      A lot of VA docs won't do nexus letters. Not sure what ailment you need a nexus letter for but if you can get your doc to annotate the nexus in your medical records it could help get your claim approved. That's what I did several years ago with my electrophysiologist when I filed for AFIB secondary to hypertension.

      Remind your doctor of VHA Directive 1134 and that if he can assist you with your nexus letter, he should. If he refuses ask him to explain his reasoning in writing. A great way to do this is through the secure messaging feature on My HealtheVet on the VA website.

    Hey Clay,
    Thanks again. Is it possible to submit multiple secondary claims at the same time for this. For example, I have urinary frequency and urinary incontinence really bad. There are multiple historic and current causes (e.g., scatica, MDD/GAD, and high blood pressure to include VA prescribed meds) documented in my VA medical record.
    The question is which one should I submit as a secondary claim or can I submit secondary claims for all three at the same time?
    Note: I am servivce connected and rated for Lumbar Strain, MDD/GAD, and Hypertension.

    • @TheCivDiv
      @TheCivDiv  Місяць тому +1

      The answer is your ITF. Use the 12 months and whenever you have the evidence, that is when you submit. Yes, you can submit multiple secondaries at the same time along with other types of claims. Use the ITF to it's fullest extent.

      If you’re using it as a secondary to a service connected hypertension, then you do not need a Nexus. Claim ED too.
      For my male veterans who have had prostate cancer, I use incontinence and how many times they change the diaper daily and nightly also. There’s a lot of residuals for prostate cancer.

      @@TheCivDiv Thanks. Going to Start my first claims next week with the DAV. I'm looking to submit the following bundle:
      Due to back and neck issues stemming from a car accident (primary conditions) while in service has led to a decrease ability to exercise, which led to obesity (intermediate step).
      The obesity led to hypertension (secondary) & sleep apnea w/CPAP (secondary).
      I understand how numbness and tingling would be more directly secondary to the back and neck issues. Just wondering about the hypertension and sleep apnea.
      So I am prescribed controlling medication for the hypertension. so this video was rather timely. I also get leg swelling with the amlodipine as well so I have some tweaking to do.
      If there is fault in the reasoning let me know.
      Also, I have medical documentation for the neck/back, tingling, obesity (I understand this is not directly rated), hypertension and sleep apnea.
