- TOP 10 GUITARISTS THAT CAN SING! KEN TAMPLIN VOCAL ACADEMY
I thought it would be cool to showcase top guitarists that can sing.
The reason is that I myself started out as a guitarist and got tired of being held hostage by "the singer."
In addition, learning to sing was a great tool for writing and expressing my ideas.
I hope you find this video inspiring on your musical journey and remember:

So glad you didn’t leave Richie Sambora out, he has a truly beautiful and soulful voice!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️
I totally agree!
13:48 ❤️
He’s the best one on this list!!!
Richie Sambora's voice has gotten stronger as time goes by. 😊
David Gilmour not even being an honorable mention is a huge head scratcher. He was not only the lead singer of most of Pink Floyd's biggest hits, he put out 4 terrific solo albums that are further proof of his underrated vocal talents.
😂 not a big fan !!!!!
I am a big fan,his voice was/is perfection for Floyd ~
Rik Emmet of Triumph
Yes.
Rik Emmet ... can play any style of guitar - had amazing instrumentals, one on every album - and a classic high range for a progressive rock trio :)
Agree.........Actually one of the best rock singers ever..
Yeah, Rik is an amazing vocalist and shreds on guitar. He must be on any list like this!
Love me some Rik Emmet - he's talented and fun too!
Love Richie Sambora.Bon jovi will never be the same without him.The heart and soul of the band.
He's a good one!
@@kentamplin He fronted all his projects before Bon Jovi and lead guitar and singer. Today still blows most on this list away vocally. I'm a long time fan of your channel and website. How about doing a video on him and showing us how he does it? He's got one of those unique voices no one seems to be able to mimic.
@@DarkHelmut I second that. Please do a segment on Sambora!
Yeah that would be cool he never gets enough love.
I clicked to see if Richie Sambora was on here. Glad he made the honorable mentions. Never seems like he gets enough credit for his amazing vocals. Thanks Ken!
For sure.
The iconic David Gilmour was a significant miss
Omg richie is so great and underatted
Richie is awesome
Yeah Sambora Richie great Guy easy going not same like BJ.
I was here hoping to see Mr. Myles Kennedy on the list, he’s one of the greatest vocalists of our time, and is a great guitarist to match.
He's a great one.
He's a great guitar player and can hold his own next to Slash and Tremonti, but I still put him down as a singer who plays rather than player who sings.
@@TheAdyyoung2000 as far as i know he made his money as a guitar coach in the first time. Tremonti mentioned something like this.
Yeah me too! He's truly a modern day legend. He first started out playing guitar and his amazing voice followed. And how about his "partner in crime " Mark Tremonti?!
Thank you..I was going there too
Another vote for Rik Emmett here !
Carried pitch in high registers very well while playing fairly completed chordal rhythms.
Did this from a three piece band and was accomplished with piano, synth and bass guitar.
This monster musician is a list to himself !
😊
Yep Rik Emmett is great
Most underrated guitarist and singer ever.
Richie Kotzen has been one of my favourite guitarists for years. Such a cool style and a great voice!
For sure!
Hello Ken,
You are really awesome. I'm 57 and I would have wish you could couch me, but now I lost a lot. You have a beautiful voice. God bless!
Question:
Can you do a video about singers over 70 years old. Like Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Sting and others. Why they can't reach their past high notes. I think at the moment that Sammy Haygar is the only one.
Blessings from Puerto Rico.
Al
Great guitarist but horrible band mate (as Rikki Rocket can attest) Lol!
I think Ken made a solid choice with Richie, and kudos for playing probably his best sample...the live version of the Elvin Bishop song!
Back in the 80’s I used to go watch this band from PA. At my local bar in Newcastle De.the band was called Arthur’s Museum and had this 16 year old kid who just fucking rocked.Started watching a young Ritchie Kotzen just skyrocket !!
RICHIE KOTZEN IS AN UNDERRATED ARTIST
CRISTINA QUINTANA 👍
His singing on fever dream is excellent.
💯
He deserved the Number One spot for sure.
Agreed, though Richie would be under-rated at any level of fame or recognition. Just a monster talent in all regards.
I would have definitely had Glenn Campbell in there. Glenn was a session guitarist before he eventually went out on his own and started singing. Loved his Glenn Campbell Good Time Hour show in the late 60s through about half of the 70s. His singing was as great as his guitar playing, which was definitely great!
Glenn was a genius.
Agree..saw Glenn in Anderson, IN and great voice, and he was a fantastic guitarist...really shocked me how great he was. Rik Emmett gets my vote as number one!
I love that you had Tommy Shaw and James "JY" Young on here... Love Styx.
Richie Sambora's Stranger In This Town solo album is a Masterpiece!!...Nice work Ken!! :)
😊
@@kentamplin Richie Sambora Isolated Vocals, please!
All three of his solo albums are amazing, but Stranger in this Town will always be my favorite. Nothing like him!!!
Gary Moore comes to my mind when someone is a great guitar player and a pretty good singer too. RIP Gary. Proof can be found e.g. from here: Gary Moore - Shapes Of Things (Live) Sheffield
He's a great one!
Modafinil I’m from Sheffield 🥰
Hiroshima...some great screams there.
@@JohnSmith-oe5kx Here is a clip of Moore showing his awesome chops while playing some intricate Jazz Rock in Colosseum II in the late 70s:
ua-cam.com/video/S-4lm0w7mJQ/v-deo.html
And does the keyboard player look familiar?😀
One of my favorite guitar players and also singers!
Rik Emmett from Triimph should have been included in the list or at least a special mention. He is a phenomenal player and singer.
Not possible to have a top ten guitar/singer without David Gilmour. Top ten guitarist. Top ten singer.
😊
I agree.
@@kentamplin David Gilmour not even being an honorable mention is a huge head scratcher. He was not only the lead singer of most of Pink Floyd's biggest hits, he put out 4 terrific solo albums that are further proof of his underrated vocal talents, you also liked this comment
Or Rik Emmet...Dave Hetfield over Rik Emmett...you have got to be kidding!
David Gilmour, Vince Gill and Robert Cray and Glenn Campbell.
Greats! 10 Slots.
@@kentamplin Look at my list as well. You should have this 20 or 30. I mean you missed 4 of my favorites, an oh and Greg Lake played acoustic and sang some of the sweetest ballads Like C'est la Vie. His solo on Karn Evil 9 1st Impression was impressive.
@@kentamplin Mark Knopfler , Rory Gallagher
Robert Cray! Most American blues singers like BB King.
@@phivoskokkinoftas2435 Mark Knopfler is in there.
No Steve Lukather?, seriously go listen to "I Will Remember" by Toto, a STUNNING vocal performance
No David Gilmour or Billy Gibbons? Soulful expressive emotive singers!
Similarly, Dan Huff. Ridiculous guitar and amazing vocal range
Thanks for sharing your picks, Tony!
Yes, I just love Steve Lukather's voice. His guitar playing is the best in my book.
Solo album "Luke!"
I knew Steve was bad ass when I was 13 years old.when I heard hold the line .the solo.then years later I seen toto live he blow my fucking mind. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. He made that guitar his bitch. Dude is unreal!!
Yes, Kingdom of Desire is one of my favorite Toto albums because of the singing of Steve.
Glad Dave Meniketti got a mention. He's still delivering 2hr sets every night to this day! Y&T are a criminally underrated band.
😊
So True....
I was surprised at how good Richie katzen is, he was in poison, that's what I knew him from. I was surprised that he had all this good solo material.
Amen
Dave is the best in my book!
Another vote for Rik Emmit, who can for one blow away most of these guitarists, had to fill the sound stage with his guitar being in a three piece band, and to this day is still a better vocalist than most of these on this list.
nc0gneto 👍
@nc0gneto - Agreed! He is/was an amazing talent. He can rip on the guitar.
I was fortunate to see Triumph live in the mid 80s with Yngwie Malmsteen opening. Rik blew him off the stage.
I agree Rik Emmit was the best singer guitar player ever especially in rock.
@nc0gneto: Yes, I will 2nd that on Rik. He has an amazing voice and can shred on the guitar. Rik can play the 12 string like no other. Triumph never got enough props back in the day like that other amazing 3 piece band from Canada. You know who I am talking about.
Richie Kotzen is by FAR my favourite multi instrumentalist (play a TON of instruments crazy good) and vocalist. Let's not even talk about him as an author! Guy writes awesome songs in many styles! He's my favourite musician! :D
He's great!
Likewise. Totally agree!
For sure, he is a well-rounded musician who is on that next level. I saw him live and it's astounding how good he sings!
that clip of Nancy Wilson singing magic man is.....magic! loved it!
Brandon Dilorenzo ❤️
Isn't she amazing? :D
Rick Emmett from Triumph, Ian Thornley from Big Wreck, Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge and Mark Tremonti from Tremonti.
😊
I’m glad Richie Kotzen is in this list. He is not only one of the greatest modern guitarist but he also has a voice of Michael Bolton / Chris Cornell live. I saw him live and the guy behind me laughed bcoz when I heard a squeal I pointed my camera in Adrian Smith’s guitar (his side project band Smith/Kotzen) not knowing it was Richie Kotzen’s voice that made the high note. lol I would say Richie Kotzen is one of the most underrated, most gifted musician to walk our planet.
Before watching the video lists non-negotiables, in no particular order
- John Norum
- John Sykes
- Ken Tamplin
Great video, a treat for the axedudes/dudettes! Thanks!
So many good ones. Glad I made the list.
Oh, Snap! I forgot all about Sykes and the most undderrated band of all-time, Blue Murder!
Gary Moore for me, the soul he put into his playing combined perfectly with his effortless voice, a natural singer and guitarist throughout his whole career.
Thanks for sharing your pick, acidarrow
Absolutely. His earlier stuff in particular displays his first rate blues/rock voice, eg Empty Rooms, Midnight Blues, Still Got The Blues, Out In The fields, Over The Hills and Far Away ...
bang on he was epic
I'm one of those people who started just playing guitar and then learned to sing.
I consider myself to have zero natural singing talent, I was the kid who learned to just mouth the words when we had to sing in school, because I would get pained looks if I actually made a sound. I tried various self-teaching courses through the years (was too embarrassed to actually go to a singing teacher) and none of them worked for me.
But these days I not only sing at jams and open mics, but I regularly get complimented on it.
That massive change is pretty much down to just two things - Your singing course and a lot of practice. It was probably a couple of years of doing the exercises pretty much every day before I felt confident enough to try singing in front of an audience (and that audience was at my regular jam where I knew they would be tolerant and supportive), but eventually, I got there and haven't stopped since.
Now I enjoy singing and I enjoy people's reactions to my singing, they are two of the great pleasures in my life, and I really doubt I would ever have had them without your teaching, so thank you very much.
And if anyone who reads this is in the same "I wish I could sing" boat I used to be in, I say give it a go, it takes time and repetition, but it is totally worth it.
Vibrato still pretty much eludes me though, but I think I may finally be getting hints of a proper natural vibrato, but how to develop it?
I see from your website the course has been updated, I may need to upgrade.
Frampton - Honorable mention!!! Saw him in concert at the Atlanta Fox Theater in 1972 when he was with Humble Pie / Steve Marriott - another phenomenal guitarist and singer.
John Sykes is not only an amazing guitarist. But, also a wicked singer. Steve Lukather is another one very talented individual.
Another one I can think of is the great Dan Huff his guitar playing is pretty scary and badass. His vocals is another monster ability. Truly impressive stuff.
Thank you!
Wow! You picked what would be my top three choices in this category!
Came here to say John Sykes, but Dan Huff is a great pick as well.
David Gilmour! A beautifully warm voice
Totally!!
When I saw this subject, Richie Kotzen was the one who popped into my head. Glad to see him here.
Two people I would suggest for this subject are lesser known, but shouldn't be: Ian Thornley from Canadian band Big Wreck, and Brazilian Rafael Moreira who is in Paul Stanley's solo band and has his own, Magnetico.
Thanks for the suggestions, Michael!
Omg! Rik Emmett is in a league of his own. When you have Steve Perry saying that Rik is a phenomenal singer and Steve Morse saying that Rik is a phenomenal guitar player then I’d say Rik needs to be on the list.
Great channel!!
You're missing Jerry Cantrell.
😊
Damn straight!!
Jerry's couldn't carry David' Gilmore's pick.Jerry's bad ass but david would take his ass to school! Gilmore is on a hole different level.
Let's not forget Gerry more. My god mind blowing. He was wicked. That man could pick his ball's off. He's gone to. We are losing all the good ones.
@@sabrinacudney3697 Jerry's voice was best harmonizing with Layne 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Richie Sambora! Probably a better singer than his (ex)boss JBJ:-)
He's in there!
Totally SRV influence.
Not probably better, he is better. JBJ should have let Richie sing more.
Agreed
I kind of get what you're saying but his backings to Jon's lead made them two sound amazing together and I just couldn't imagine any of the big hits being sung by richie, just wouldn't sound right. And I know he's sung certain hits on his own at concerts while jon takes a break but it's just not jon.
Ken, how could you leave off David Gilmour? He is number one on this list in my book, he may not have a lot of range to his voice, but it is very soothing and his guitar work gives me goosebumps.
Richie Sambora is so underrated
Myles Kennedy is also an amazing guitar player first. He won a guitar competition as a teen (there's a video) and he even gave lessons to Slash and Tremonti! He also played jazz.
Richie Kotzen is my favourite, by far though!
Cool!
Myles is in my top 5, and I'd go as far as to say it's hard to argue him out of my number 1 spot.
Love Myles Kennedy... I don't think he gets the recognition as a guitar player that he most certainly deserves. Most people that listen to Alter Bridge don't know that he is a great guitar player. They only know him for his amazing voice.
And what about the bands Cosmic Dust, Citizen Swing and The Mayfield Four that he played guitar and sung for before currently for Alter Bridge. He also put out a solo album The Year of the Tiger in 2018. And then he also sings and occasionally plays guitar for Slash's band Slash ft. Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators.
How about a list of at least the top 50 or better yet the top 100?!?!
I can think of a few...
Myles Kennedy
Mark Tremonti
Slash
(My top 3 favorites)
Kurt Cobain
Dave Grohl
Gary Clark Jr.
I can think of a few more but not right now cause my brain is tired and it's past my bedtime. 🤣😴
Well, it really surprises me that there is not even mention of Steve Lukather.
He's a terrific guitarist, and also a good singer. Many of Toto's best songs are sung by him. Not forgetting that he led the band for many years.
Thanks for that addition, Anjelica!
Anjelica M Luke is a crazy good guitarist and great singer too!
Went through comments to see if this was brought up. Started as a session guitarist too (must have been on most of the records done in LA at some point of the 80's), but I really like his singing too, solo or TOTO or whatever. But yeah, there are a lot of those guys out there (and new ones coming in all the time), so I guess it's understandable to miss some.
@@Garbox80 Well, yeah, there are many with those characteristics, but Lukather doesn't enter in the cathegory of "a lot of guys" he's a musical legend.
Lukather is badass on the guitar and he can sing good too...for many years!!
First time I heard BILLY SQUIER I could not believe my ears, the guy not only is able to pull off Robert Plant kind of vocals, but doing so while playing guitar like Jimmy Page, and most important of all being able to pull all that off LIVE ON STAGE... unbelievable that I never heard about the guy until a few months ago
Good to see Richie Sambora as an honourable mention. Very underrated guitarist and vocalist.
😊
So fun fact
Princes started the "artist formally known as ; the symbol"
a way to release more music.
He was sitting on mountains of material ready for release, and the labels wanted to hold it from going out. He created those outlets to give them the finger, and distribute the material
That's what I've heard.
Great list!
I feel like John Frusciante and George Harrison should have made at least the "honorable mentions" list
Good suggestions.
John Frusciante would be at the top of my list
@@joejoejohnson8310 I came to the comments to see if the video was worth it, but if they don't have Frusciante. );
Richie Sambora is so underrated as a solo artist. Great musician
I always loved Joe Walsh as a solo artist and his time with the James Gang.
Despite Walsh being a great guitarist, he is not that good of a singer compared with most being discussed.
Hi Ken! I think you may have missed Rik Emmett formerly of Triumph. He is an incredible guitarist and was an incredible singer (he's a little older now and lost some of his range). During his prime, his range was epic. Check out some of his songs from the US Festival back in 1983. Incredible..just incredible. By the way...really like your videos. Thanks for doing them.
There are many.
Rik Emmett was my first choice lol
Besides Rik, David Gilmore, Jeff Healey, Eric Johsons and Steve Lukather.
But I loved the video. Thanks.
First one I thought of, too. Tremendous singer and way underrated player.
Hmmm...the first ten that came to mind, in no order:
Rik Emmett
SRV
Jimi
Clapton
Frank Marino
Gilmour
Townsend
Trevor Rabin
Mark Knofler
Tom Johnston
Rik is an amazing player and has an amazing voice!
Jani Lane from Warrant probably one of the most underrated singer songwriters and acoustic guitar players from the 80s considering he wrote majority of the songs
😊 Gone too soon. What a tragedy.
Great top 10 Mr Gary Moore a must, omissions only one springs to mind the legend that is Rory Gallagher. Top notch as always Ken. Slainthe🥃🏴
Yes and Thank you for recognizing Ritchie Kotzen! He’s an amazing multi-talented musician and so underrated!
Great to see Richie Sambora in there! He's the one I wanted to see here. And you featured my favorite and the best BJ guitar solo - Dry County
😊
Definitely Robert Cray, Billy Gibbons, Brian Setzer missing here.
😊
It's a sin not having Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth on that list, a musical genius and an excellent vocalist/guitarist.
Thanks for the addition, Riff is King!
Rik Emmet gets my vote! Sammy is great to add...saw him solo in Evansville, IN great show and frontman and guitarist! Saw him with Van Halen too...really took them up a notch is songwriting!
My list:
John Norum
Richie Sambora
Brian May
John Sykes
Tommy Bolin (R.I.P)
Only recently did I hear Brian's singing voice, and it's on par with some of the best for sure
Thanks for sharing your list, Reviewer Guy!
I’ve never liked Brian’s voice - too weedy for me. I’d throw in Dan Huff of Giant and Dave Meniketti of Y&T.
Brian May for sure! Though none of these are live versions, here is a playlist of 10 Queen songs Brian both wrote and sang lead vocals on...

I wouldn’t say he’s a good singer, but Big Bad Moon sounds fine in a ZZ Top sorta way.
Love your channel , did you do a top 10 drummers that sing ?
The four names that immediately come to my head are Devin Townsend, Jeff Buckley, Myles Kennedy and Stevie Ray Vaughan, in that order.
Good list!
I just watched Rock Star for about the 10th time last night. He wasn't in the film for very long but it was definitely memorable.
And Mark Tremonti 😉
The Winged Rhino yes DT!
And not M. Tremonti?
I am 100% shocked that Myles Kennedy wasn't in this mix. He and I hung out quite a bit during his teen years, and he played guitar, as a shredding lead player in the late 80s and early 90s era. He was even briefly in my band of 35+ years Amethyst, as our lead guitarist. The guy was very humble, but a great player. He even won an award at a guitar contest at a local Spokane music store around 91/92 era. But look at him now. He didn't even sing background vox for my band or any of his other Spokane younger year bands, until he joined Mayfield Four as their vocalist/guitarist... Then Mark Tremonti picked him up, and the rest is rock and roll history!
Thanks for weighing in.
Myles Kennedy for sure. He could write a GOOD song, sing it and shred all at the same time.
The first person who comes to mind when thinking about guitarists who can sing is Tommy Shaw from Styx. I saw Styx 2 or 3 years ago and was thoroughly blown away. Tommy sounded as good or even better than he did in the 70s. Thank you for including for this great list!
Tommy is a great one!
So glad you gave Dave Meniketti honorable mention. Killer singer and player. Don’t know if you’ve heard BigWreck but Ian Thornley is an excellent vocalist and amazing guitar player.
😊😊😊
4 people that instantly came to my mind: James Hetfield, Chuck Schuldiner, Devin Townsend and Eric Clapton
😊
I totally forgot Devin. He's awesome
Gary Moore was the best. He's really the guy who inspired me as a kid to move beyond strum strum strum and pick strum pick strum.
That's awesome, Amanda!
Peter Frampton’s voice is like a cold beverage by the pool...and Richie Sambora has a GORGEOUS voice. I think I liked your honorable mentions better than the actual list 😁
Thanks for listening! Appreciate the visit.😁
Though maybe not in the top 10...we just lost Myles Goodwyn (April Wine) R.I.P. In Canada Myles was a rock giant, I mean... right up there with Canadians like Geddy Lee, Rik Emmitt, Kim Mitchell. He was great on guitar and vocals and an amazing song writer, he filled the house everywhere he went in Canada for decades.
So cool you remembered Dave Meniketti, after I saw Y&T open for Sammy Hagar in 1980-something I couldn't believe how great! Also great: Matt Bellamy, Vince Gill, Stephen Stills, Billy Gibbons
😊
He is a bassist but I really love Glenn Hughes’ voice. After those years and all the dusty stuffs he did he still has an awesome voice.
😊
All I hear... is BUUUUURN! 😍
Thanks for adding Lindsey Buckingham at the end my all-time favorite guitar player
Don’t forget about the one and only Tom keifer from Cinderella … awesome guitar player, and a brilliant singer
I totally agree with Ritchie Kotzen.Saw him live some years ago and was blown away by his guitar-playing,and his singing.Wow!I think you should have included,Dave Meniketti,David Gilmour,Paul Stanley, and why not,Ken Tamplin?
Thanks!!
Saw him several times all over Europe...I think he might be one of the purest talent ever
@Marc Quee You're right, how could we overlook the greatness that is Ken Tamplin? I've never actually seen him play but his voice blows me away, every time ;D
Heather Miller I did a couple of gigs with him back in 86,and he can play, and sing, obviously:)
Ian Thornley-he's sort of the Canadian Ritchie Kotzen and a monster guitar player. Vince Gill-every guitar guy knows he a monster player and a great singer. John Sykes as well.
😊
My hands were above the keyboard, about to mention Kotzen, when you put him number one. Great job.
Whew! Dodged a bullet!
same as here... 😄
Dave Meniketti is the man, one of my all time favorites, criminally underrated
Mark tremonti is someone who comes to mind
Thanks for the addition, Sam!
That first CREED album is KILLER!
You rock Ken,and so do those shirts, thanks for sharing this with me,I always value your opinions. You a positive soul man, thanks
Thanks, Jason!
Some honorable mentions; Keith Urban, Jerry Cantrell (AIC), Noel Gallagher (Oasis), Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), and George Harrison (The Beatles) :)
I'm so happy you included Lindsey Buckingham, his live performance of "I'm so afraid" resonated with me as a child and still to this day I can get "lost" in the moment of it.
I love all your vlogs but I'm still trying to get through your "How did I become Ken Tamplin". i believe every word you say, but I sadly I can't believe in God. My attention deficit disorder and my tinnitus means I have to break every vlog into smaller pieces, but thanks so much for all your hard work. I really appreciate it and it's helping me learn about singers, music and production techniques.
Thanks for listening.
Fantastic list Ken..nice to see you honoring a diverse group of styles and music🎸 I was just thinking Michael Sweet should be on this list! So many greats
I'm glad you enjoyed it, 356 Pounds TO FIT!
Hey Ken.....what about Glen Campbell? In my humble opinion he is by far THE best singer/guitarist EVER!
Love your cheerfulness.
Another great one, MrsBlue Sky!
Roy Clark too
Brian May may be the best singer on this entire list. Such a beautiful voice
Also love you mentioned Lindsey Buckingham since he's the most underrated guitarist ever
Thanks for the thoughts!
I was surprised how good John Sykes could sing when he put together Blue Murder.
👍
Check out bad boys live. It's pretty clear he is the 1987 Whitesnake album. I would even say, better than Coverdale...especially considering the guitar work WHILE singing.
To me Dann Huff from 80's AOR band GIANT is a forgotten and underrated hero. He could sing really well and could shred with the best of them. Dann Huff is often associated with his session work on Eighties mega-hits, including Madonna’s "Like a Prayer,” Michael Jackson’s "Man in the Mirror” and, of course, that “Danger Zone” guitar solo.
Thanks, matt!
He was also the founding member of the Christian band "White Heart" and Co wrote "Change the World" with Eric Clapton and Tommy Simms
Im a huge Giant Fan, I cant believe I forgot about Dan Huff..loved that band, saw them many times back in the day
Sammy Hagar is my favorite. I may be a bit biased since I grew up with Van Halen and their early 80s music ☺️
Johan Larsson 👍
He is a good guitar player, but i think of sammy as more of a singer who happens to also play guitar
Main reason he left Montrose, He can play guitar, seen him a dozen times the Red Rocked can shred.
Thank you, great video and list. I thought about most of the same artists you selected. 2 artist came to mind as well. Richie Sambora and Keith Urban. Again thank you for all the efforts.
Thanks for sharing!

Super great list! I'd love to see that show!
I'm addicted to your channel and content Ken! Your story is so awe inspiring!
I have to say there is one glaring omission on this list and that's Glen Campbell. Glen was a top 10 artist of the entire 20th Century in my opinion. AMAZING singer and even better guitar player which is saying a lot. Anyone reading this go check out his solo output from 1967-1979. There are some UNBELIEVABLE musical moments in there. I am a former metalhead and Glen is my favorite artist of ALL TIME! Keep it up Ken, you rock dude!
Thank you!
The Richie Kotzen trio in a small club is the best night of music I’ve ever experienced. There is nothing he can’t do.
More Bear 👍👍👍
Ian Thornley, Myles Kennedy, Mark Tremonti
Thank you for putting Richie Sambora in your list. I've always loved his voice.
Richie is my all time favourite musician since 1989 so I definitely agree.
😊
Rory Gallagher is one of my favorites.
😊
Another enjoyable video so thanks there Ken. I maybe biased but May should have been in the top 3 :)
#1 - Kai Hansen - Helloween, Gamma Ray. Not sure I've ever seen someone play and sing such complex stuff at the same time! Blows my mind with his talents.
I'll also add the guy I'm going to see live tonight, Randy Jackson of Zebra. Also will throw out Miles Kennedy and agree with others on Gilmour and Emmett.
Cheers
Man, I love Richie Kotzen. Had he been born 10 years earlier he’d be perhaps one of the most famous rock musicians. Soulful in everything he does and performs great live. Had to a chance to see him in Montclair, California in August 2022
These names are often overlooked and under appreciated but are just awesome: Steve Winwood, Terry Kath, and Leslie West.
Thanks for sharing your picks, Marshall!
Terry Kath...man RIP
@@heathermiller6046 Played like Hendrix or Santana sang like Ray Charles
@@tomacosta85 Yup. His daughter did a documentary on him not too long ago. If I remember right, Hendrix actually thought Terry was the better guitarist. I'm sure that went both ways lol.
He really was an amazing player though. That riff from "25 or 6 to 4" is one of my favorites ever. It's just so sad what happened. He was about to embark on a solo career too
@@heathermiller6046 Yea. I saw that with his daughter. She found the missing telecaster. I always dug 25 or 6 to 4. Check this out. My birthday is 6 25 64. I was In to it big time.
First name that I missed in this? Steve Lukather . . . and don't tell me he can't play the guitar . . .
😊 10 slots.
@@kentamplin yeah, but if you say" Guitar players, that can sing, then you would have to sort out the deceased, because they can't either sing nor play the guitar any more . . . ;)
oh SNAP! ANOTHER forgotten one! Just listen to Rosanna ONCE...with Lukather voice range...and then that solo at the end he does....GOOD JOB @keiichi67!
Lukather should have been at the top of this list.
Steve is bad ass .
You inspired me to try singing. I left a comment a while back where I said I was to afraid to start and you said that you should try and have fun. I have my first lesson tomorrow. Thank you
Go for it!
You're kickin it on this youtube thing. Easily one of my top 5 favorite to watch.
Love to hear that! Thank you!
Great list!! After going through the comments I noticed nobody mentioned Warren Haynes, of Gov't Mule.
😊
That guy is a great singer and a great player
I've been a musician since 1977 and I really enjoyed the insightfulness of your list. For example, Stevie Ray Vaughan. He's such a titan on the guitar than his voice is very easily overlooked. It perfectly fits his blues style and really goes well with the sound his heavy gauged strings produce. Great job. I always enjoy your videos. God Bless, brother!
Thanks, yesorlando05. I appreciate that!
