After becoming addicted to the Bird Watching Headquarters site in Akron, OH, I started chatting with the friendly and fun people at the site. I watched as the site expanded and grew to include bird and animal cams from across the world. One thing led to another and I became a moderator at the site.
I started making video clips of the various cams because there was always something interesting going on and many people were missing some of the activity. My WR C UA-cam Channel is a way to share those many videos (over 700) as a kind of archive of the activity.
I will continue to add clips of fun and interesting events at the many cams. I have categorized them into playlists to make it easier to find your favorite bird, animal or event.

Swainson's Thrush - New Species - Oct. 1, 2024
First time seeing this bird. Swainson's Thrushes migrate from the far north to the tropics for winter. Very lucky to see this one while it took a break from migrating - lol. Very short clip - it didn't stay very long.

Brave Goldfinch Hangs On During Refill at BWHQ
They are pretty well behave for wild animals. The skunk is the most badass.
Thanks for watching and commenting - The critters seem to get along better after breeding season (in the spring). This was recorded toward the end of August. Skunks always seem to have an attitude - lol
Atleast the skunk dodged it
Smart duck that hides under the feeder
Thanks for watching and commenting - I think "lucky duck" is a better observation - lol
That is the most fattest possum I have ever seen
Thanks for watching and commenting - We only saw the opossum a few times. It was definitely morbidly obese.
Did the skunk spray?
Thanks for watching and commenting - Skunks rarely spray around a food source. Scott, the site owner has said it's unusual to smell skunk around the feeder area.
every confrontation i've seen between a skunk and opposum is the skunk getting territorial and defensive and the possum going "fuck off, i do not care, lemme eat"
At least the little tourist posed for the camera before flying away! 😊
Yep - just long enough to get an ID
Very nice little bird. Stayed long enough to say hello and get its picture snapped for the scrap book 🪶
Thanks for watching and commenting - Very true - stayed just long enough for us to get a good view and ID it.
Awww wee beauty😍
Thanks for watching and commenting - We're always excited to see a new species at the feeders - even if its visit has to be slowed down to 25% speed to get a good look at it - lol

What a brave Opossum
This is an awesome video! We don’t have possums where I live, but we do get raccoons, striped skunks, and foxes that come around at night. I try to stay up to watch them, but it gets exhausting since they don’t always come at the same time. How do you manage to record them without them noticing? That sounds like a way better approach than staying up all night like I usually do! If I could record mine, I could enjoy watching them in the morning with a cup of coffee. Do you have the equipment you use listed somewhere? I checked the description but didn’t see it. Thanks so much for sharing this video, and any information you have would be really appreciated. Blessings from Ontario, Canada!
You're welcome - and thanks for watching and commenting. Scott, the site owner, has had two cams set up in his backyard since the fall of 2018. He also sponsors cams from around the world that can be found at this link - www.youtube.com/@BirdWatchingHQ/streams The cams use IR light at night so the critters are unaware they are being recorded. As a moderator, I have been able to record almost 800 videos of the activity at the cams. They can be found on my UA-cam channel and are categorized in many playlists grouping the videos by the birds and critters involved. Link to my channel - @WRCatBWHQ Scott has tons of background information (including the cams used) at this link - birdwatchinghq.com/bwhq-recommends/ Feel free to ask questions and/or post comments in the live chat at the cams. There is almost always a moderator available to respond.
@@WRCatBWHQ Thank you, I will most certainly check the links and your channel out. May blessings to you and yours.
@WRCatBWHQ PS Your response did not show up on UA-cam notifications on my laptop, it only showed up on my cellphone. I normally use my laptop only for UA-cam videos so I didn't see you responded until last night or I would have thanked you sooner. My apologies, until last night I didn't know notifications are different on one device from another. I would not have guessed this.
@@ExpandMyLife One thing I have learned over the last 5 years as a UA-cam moderator - UA-cam is weird. I also would have never guessed that notifications were handled differently on different devices. You learn something every day 😉
@WRCatBWHQ Sorry to ask a dumb question, what's a UA-cam monitor? I'm not new to watching UA-cam videos but I really don't know anything about how it works. In all the years I think I've uploaded like 2 videos. I really created my UA-cam account so I could create Playlists for myself and keep track of vids I like to rewatch. Someday I should watch some videos on how to make a UA-cam video. I'm still trying to figure out how to transfer pictures off my phone to my laptop! Lol
its More A.M Mayhem
Circle of life it's nature oh well
Skunk uses stomp! It's not very effective....
Mr Skunk hasn’t figured out yet that you’re not gonna stink off a critter that snacks on roadkill.
Thanks for watching and commenting - That's a good theory but based on what we have observed at the cams over the last 6 years, the skunks will rarely spray around a food source. They don't like their own stink - lol. The other critters that have grown up around them seem to know they are pretty safe when dealing with them around food.
haha, i have subscribed but after watching this i unsubscribe right now. Facking dem*nt learn to give normal titles
Awesome clip! Thanks for posting 👍
You're welcome - Thanks for watching and commenting. Opossums are interesting critters.
That is a FAT mental skunk. The Oppossum is obviously the stable one
Raccoons are messy
She wanted more😔
Possums have 50 teeth, more than ANY land mammal in America. That's quite a chomp.
Thanks for watching and commenting - That is indeed "quite a chomp." We even named an opossum "Chomp" because of its tendency to bite everything around it.
i love how grackles are sometimes the size of a kookaburra or something
holy ravioli its MASSIVE
Birb porn?! 🤔
Hawks consider feeders to be Bait Stations.
Thanks for watching and commenting - That is very true. All the birds and critters are well fed at the feeding station - including the predators.
That food in that corner must've been just better.
Thanks for watching and commenting - We have an ongoing discussion about "corner food." Many of the critters seem to prefer the food in a corner of the tray - lol
❤ 🦝
Thanks for watching and commenting - We ♥all the baby critters and birds but the raccoon kits are especially lovable
The skunk was not for moving😂. The deer had had enough😂
Thanks for watching and commenting - The deer was trying to be nice with little taps on the tray. Nice only goes so far 🙄
The deer just wanted to eat in peace with the skunk, but the skunk wanted to hog all the food for itself, so the deer had to show some authority!
Thanks for watching and commenting - Your statement pretty much sums it up - lol
This was cool to watch
Thanks for watching and commenting - We have seen many amazing interactions between various species over the last six years.
😂🤣😅😆😄
Yes, that's a big cat, but I don't think the raccoon is wanting to play. I think it's trying to intimidate the cat into leaving, or fight. Raccoons don't really mess around too much. This wasn't a large raccoon, but the cat would still have a problem to deal with.
😄🦨
That was a fun video to make - found the perfect music...
@@WRCatBWHQ It was terrific! There was another incident. Maybe I can save you some time....tonight --- 9:41:44 camera time. Deer/skunk this time. Really something.
@@fizixx LOL - Already editing a video of that encounter...
@@WRCatBWHQ 😄😎 very good.
Wonderful! 😍
Thanks for watching and commenting - It is "wonderful" to see such a large, well fed family of raccoons. Mom's done a great job protecting and feeding them.
Thank you for sharing this, the kits are adorable and look healthy and hungry!
You're welcome - Thanks for watching and commenting - The mom raccoon has done a great job protecting and feeding her large brood.
They all look nice and healthy. Thanks for the spotlight video look at this furry family.
You're welcome - Thanks for watching and commenting - It appears the mama raccoon has done a great job caring for her large family 👍
I was watching when this happened. Quite a surprise. The Hawk has to eat too.
Thanks for watching and commenting - We have seen hawks, raccoons and opossums capture other critters over the years - all doing what they need to do to survive.
@@WRCatBWHQ I have seen things like that on your channel (which I enjoy), but not on the other channel, aside from the Hawk. Did you see the skunk and raccoon interaction last week? It was very amusing. The skunk sat in the food bin and edged closer and closer to the raccoon, which did NOT like that, but was on his best behavior (of course ---- skunk). Finally the raccoon had enough and quietly left. IT was beautiful, and I had to laugh at this whole thing.
@@fizixx Thanks for watching and commenting - The vast majority of the over 750 videos on my channel were recorded at Scott's BWHQ location. While I did not see the recent skunk and raccoon interaction, we have seen similar interactions over the years. Follow these links for many skunk and raccoon videos - Skunks (over 70 videos) - ua-cam.com/play/PLFOVGQN9a8e8ijqukkRqvKPAxvhB_UBVV.html Raccoons (over 170 videos) - ua-cam.com/play/PLFOVGQN9a8e9REkhXaX5JTAqMP8Livr7k.html
@@WRCatBWHQ Thanks, I'll check them out! But this particular showdown was golden. The skunk knows what's what, and the raccoon knows what's what. 😄
Poor thing but we should never blame the predator. Nature is nature.
Thanks for watching and commenting - You are exactly correct - the hawk is just doing what it is programmed to do.
Did you edit that or was the hawk being utube compliant😂
Sharpshinned? Between them and Coopers with male, female and juveniles I'm never sure😆
Awwww. So precious. I have a mama raccoon and two of her babies eat in my yard. They eat the cat food I put out for strays. They love apples and peanut butter sandwiches too. They drink a ton of water too.
He was scaring all the animals away from the food. I put out food in different areas of my yard and all the ducks, geese, squirrels, stray cats, opossums, and raccoons get along just fine. I like your feeder boxes.
Thanks for watching and commenting - This clip was made in early June (5 years ago). That is considered "cranky mama season" at the feeders. Many of the birds and critters have young to feed and defend and it is not unusual to see a raccoon in daylight eating as much as it can to provide for its nursing kits. The mother duck was defending her ducklings by trying to distract the raccoon. At other times of the year we have seen as many as five distinct species eating together in peace.
Awe, thats so cute!🥰 I was at work during that time.
Thanks for watching and commenting - The videos allow everyone to see what they miss when they are working. I try to show the interesting things that happen each day and night so everyone has a chance to enjoy the birds and critters.

oh my heart!! They are so cute. They seem to be very new to everything - so amazing to watch. And mom keeps such a good watch on them ❤
Thanks for watching and commenting - It is always interesting to see how the newest little critters react to their environment. Just like a newborn baby - everything is "new" and an adventure in learning.
