Cheers, will do Steve 👍
This is how I originally heard of the podcast from the first time you had him on
Is this a repeat of old material or something new?
@@dswain1981 this is a new interview but his had him on before
And I won't tell anybody!🤐🤐
I have to say that the Diary of a CEO is probably the best business and self-awareness podcast at this moment!

I do totally agree with you. I, being in Moldova, hear The Diary of a CEO, when I have time- all the time. 👋 Steve is a great Man. 🙏 Thanks for Your work mate. ✅

44 minutes in and I already feel like this has significantly impacted my life. Thank. You.
Interesting without seeing this comment, at 44mins, I paused and shared this video to tell someone this related to our experience.
Right on.
Light bulb moments
This is your chimp talking
Im 35 mins in & it's fairly predictable to be honest
I’m 61 years old and go out dancing every weekend. Melodic house music is my medicine. I also teach a class at my gym called body combat, a high energy mixed martial arts work-out to music, I give art and food tours to folks visiting Philadelphia and I love aimlessly riding my bike throughout the city. Professor Peters’ consistency in not judging what people value or looking to change people’s character, but working WITH it, is impressive and inspiring. The level of humility in which that takes is immense. Hoping to learn more from him through his books. Thank you for inviting him on!
Steven @ 63 I am learning more from your podcasts than I learnt in the past 60 years. You deserve all of your success. Greetings from South Africa
So glad to hear this! Team DOAC 🙏
Imagine if we were taught this in school. So interesting and relatable.
Since your rational brain is only fully developed by the age 30, you might not appreciate this video as much at school!
we can not have any of that.
Exactly imagine we should be.
Not sure how is aligned with Tim galleay Self 1 and self 2 concept

The wisdom this man possesses 😳 Absolutely mesmerizing. I’ll be listening to this a few more times. 🙏🏼
Same. Definitely worth a relisten or two
Glad I am not the only one who felt the same way.
The Chimp Paradox was the start of my self discovery. A game changer. I love his work and thankyou for having him as a guest 😊
"Thank you" is two words.

Never been so engaged and thought so deeply whilst watching a podcast. I really feel like this could single handily be the podcast where it makes the most change in people who watch this, for the better. Whether that be through there thought process, or learning to deal with things better. Mind blowing!
I feel the same. Been listening to it every day now and I never thought that a podcast could have such a significant impact in my life. Diary of a CEO is unmatched.
I am having trouble paying attention to this one playing in the background as it’s not very ‘exciting’ or engaging, but after reading this comment I’m going to come back fresh and try again so I can reap the benefits as well.
Was introduced to house music in my early 30's (1993/94) loved it so much got work in hospitality till 2002, I'm 60+ now and I am still listening loud and dancing proud. Will till my last breath. 🎉😊
... and I continue to say I am blessed to have these world-class therapy sessions while I sit somewhere in Uganda. Bless you, bless you Steve for this opportunity that you grant me each week...👑
Uganda! Wow! Cheers from Costa Rica.
How is life in Uganda? I’m truly curious…
I tell you!! Your neighbour from Kenya is also here expanding my understanding. This episode is on another level.
@@wallacemwangi2795 I honestly want to sit at his feet and take in all this knowledge

By far my favourite podcast, I feel like I just had free therapy session & will be sharing this podcast with all my dearest. The man has indeed answered to his calling, as someone with passion for mental health I'm so grateful for people like Steve. I hope I can make a difference in this world like you do. Buying your books straight away. Thank you so much.
you've expressed my thoughts precisely...Whether a legend he is!
Steve Peters is truly incredible. Thoroughly enjoyed the last episode with him, it was eye opening, can’t wait for this one! Keep it up Steven, what you’re doing is amazing.
Right on!
i have less than 30 minutes to go having started to watch the 2nd half today. Up until now, he is giving us a a slightly different version of Freud's id, ego & super ego concepts.
Chimp paradox book made me think again before I rush and get angry using my chimps instinct brilliant book
BRILLIANT. Exactly what I required, at this point in my life As a 47 year old, I've worked through so much and come to peace with and acceptance of things my younger self didn't believe I ever could. Still, I find myself working through more ingrained blocks, due to deep-rooted traumas, and I believe much of the strategies Professor Peters detailed are going to be hugely beneficial with working to unravel these gnarly knots. Thank you!
@@ThaDiaryofACEO - You are a fraud account and have been reported.
I'm 36 also facing the deep stuff. Of course, when I needed help, this popped up on my feed.
Fascinating talk. Well done. Being elderly, I personally find it difficult to find people who have the same values I grew up with. ..credibility, integrity, respect for others, etc.
Eyeroll
People of these past generation have a role model called Social Media. That's one huge problem
I first read the chimp paradox around 4 years ago and it genuinely changed my life. If you want to improve your life you need to put the effort in and put the time aside to read it.
I swear that was Anthony Hopkins before i looked twice 😂
Looks NOTHING like Anthony Hopkins……

I agree. I thought it was Dan Peña if anybody. And even then I was skeptical. But he looks nothing like Anthony Hopkins.
I too thought he looks like him! 🙂
Steven Bartlett, I just want you to know how much I appreciate you and the work you’re doing. You are a remarkable person and I am so thankful for the content that you’re creating. I only found your channel a few months ago and I have already learned so much and you’ve already helped me to grow as a person. Your doing very important work and have had a massively positive impact on my life. You have no idea how much of an impact you’re having on myself and the other people watching your content. Thank you! From the bottom of my heart and with all sincerity, I am extremely grateful.
This has been such an eye opener. It has highlighted the depth of trauma that has followed me my whole life. A random person broke into our family home when i was 15. He climbed in through a window on the second floor. Walked past my parents. Walked past my brother. Came into my room while i lay asleep and tried to kill me. There is no part of my belief system that can rationalize this. Or can accept it. It makes no sense. I walk every day with the belief that i have no right to be alive.
Am so sorry that you experienced that, sending you love and strength
I've read the Chimp Paradox and it changed my life. I am re-reading it again so I can remind myself the principles as its been a year or so and I know I've not done the things that Prof Steven talks about here. This podcast, albeit it very long, is the best one you've ever done - 2 hours of intelligent and mind changing conversation. Please keep these types of folk coming because they will change people! Thanks for giving him the amount of time you did - well invested 2 hours!
Steven I’m so grateful for your podcast. You’re doing amazing job😍🥹
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I can't get enough of Steven Peters. I think he's a life saver. A wizard of greater contentment and self compassion. What a gift.
Cheers for these podcasts mate. They make a difference. Incredible.
Cheers Tom! Appreciate you being here
Growing up in rural Australia I always got bullied for the clothes I wore. God trained me to understand the power of soaring alone. Which is why I still cope amongst the wolves of fashion! I don't give a toss of people pleasers, being bullied so much as a child I taught myself how to cope. My bullying is why I never please people. I am assertive and I speak up all the time, Last month my closest friends were not supportive of me reviewing luxury cars. I decided to ditch them and soar alone, which was the right action to do. Don't be afraid to know when the time is up for a given season regarding finding new business support.
This reminded me of MJ. I just watched a MJ Broadway show last week and it was marvelous. Because of black man's status at the time, his father physically and emotionally abused MJ to practice after Jackson 5 started to gain fames. It became MJ's life-time struggle. He formed this low self-esteem and always felt he is not enough, not perfect, not the best. Sometimes he pushed himself too far for the perfection. However, it also became his driven force which was his constant pursuit of perfection. I wish he was here, in your interview. I am just so curious. His pure pursuit of art and music literally brought tears to me.
My best friend is the most rational, calm person I've ever met in my life. If you raise your voice at all, he responds "if you start yelling then I'm not going to listen"
I never comment on videos but I really feel the need to comment on this one. Thank you both so much for this, it is the most insightful podcast/video I have EVER watched!
I normally put podcasts on in the background when I fancy a nap. No chance could I fall asleep listening to this. I believe I can make my life better thanks to you two gentlemen. Thank you very much. ❤️
This is one of the best ones you have done. I bought his book before the end of the video. :)
Later in the video UPDATE: “Your purpose is your self esteem” holy cow that one hit me so hard.
As a mature student studying for a psychology degree and also working hard on resolving my own childhood trauma, I found this totally and utterly amazing. My favourite takeaway is talking to our chimp on those moments that feel like emotional overide. That I know for me will be a game changer and save me so much inner turmoil. Thank you both 🙏
What I’ve learned from his interviews is no matter if it successful or not we’re all coping with life cause we don’t know what’s going on honestly
This episode is amazing, it’s such a rewarding listen and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s exactly what I needed. I’ve been lost for nearly 2 years and felt the world was against me. So much so that my chimp had battered my human to the point where my chimp was making practically every decision for me. I couldn’t understand why I was reacting like I was and I therefore couldn’t snap out of it. I’ve watched & listened to this podcast 3 times now and I’ve also bought The Chimp Paradox too. I know trying to manage my chimp is not going to happen overnight but I feel like Steve has given me an understanding and therefore the opportunity to finally do something about it and I can’t thank him enough. If you ever read this Steve, THANK YOU ❤
I was literally about to write a comment saying how affirming it is for me as a therapist to hear him discussing those cases where some trauma-based roots will always be rooted + in those cases, we should learn to understand ourselves, feel ok with and confident in responding to those moments where they show themselves. I was just about to write it, and then he calls it out on its nose. Incredible. Because it genuinely is what i believe and have seen, but also often hear professional advisors suggest very differently. What a pleasure it must be for any professional who has worked with or trained under this man
I was so happy to see another episode with Steve. Everyone in the world needs to hear this.
Best podcast yet! Incredible to listen to. More of this please!
Wow, these 2 hours were the highlight of my day. Looking forward to reading the book.
Thank you for such an amazing guest!

A great man, full of empathy and compassion ❤
I’m speechless! Wow! Thank you both - I will 100% need to watch this episode again to take it all in. Defiantly my favourite guest you’ve had on
This episode blew me away. Felt like I was going through that session with him as I related everything and went through the steps..... And that ending really hit home!
The next few days I reflected and it's really changed me. Thank you so much.
This was beautiful for helping me to understand how my traumas and habits fuel my relationships and life
Loved the first book, glad to learn of this next one and such a pleasure to listen to this interview. I really hope Steve gets the fulfilment and happiness he deserves in having helped so many people find their way.
Thank you both.
I’ve never watched a UA-cam video and it have such a profound effect on my way of thinking before! Steve Peters is a living legend, the way he comes across is heartwarming and he has such a talent you’d expect him to have airs and graces but he doesn’t, you can tell he loves his job and really wants to help people. Thank you for letting us all take in of this gentleman’s knowledge and help that he can provide. Congrats on another amazing video.
I bought Steves books after the last podcast, my favourite guest by far. The way he explains life and situations really resinates with me and helps me understand how my brain works. Big up Steve!

Professor Steve Peters is an angel, he is precious. We are so grateful for his works. God bless him🌼
I'm a 57 year old woman who had spent my life people pleasing wanting everyone to like me I was abused in numerous ways as a baby to teenage years and in some ways my whole life. Thank you for this video and for so many of them that you provide for us. The problem now is I'm overwhelmed and overloaded with information and so many things going on in my life I have no idea where to start. What to let go of what is best for me to start with etc. I spend so much of my time terrified
Incredibly relatable and digestible. Thank you to both of you for providing such a calming conversation exactly when I needed it.
New subscriber! The amount of phenomenal people you've been privileged to interview is amazing! You ask compelling questions that dig deep into the heart of the matter while making your guest and the audience (like myself) feel at ease. It is almost magical how you manage to get your guest to reveal aspects of their life that perhaps they've held close to the vest, never to have shared elsewhere. We realize through your brilliant interviewing that these successful people have all had trials, tribulations, learning disabilities of some sort, perhaps a rough, and/or troubling childhood, etc., We learn that these foundational stories reflect the underpinnings of almost everyone's life, and that we're not alone! The lesson is that It's not where we come from, but where we're going! Your journalism prowess should not go unnoticed. It takes time. Don't ever, ever ever give up. I hope this inspires you to keep up the great work! - Respectfully, - Ben.
So good. Felt a bit tearful so many times! So many reminders of things I already know but "forget" ... and will use to help others as well as myself, as a therapist. Thanks so much xxx
That last answer got me very emotional. What an incredible teacher. Thank you for making him your guest, I am immediately going to buy his book, this was a very profound listen.

BEST conversation I’ve ever heard on behavioral/neuroscience. Hands down getting the book, but even listening to this a few times is a game changer!! ❤. Kind of wish I knew about Steve Peters 8 years ago 🙌.
Loved his first episode with the chimp paradox. Got the book as a result of this podcast. Loving this one too! Great work Steve and team! Xx
I've watched many of your podcasts but this is absolutely amazing! I can't believe how much life changing content this one episode has. This is better than all the self-help books I've read. I studied Psychology in college but have not had one professor who was able to explain some of these rather complex topics so clearly and with such vivid examples. It truly shows his level of mastery and understanding of the human mind.
Prof. Steve Peters, I mean, wow! Devouring your podcasts since like more than a year now and want to say man.... the value you bring with your podcasts is amazing!
Helped me a lot on my road of self-discovery and healing.

All I’m going to say is this was phenomenal. Thankyou. Actually life changing and will change my mindset thanks to this for the better for sure! Book ordered. That final question and Steve’s answer was simply simply perfect.

I appreciate the quality of the sound, it is clear and nice to listen. Also, I appreciate Steven for patiently listening to all guests, and above all for asking really smart questions. It is my favourite podcast, thank you!
Very excited by this podcast Dr Steve’s work helped me through some of the hardest moments of my life. I have become a better person because of his wisdom.
Likewise, for some reason the Chimp Paradox really resonated with me. Not a panacea for everything but revelatory and a very real set of tools to begin my journey to greater understanding. I have listened to the Audible version 2 or 3 times and will continue to turn to it in the future. Other key voices that I have discovered and now rely on are Alan Watts and Jordan Peterson.
Steve thank you for bringing us guests and conversations like these.
Absolutely brilliant I am 74 and have learnt so much and I have passed it onto my sons to get them in the groove, wonderful!!
I find this man’s knowledge and ability to relate to others absolutely fascinating! Can’t wait to read his books! Thanks for this interview!

@@JohnSmith-gp4kj probably Dr Rangan E129 and Mo Gawdat E101 & 144. They’re all fantastic to be honest, not a fan of the clickbait titles but the actual content is extremely insightful. Jimmy Carr E106 is the most surprising, see a very different side to him and his answer to what is the meaning of life: “enjoying the passage of time” was a favourite quote from any of these podcasts.

Speechless I’m going to listen to this again. This podcast just gets better.
This resonated very much with me. Couldn't have come across this man's words at a better time to be honest 💜
Great show and thank you. I'm new to listening to your show and it's been phenomenal. That being said, I hate to break it to you both, but the 'looking in the mirror and saying I love you to yourself' was one of the most effective self esteem building things I've done. It certainly helped me turn the corner anyway. It's not about how you look. I love how I look and always have, short of a bad day here or there, but it reaches you inside. Looking into your own eyes. And yes, you cry and feel silly, but, truly, it is so effective. You realize you struggle telling yourself that when you thought you did love yourself. It reveals the problem and, when you can say it without those dumb feelings, you've changed that belief and it's a huge start.
Saying I love you is your human soul self’s truth.. you’re not faking it.. what they meant is if you repeat things, affirmations that is fundamental not aligned with our beliefs it won’t work long term, because you don’t value it actually.
That’s my understanding. Otherwise I’m a big affirmation person.. I am beautiful, I love myself, these worked great for me too. I think it’s because I believe I am beautiful and I love myself deep down (my human soul self)..
What I didn’t get is how do we understand what we value??? I feel like topic changed quickly.
I cried when I heard the story about the attractive lady who loved animals.
After that my whole body relaxed.
This is possibly the greatest thing I've seen on the internet. I've never seen so much insight, clarity, or such a generosity and wealth of knowledge about what makes us human. We need people like this advising governments about education, healthcare, social reforms, and policy, as so much of what is wrong with society (and the modern world) is due to chimp thinking - ranging from social media or arguments with your partner/children, right up to criminal acts, and even wars.
We're an intelligent species regularly hijacked by the brains we evolved from, and Steve perfectly describes how this can be accepted, explored, and managed. The part about self esteem is mind blowing. It also explains why wisdom and understanding comes with age, as it's difficult to make use of the computer brain whilst the chimp brain is so dominant earlier in life (especially if the computer brain isn't fully formed until around 30..). I certainly see my teenage children (and myself) in a whole new light after watching this, and it's this type of understanding and insight that we need far more of in the world - now more than ever.
🙌 Great episode, Mindset is vital to living happier more fulfilled lives. Positive self-talk and our over coming our false limitations from our limiting beliefs are important.
Not even going to beat around the bush…
The Chimp Paradox completely changed my life.
The ability to understand and control my own mind, emotions and ultimately my decisions. Wow.

Thank you Mr. Bartlett!
The most rewarding episode so far. I watched this whilst meal prepping for my son. So many reminders to be kind to yourself and get out of your own way. I feel like I can start today being a better friend, mother, wife and also reinforce that internal locus of control and make that career change.
Facts! We all need to be kind to ourselves!
The Chimp Paradox was a game changer for me. I've got it on audio book and listen to it on my commute sometimes. My Chimp has a name, and we have a relationship. He's been angry at times, but I've learned how to quiet him down. My mind is healthier for it.
It's a work in process because he acts quickly, and sometimes I'm not there with a banana before he gets out. I rarely shout, but good lord, he's a strong influence sometimes...
very seldom do i make comment upon things. I have to say reading your comment did resonate within. Read several comments to hopefully understand yet yours stopped me in my tracks. Its clear that the Chimp Paradox was beneficial even saying your mind is healthier for it, also confessing to be a work in process. I smiled to myself that you gave your chimp a name and you have a relationship at the same time acknowledging how strong the influence can be. THANK YOU for touching a nerve within. To close i want to congratulate you for embracing discovery, growth, and change. Good luck with your journey, i do hope you reach your destination.
One of the best podcast episodes I’ve ever listened to….. Extraordinary host and guest !
Gold, gold, gold from start to finish - Never forget who you are! Brilliant

Wow! My son who just turned 17 has the spirit of a philosopher. I remember him surprising me at 6 or 7 years old by saying:
Life isn’t fair, but it’s more about balance. If you are good, good will find its way to you eventually.
