Long-tailed Weasel - New Species at BWHQ

- We have seen minks on a few different occasions. This one looks different, smaller, thinner tail that appears to have a black tip. That would make it a first time visit for a Long Tailed Weasel on the BWHQ cam.

I'm a mustelid enthusiast. That's definitely a long-tailed weasel, Neogale frenata. Very cool!
Thank you for your comment - we have had a couple of other "enthusiasts" verify the identity. Definitely "very cool" to see for the first time.
You never know what will show up on the cameras! Very cool!

So far the consensus is that it's a Long-tailed Weasel - first time we saw one here. It was very cool to see a new species at the BWHQ cam.
Very long and very fast!😊
Thanks for watching and commenting - We are still trying to determine if it is a Long-tailed Weasel. That would be a new species for us to add to our 14 verified species - ua-cam.com/video/RA_5z2xowPs/v-deo.html&feature=shares
Somebody's escaped ferret!! JK

While I know you are "just kidding," I had a couple of people comment that it was a Ferret. The consensus has been that it is a Long-tailed Weasel. Ferrets are smaller...

@@WRCatBWHQ I agree. I had 2 ferrets, and this critter is definitely NOT a ferret. Love your videos!
@@kmterpin Thank you. I really enjoy making them. Hope to be making many more in the future. I have been in a "lull" do to some health issues that are hopefully resolved now...
@@WRCatBWHQ Your videos stopped appearing in my timeline months ago, so now I have to search for you. They are fantastic. I do hope you feel better soon, my friend. Once again, thanks for feeding & setting up a camera to observe this wonderful nighttime wild life!
@@kmterpin Again - thanks for the kind words. I am just one of the moderators of the BWHQ cams. Scott Keller is the one responsible for the cams. I have met him a couple of times since I only live about 7 miles from him. He is a great guy who is living his dream.
