Eventually your E46 M3 starter will fail to crank the engine. It usually happens in the worst possible place. Sure you can tow it; but there is a way to get the M3 started allowing you to transport it, or go somewhere if you're out of options!
You'll need tools to remove the cabin air filter; a hammer, and dowel rod.
Of course we recommend changing the starter out ASAP, which we will show you in the next video. We found a way to change the starter without dropping the transmission; instead we go in from the topside; with the air intake box removed!
If your starter failed; you're going to want to order these parts:

Remember when starters were easily accessible under the vehicle? Tap, tappy, tappy.

After 3 days of searching for a non-crank problem, I finally found a solution to gently tap on this famous part... something that I would have done before even opening the fuse box if there was more room in the engine compartmen... when I remember my youth with my 324 TD from 1988, I managed to hit with the hammer, driver's window open, while putting the key in and start the car on the same Time 😂.... Tomorrow I dismantle the laguna seca, spring is coming. THANKS 😁

I didn't succeed from the top. I checked the voltages at the starter terminals once again (endoscope required) Positioned at the driver's light, I passed diagonally between the original air box and the shock absorber head. With a hollow stainless steel tube, I leaned on the base of the starter (nut of the long threaded rod). a slight shock loosened the coals. replacement of the starter is planned. THANKS
