Any tips on where to find a B16 now?! Preferably in the US. Apparently they are discontinued now. I see a few being sold from overseas but they are outrageous.
I want a Bigsby on my Tele and am leaning towards the B16 over the B5 but I have a 12" radius fingerboard. Do they make a 12" radius bridge saddle? Or could a good luthier file it to 12" radius?
Dylan, I have a question about the bridge, I can see that the rocking bridge is great for the vibrato, but how does it hold tune when you're bending strings? I could imagine that there's quite a lot of friction then. I'm planning on building a b16 thinline, and I wanna know if I can keep the bridge or get a different one
Question on that "bowtie" bridge - is the radius 7.25" like on 50's Strat/Tele necks? Would there be any concerns or problems if the fingerboard radius is 9.5/10" (modern Fender) or 12" (Gibson) or compound-radius designs? Thanks Dylan - always great info from you!
@@DylanTalksTone what do you mean by just file it to whatever you need? Do you have a video of this type of procedure? Of so, could you please direct me to it?
Hi Dylan, I installed this bygsby on a yamaha pacifica. One question i had was about pickup height. The neck pickup had to be so high to match the volume level. What i installed were the fender vintage noiseless pickup set (tele style). Have encountered this before and how did you manage it?
Great video! I have a tele in drop A tuning with 62-13 gauge strings. Do you think it's possible to intonate it correctly with the B16? Or should go for a B5 instead?
If you're still wondering, we used to use wound G strings but now we use plain ones, and they intonate differently. They made this bridge for a string set with a wound G but not many electric guitarists use them anymore because they're really hard to bend
@@lukaskuipers7791 what type of modification has to be performed? Is the modification to the actual Bigsby 16 mechanism? Or is the modification to the bowtie bridge/saddle mech?
They are easy to restring. Get a big pink pencil eraser. Use it to hold the string end on the pin while you do everything else. All problems solved for a 25 cents.
I have always preferred Bigsby's for their looks, subtle bends, and stability.
Didn't know about the neck shim, saves me a bit of hassle if I decide to get one. Thanks!
Would love to have you install one of these and some of your pick-ups in a Nashville telecaster.
Is the bridge compensated for a plain G or a wound G?

Bigbys have such a lush musical vibrato

I doubt they could file it, but a good machinist/machine shop should be able to make one for you.

Does a bigsby work well with drop tunings? I’m often going between e standard and drop d with my band and want to put a bigsby on my teles
Because it's range is pretty low, you'd still go out of tune but a lot less so than other vibratos if you drop down

it's 12 but I just file it to whatever I need

I'm guessing that longer screws would make a huge difference.
Is it only tele, or any flat top electric?
it would have to be the corect body shape so the scale length comes out right
Dylan do you recomend any shim for a bigsby b5 on a telcaster?
For a b5 not necessary

You'll have to get a different bridge.

Awesome! Answered all my questions 🤘🏽
Session legend "Bob Bain who played the theme to the T.V. series "Peter Gunn" has a B16 on his Tele and Humbucker in the neck. position.
I wish they made this for a humbucker mount.
How about intonation on these bowtie bridges? Can't I just use a roller bridge?
In most cases they all ready have a close intonation.
Always wanted one but don't think I could deal with the hassle of stringing it.
Gobi Grey once you do it a couple times, you don’t even think about it anymore.

Let’s try a Duesenberg guitar or Trem and come back let us know your point of view ! Cheers
Meh. They are ok.
