- I am helping this single mom of 3 kids by helping her clean her extremely cluttered bathroom. Mom suffers from ADHD and her oldest is autistic which has been a challenge. There are also other mental health challenges here as well, but Mom is in a better place, has a new job, and is making efforts to clean up her dirty and cluttered home.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a professional cleaner or not or what order you clean in. It’s a lot of work you are taking on but you get the job done! These homes are definitely much cleaner than they were before and you’re helping people which is what’s important.

Personally however a room gets cleaned, it gets cleaned! I always felt bad that I removed the trash first, like i was cleaning wrong, but that's how I liked to process the cleaning, then I discovered Marriot hotels trains their room maids to remove all trash first! I literally did a happy Dance lol..haha! Merry maids has an awesome 90s Era cleaning tutorial video it's the best. Honestly half the time I just make the beds take out the trash do the laundry lol and run the roomba and dishwasher lol. And file the papers. Dusting mopping whew scrubbing that's alot. Haha.
In a space like that I think it’s smart to clear up the floor first. It’s a matter of safety. Too many tripping hazards with all that stuff on the floor.
I thought the same thing. Plus, you need space to put items when clearing off counters, etc. Amazing job. I am a super modest person also, so don't feel bad. Do what makes you feel comfortable or, hey, tik tock has only fans lol

I’m always amazed that people who are not doing this cleaning for others need to tell you that you’re doing it wrong. A therapist once said there’s a difference between “should” and “could.” Maybe you could do it in a different order, but it’s clearly your choice and comfort level. No one gets to tell you what you “should” do.

I'm assuming you're referring to the comment I got about the cleaning being painful to watch ? Sometimes I just have to laugh. Some of the things people would say used to get under my skin a lot and I would take it personally, but I'm learning how to just say to myself, "okay, thanks for your opinion," and then either remove the comment or usually other viewers come to my defense which is kind of funny and endearing.😄❤️

Yes on the voice over, no in the picture-in-picture. Sorry internet trolls exist. I bet they'd be overwhelmed in these homes as well, and you're right that sometimes you just have to do things twice or out of order due to circumstances. As for the bullet incident, "teenage boy" is all the explanation needed. Its just part of the physical development of the teenage brain unfortunately. Keep up the amazing work 💕

I actually didn't dwell on that comment too much. I mostly brought it up because I thought it was kind of funny that someone would say something like that when this is obviously a very different kind of cleaning than just a normal weekly or monthly house cleaning. People are funny!🤷♀️😄
The up to down thing applies if your starting with a basically clean house and up keeping. With these, as Auri says, trashes first, then surfaces (maybe here up to down), then organize.

I feel so much better with a clearer space, motivated and inspired by these cleaning vids. Suggest to people struggling and overwhelmed, especially parents, The Minimal Mom and then the friends she also collabs with are all so great. They teach us brilliant simple tips and tricks I had no idea about
I used to do the same thing before I started my own channel. I would put on one of these other channels and have it going as I cleaned my own house. I may not have gotten it done very fast, but it was very enjoyable and so much more fun to clean that way. But I get extremely excited about tackling huge messes, so I don't need as much motivation anymore, but I still like to have them on in the background when I'm cleaning sometimes.😄 So glad you find it motivating as well. 👍Thanks for your support!❤️❤️
Modesty blur reminded me of a carpet cleaner channel. Guy would get "plumber butt" sometimes, and use the channel logo to cover it up 😄

If you do that on your shower door, make sure it is the toilet bowl cleaner that has lime and rust remover in it. The one I used was made by Lysol, but Clorox may have a version of it as well. Happy cleaning!🤗❤️
Late to the comment train, but wanted to add some things I hope you will see, Bonnie. 1) Your personality is starting to come through more and more with each video, which is just so fantastic. You're starting to feel more comfortable, and it is showing! 2) Your voice is much better in the closet... it mutes the "s" hissing, which is an esp difficult thing to overcome, for those of us watching on our less-than-ideal phones (crappy audio is the bane of all content creators) 3) Agree with modesty in clothing. Always be aware of that, and you'll be fine. BUT, and here is the caveat to this point, I loved the tank top anyhow, bc it's part of your personality! Like, I was surprised by it and smiled bigly when I saw it! It's the same with your cute sneakers with the footprint soles...
...in fact, those shoes and the footprint soles should be featured like an Easter egg in every one of your videos. Make it a point to do a shot where you're on the floor, with your soles to the camera, so that they are featured in each video! Who knows? Maybe that company will eventually sponsor you for your "product placement?" I just think it'd be fun to be known as "that cute beautiful mess person who wears the fun and funky shoes." I'd invest in a few more pairs of them, so you'll always have them for all your videos going forward. :)

And, oh my gosh, I love, love, love that idea of having the soles of my shoes featured somehow in each video! I definitely want to invest in more of these shoes because they are so comfortable and the ones that I'm wearing are really getting worn out as I wear them in some pretty filthy situations and then throw them in the washer when I get home, so they get worn out pretty quickly. Thanks for the suggestion!
I think the top to bottom approach works when you come into an organized clean home as a professional cleaner that just needs maintenance but when there's dirty dishes, rotting food, laundry and trash to contend with, IMO the priorities change. I quit dying my hair because that dye is the worst, even if you try your best. I accidentally dyed a small section of a bathroom wall in an apartment. I've even gone to the backyard and used the hose to try to keep the mess down! Anyway, great job!
Yes, priorities in these homes are much different than an already fairly clean home for sure. Great idea with using a hose to rinse out hair dye! I dye my own hair and have never thought of this. I'm always bleaching my tub after...LOL!

Most of all, many of these desperate homeowners require mental therapy, additionally, in this case, assistance with the challenges of the autistic child! Then, and only then, decluttering and cleaning will help, but only after the mental disorder(s)/stress(es) are handled properly! You are an angel for attempting to help this dear Mother.

I used to make technical training videos for a large company. But it was so noisy on their premises that I used do the voice over in a small clothes closet at home. The clothing and bedding in there was great as sound insulation. ;)

Anyone ragging on you for not being a "professional" cleaner needs to shut their opinion hole unless they are offering to help people clean for free. You are an amazing person to do this ❤️
It’s wonderful you did the bulk of the work- and it’s a huge thing that the homeowner is continuing with your work. And when you think about it that’s the healthiest way; these people need to actually clean, sort and throw to create new habits.
When I cleaned my son’s hoarded, rubbish filled home (only a third of a 6 bedroom house done in 7 full days) I walked him and his wife around to show them where I put stuff - for example ALL shoes I found I put on 2 large shelves in a downstairs cupboard, ALL paperwork in the shelves of a cupboard so it stayed together, etc.
And my pet hate is old curled, faded photos etc on fridges - all of them were put in a nice basket on top of the fridge.
Yes, I absolutely agree. In order for them to make better habits, they have to be part of the cleanup. I have done a couple of homes where they didn't help at all and I kind of regret that because I'm sure it's just back to the way it was. Sometimes they aren't physically able to help, but they can certainly go through paperwork and sit and sort through things. It definitely helps make this stuff stick a little better.

Bonnie I do the same thing. I do what ever hits me first. If my floors are worse then my ceiling. I do the floors first. Then do a quick wipe of the floor when the ceiling is done. Your doing a great job! I have become a big fan of your channel. Keep up the good work!

Regarding the two angles thing. I think you should choose which angle works best for each area/item that you’re cleaning and just include that. That way there will be a mixture of angles but we won’t see the same thing happening twice. I wasn’t a fan of the picture in the corner- my brain filters it out but it’s blocking out a quarter of the picture.

I can’t believe she would want you to stop? I wonder if she has any concept the thousands of $$$ you have saved her family by volunteering your labor. Btw, I prefer one picture at a time. This actually gave me a headache trying to watch due to too much happening at once.
Yeah, it was kind of hard to understand why she would want me to stop, but I also don't have ADHD or the same brain as her and so I won't ever really understand it. I do hope that she can clean it up on her own or at least accept some more help in like a month when she's had time to get used to the other changes. And, don't worry, I won't be doing picture in picture again.. LOL!😄

Bonnie! Bonnie! You’re perfect the way you are…don’t ever change! My very favorite part of this video was the ‘towels under the feet’ technique! Voice in closet is great! On hair dye, I would have tried hydrogen peroxide, or even hair dye developer, but I’m thinking those stains are there to stay! The Collab was fantastic! Look forward to your video.❤

Yeah, the penguin walk with the towel under the feet looks silly at regular speed, but having It sped up made me laugh harder than it should have.😄
Toilet cleaner for 30 min also works. Test dot first though 👍🏽
Yes! I "mopped" just this past week with the cloth under my feet like that. I'm sure I looked a lot more akward compared to Bonnie's cute sped-up version that made my heart giggle. 😃
HAIR DYE! A high volume peroxide FOR HAIR, 40 volume. Leave a thick blob of it to sit for about 15 minutes. Darker or brighter dyes may take longer. If that isn't enough you may have to mix it with a hair bleach powder and leave the paste for a few minutes. Nail polish remover will just get sticky and other cleaners won't touch it. One problem with linoleum is that once the stain gets under the surface it might be permanent.

Yes! I actually don't know why I didn't think of this because I have used hair dye to remove hair dye on my skin which is so weird, but if it's put on and then removed immediately, it does take it off. Great idea! If I do go back to this house, I'm going to try that. But you're right, it may be permanent. It's worth a shot though!
As I'm watching this, I'm wearing my "chocolate moose" pajamas, so I just want to thank you for not punching me in the chest as if you were on a hunting trip. 😜
A tip about unwanted cleavage; I worked as a bartender back in the day. There were guys who would purposely sit in front of the wash sinks so they could look down the female bartenders' shirts while they were cleaning glasses. When I got dressed for work, I would stand in front of a mirror, lean over and pantomime washing glasses to make sure I stayed covered. A few guys actually told me they couldn't see down my shirt. I just smiled and thanked them for noticing, but omg! 🤦♀️
Cleaning the floor first made it easier for the homeowner to clear a lot of items off the counter, so that was a great idea. I didn't care for the two angles playing at once and preferred the overhead view in that small space until you got to scrubbing the floor. The sound was great so a good tip from Mack!

It's funny because I'm usually so careful about that and almost always wear a t-shirt, but it was so dang hot that I just couldn't handle it and I get really irritated when I'm hot! 😄 but, if I do choose to wear something like this again, I will make sure my camera angle is a little lower.😜

Just a comment on the "top down cleaning method"... I see a huge difference between "clearing the floor so there's room to function" and "cleaning". We need room...CLEAR the room, and then you can still CLEAN from the top down. Most professional cleaners just show up to CLEAN...NOT to sort through piles of clothes on the floor. In this circumstance, I would do it your way!

Hi Bonnie. I recently learned a cleaning hack for the toilet bowl brush. When you are done scrubbing put the brush between the bowl and the seat to let the juices drip into the bowl. This way when it dries and goes into the holder it will not collect gunk. You do an awesome job and thank you for all you do for family, friends and community.

I wasn't sure about the 2 angles at first but it ended up working out nice. I don't work with hair dye but maybe straight peroxide poured on the stains? Not sure. You sound great. Ignore the haters....you do this FOR FREE for people you don't know..... - Really the Moose Fist Fighting is just a bonus on your channel at this point ;-) ~(That REALLY cracked me up!! if that wasn't a Mack stamp of approval I don't know what would be).

Definitely start with the floor when it is cluttered. Top down works for cleaning only, but not for spaces that need to be picked up. Otherwise one would step all over things to get the top done. Doesn't trouble me at all that you are not a "professional" cleaner- you are a GREAT cleaner and have a compassionate nature which shines through your attitude and behavior! Also- a hairstylist may know something about getting hair dye stains out of the floor material. I know a master colorist and will ask her if she has any suggestions and pass them on next time. Keep going- we love your contributions!

Others have mentioned peroxide or hair color developer to help with those stains. I think that is the best bet here. If I ever get a chance to go back to this house, I want to try it!

I won't be doing the picture in picture anymore as I can see how it could be very annoying on a smaller screen. I hadn't really thought about so many people watching it on their phones versus a computer or a TV, so I will go back to doing it kind of how I was before, but maybe try to cut out some of the seeing the same footage from a different angle stuff. You did a great job on this cleaning. I enjoyed either angle however it is hard for my eyes to focus on one screen when there is all this movement in the upper screen. I tried to avoid looking at the upper screen because things look too small anyway, too distracting and hard to watch. Otherwise, I love your cleaning videos, your narration and thanks for the extra footage at the end!
Yeah, I really didn't think too much about people watching this on their phones and I'm sure a lot of people do, but that smaller screen probably doesn't show up very well and it just blocks the view. Watching it on a TV would be a totally different experience I think. It was something fun to try, but no more picture in picture!😄👍

I'm so proud of the woman for continuing to clean up on her own! And good job on the bathroom! Suds make me happy, too. Just today I used a little bucket of soapy water and a scrub brush to really clean the floor around the toilet. Then I followed it up with some of Mack's APC to make the floor really shine. ❤

You're doing a wonderful service for people. May I suggest that you use your overhead shots instead of the horizontal shots from behind you. Most of those horizontal shots have tour rear end taking up most of the screen shot.... Best of luck for a successful channel!

I like it when only one screen is happening at the same time. Great tip on the shower glass. It looked so good after. I wish the whole glass shower trend would go away, it's so much upkeep.
I would think cleaning from top to bottom would be almost impossible considering you can't get on most of the counters because of all the clutter. I too would clean a flat surface just so I could stack and/or move things to an uncluttered surface. As for filthy floors, I wouldn't be able to stand walking of crispy crunchy floors, I'd clean them as soon as possible just to have nothing under foot.
The hair dye on the floor is probably permanent every suggestion I read on the internet says, "clean immediately." LOL! They say once it dries you may still get it off with one of the following: rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover, baking soda and water, hydrogen peroxide, hair spray (alcohol content); all the suggestions say to try the cleaners on a hidden area in case it damages the flooring. In beauty school if we got dye on something they told us to mix the dye with shampoo and use that because dye will remove dye, but it would be fresh dye not dried on dye.
Yeah, I think because it's been there so long, it's probably pretty permanent. But, if I get the chance to go back to this house to clean, I may try the peroxide.👍

Water spotted shower glass looks absolutely amazing! Good to know how to clean water spots. Rented townhouse that had mirrors next to the shower. Tried everything to get those water spots off and could not. So sorry to hear she is feeling overwhelmed and wants to stop the videos. Hope she changes her mind. So far, I've watched Mack's video and Barbie's. And neither one showed the videographer's cat. I hope you got some footage of his cat. Great video as always been look forward to next weekend.
I thought the guy with the fancy camera was filming them for a TV show, I believe Mack mentioned the name of the show, but I can’t remember what it was.
I have great news! I got some footage of the cat and totally plan on putting it in my video.. lol! I always have to feature the animals because, why wouldn't you?! Unfortunately, it's not a great shot of the cat because she was inside of a carrier and I didn't want to risk letting her loose. Nonetheless, I did get some footage of her. She was adorable!

To me the most important rooms to keep clean in my home is the kitchen and bathrooms , I clean them daily I deep clean them once a week and quick clean them daily.
You did and amazing job for this woman for all the time you spent there to make it livable again. You work very hard at what you do and you should be very proud to be so helpful and it doesn't matter if you are a professional cleaner or not. What you did is priceless. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not really a fan of the extra angle. Way too distracting. Can't seem to concentrate on either one of them. This is not criticism, just my opninion. I love your videos. The sound quality is indeed a lot better. And I love your voice. It's so soothing. You're such a nice person to help people who need this. Forget about the bad comments. You do what works best for you. The goal is to help people, how you do it is not important. The main thing is you help these people. And that is exactly what you do.
