a small slotted laundry basket, with a pan underneath to catch the water from the melting ice. My grandfather said this effectively cooled small rooms. The Arctic Air and Chill Well have more bells and whistles, but it appears they do not have sufficient volume or area of ice water in front of the fan to actually cool.

    • @blueoverlord7276
      @blueoverlord7276 Рік тому +2

i actually did that and used a fan to blow ice through a mesh container with a cooler beneath the ice to catch the water and it is very effective.

You think 100 bucks is expensive. In UK similar Junk is being sold at nearly £180, nearer to 3 times what you guys pay for "Junk"! That makes us Brits far more gullible than you guys lol!
I open my door at night while watching TV allowing cooler air into my home during really hot days. Also by darkening a room during the day will help reduce heat inside. Then use an ordinary fan to keep you cool.
I'm in UK but have lived in many REALLY HOT countries and the current heat-wave was uh like everyday temperatures to me. I hardly need to cool down. Just drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids to keep hydrated.
At night if you're suffering, try wetting a Tea Towel and laying it on your Torso with a fan on. Don't knock-It until you try it as it works!
