I don't suggest it to others, but one day, I wasn't paying any attention and walked right into an angry swarm as I was going to the house. Once in, I 'woke up' to what I had done and froze. I realized it felt absolutely amazing. The energy was intense. I enjoyed it VERY much. Yes, it was relaxing in a way. It felt healing. Bob is the one who made them angry and had suffered the consequences of his actions. He was still suffering. I took his hand, promised him he wouldn't get stung again and convinced him to go back in with me. He did, rather nervously. I asked him to make peace with them and ask them to move on. They calmed and went away. 💕

When I was younger and keeping bees, I found that I could smell the difference between the hives. I found that if I cleaned my gloves and suit before I moved to the other hives, the bees were'nt on the offensive as much and were very co-operative and I didn't need smoke. As far as being relaxing, yes! Something about the buzzing and the movement was mesmerizing!

We have 2 GoPro’s and they over heat. I would suggest looking at DJI cameras. That is what we are going to switch to. I haven’t heard many vloggers complain to much about them.
Thank you for the video. I learn so much every time. Keep being you.

    Beekeepers definitely get it.
You've been educating here for years.
Just you and the camera and bees.

Always gotta move carefully when handling bees this time of year, when you're doing inspection(s).

Actually I can see or rather feel the calm amongst the bees.
Whenever I see bees hovering over flowering bushes and how they gingerly hover about and collecting nectar has the calming effect.
The fact that it is the natural order of things.

What does the paper do when combining colonies? Is it just to slow the introduction of the Queen? Do the bees eventually eat/break through it? What would happen if you didn’t add paper?

Do you put a few puffs of smoke on the site where a bee has stung you? it will help mask the alarm pheromone. I many times will sit off to one side of the entrance and just watch the bees coming and going. It is very therapeutic and relaxing. AND YES, i do talk with my bees as well, i think it has a calming effect on them, and probably helps them recognize me.

Im in Canada . 2 seasons ago i lost 2 queens to formic pro. It was the end of October and too late to buy queens. I combined 2 queenless hives, fed them over winter with protein patties and they survived. 6 months later i was able to buy a queen for the combined hive . The winter bee can live a long time. That hive lived well and healthy but eventually absconded due to an enormous amout of yellow jackets attacking the next October.

There are therapeutic places where beehives are literally under beds. The bees have entrances on the outside of building. Inside beds are directly on top of the hives. Sleeping there I can imagine would be very calming and they say it also has health benefits we yet don't understand.

I’m guessing that the queen shut down for the winter . I’d suggest putting are frame of eggs/ larvae in there . And if the dont make a cell . You know they are queen right

    • @brad0nja
      @brad0nja Місяць тому +1

My thought also! It is not at all uncommon for queen to shut down until January (depends where beekeeper is)... Bees seem very calm and not "crying" (fanning frantically).

You know a beekeeping girl is a strong girl she has to move them boxes.😇I'm a guy and Pray to the Lord before I pick them up.
Propolis makes good beekeeper gum😏sure gets stuck in the teeth good though.
I bet she is in the top box, oh she wasn't up there. That's to bad, Combine Time.
The Girls are looking Good this year, it's about the Colony not the Bee and it's about the Apiary not the Colony.
That can be a difficult lesson for young beekeepers, Thank You for talking people through it. Sometimes we as the Beekeeper have to make tough decisions and sometimes those decisions are made for us.👍
    Blessed Days Kaylee and Family.

Fascinating! Thank you so much for sharing. What kind of camera are you using? My phone gets super hot, but my dslr usually doesn’t. Is there something about being near the hives that heats it up? I’ve heard they give off heat. I was thinking about some type of umbrella to provide shade, but if the heat is coming from the hive, that wouldn’t likely do much.
Keep trying. This was so relaxing it was it bordered on meditative. Loved it! ❤️
