Had no idea what it was so went looking into it. Hot damn, you could honestly build a template for Star Wars fans to fill in as to why they get so angry. "THIS DIRECTOR IS A (Insert marginalised community) WHO WANTS TO (Insert the mildest progressive idea you can think) AND DESTROY STAR WARS!

It really puts our problems into perspective, doesn't it? These guys have run out of legitimate complaints (probably years ago by now) and have to steal very real world issues to keep the Star Wars hate train going.

@@datamale don't worry it's not your fault UA-cam has always been biased toward alt-right shit. that's why it has taken off so much despite being so anti-intellectual and anti-fact
Great video dude. Clearly you've shown that she's not saying it about Star Wars at all, but as a fun aside for the fans getting annoyed out there: This was the literal impetus behind the creation of 'Alien' and it's one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time. This is a direct quote from the screenwriter Dan O'Bannon: "One thing that people are all disturbed about is sex... I said 'That's how I'm going to attack the audience; I'm going to attack them sexually. And I'm not going to go after the women in the audience, I'm going to attack the men. I am going to put in every image I can think of to make the men in the audience cross their legs. Homosexual oral r**e, birth. The thing lays its eggs down your throat, the whole number.'" Now that screenwriter is a man, but my point is simply the thing they're afraid of (the thing this poor woman never even implied) already happened nearly half a century ago and we laud it as a classic. If a male OR female director wants to make a film that makes men feel uncomfortable.. that would hypothetically be okay. American Horror Story is 90% designed to make women feel uncomfortable and its creator is male. It would seem this rage just suits their agenda.
Amazingly put, and a great example too! What really struck me was that guy, Lou Holly, telling Disney to: "Let me enjoy my space fighting laser sword movies without any agenda". Like... My dude... way to completely infantilize Star Wars while attempting to defend it. Nobody misses the POINT of Star Wars quite like Star Wars fans, I swear.

it's crazy to see those youtubers forming such a large and "nuanced" take on a like 5 second clip taken out of context. they had so much to say about it yet there was barely anything in the clip to address on its own. it's 5 seconds of an entire panel, that's an insane thing to form an entire argument or even video on.

But unironically. Men should feel uncomfortable. That's the role of art to have people question their beliefs, atleast good art. Same goes for women. And everyone else. Had I not been made uncomfortable by my teacher I would never have grown. Just because we're adults doesn't mean we should expect the world to be moulded around our beliefs, contrary to what we are told by these 'conservative influencers'
This wasn't news to begin with - the movie's gonna suck no matter who directs it or how. Disney won't have the balls to do something new with it (like they did with Andor, for example) and the whole Jedi vs. Sith schtick went stale during the prequels already. They're just gonna build an even bigger, bigger Death Star and a Jedi Mary Sue with somehow even less training will stop them. Calling it now.

That’s it. I did like those episodes, by the way, but doesn’t it seem unnecessarily risky? If nearly all of her career is feminist documentaries, is it such a jump in logic to expect a feminist Star Wars Episode X from this team? Remember, if you watch the full interview, she says she made these documentaries because she enjoys making men uncomfortable. Saying Jon Stewart was the exception is not the same as saying she specifically means she likes making the men of her home country uncomfortable. I do recommend that everyone presuming t o judge any party involved to watch the full original interview. I think you’ll find that this content creator is as disingenuous as any of those he criticizes. They are all, everyone, spinning the story their way.
When the interview is about her work as a filmmaker exposing the harm that men in her country do, why is it so unreasonable to assume that's who she's referring to in the interview ABOUT those films? If she had said "all men" your point might stand, but she just said "men" in general, because they're the people who's attitudes she's trying to change with her films.
Star wars isnt about feminism period never was so someone comes in ruins a grat work of art and expects fans to not be pissed how would ppl feel if someone painted a bakini over the monalisa or a prised art pice in the act of feminism they would be put in jail
I agree that the Star Wars fandom can be toxic and will just repeat what other reviewers say. But don’t forget that there are anti-men sentiments in the new Star Wars content.
