  • It's weight reduction time! This vid I install the new CVI Lightweight Rear Bumper Support for the Dodge Challenger and get the exact weights to compare between the stock support and the CVI support. CVI makes both front and rear lightweight supports that allow you to keep any stock accessories normally mounted on the stock supports.

This series of videos couldn’t have come at a better time! I’ve got the AAD bumpers to install before the racing season starts.
Thank you for the helpful videos!

Your search for ounces and lbs. is awesome. Any plans to swap out body panels and/or glass?

Only panels would be ones that are easily swappable, like doors and trunk lid, but those cost money. I have no intention of ever cutting up any part of the body otherwise. As for glass, I have looked at the Optic Armor front and rear windshields, but I would only do that if I needed a windshield replacement. That was one reason I fixed the rock chip myself, I figured if I messed it up and caused the windshield to crack it would just be an excuse to get the Optic Armor. Basically, I want to continue keeping everything where I can easily go back to stock anytime.

Very cool! And, the impact bar quality from SLX has been questionable. I had to flip mine upside down to make it fit for the front

Yeah, unfortunately I've heard numerous stories about some minor modification being needed to get those to fit.

Awesome, love your videos as I tend to focus on weight reduction as well especially since there is very limited aftermarket support for my car. Keep us the good work. Do you have a goal for weight reduction or just go with the flow?

My original goal was just to break a 10 second 1/4 mile while keeping the entire powertrain stock. Now that I've already accomplished that I don't really have any type of goal, so I guess I am just going with the flow now. Just kind of seeing how far I can go with it I guess.

After watching all these videos, i wonder if its even possible to do an 11.7 in a fully loaded 1320.

If we’re talking every option available, including sunroof and 100% stock on the stock 20” wheels and Nexen tires, then it would definitely be tough, but I think still possible. It would for sure take a low elevation track with great weather though. When I first ran an 11.7, it was on the stock 20s with Nexens and just the seats pulled out leaving me roughly 40 pounds heavier than a true single seater, and the DA was around +1200. Take that DA down below zero and it would easily run 11.5, maybe even 11.4 which I’ve seen done. Now add 300 pounds back in for all the options and we’re in the high 11.7s. I don’t know the exact weight of a fully optioned version but I’d guess it would be around 4300.
I know at MoParty in the 1320 shootout the guys running at full weight on stock 20s are usually around 12.1-12.2 in DA that’s close to 2000, and I’m pretty sure a couple of them are fully optioned out except for maybe a sunroof. Whereas I’m running 11.4s. So put those cars in conditions like when I ran my 10.9s and there’s your 11.7s
