  • I rode some massive jump lines at the whistler bike park. A-line, Fade to Black, and Dirt Merchant pro line!

Any jumping technique advice? I've been riding about the same time as you and I'm nowhere near this good. My problem is getting bucked sometimes. Too much weight at the back? My rebound isnt too fast. Cheers!

i’m probably not the person to ask about jumping but i might be able to give you a few pointers. probably the best advice i’ve ever heard is to think of the lip of a jump as a trampoline. so as you’re going up the jump push into the entire length of the lip as if you were jumping on a trampoline. Practice and repetition are huge too, i’ve probably rode aline close to 50 times so i just feel comfortable on the jumps because of how many times i’ve ridden them. last but not least, don’t be afraid to turn down your rebound a few clicks, especially in bike parks and riding big jumps, i tend to put my rebound pretty slow.

The best thing you can do is learn without suspension first. Ride your local dirt jumps with steeper lips to learn how to pull back. If you don’t have a dirt jumper, your mtb will work but focus on pulling back or bunny hopping off the lip. Most issues with getting bucked is from not riding the entire lip by fully committing and pulling back off the lip. This requires letting your back tire be the last thing the leave the lip, while you are actively pulling back.
When you squash jumps by pushing through, you compress your rear shock while actively pushing your front end down to squash the jump, the rebound then kicks your back end up when the front end is already headed downward, sending you into a nose dive. Messing with your suspension can help but it’s technique and form that will get you there. Plus the skill set of pulling back will let you go higher and not further and if a trail is running fast you just pull back more.

hey man if your chain keeps falling off it's either worn out or the limit screw isn't properly set

honestly think it was just bad luck. this was the first ride with a new derailleur and i had the limit screws set right (as far as they go while still letting me shift properly.) it didn’t happen again for the rest of the day so it was probably just some bad luck.
