Great list Ken - for my money Steve Parry or Dio are probably the most gifted - Micky Thomas gets the longevity prize, no-one has a right to be that good at 73 as he is now, but hes obviously been taking your advice on looking after his pipes. Ive seen Freddy countless times and he was fantastic, not without occasional pitchyness though, Plant, very wisely, now drops a key or two when required - If this included soul and pop wed be having a conversation about Luther but thats for another poll altogether
Awesome list!! David Coverdale, Steve Perry, and Sammy Hagar were probably my favorites. Also special mention John Cougar Mellancamp. Thanks for sharing.
This is wonderful.I absolutely love Freddy Mercury, Steve Perry, Steven Tyler and adore/love, love,Lou Gramm, Brad Delp, David Coverdale, Ian Gillen, Ronnie James Dio, Glenn Hughes (just saw him for the first time last year this month, it was a blessing), Sammy Hagar, Paul Rogers, Robert Plant, wow, our taste is so similar and of course Bon and BrianI'm with you on that one and of course Ronnie James Dio. I'm just trying to get my vocals to sound nice when I talk, I'm the Canadian version of the Nanny and would rather not speak at all sometimes but I sure would love to be able to sing. I was told that I have nodes on my vocal chords. It's weird, sometimes I can sing but most of the time, I can't. You're videos are great and our list is pretty similar even though I can't sing. Thanks Ken, it's nice for me to dream.
Btw, I forgot about the wonderful Mickey Thomas, I had tickets to go see him this spring unfortunately not with the magnificent Grace Slick but Jude Gold (she's incredible too). Mick Jagger too, there are just so many great singers, aren't there? Klaus (I really had a Black Out). I forgot to ask if you can teach someone who has a bad speaking voice, it's weak and low? I think I have to crawl before I walk/run. Is it because I have champagne vocals taste on beer budget vocal chords?
I want to say Lita Ford, too, but there's so much less women singers that sing rock. And a bit of a stretch would be Alanis Morissette, since she's got a lot of more pop-rock type stuff but she's got some damn good ones in there like All I Really Want
Yeah I was thinking Micheal Sweet also. He still has some good range for his age. Check out Strypers cover of Heaven and Hell by Sabbath. It’s pretty good. If you like Sweet you’ll probably also like Joacim Cans from Hammerfall. He’s got a unique voice also with some good range ua-cam.com/video/bkwoo3nDA2Q/v-deo.html
Awesome list Ken! I can get onboard with all those picks. There were so many great singers and I know you can't list them all but one comes to mind I would put on my list. Burton Cummings had a powerful beautiful voice from The Guess Who. Also loved his solo song Stand Tall.
I wonder about early rock in this conversation. Elvis 🕺 Jerry lee Lewis. I have to say I liked Elvis previous to this week but truthfully didn’t give him his dues vocally. Recently viewing a video of Elvis sick from the flu and in his last days singing unchained melody (1977) and also in his prime 68 comeback special “If I can dream” I have a new respect for the king.
For me it's Plant because of his expressiveness. He can make me cry as well as yell. But it's tricky. Mercury was a great showman, and yes, definitely hard to separate the top 5. Glad you put Macca in your also rans. People overlook him as a rock singer. Daltrey should have been in your main list. So glad you put in Stevie Marriott.
Steve Perry is number one, but I enjoyed your show
Thanks!

No Chris Cornell? Ken I'm a fan but a top rock singers list with no Chris is not valid. Good day to you sir.
Maybe all of you should look at the Top 10 Modern/Alternative Singers of All Time video. I told you to wait for upcoming videos... You didn't listen. ua-cam.com/video/jIRLkkusb7Y/v-deo.html 😜
#1 Steve Perry #2 John Fogerty #3 Robert Plant -- but that's just me....you never disappoint Ken! ♥
Thanks for sharing your tops, Jazzy Gurl!
Good list
cant see a 20 top list without Ozzy.. but beside that Ken, was a great top 20 list.
I just came here to see Freddie Mercury as number 1
Sajal Sinha 👀
So glad you chose Sammy and Bryan Adams! Also loved Sebastian Bach’s voice back in the day, and don’t know if he’s considered rock, but loved George Michael. You picked some awesome Special Mentions too, Ken!
Glad you think so!
Great job Ken!!! I agree with your top two . I have tattoos of Zep and there's no one like Freddy, he is truly missed.. keep the videos coming.
Robin Zander - always underrated!
ABSOLUTELY 💯!!!
....and as evidenced here. Very big oversight.
So many to choose from . old school - Steve Marriott , 80's John Waite, 90's and on- Eddie Vedder , Chris Cornell, Number one is Freddie Mercury though.
All greats!
John Waite!!!!
Layne Staley was better than Cornel or Vedder...
Oh and so glad Steve Walsh made it! He was amaze in his prime!!
He was!
Steve Perry and Klaus Meine are awesome!!! But for me Peter Gabriel, Geoff Tate and Layne Staley deserves to be on the list
5. Oli Skyes (BMTH)
4. James Hetfield (Metallica)
3. Chester Bennington (Linkin Park)
2. Chris Cornell (Soundgarden and Audioslave)
1. Robert Plant (Zeppelin)
Pretty solid list overall. Really appreciated the Montrose mention. Can’t thank a friend of mine enough for turning me on to that self titled album from ‘73. For you youngsters out there, give that album a listen. It’s in my personal top 5 all time.
Rock on!
When I saw the title of this vlog, I said to myself, "Freddie Mercury better be on this list." Lol. Thank you for putting him at #1. Freddie certainly is on my list.
Rock on!
Who didn't know that Freddie would be No. 1? I knew!
A little bit hurt that Layne Staley or Chris Cornell isn’t on this list, but still pretty solid nonetheless
They're on the Top 20 Alternative list.
@@kentamplin I knew it!! Ken couldn't have excluded Chris Cornell from the list.
They're on a different list that Ken made. Jeez mate do your research before making complaints
@@kentamplin Great that you have Chris Cornell on on of your lists Ken. He is my vocal idol. Great work on your YT channel btw.
Dio always #1 for me...Rob Halford top 10 for me too...enjoyed the video!
Awesome!
My favourites~ ( not in any particular order) Plant, Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, Myles Kennedy & Freddie. ❤️
Great video, Ken! 🤘🏻✨
Thanks for sharing!!
I ABSOLUTELY love your list Kerri! I couldn’t agree more with you. Plus I would also put Axl Rose on this list as well.
+1 for Chris Cornell and Myles Kennedy. Different generation of rockers for sure though what great rocking voices
Love Steve Perry❤❤. Thank you.
👍
For my the best singer, Jimi Jamison the Survivor, Jon Bon Jovi, Matijevik the Steel Heart.
Awesome job Ken like always
Solid list, man! You mentioned a few of my all time favorites. I would like to add a few honorable mentions. Robin Zander (Cheap Trick), Michael Hutchence (INXS), Rik Emmett (Triumph), Mike Reno (Loverboy), and Jim Jamison (Survivor).
Thank you!
Rip emmet can sing! Play the guitar to Mayb he falls in that category, singers that can play!!
Rip Jimi Jamison

20. Thom Yorke
Honorable mentions
21. Mike Patton
22. Sahaj Ticotin

37. Jon Bon Jovi
38. Matthew Bellamy
39. David Gilmour
40. Ian Kenny
Side note: Brian Johnson, Bon Scott and Axl Rose belong nowhere near this list IMO. Even Jimmy Barnes in his prime was miles better than both AC/DC vocalists and he never gets a mention.
Thanks for sharing.
Plant 15?😱
Steve Marriott?
Great list Ken - for my money Steve Parry or Dio are probably the most gifted - Micky Thomas gets the longevity prize, no-one has a right to be that good at 73 as he is now, but hes obviously been taking your advice on looking after his pipes. Ive seen Freddy countless times and he was fantastic, not without occasional pitchyness though, Plant, very wisely, now drops a key or two when required - If this included soul and pop wed be having a conversation about Luther but thats for another poll altogether
Great rank list! I definitely agree with the person topping it too! Keep rocking, you are doing a great job!
Thanks, Ilian!
Chris Cornell and Sebastian Bach should have made the list. Too many oldies on here.
👍
I don't this chris was a rock singer, he sang rock songs and pop etc as covers but vocal male singers ever I think Chris is number one
Freddie is the best, without a doubt ... although he would have added axl in the list, at least in the honorable mention
👍
Absolutely top list. Some I'd forgotten, some are still on my UA-cam list
So many great singers. Yes, my course can help with speaking, as well as singing. kentamplinvocalacademy.com/
Caroline Lala freddie mercury my favorite jackie wilson rod Stewart Sam Cooke and more
I prefer robert plant
But freddie is a legend too
Great sir 😍😍😍😍🧨🧨
Thank you!
Same thought here,Robert Plant is voice of rock and roll and sexy AF🤘
I like the thumbnails of your videos (and the content of course!)
Freddie & Queen have been my favorite since the first listen to
Killer Queen / Flick of the Wrist way back late 1974
Females: Linda Ronstadt, Pat Benatar, Janis Joplin, Ann Wilson and Laura Jane Grace! For next time! 😅👍
Noted!
Annie Haslam
@@kentamplin I would add Grace Slick, Ellen Foley, Sandy Denny and Kate Bush.
I want to say Lita Ford, too, but there's so much less women singers that sing rock. And a bit of a stretch would be Alanis Morissette, since she's got a lot of more pop-rock type stuff but she's got some damn good ones in there like All I Really Want
Pat Benatar....going to see her and Neil in August for the very first time. She is my fav.!!! Best female rock vocalist.
Oh and also Freddie, Geddy Lee, Michael Sweet and Steven Tyler! 😘
Indeed.
Yeah I was thinking Micheal Sweet also. He still has some good range for his age.
Check out Strypers cover of Heaven and Hell by Sabbath. It’s pretty good.
If you like Sweet you’ll probably also like Joacim Cans from Hammerfall. He’s got a unique voice also with some good range
ua-cam.com/video/bkwoo3nDA2Q/v-deo.html
@@a.b.317 Yes Michael Sweet had better technique than most other in this list
So many great artists to include. It’s hard to make a Top 20 list chock full of 30-40 all-time legends. Teach me Ken!
Awesome list Ken! I can get onboard with all those picks. There were so many great singers and I know you can't list them all but one comes to mind I would put on my list. Burton Cummings had a powerful beautiful voice from The Guess Who. Also loved his solo song Stand Tall.
The list that nobody can disagree, like them all but my favorite will always be Bryan, looking forward to more covers u do great job Ken, stay safe
Awesome! Thank you!
Elvis was great.
Nice list
Glad you think so!
Thanks for the visit!
Love Lou Gramm , AC/DC Bon Scott & Brian Johnson , Steven Tyler ... Great Voices .
Rock on! 👍
